Extra Space Storage

I first moved to this storage space from U-Haul back in 2015. It was assured storage then. The management and staff was very helpful, friendly and assuring. There were plenty of carts, full size dumpsters and there was security during off hours. Their rates were very competitive.

About a year - 1 1/2 years later Extra Space bought from Assured Storage. QoS went downhill fast. The first thing they did was remove all the full sized dumpsters, reduced the number of dumpsters in 1/2 and then padlocked the dumpsters so customers could not access. I went to the office to ask where the full size dumpsters were and why the current ones were locked. The employee told me that the full sized dumpsters cost more and the current dumpsters were for employees only. I asked, if I rent an apartment, are the dumpsters only for the employees? Not long after they raised the rates. After the first raised rate, they had a break in with many units vandalized. It appeared to be more vandelism than an interest in thefts. They used a sledge hammer or mallet to break the locking bar so that the units could be accessed. Mine was broken into, but nothing was stolen that I could tell. There were about 30 units that had been broken into. They repaired all the units, but there was no communication if the perpetrators had been caught or how they got in. No discounts for the renters. Nope! They raised the rent 2-3x a year. I went from paying about $160/month to now $320.

I guess I have motivation to get rid of crap and not give them my business anymore...or referals.
