Vultr is a pretty cool VPS provider, I gotta say. They got their stuff together and they're not trying to rip you off with crazy prices like some other guys out there. Been using Vultr for my corporate sites for a couple of years now. I've tried them all - 1&1, Siteground, Digital Ocean, Azure, Amazon, Linode, and OVH. But I must say, Vultr is the best. Especially for sites where you are technical and still want a GUI.

The new servers, High Frequency Compute, are really nice and fast. The price is great too. I switched over from the regular cloud ones to this and really think it's worth the little bit more in terms of price. I also like that you can get Plesk for free for 3 domains. I have the paid one, but it's so great being able to control your server. Unlike places like Siteground, where every day there is a new error or some kind of issue with people connecting to your site, and you cannot fix it yourself but have to talk to support.

If you're shopping for a new host, I highly recommend trying Vultr out before putting your site into production. I think you'll be happy with the results.

When it comes to website hosting, it's important to find a company that has reasonable policies and won't shut down your site at the first sign of trouble. That's why I was disappointed to learn about Vultr's zero-tolerance DMCA policy. It's just not realistic to expect website owners to be perfect at preventing copyright infringement, especially when there are so many users and files to monitor.

I read an article on Techdirt about a website called Adland that had to shut down because of Vultr's response to a DMCA notice from Bridgestone Tires. Instead of giving Adland a chance to fix the problem, Vultr perma-banned the site from their network and gave them just 24 hours to migrate to a new server. This seems like an extreme reaction to just one DMCA notice.

I understand that companies need to protect themselves from liability, but this kind of self-copyright-enforcement is going too far. It's like getting banned from YouTube after just one copyright strike instead of three. And not all DMCA notices are legitimate – some are sent in error or as a form of censorship or extortion.

Other companies have similar policies that are overly-chilled, like Google banning the search term "kodi" because it's "associated with piracy" even though Kodi itself is legal. And ProFreeHost bans all "torrent" files even when they're not infringing copyright.

Overall, I think Vultr's zero-tolerance DMCA policy is unreasonable and could lead to innocent websites being shut down. I hope they reconsider their approach and give website owners a fair chance to fix any issues before taking such drastic action.
