Molar extraction successful, however remaining painful cracked tooth with exposed nerve and 3 cavities would not be addressed until going through a painful 2 session deep cleaning which I adamantly declined. I will go to a periodontist when I want to have this diagnosis addressed. Given the unaddressed other issues, I would not be able to tolerate this invasive procedure. I've had this done before, and I'll never have it done again. Upon further research both pro and con regarding this deep cleaning, one should be able to have a choice. There is always a possibility of bacteria getting into the blood stream, and as a heart patient I prefer not to take the risk. I was told I could go to another dentist for a regular cleaning by consultant Lindsey and bring her back proof that this was done before the other very painful issues could be fixed. She would not schedule any appointments until I followed these Draconian orders, she spoke so loudly and passive aggressive the whole office and patients in waiting room could hear the whole conversation (quite embarrassing)
Dental assistant laquisha commented and or diagnosed me with anxiety, suggested that I needed anti-anxiety medication. She did not identify herself (had to ask the front office what her name was) nor did she explain what she was doing when generating a 3d image of my teeth. I had to ask her to stop tapping on my teeth halfway in because she was so rough and was hurting me. That was when she diagnosed me with anxiety! When clearly I was in pain.
I left that visit in tears, stating I would think about it. The next day, I reached out to the corporate office with these concerns and complaints. I think her name was Jackie, and she was very compassionate and agreed with me that this was unacceptable. I asked her to send me that narrative of our conversation, she said she would but that didn't happen, then I get a phone call from the regional manager days later stating that the deep cleaning is Dr. Otties standard of care, that she would speak with him and address the issues that I had with a dental assistants' diagnosis of anxiety and me needing medication and the intimidation of Lindsey forcing a medical procedure that I declined and bringing her proof of teeth cleaning before scheduling immediate painful dental issues. The regional manager gave 2 options. 1 sign liability paperwork which would have been fine (and that I had suggested) or seeking another dentist. She called the statesvill office and Dr ottie refused option 1
So really there were no options but to start from ground zero again with another dentist. I'm left with serious painful issues which now have been delayed and in my opinion constitutes medical malpractice
Desired outcome: getting out of pain, stop forcing/intimidating unwanted medical procedures, stop letting dental assistants diagnosestop breaking hippa laws by talking so loudly that all could hear personal information
