I received a mailing for a "Black Book Ultimate Buy Back Event". Said maiing was addressed to me by name and offered 120% buyback of my 2003 Hyndai Tiburon. The value was assessed at $5, 514 and the "offer" was $6, 617. I called the listed number and was told this was a legitimate offer, but could be adjusted slightly. Upon arriving and after an hour of dancing with the salesman I was told the real offer was only $2, 000. Il left the dealership and went to Carmax. Carmax offered $3, 000. The Ron Carter "event" was nothing more than a scam. I should have known better. I still have the promotional mailing in my possession.

If you walk into Ron Carter's dealership, expect promises with no follow-through as well as straight out lies. We agreed to a higher price for a vehicle because we were told there were new tires as well as tinting on the vehicle. Both of which were not on the car when we got the key. These people lie to your face to get you to buy and then offer to let you buy the "extras" from them in the end. Don't waste your time here, unless you voice record all conversations.
I received the same letter, I am not going to make any such ugly trip. Thank you for posting guys. Helped me a lot.
You are not alone. They sent me the same fraudulent advertisement multiple times saying they would buy back my Hyundai at 13, 478 but changed the offer to 7100 after I made a 35 miles trip to the dealership. When I asked the general manager why they did not put down "offer price may vary" on the advertisement, he said they have done buyback with that price. When I ask him to show me, he said "We are dealers. you know? Are you calling me a liar?" I said, no, i just want to clarify things, He then went on to become rude on me, saying "yes, you are calling me a liar, I don't even know you. I don't want you to be my customer. Very bad customer service. It costs me toll charge, gasoline, and 5 hours of time for a very unpleasant experience. I am just wondering how many more customers have been tricked by this scam from Ron Carter Hyundai, Friendswood-Clear lake. They owe us an apology.
