T.J. Maxx - robert manager at lake zurich, il store

I will never shop at tjmaxx again - all because of the unprofessional manager (Robert) at the lake zurich, il store. 5 days ago I purchase a bedspread, sheets and pillows at the oakbrook tj maxx and went to return them at the lake zurich store with my receipt, the original packaging and all tags still on all of the items. The associate (I dont' recall her name... She is an asian lady - and I think her name is jen) told me she needed to get approval on my return since the comforter looked used. Did I say I bought it 5 days prior and had the original packaging? When the manager robert finally showed up... He looked at the quilt and asked if I used it. I said no, I told him I literally unpacked it and put in on my bed to see if it worked with my decor... It didn't so look good so I immediately repackaged it and put it in my car and returned it 5 days later... Well within the 30 day return policy. Robert then had the audacity to tell me that it was considered used, since I put in on my bed (For 5 seconds mind you) and that he couldn't resell it, then jen asked if I had a pet and picked at the quilt in such an arrogant manner, while robert tried to tell me why he wouldn't return it.. I then reminded robert that I was returning it within the 30 days, with the original packaging and my receipt. He then said he would return it (Which he did), but then continued to tell me how he would help me do my returns going forward... At which time I told him to "save his lecture" - I had no interested in what he had to say. He should be fired... As should jen. There are a lot of people out of work that would love their job. They are so unprofessional and arrogant. I can't believe it. I have been a loyal shopper for years and spend a lot of money at tj's and marshals. I will never shop there again. I am sure you won't post my complain, but I will blog about this all over the place.

I shop at that TJMaxx regularly and have returned many times including a comforter. This seems exaggerated. When deciding to pst a review that may get employees fired you have a responsibility to show pictures of your return so your statement does not seem so biased. Show pics of your unused item!

What ever happened to the customer is always right. I was just shopping at TJ Maxx in Lake Zurich, Illinois. I was shopping with my daughter and left my cart in the main aisle for a moment to look down one of the other aisles. The manager took everything out of my cart and gave the items in it to other employees to return to the shelf. When I could not find my cart he heard me and said oh that was yours. He then scolded me and told me I should not have left the cart alone. He never even said he was sorry. He treated me so badly that I never want to shop there again. I have been shopping at that store for 10 years but will never go back because of the way he treated me. Then one of the employees rudely stared and me as I walked through the store making my daughter and I very uncomfortable. I asked to speak to him again and felt even worse. He told me he likes to keep his store clean and left the cart in the middle of the aisle. Then why didn't he just move it to the side. He was rude arrogant with no customer service skills.

Wow! They actually returned a used comforter for you? Sounds like they went out of their way to customer service you. Seeing how they now have to take this unsanitary item and throw it away.

JayLong, saying that an item like a comforter is "used" because it was placed on the bed is pretty stupid. How else do people check? It's common practice.

I do agree that wishing them fired is pretty pathetic. Though your comment is pretty pathetic, too. You got to stoop even lower than the poster's level?

A little update in their customer service training would be well worth it at this point.

Wow, what a dumb ###. While I was with you the whole time (I work at TJ Maxx, and we do make judgment calls if we feel the product has been used before it was returned), and feel that you should have gotten your return refund, wishing that both employees get fired because of something so trivial (especially in this economy) just makes you a spoiled ###. So, in essence, f*** you.
