I worked for that horrible place and finally quit. They break so many laws that I was actually afraid of getting a lawsuit myself. They force employees to act like robots and not help people - they monitor how we talk to people and if we're too long on the phone trying to help someone, we got penalized for it. Employees take pay cuts, cuts in hours, bonuses, days off - yes they scam their employees too, not only consumers. Check all your foreclosure/repo paperwork; they made a huge mistake in 2009 during the CIT conversion and there were a LOT of homes, mobile homes, RV's, boats, etc. that were repossessed without following the necessary procedures/laws (letters, notifications, etc). Don't walk, RUN away from this lender!

I was part of CIT and got sold to vericrest at the highest point of the foreclosures. During mediation their lawyer only showed up for the first meeting. After 4 months they started the foreclosure and at the last moment had to reopen mediation. There lawyer told me that they don't participate in the Obama plans because they didn't except money from the government. After reminding them that CIT, as one of the largest banks bailed out, and they are a subsidiary and they did except money- well they had no other choice but to do something for me. They locked me in @ 4% and reduced principal by 100, 000..they lied and deferred it. Now being forced to refinance through first alliance bank. But vericrest is settling for 60% of loan amount but at 6.5%.
Any thoughts on first alliance?

They foreclosed on my home of 10 years, last September. I was broke and depressed and just let them have it and moved away from the only place I've called home; I'm now living in a small apt and my credit has been completely destroyed.

But I know now that they broke MANY laws regarding the process, including calling me on a Sunday morning to tell me they'd denied my application for modification (after weeks and weeks of sending them stuff back and forth) and they were putting the house for auction the next morning. I've lost my home, but I want to be compensated and I'm going to take this on in court. PLEASE, and advice is appreciated.

It has come to my attention that Vericrest changed its name to Caliber Home Loans located in Oklahoma City OK. Vericrest Financial has purportedly purchased debt from Home Funding Direct when they were shut down in California. Vericrest is supposed to be a division of Alliance but neither Alliance, Home Funding Direct, or Vericrest appear in my County Deed and Records office database. When a loan is "sold" from one lender to another there must be an Assignment of Deed of Trust or a Substitution of Trustee and Deed of Reconveyance. Neither one of these pretender lenders appear in the County Records under the Assignments section. I wrote to Vericrest demanding, via a "Qualified Written Request" under RESPA USC 12 Sub sec.2601 that VeriCrust prove they are legally entitled to services the debt. The 30 day deadline for them to respond has passed so I began researching my property records and discovered that my loan has been discharged since Home Funding Direct collapsed in 2007. The amount I currently owe is ZERO.
Somehow the secondary "lender" simply sold the data to Vericrest who sent me a letter directing me to begin making my payments to them. I have been paying them $1.400.oo a month for seven years when they were not a legal party of interest entitled to collect the debt in the first place. So I have begun escrowing my payments into a separate account in a different bank and sent a final notice demanding Validation of the Debt confirmation. They cannot provide that of course so the bs mill will kick-in but next week I'm filing a Quiet Title action in Court in Tennessee and they can kiss my ash. Follow the money folks it leads you right to the culprit every time.

Working with Caliber Home Loans was a complete debacle. I had a new hire who didn't know what he was doing. There should have been oversight.
Working with Caliber Home Loans has been an absolute nightmare. I was purchasing a townhome from this lender. The agent assigned to me lied to me from the start. He was going to get me a lower interest rate than another home loan co. NOT SO. Actually it ended up being higher. The agent had no idea what he was doing. When I gave him all of my documents, I asked if there was going to be an issue with my income. He assured me there were no problems. Four days before closure, I was informed they needed more documentation and my income was an issue. My agent was fired or "resigned" 1 day before the closing. At that time, the company asked documentation that I had already provided. Apparently, my agent misplaced numerous documents. They also wanted me to give them $5000 more for the down payment. I was not willing to provide them with more documents nor more cash. I lost my $1000 earnest money because we couldn't close on the 27th. I paid $400 for a new appraisal. If Steve had bothered to look at my income ratio, there shouldn't have been a new appraisal because I would not have qualified. I gave the agent my debit card to pay for it. When I pulled up my bank account on August 23rd, they had debited another $50 my account without my permission. When I questioned my agent, he explained it was expedite my appraisal. I believe it is illegal to try and jump ahead of other buyers to get appraisal services. I canalled my account out of concern they would debit another bogus fee.

There was an executive assistant who tried to salvage the mess...she was helpful. However, due to the lies and lack of communication I had no trust they could accomplish anything they stated they would.

DO NOT enter into a contract with Caliber Home Loans

I have been fighting with this company for years - I just paid off my loan (about 48, 000 when I add in interest more than I should have) - I would really love to hear from the initiator of this post - I sent a private message - I'm not done - I'm not quitting - they think we will just go away because it's such a beating...if ANYONE has got this resolved - PLEASE message me!
