They signed me up to get these magazines without asking me they just called me and told me that i was getting 5 magazines and they just take the payments out of my bank account and i haven't even gotten any of the magazines yet and it has been over two months. If i am paying for something since they are taking the money right out of my bank account i should damn well be getting something for it and i have gotten nothing i am not pleased with this company. They don't deliver what they say there going to.

Viking magazine is a scam! I was told i pay the way that work out the best for me, weekly, every two our ounce a month. I never received the magazines. When they began to call saying owe $59.00. When i told them i would not pay just to cancel. I couldn't my 14days where up even if i never receive the magazines. They took money off my prepaid debit card i didn't even have money on. Now owe them money which is crap! Now they won't stop calling me. They said no phone calls ever to worry about. Everything was suppose to be thru mail.Yea right! Do not get get sucked in!

They are Liars! About everything just get your money. You don't get the magazines for months. They make you pay anyways, you try to cancel they won' let you. They say u can cancel any time. Now u can't its been 14days. U don't ever get called, everything done thru mail, they won't stop calling. Somehow i have a five year contract with them. Which i never agreed to. Somebody needs to investigate. You get a call saying u get a year free of 5 magazines complimentary. SAY NO TO VIKING MAGAZINE! Thats how they get you and rip you of. Now they won't leave me alone and still finding ways to steal my money.

With my first phone call I was told I would get five complimentary mags and a diamond watch which would come in the mail. Mine for trying these magazines. They suckered me into this one years subscription for a low price on a trial basis. I was totally getting the wrong magazines all together! I told them I wanted to cancel my subscription and they said they will turn it into collections! They said I signed up for 5 years and I owe over 800.00! This is fraud! Someone please tell me who I can turn them into! I have a family to take care of I can't afford to be taken advantage of. How can people sleep at night that work for them knowing they're steeling from people making an honest living!

Ok Viking magazine is not a scam, they are actually very upfront and legitimate. Myself being a former employee from the verification department (the third phone call you recieved from them) i have come accross a lot of the same complaints whilst employed by that company. Yes it does start out at 3.45/week and goes to 59.80/month. A common mistake people make is they forget that the subscriptions are for 5 years! or 60 months. every person is contacted 3 times in a row by a representative and everything is clearly explained! The whole purpose of the third phone call is run through the billing and make sure that everything is understood, at which point the customer must agree and show that they understand! Viking magazine is totally a legitamate company, people just choose to listen to certain things and tune out the stuff they think is unimportant, then when they get billed they want to blame the company because they weren't listening. Don't bash or discredit a good company because of your ignorance, next time before you decide to give out personal information be sure that you understand what your doing before you do.

As far as the magazines not arriving, also in the verification (3rd) phone call you recieved they state clearly that your magazines will take approximately 8-12 weeks to arrive.

I am sorry former employee, but I tend to agree with what the others are saying. I am a new client and after waiting and waiting for the magazines I only got one magazine. When I called to find out what happened with the magazines that they never arrived. I told the person in charge of my account that if they were. Out delivering my magazines, then I want a credit. The lady treated me like I was a thief. After talking for quite some time, she asked me to call the post office. I called today and didn’t resolve anything. Tomorrow, I am going to call them and ask for the list of magazines that I was supposed to get and write each magagazine a letter explaining my situation. If I am not going to get credit, then I want my magazines.

Has anyone found a way to get out of this contract without it turning into collection? Has anyone ever contacted a lawyer about this?

i have a subscription to viking mjag and i think it is great. people who complain about getting the wrong mags just need to call the company and have the mag changed to something else and they do it. they even tell u u can change the mags any time u want.

I am becoming aware that Viking is misleading people and it seems to be getting worse. As far as the worker who posted the above, your bashing means nothing more than to back up the others who say they get no cooperation out of Viking, you've called them esentially foolish for doing business w/your (past) company. I, also, don't believe this is your past, but rather your current employer. Otherwise, why would you have left such a wonderful, manipulating company?
I can assure you all that Viking is well-versed in their responses and they will have an answer for every argument/point that you bring up. Report them to the BBB and to the FTC, then something will hopefully get done before this legal scam gets worse. Take the time to make the calls and report them to the proper agencies to ruin their reputation, as they are trying to ruin your credit.
It is bogus and it is a scam, but futile to try to argue with Viking.

They record you agreeing to all the terms of the contract, and they explain the entire contract in plain english. There is no hidden fine print. If the FTC or BBB does investigate all Viking has to do is play the tapes of you agreeing to the contract, which if you were charged you agreed to. People just need to pay more attention a contract is a serious deal, some of the people ### here are the same people who had no idea what kind of mortgage they got into, they just heard "zomg I can get a house for $5.95 a month!" and neglected to pay attention when the actual terms were explained, (30yr, 15yr, ARM, Interest Only, Baloon, etc..) and so they get forclosed on after the introductory period. If you REALLY like magazines Viking offers a great service, you get magazines cheap, and you can change the magazines you receive anytime you want BUT YOU ARE LOCKED IN FOR 5 YEARS. If you arn't a big consumer of magazines this 5 year contract might seem like a scam, you can save yourself by paying attention and not agreeing to it, buy your magazines off the store shelf. I do not work for Viking Magazine Service, I did for 2 days and quit. I quit because I was absolutely amazed how far our country has slid down the drain intellectually. Who in the hell would pay $900 for magazines!? Some people will enter into a long term contract without thinking for what equates to a Big Mac value meal. Once you say free Big Mac they zone out and start agreeing without paying attention. So before you complain check the mirror...any big mac in your teeth? Stupid should hurt.

I was contacted by Viking MagizineService, they wanted to send me some magizines, however, i never gave them any bank account numbers; nor will i! People, you need to start using your damn brains, you don't give out any information over the phone! If you have been ripped off by these idoits, don't sit there and wait for some else to get help; do it yourself! If what i'm telling you makes you mad, good, you need to get mad... at them! Should i be contacted by them again, i'm going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. You should never have to pay for something that was supposed to be yours, as a "Thank You."

I am paying for magazines that i didn't order. I have called on numerous occassions & had to deal with very rude customer service. They can't find anything on my name, my address or phone number were i have ordered through them. They tell me that the magazines are being sent to a diasha wallace but using my credit card number. my bank has faxed numerous documents & still no results. They keep charging me 59 dollars a month & i am getting upset that they wont make restitution to me when they know i didn't order. The bank has finally gotten involved & marked any activity from this company as fraud & is returning me my money & is going to deal with company for me.

I work for Viking Magazine as a closer/ supervisor (the second phone call you get) . I start every customer of mine off with magazines they choose off the list and then I explain the billing it is done 4 months at a time for the first 15 months of the service leaving the last 45 months without a bill that way if you need to skip a month theres no charge or finance charges. You can't cancel because we pre pay for your 60 mos of magazines and you are told that as well. This is all recorded of the customers agreeing to the terms. Every customer gets the agreement in writin in 3-5 business days and it clearly states no cancellation. We pay ahead and do a payment plan for each customer. I also set up the billing however the customer plans to pay I insert that in the file they check to make sure the payment method is valid before writing out a check to pay for your magazines for 60 mos on top of what ever promo is going on which is currently a 500 dollar shopping spree LEGIT as well... After I fill out a file on each individual basic info just like your cable company asks you to give... You are getting magazines delivered for about a dollar or two per copy where they run 5 bucks at the store so it is a great deal... After I talk with each customer they get a 3rd call from the verification department and they make sure each customer is clear and record them agreeing to the terms... People are lying if they think its a scam everything is clearly explained and they pay with their debit or credit card or bank acct... They pick their own billing days each month and get everything in writing... I feel bad for the people who agree and then try to break a legally binding agreement however we are the best magazine company in the country for many reasons and just because you dont want to hold your end of the bargain dont act like our company is scamming you. If we write out a check locking in a low magazine rate guaranteed to never increase over five years and then you refuse to pay your bill then you are the one trying to get over on our company not the other way around! Don't sign up for a magazine service if you don't plane to pay your bill as scheduled. Your cell phone company locks you into a contracted agreement and if you dont pay that goes to collections too does that make them scams? NO . We're a magazine service if you're interested in having a service in your home then plan to pay the bill too. NO free rides here.

Viking Magazine Service called to offer me a subscription plan to a few magazines.
After several months, I decided that I was not getting maximum use out the subscriptions. I contacted Viking to cancel my subscription. They informed me that I can not cancel the subscription without fear of penalty such as my account with them being put into collection! If I had ordered these publications directly from the publishers, then I would be able to cancel the order...however Viking only allows for a cancellation within the first 14 days...I will be writing the publishers letting them know that associating their brands with this type of behavior is no way to develop reader loyalty.

FYI... I used to manage a magazine company; the above statement by 'supervisor' is a lie, the magazines are not "pre-paid", they're paid for on a spread with the clearing house at a fraction of what you're being charged. it is a scam, people are 'strong armed' into a bogus contract and then threatened with "this will go on your credit record" blah, blah, blah... if you decide to cancel. Well believe me, go ahead and cancel, call your credit card company or your bank and stop the automatic payments. They will not report you to any credit bureau no matter how many times they tell you they will. In fact when they say they're going to report you just say, good... i look forward to it, and if you ever call here again I'm calling the police... ha, ha, ha. The whole business model is the epitome of a win/lose sale... the company wins, the customer loses; these types of telemarketing scams are dying a slow death and will hopefully soon be a thing of the past... unfortunately not soon enough.
