I’m a competitive endurance athlete, and have been for over 20 years. None of the employees are ever able to tell me what the thermostat is actually set at, but it is way too warm to get any type of quality cardio workout at the Latrobe, PA location. I know it’s at least 72, and likely warmer during busy times. Maybe most of your members equate sweating with getting a good workout, but that is not the case at all. You can sit in a sauna and sweat. Anyone who is actually paying attention to heart rate versus effort knows what I’m talking about. It’s actually incredibly unsafe to try and get in a high level workout here. This is coming from someone who loves running outside in 90-100 degree temps, and who once ran 75 miles straight in that kind of heat. Hot dry air blowing on your indoors is a whole other story, and not healthy on any level. If you want the area for weight lifting to be that warm, I get it, but the cardio area needs partitioned off and kept cooler for higher intensity workouts. You have all the weight equipment imaginable, so basically no limits on how hard someone can hit a strength session. The cardio machines are great too, it’s just the temperature being the limiting factor.
Desired outcome: Either keep the overall temperature cooler or create a partition for the cardio equipment, which is kept cooler than the weight area.I’ve seen this done other places and it’s a great solution.
