Today I came to my storage unit with my moving guy to actually move out, but I could not get in. The front door had a sign on it that said 'OUT OF ORDER'. So I went to the office to see if they had a way of getting me in. No one was there at 1:30 in the afternoon. There was a sign that said they would return in one hour. So, my moving guy and I went for a walk and came back in one hour. I asked the lady at the front desk to let me into my unit and was told that she was waiting for the technician to show up and did not know when he would be there. Until he showed up and fixed the door, she had no way of letting me in.
This information should have been posted on the door and texted and/or emailed to every tenant in the building at the moment they realized that the front door was broken.. I wasted two hours of my time and my moving guy's time when all of that could have easily be avoided by the staff simply EMAILING every person who has a storage unit in the building. that way me and countless others who showed up and could not get in would not have wasted their time! Your staff has absolutely no consideration for your customers whatsoever. I did not even so much as receive a kind apology from the lady at the front desk for having wasted my time.
Secondly staff lunch hours should be the same time every day so that customers know ahead of time that no one will be there during that HOUR to help them. This lady
ALSO, I am moving out due to excessive rate increases on my unit. My rent has been raised by $90 per month in the past year. that is ridiculous. I have looked at your financials and see that you are making billions on us poor folks to have to use storage. I will never use Public Storage again for the rest of my life and neither will my friends or clients.
Desired outcome: an apology and training of employees to treat customers like they are important
