So, we decided to give VeePN a try and signed up for their monthly service. At first, everything seemed to be working fine, but at the end of the first month, our service suddenly cut off. We naively tried to cancel the monthly subscription and signed up for the yearly subscription instead, because we really liked the service.

However, the next day, our monthly service renewed and we were charged twice - once for the monthly subscription and once for the yearly subscription. We were not happy about this and contacted customer service to ask for a refund. Unfortunately, they refused to refund either subscription. They told us that they couldn't reverse the monthly subscription because we were already using it, and they couldn't refund the yearly subscription because it wasn't the original purchase. We were shocked when they explicitly acknowledged that they were aware they charged us twice, but still refused to refund us. They even had the audacity to tell us that it was our fault because we had consented to both purchases.

Despite this unpleasant experience, we have to admit that the service itself works well. We were able to connect to different servers and access content that was previously unavailable to us. However, we would caution anyone considering using VeePN to be aware of their dishonest practices. They will try to screw you out of whatever they can, so be careful when signing up for their service.

I gotta say, I'm not one to nitpick about small things, but I gotta call out Veepn on their product description. I signed up for their "1 month plan" on November 12th, 2022, and it clearly said on my account that the service would expire on December 12th, 2022. But guess what? I got charged again on December 12th, and there was no way to cancel the subscription on their website. I had to go through PayPal to cancel it, and even then it was listed as "IT Research" instead of Veepn, so it took me a while to figure out what the heck was going on.

I tried to get in touch with their customer service to get a refund for the extra charge, but they told me that their terms-of-service say that all purchases are recurring. If that's the case, then why even bother listing an expiry date in the first place? After taking more money out of my account, my new "expiry date" is January 12th, 2023. What's the point of having an expiry date if the subscription doesn't actually expire on that day?

Honestly, it's not even about the money at this point. It's just worrying to think that there might be other people out there who are getting charged continuously for a one-time purchase.

And to top it all off, the VPN didn't even work properly. I ended up switching to Nord VPN instead, which worked like a charm.
