As a toyota lover and consumer who values respect and fairness, I would like to inform and possibly warn other potential consumers of my horrific experience with toyota of goldsboro. on august 11, 2008, I took my toyota corolla 1999 in for my annual maintenance (as a professor, I commute 100 miles daily) for the beginning of the academic year. I felt particularly sure that I needed a tune up because the car was taking off a bit slower than usual, which was my only complaint. allow me to regress a minute, this car is my third toyota - the second one i've purchased new & from this very dealership. consequently, I feel rather qualified to speak on the reliability of toyotas. they have always served me well; and, I have been able to confidently drive them well into the 200, 000 mile mark. such had been the case with this car, it had 157, ooo miles; had never given me any major problems; and was yet "running strong." I had my regular maintenance services performed religiously. I mean, this was the least I could do, because after all, the car took care of me. so, while in my hometown visiting family, I placed my car in the supposedly trusted care of the dealership to perform the tune up. well, the assistant service manager, frank olivieri, suggested that I also get a fuel injecting cleaning & a transmission fuel change ("the transmission fuel looks dark," he says). so, in the best interest of the car and upon his recommendations, I comply, spending about three hundred dollars.in the end, I could not get the car to my sister's place from the dealership before the transmission had failed. when I took the car back, to my surprise, the service manager, phillip hill, tells me that the transmission has died. his explanation further informs me that the transmission fuel change initiated the transmission failure, which was going to happen eventually. I rather it had happened eventually. so, did the mechanics see any concerns while performing the transmission service and neglected to inform me? better yet, why wasn't I warned of any possible repercussions or potentiality of such a tragedy? to top it off, the covering under the hood of the car had been burnt and the parts (around the motor) looked badly manipulated (it certainly didn't look like "my car"). and most disappointingly, they lied. the receipt states that I requested the transmission fuel change (unlike the other services) when in actually it was recommended.in the end, toyota of goldsboro "tore up" my car.
Ultimately and unfortunately, I share this to save anybody else my experience, because if I only would have known...
