Cracker Barrel - Food/server

We were seated real fast.. And we had to wait on our server for over 10 minutes... Finally got some tea.. We order country fried steak, steak fries, mac&cheese and green beans.. Would have thought easy.. Well was over 40 minute to get and my order wrong and her food cold.. Swell took back brought me burnt mac and cheese and cold fries.. We really like cracker barrel.. So we ask the server about the food and she never said sorry or anything really acted like she could care less... Afterwards we did not see for over 20 minutes.. Finally brought our check and still never said sorry... I don't mind paying for good food but I was really mad about not even offering a discount or something... I don't like complaining when I am mad that is why I wait till I calm down so want get out of hand.. But since read some of the complaints and the one from a cracker barrell employee I will complain from now on.. On the spot... And want care who hears..

exactly true. if you try and tell a manager your bacon is or anything is burned, or your plate looks sloppy, the manger just says "it's not burned" or "just take it out and if they say anything we will get them a new order" why would i want to take out crappy food? why would the manager want me to take out crappy food? do they not want people to come back? hellllllooooo. i would wish managers would act like managers.

3/16/12 is the last time that Cracker Barrel in Pearl Ms will get any of my hard earned money on food! I was with a large group of people and could have the same complaint as others about wait staff and time but I felt sorry for our waitress who was obviously new and overwhelmed. My complaint is with the food! The last time I ate there is was not very good, but last night was the worst!
I ordered the fried catfish. If you could call it a fillet, I had 2 small ones on my plate and 3 or 4 unidentifiable knots of other fish pieces. The "fillets" were actually pieces of a much LARGER fish which meant they were rubbery. The "pieces", upon inspection, were BELLY JELLY meat pieces which I would no doubt had fed to the dogs! Who can call belly pieces fish fillets...that stuff needs to be in cat food somewhere. This was NOT nice FARM RAISED CATFISH FILETS that anyone should expect out of Mississippi restaurants! The corn meal used on the fish was flat and the hush-puppies were almost quarter sized balls of grease! I do not even think I can blame the Chef! Shame on the Manager for not inspecting what comes out of the kitchen AND for not demanding better quality cuts of meat from the Cracker Barrel chain! SHAME ON YOU CRACKER BARREL! I hate to think that people travelling through the state that might stop there and eat that "catfish" ...how utterly SHAMEFUL! I did not complain at the restaurant last night because it was full of people. I was so disappointed that I could not have complained nicely or softly. Folks in the surrounding counties would have heard me. Hopefully the whole state will hear this! What a disservice to our catfish industry! I quit eating beef years ago so I really enjoy catfish. I could see this stuff turning a visitors taste against catfish! ugh! Done with Cracker
Barrel!

As a server from CB, I can honestly say that your server was probably being forced to take care of someone else that the managers felt were more deserving. I hate to see a customer upset for any reason, but you have to understand that we servers are basically set up to fail. And just one complaint will get us fired. ( see every server was responsible for your food being late and cold, but only the one serving you WILL now be fired because of your complaint) Unless you get a job at CB as a server, you will never see beyond that simple concept that you are writing with. How simple it seems to serve you. Being a waitress isn't rocket science, but however, being one at CB means that unless your in the managers clique, your screwed. Read the complaints of employees before you judge us. The real problem is "Cracker barrel" it's not your server. We have to serve what we are given. See, we give up on fighting between the cooks and managers. Basically because it's exhausting! As long as they(managers) can make you and their bosses believe that there is a server to blame, then the problem can be fixed, and their perception of reality can stay normal for them. Nothing will ever change. I just think you need to look around before you complain. Your server may already be in a situation that is forcing them to neglect you, as well, a situation that keeps them from pursuing other employment options and are stuck where they are. In other words, your complaint of cold fries will have a life altering affect for your server, (it may not even be their fault). Please, reconsider, is it really that important?
