Holiday Inn - customer service/ billing

I stayed in room 1807 on 11-4-19 to 11-8-19. When i checked in I was unaware that I had to have 100.00 on a card to check in. I surrendered my card with all the information for it but they would not work with me and were very rude that they didn't care about my situation. As I was there for training I was able to get my Supervisor to put her card up. OKAY. When my room was cleaned on 11-6-19 it was a substandard job and they didn't resupply everything but I let it go. I had to use extra towels because instead of replacing the shower doors they just put up a shower curtain with a small strip on the floor, so there was a 6 inch gap which allowed water to pour on the bathroom floor when you showered. There was no tub so it was unavoidable. So, the main reason of my complaint. When I checked out on 11-8-19 I asked for a receipt. I was told I didn't need one. When I insisted I needed a receipt the clerk insisted I didn't need one. What they eventually gave me was just a paper with my name and the Holiday Inn letterhead, no other information on it. A week later my Supervisor's card was charged 280.00. 250.00 for "smoking in the room charge" and 30.00 for "a hole burned in the sheet". When I called billing "Lynda" referred me to the billing manager. I explained to him that I DID NOT smoke in the room. He said "we found cigarette butts in the TRASH can so we charged you the smoking fee. Can you prove you didn't smoke?". I explained that I knew going in that New York was a smoke free city and that if he checked with the night clerk they could verify that I went outside to smoke, even at 03:00. I explained that what he saw in the TRASH CAN was the result of "field stripping a cigarette". I was in the service, and when you smoked where there wasn't an ashcan you butted out the cigarette or stripped off the paper and tobacco and then threw the filters in a TRASH CAN when you got to one. the idea was that the filter won't break down so you threw that in a trash can. I explained that when I got back to my room at night I emptied my pockets into the TRASH CAN and didn't think any more about it. He charged me anyway. As far as the "burn in the sheet", after further discussion the "burn" turned into a "stain", which turned into dirt. If they want to mail me the sheet I will wash it and return it cleaner than it was, but I thought washing sheets was part of the service. Bottom line is that my Supervisor was wrongly charged for bogus charges and Corporate should refund her card. She also wants me to point out that when she demanded an itemized receipt she was given a receipt which was not signed by anyone. Please rectify this unfortunate situation. All The Best. Joseph F. Klein Jr.
