I went to Aspen dental since my new insurance had them as a innetwork provider.
I had a cracked tooth, I was told the tooth could not be saved and that it was an anchor tooth and would need removed and the rest of my bottom teeth would need removed for a bottom denture, saying they could not make a partial. They also said the upper denture i had would need replaced so they would be a "set" Figuring i had no choice, i was sent to their office manager who pushed me to get the Natural Lyte dentures. They charged me 999.00 for the uppers and 949.00 for the lowers,
They charged me 350.00 for their "immediate dentures" which my insurance didnt cover, They also charged 240.00 x 2 for Alveo per quadrand, which was explained as "bone smoothing" to promote a better healing and to clean up any bone chips from the extraction. They required a oral cancer screening that i was charged for as well. They charged extra since the dentist broke several of my teeth while extracting them. They stitched me up and sent me home with thier immediate denture and my new uppers, The quality of the uppers were terrible.. you can actually see through the plate in several places that it is so thin. The immediate denture was so thick and long, i had to return after the pain meds wore off to have it ground down. I also had to return to have 2 LARGE pieces of bone removed from protruding from my gums that were suppose to be prevented by the Alveo per quad charge. I went back for the relinings, complaining each time that it was too thick, didnt fit right, and caused pain. The fit was so bad, that once i sneezed and the botttoms flew out of my mouth and hit the ground and were damaged and had to be replaced with a set that fit even worse. Then came the billing problems. When i signed up for their 50/50 financing it stated the next payment was 30 days from when treatment began. only to get a statement saying "reciept due in 10 days " The statement arrived late, 5 days after the "statement date". I sent in my 50.00 payment. the next statement i got was late again i recieved it 5 days after the "statement date" it showed my previous 50.00 payment as recieved but now it asked for 100.00 saying they didnt recieve my payment when it SHOWED on the statement they credited it. I called them several times to get this resolved with the office manager, never got a call back. So we sent in 50.00 again since it showed they had recieved the first 50.00 and i had the check back from the bank to prove it.
The next statement comes. It now says Final request for payment they wanted 150.00 it showed the second 50.00 recieved and the date they cashed the check. I had the check back from the bank to prove it was cashed, called the manager who was always with a patient and would call me back, , which never did. So my wife sent in the 150.00, and we were now 2 payments ahead, they cashed the check. We never got the 4th statement only to find out, THEY TURN IT OVER TO COLLECTIONS ! I went into the office to meet with the office manager who told me there was nothing she could do, even though i had all the reciepts, and showed her the errors they made.
THEY THEN SUSPENDED MY TREATMENT UNTIL I PAID THE ENTIRE BALANCE ! I am stuck with the crappy upper denture and the lower dentures are still the "immediate classic denture" which was not what i paid for. They have not contacted me since paid them off to finish the work, not that i would let them near my mouth again at this point. I filed a complaint with the BBB and am currently filing a complaint with the PA Attorney General and have started filing a lawsuit against Aspen dental to recover all the charges they did to both me and my insurance company since my insurance will not cover me going to another dentist to finish getting the work done, I am also suing Aspen Dental for damaging my credit due to their improper billing, failure to complete their contract with me for the dentures, improper charges, fraud, and pain and suffering.

I'm buying all of this. Went to Aspen Dental recently in Marion, IL. I saw the dentist only long enough for him to tell me I needed either 60-70000 dollars worth of oral surgery or they could fit me for dentures. HE NEVER EVEN LOOKED IN MY MOUTH. I was then shuffled off to a room with the office manager who, as he told me, had not dental training whatsoever. He broke out a board full of dentures and did everything but ask me "What do I need to get these teeth in your mouth today." I was offered their 50/50 financing plan, but was told I had to decide right then if I was going to do it. When I said I didn't know if I would be able to come up with the initial 2600 payment, he told me to call him back later that afternoon with an answer. I called back and said I would more than likely be able to pay it, but not sure when. He said he would make a couple of calls and get back to me. Never did. Called two days later, asked to speak with him and was told he's not really their office manager, just helping out. Asked to speak to someone to get some answers about the estimate they gave me, told I would get a call back. Day five, no call yet. Going in tomorrow to get my chart. Kind of hoping it gets hostile.
Aspen Dental is what real dentists refer to as "McDonald's Dentistry". Their sole purpose is to fleece customers. If you go in for emergency work, they will attempt hard sales tactics to get you to buy the most expensive treatments they possibly can.
My wife left there in tears after going in just to get her crown fixed and we will never go back. Good luck to them.
