Hello,
I am writing to inform you of an incident that occurred at the Boardman GetGo located at 133 Boardman Poland Rd. Boardman OH 44512 around 5:00 pm on 1/1/2020. I filled up my gas tank with my Fuel Perks and went inside to buy chewing tobacco. I must have set my phone down on the counter when I took my wallet out and forgot it there. I left the GetGo, went to another store and realized I had left my phone. I used my wife's phone to locate my iPhone which brought me right back to the GetGo. When I pulled in my iPhone automatically re-connected to my car Bluetooth, indicating it was still on the premises. I went back in to the GetGo and asked the cashier who checked me out if she had seen my phone, she said no, along with the other cashier who also said no. I also asked to speak with the manager, who also informed me a phone was not turned in. I checked the parking lot and the trash can at the pump I was at as well. The employee who was emptying the trash told me he had not seen the phone, but he was also inside behind the counter when I was previously checking out.
With little help from the employees and proof that my phone was still on the property, I called the Boardman Police Department to file a report of a lost or stolen phone. The police department informed me that they would be in contact with Giant Eagle Get Go to obtain the store surveillance footage to review if my phone was taken by an employee or other person(s), or if it had not ever been on the counter, etc.
I am a regular Giant Eagle and GetGo customer and was not pleased to have had the experience I did at the new Get Go in Boardman. I was seraching for my phone on my own, and then with the police and filing a report for over and hour while my wife, 3 year old son and 8 month old daughter also had to wait in the car during this process. My wife had to stay with me because i needed to use her phone to locate mine and contact the police department. I am also now out of pocket $270 to purchase a new phone, which would have been around $1, 000 if I had not had insurance. I am thankful I was able to purchase a new phone, because I do not have other means of communication (no land line, etc.), but this was an unexpected large cost that my family and I had to pay right out of pocket to get a new phone ASAP. I am requesting the Get Go cooperate with the Boardman Police department to have video surveillence reviewed to determine if my phone was stolen by a Get Go employee or lost on Get Go property.
