I have been a Loyal Michael's customer for YEARS! I've NEVER had any issues until this year!
At the newer location in Conroe TX, my experience has been less than pleasant to say the least with your establishment.
I have had my share of working retail stores, as a floor employee along with management, I have spoken to many district managers whom are also personal friends.
Proper Customer Service Overall has been completely neglected within the past few years. Your Store at this particular location along with the Michael's off Hw 45 N really took the cake.
Location - S Loop 336:
I went Into Michael's for supplies, as I typically do twice a month for my small business.
I have always noticed a bunch of fallen and damaged flowers all over the floor, I asked if they are to be thrown out and if so, may I have them. I also inquired about the damaged flowers at the bottom of the canisters and if they too were to be thrown in the trash. They kindly allowed me to take what was to be thrown away.
Expecting a floor employee to get a broom to sweep underneath the floral displays or at least hand me a broom, they did not. I spent the last hour or so on my hands and knees trying to reach under and scoop damaged flowers. The amount of flowers, dust and trash under the displays and within the canisters would shock you. I found a decent amount which, would make sense if no one ever really cleaned up the floral department on a regular.
As I went to checkout, I saw who appeared to be the store manager, she did not look too happy with the bundle I had and was given permission for.
About two weeks later I went back In for supplies. Peaked at the floral department, picked up what was damaged on the floor (just a few) went to checkout with my materials. Again, asked about the flowers that I found, the young cashier said that the manager was unsure if I could take them due to a "Lady" that came in and searched for fallen flowers and she never purchased anything, that the manager didn't like it. I said "Oh really, well.. What if you print a label out and sell this handful to me for $1" again, she responded with "the manager said she isn't sure.. this lady took so much and you can't just do that"
Here's the deal... one, I felt humiliated for doing what I was given approval for! Two, these flowers are thrown to the TRASH! The flowers which are mainly made from polyester (carbon-intensive non-renewable recourse) which is NOT BIO- DEGRADABLE! In hand, effecting the eco-system.
With my own small business, I save and find a Use EVERY PIECE of MATERIAL! I do NOT throw away anything that can be repurposed (you know, Recycling!) knowing that certain materials are being thrown out from your establishment among many others is absolutely disgraceful!
This location along with the 45 N location, the employees and the two female managers were completely and utterly rude! I have given your store HUNDREDS TO THOUSANDS of dollars and the ONE time I did not make a purchase and gathered what I was allowed to, became a BIG DEAL!?
Your store manager(s) feel better and prefer Polyester flowers to be thrown in the TRASH? God forbid someone to repurpose them! Even when offered to PAY FOR THEM!
Which would actually save YOU money rather than losing it to the TRASH!
Second Complaint: Same Location S Loop
I went Into Michael's with my husband and three children.
I walked down the isle in the front making my way to the register, holding my 3 year old daughter on my hip. While looking at the cluttered displays a metal shelf hook snagged my daughters neck. The hook was obviously way too long for that display and it cut my daughter! She started screaming in pain, an employee was standing right there and did absolutely nothing! When i walked to the register, I mentioned what had happened and how the hook was too long, sticking out far enough into the isle and cut my daughters neck! Rather than being treated like a human being, your employees responded rather annoyed! I was Not given a single genuine apology and absolutely NO empathy for my daughter who has a disability! DISGUSTING!
I will NO LONGER support your store and I will be taking my business elsewhere!
