I signed up with planet fitness in december 2019. On january 2020, I came into planet fitness in utica, ny in person requested cancelation of my membership. The front desk personnel said they will take care of it. Don't worry about a thing. I walked out thinking it was so nice of them. February came. I saw a charge on my bank statement. I visited planet fitness in person again. Asked them why they charged me. She told me that there might be a mistake. They will take care of it. Same thing happened in march. I visited planet fitness again requested membership to be cancelled. He said they will take care of it. Then came pandemic. I didn't look at my bank statement until october 2020. They withdrawn money out of my bank for all these months. I was so mad. I called my sister and complained to her about it. She told me to visit them in person and request a written statement that my membership cancel. I visited them in person. The front desk told me that they will freeze my account and I don't have a worry about it. I kept asking them a written statement of membership cancellation. He said they will take care of it and I don't have to worry about it. After an hour back and forth, I was so frustrated. I walked out of the facility. I called my sister again. She told me to walk back in there and demanding a cancellation statement. I went back in and got my membership cancellation after another 20 minutes and requested to talk to the person in charge. I finally got it. I called the planet fitness corporate and complaint about it a day ago. They took down my information and stating that I can't help me because of individual own the franchise. They will forward my complaint to the utica, ny head office. Utica, ny head office will call me a few hours. Utica, ny head office called me and said that they can't refund my money. But they will charge me for requesting cancelled after the due date plus $58 buyout. I think this is a scam and fraud. She told me that I came in and used the facility in january, february, and march. I told her those were the time I came in requested membership cancellation. Why do I visit the facility only one time a month? I am trusting people with their words and respecting their business. After this incident, I don't think I will trust people again. This company is a crook, scam, and fraud. They train their employees to be a crook like them.
