On July 23, 2019, I ordered a Corvette C8 from Bill Kay Chevrolet in Lisle, IL. I gave them a deposit of $10, 000 for this order. Now Bill Kay is saying that the deposit was actually a non-refundable premium for ordering the C8. No one over the past three months ever informed me that the deposit was actually a premium that was being added onto the msrp cost of the vehicle. I was astounded that they could add this onto the msrp especially when GM/Chevy profusely touted the fact that the msrp was under $60, 000. I tried talking on the phone to my salesman at Bill Kay, Connor McDermott, as to why I was never informed about the premium payment status of my deposit at which time he hung on me! Not a very classy way for a salesperson to treat a customer.
In my life I have purchased two Chevy Avalanches, two Corvettes, two Cadillacs, a Camaro, a Buick and six Lincolns, among other vehicles. In all of these transactions I have never had a situation like I just encountered at Bill Kay. I canceled my order and supposedly will lose my (now) $5, 000 deposit, for the simple reason that Bill Kay lied to me--not that I didnt want the C8.
I think that I will never hear anything from you regarding this episode, but I think that you need to know how this dealership operates. Last year they also tried to sell my son a Chevrolet Volt that they touted was a 2019, when in fact it was a 2018 model, I should have known better to order a C8 from them following that very disappointing episode.
