They didn't finish the work and left
I found ad about Weatherseal Roofing in my letter box. I read it and decided that it is sign to make roofing works at last. The total sum I paid them was $5400. I paid them half beforehand and another part they asked me to pay a week before finishing the work. They didn’t finish the work and left.
Credit Agreement
Hi, my parents have been conned by a Weatherseal sales rep. My dad received a sales call re new doors and advised the sales person it was something he was considering but not at that present time. Within 30 mins of hanging up the phone there was a sales rep at the door, My parents did say that they where interested in new doors but wanted to look about for the best deal, my parents asked her how much and she then went in to detail about all the different deals available. She advised my parents that the total price would be £2910, which no one in there right mind would pay. The woman asked how much my dad could afford and he said £12 per week, my parents are on a pension and my father has mental health problems. They fitted the doors in less than a week (obviously not allowing for the 14 day cooling off period), now they have received there paperwork and they are paying a one off fee of £200 and then 95 payments of 66.69, which i have been told amounts to over £6000. Can anyone please give me some advice, in the meantime i will be going to see lawyers with my parents.
I also got cold called from weatherseal and ended up agreeing a credit agreement for two windowsover a year ago since when I am paying about £40 a month for one and £29 a month for another. I recently got a annual statement and was amazed to discover that of the £40 odd a month for the one on;y about £3 is paing off the debt and the rest is interest sio I now owe more than I did originally. I suppose I should have taken advice before agreeing biut it is a bit much when you take out an agreement to pay X amount and pay approx 500 and a year later you owe more than you did originally. the salesman came out with all sorts of answers as to how long it would take to pay off and that was calculated as it would have been had all the payments been subtracted form the total not as a figure of about £3 to the principle and the rest interest, especially as the figure I had to p;ay had interest added on to the total price of the windows, I will be chasing this up but I am just warning anyone who reads this to get the figures and check them with some one who knows what they are doing before signing up. another thing to watch for is their insurance, I was led to believe I was paying a one off fee of £90 for each for insurance to cover any damage and it turnes out they take a yearly £90
I also took a financial agreement from Barclays Partner Finance, recommended by the Weatherseal salesman, for supply and fitting of windows and doors. After making almost £2000 in payments over the past 12 months I now owe £33more than the original amount. On requesting a settlement figure I was told that I would have to pay £275.12 over and above the current balance to clear the account. The details of the actual amount that would be charged in interest was never mentioned to me all that was stressed was the great deal we would get if we cleared the account after 6 months. Please ask for specific figures from any salesman and not just an APR
my mother was mis- sold a burglar alarm and i got her out of it by complaining direct to the financial ombudsman and the finance company - who were great and put pressure on weatherseal. i also contacted the citizens advice bureau and the office of fair trading - not so much help but it looks good in the letter. good luck

Unsolicited calls
I am sick and tired of receiving unsolicited calls from this company. These calls from a large variety of people any time of day 7 days a week. No matter how many times I tell them to take me off their list - they keep calling. This is causing domestic problems and any company should not be allowed to intrude on any member of the public in the quest for Sales
Pay to get faults fixed
I had 4 windows and a door installed by this horrendous company. As per many reviews I have sadly only since read I got pressured by the bullying non stop repetative sales blabber. Don't fall for it, in fact even better do not invite this company into your home. It's like an old vampire tale, once you permit them to come into your home they are free to enter your life and bleed you dry financially, emotionally and destroy your faith in ever having windows and doors fitted again. I have since learned how to fit them and fitted my new back door and kitchen window myself with no great hassle, custom built and for a mere fraction of the price. To give you an idea I had a custom built window the same Veka standard, better quality it turns out than weatherseal though and it cost me £245 to have made and £50 in fittings for me to fit. Weatherseal charge you about £1, 000 per unit no matter what size if you have 5 units the price will be about £5k if you have six units even though the sixth is small it will be about £6k.
Customer service? what customer service? One of my windows would not lock properly so I phoned, only to be told they were short of staff? so it would take some time to get back to me .. by this they meant weeks and me repeatedly calling them time and time again, but eventually after weeks of hassle and stress they fixed it. That's what happens IN warranty.
10 year Guarantee? Well now is it really? Since the day my front door was fitted the hall just seemed cooler sometimes in winter actually cold. I wish the alarm bell in my head had rung louder because roughly 2 years after fitting I found why, the wind was blowing cold air in through the hinge side of my "luxury" door. So I contacted them and they said they would send me a gaurantee claim form and I could get it fixed. They missed telling me one little thing though because I'de imagine they knew it would likely not go down well... it will cost £90 callout fee for the work to be done! £90 to fix their own faulty product? So to make money just build in a few faults then later make your customer pay to get it fixed under guarantee. I have heard of others being told £75 so not even the fee is honest or consistent!
I thought this must be a mistake so I phoned them and the lad on the phone simply kept repeating that yes I would need to pay a £90 callout fee, in advance every time I said anything.
Me -"Yes but it's faulty"
Him "you have to pay a £90 callout fee in advance and we will come out"
Me - why should I pay a fee to get a faulty product fixed under guarantee?
Him - yes you have to pay the fee
Me - I'm not paying a company to fix their faulty product that's not right.
Him - You just need to pay the £90 fee
Me - I am going to contact Trading Standards
Him - All you need to do is pay the £90 fee
and so on and so on .. the robots on the phone don't listen I imagine I could have told him santas just landed on my roof and he'd have said yes just pay the £90 fee. Very near the end of the conversation he briefly said I could maybe claim it back after. Claim it back, I shouldn't have to pay it in the first place!
So to sum up - this company are horrendous and once they have sold you something they couldn't care less about you. Do not use them do not let them get your phone number, do not let them into your home!
I work shifts and got called daily over and over and over asking would I recommend them? Do I want more work done? Would I like some special offer on more windows? despite demanding not to be called and being on the telephone preference scheme, it was only when I advised them of my particular employment and that legal action would be thundering their way that the calls finally stopped. Well when I say stopped, they became far less frequent and petered out. Although I still get calls from their partner companies annoying me.
Well I read all the complaints with great interest. It appear that we all seem to have the same problem. We had a patio door fitted approximately 4 weeks ago. On the day of fitting, the door would not fit properly and within 24 hours we had 2 call outs, 1 for the door dropping and 1 for the locking cylinder, which "had a mind of its own"!
This morning, we discovered that the door has dropped again. Now, this means that the door cannot be locked, which is, of course, a security risk to my house.
As at this time, I am waiting for someone to come out and fix this today, however, although they have been informed, they told me that it might not be fixed today!
Watch this space for updates!
Hi, I have the same problem with the draft. In door, I told them November 2012 and just got the letter yesterday! And wanting call out money... Can I ask how you got on?
Faulty window
Windows were installed in 2001. Everything seemed okay, untill 2005, when rain was getting in through the TOP of our bedroom window.
Weatherseal came out finnally to look at window and for some reason made the drainage holes in the bottom of the window bigger. Next time it rained, same again rain water comes in through the top of the unit. Weatherseal been contacted and been out 4 -5 times, but window still faulty.
Looking for a replacement window, but surprise, surprise no reply from wetaherseal.Looking to take this matter further.
Would recommend you look elsewhere for double glazing.
Really not worth the hassle!
I had double glazing fitted by Weatherseal after a demo and quote for 6 windows and patio doors in dec 2005 they turned up on time and immediately asked me to sign a note of satisfaction which I didn't sign then they didn't have the right glass for the bathroom then they damaged seals and trims fitting them then they hadn't measured the patio doors correctly. This took 3 weeks to get the doors right then when they were fitted there's a 5mm gap from the seal
They have been back several times swapping glass fitting new seals and trims and trying to decide how to solve the gap in the patio doors . Only to make things worse by breaking frames fitting the trims it has now been 10 months since installation and there still not right
The only time I have had a phone call off Weather seal is from a call centre asking if I would recommend their company to to my friends and they seem as stupid as there fitters because they keep phoning just for me to verbally abuse them every month
When I ring customer services they have no empathy they give you appointments with zero flexibility even if you ring to cancel an appointment they still turn up
I have had dealings with safe style in the past which was terrible but Weatherseal just take the pee !
guarantee
i purchased windows and doors from weatherseal in 2006 and got a 10 year guarantee with them we had a few problems in the first year with windows dropping and key cylinder on the front door and they come out to fix them after having to wait as they did not feel it was urgent that we could not lock the door . now i have problems again with the front and back doors, with the locking systems and so i got in contact with weatherseal to get them out to fix them as they are under the 10 year guarantee but have now been told i have to pay £75 call out fee i phoned them to ask why and the guy told me it was in the terms and conditions funny as i was never asked to pay this before now i'm wondering why i keep this guarantee as it seems to me it is not worth the paper it is writen on and i could get someone else to do it cheaper and not give weatherseal any more of my money
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Fitting and installation went really well, but now when a window won't close they won't send someone out to repair until 1) we've filled a form in and 2) paid the £90 call out fee!? Why do we need to fill in a form first, the person could surely take the details over the phone? A pointless delaying tactic in my opinion. This seems to be the case with Weatherseal, base their sales talk on being a 'reputable' company, "a little more expensive, but you get what you pay for" was the pitch.
I agree with everything here -but the worse thing for me is that I have only just found out that they failed to register to register the windows with FENSA and therefore Local Building Control! The guarantee is also worthless.
I also had windows and doors installed by Weatherseal in 2004, with a 10 year guarantee. I called to report a fault with 2 of the windows to be told that Weatherseal had gone into administration and that this new company "Weatherseal Home Improvements" was under no obligation to honour the guarantee. Similarly a £90 call out charge and I would then have to pay parts and labour if they could repair it. I find it disgusting that companies can declare themselves bankrupt, side-step any obligations and start trading again under the SAME NAME like nothing happened. Pathetic.
I purchase Window from Weatherseal in 2005, I was told when we signed a financial contract doors and window were Guarantee for 10 years if we had any problems just to phone the company. My patio doors are not opening and closing properly. I phoned weatherseal and was told the company went into administration and therr is no longer 10 year guarantee on our doors and windows and they wanted a £90.00 call out charge to inspect the work, they can go and whistle for it. i will never trust anthor double glazing company again. I have been to trading standard and will be seeking legal advice.
Ive got problems back door lets in wind, now there asking for £90 call out fee which they can run and jump for and mine ones are 13 month old I have sought legal advise and saying that the £90 call out fee is misselling so i will be taking it further . I need a new front door and 5 windows for the front so
call centre
I was called today on my home number which should block calls from people like WEATHERSEAL! They went on to say if I was given £1500 to spend on my house would I choose windows or doors, I answered doors, they then went on to say how are your doors and I answered they are fine! He then said well why did you say doors then if they are ok and I answered well You said if I was given £1500 what would I spend it on, they then hung up! I really don't appreciate calls like this especially when they are so rude. I rung back and asked to speak to a manager and they hung up on me again. If I was to want windows and doors this would be the last company I would ask.
Weatherseal Holdings are a bunch of cowboys!
Would not buy anything from Weatherseal Holdings again!
I got a weather seal door fitted on 30-10-11.It was the wrong door fitted and weatherseal wiil not come back and rectify their mistake.after sales service stinks!
salesman's behaviour
Salesman came to show me double glazing: one hour appointment. Spent 2 and a half hours playing silly sales games like try to work out the social category of my postcode. then how many people did I know, what was my background, and come up with - you've guessedit, my profile plus the local profile meant I could have a great discount! He then rubbished local...

In our old flat, the living room window was misting up, got a guy from weatherseal out who reckoned we needed sealed units for this and one bedroom, this was due to the seals being away. the windows were from another company the previous owner had used who were oot the windy (pardon the pun). so this tradesman (haha salesman) quoted us a price after some absolute bulls##t and several cups of tea £900 for the two units, ok, we said as it needed done. anyway fitting days came and went, no fitters available, glass was smashed, scratched, missing etc etc, three month later and no sign, sod it i said these people obviously have bigger jobs on, so okay i would lose £50 but i'm not waiting any longer. phoned them up and lo and behold "oh we can do them next week" no i said stick them up yer hole. got a phone number for a small local company, guy came out and did the window for £90 all in, did a good job and we only waited a week, guy had worked for weatherseal and had some amusing stories about them. we moved a year or so ago and the window was fine...although we never got the bedroom one fixed.

Another sucker caught out by this mob.I recently had them give me a quote for some French doors. The woman on the phone said he would be at our house for 11 am.I asked how long it would be as we were meeting my son 20 miles away at 12.30.She said he would be no longer than 1hr. At 11.30 he hadn't arrived and I phoned to cancel. The woman on the phone said he would be at my door in 5 mins.11.45 he appeared I told him we were going out and he said"Did you tell them that when you agreed for the quote?"I said that I did and he said they shouldn't have sent him then.He proceeded with his nonsensical quote of £4000 we said no thanks as we had a previous quote of £1500.He said the company we got the quote from used rubbish doors and likened it to John Lewis and Primark.Looking at our furniture he obviously decided we were more John Lewis and said he hoped we didn't shop in down market shops.
Anyway we still said no.He then proceeded to call his "Boss"Went through a speill about how good our house looked and that it would be good to get before and after photos. He then said that if we allowed this for advertising purposes the doors would be £2000.We by this time had to leave and he said that if we signed we had a cooling off period. We stupidly signed as the price was OK .The next morning I cancelled in writing and was promptly charged £99 admin fee which at no time was mentioned.I then noticed that they had been reported and investigated by the OFT for these sales techniques and had promised to follow regulations set out by them.None of this was adhered to.Customer service then told me that the only person who could deal with this issue was the finance director. When I asked for his contact number she informed me that she doesn't have contact details for him and he doesn't accept correspondence. This is a joke BEWARE!"!"!
well thanks to sites like this i will not or ever will have salesmen round of any sort.the weatherseal guy was a nice enough bloke but listening through all his sales and marketing jargon had almost got me.first of all an hour before the guy arrived someone from weatherseal phoned and asked some personal questions, anyhow i had told her that i would be in alone when the salesman comes.2 mins after the salesman arrives he says wheres your wife?at work i said!oh i cannot have yoy sign for anything without your wife present.why i asked and he says oh its so we cannot be seen as a company who can talk like old ladies into signing contracts so when i speak to a customer its company policy for someone else to be present.after listening to his sales pitch, government scrappage schemes, police security certificates for their product, latge discount for me as i live on a busy street.all rubbish, the phone goes and a woman from weatherseal says to me you told me your wife was with you when we arranged the callout.an argument on the phone with her and then when i hung up on her i foolishly said to him thats some idiot woman on the phone telling me im a liar.he said really ill get right on the phone to my boss to get this sorted she is out of order.i will be back tomorrow when your wife is present.it took me a while to work it out but next day he was supposed to phone me before coming.he turned up at the door and when i confronted him about it all as a scam he denied it but i told him this front door is as far as its getting and your company have misleading sales pitches, bad customer service, terrible fitters and poor products.it took me 2 hours last night looking up all the complaints from this company and i would never let them near my door.
kelly 13, same thing has happened to my 75 year old mother cash price was 3400 and after speaking to the finance company the finance price for over 10 years is 22k.. How do these people sleep at night, because one thing is for certain we no longer do.
hi my dad has just had his windows done by weatherseal and was quoted just over 11 grand with 1000 cashback, the sales man asked howmuch they could afford each month to which my dad said 90 pounds which the salesman agreeded now my dad has ad a letter stateing 1 st payment off over 300 and then 95 monthy payments off 240 which in totally works out at nealy 25 grand, who in there rigth mind would pay that much for dam windows, the areement states 90 and nothing else, he has also not had the 1000 cashback put into his bank...all i can say is hello court case!
I've just had windows install by"weather seal"was told they would pay for the 1st 18 months and then I would clear the remainder balance or finish paying the finance... They way they pay for the 1st 18 months is that they give you a cash back to cover it which Hasnt and now I'm constantly trying to get this sorted out with the original salesman who has made the mistake as head office said it's a sales query ... Anyone else had this problem ?
Personally, I would have waited until the original seals returned, then negotiated some kind of prmanency settlement with them. I can understand the difficulty the replacement window company would have had after you phone call, as no human orifice (hole) appears to be dimensionally correct or large enough on either axis to accept afull sized sealed unit.
Hi.
I don't work for any of the companies concerned, but would like to add a few things to 'Kspence' and 'angry troy' - No home improvement company comes to your house unless you requested a visit. Most of the people who visit you are on commission based payments and haveto make the best of every selling opportunity - In my mind, if you weren't interested in replacement doors (Kspence), then why did you invite a representative along to your house, also you had obiously also had a CR Smith rep along at his expense as well ? As for inviting companies around telling them you are not interested in their product details, let me put this to you. 2 cars are for sale one is £5, 500 the other is slightly more expensive at £6, 250. Which one would you buy?
I totally agree to all above, I was silly enough to ask them to give me aprice for a replacement rear door, I explained to the person on the other end of the phone that I didnt want a sales pitch, all I wanted was a cost. The sales man appeared 10mins late proceeded to spout bull s***, at which point I stopped him short and said I wasnt intrested and only wanted a quote, he panicked said he had to call his boss who in turn spoke to me, I politly reitterated my view and advise if he continued then he leave by the method he entered. I eventually got a price for one door of £2300.00. I politley advise this was far more expensive than Mr C R Smith (which was suprising). He then proceeded to call his boss again (OH no NOT THAT OLD TRICK). I then politley asked him to leave, wished him all the best. A shame really he did tell me he was only doing this because he had liost his job and you could tell he was going by a script. So moral of the story is if you have to have a sales person round first trick is to tell him you dont want to nknow nothing about the company only the price of the product.
I constantly receive calls from weather-seal, what ever you do DO NOT engage in any conversation over the phone, Its pointless fruitless folly . Your best bet is to log their number and never answer it ! if you do you will end up giving them further fuel to harass you and it doesnt matter if it means you get so angry that you would never use them if they were the last company on earth because they employ telemarketing staff who get paid not to care about that.
The last guy who phoned tried to make out that my wife had arranged a new front porch when I explained she wouldn't be interested in such a scheme he said dont be such an Idiot . I hung up .
He phoned back I told him to [censor] off but no...he's still ringing my number and im no longer answering .
I got a quote from Weatherseal to upgrade 4 windows and a front door for a one bedroom flat, the quote was £13000 which included finance, i told them i was not interested at that price, they constantly called me and reduced the offer to £4000, I managed to get my windows and door fitted for £1995 from another company and every 3 months I get calls from Weatherseal, despite various ways of telling them I am not interested and DO NOT want any further calls from them. This morning, being a Sunday, a day of rest, i get woken up by Weatherseal. I've never known a more harrassing company in my life! and for their prices what a bunch of cowboys
Windows Installation
This company did not live up to all the hype they advertised. We thought that we'd be getting our money's worth with this company. We were very disappointed. We really wish they'd care more about customer satisfaction. We would never recommend this vendor.
They are misleading in marketing misleading in information misleading in signing contract and misleading in cancelling the contract.
I lost £349 for nothing but it could be worse
( I haven't put one star the page has put it and I can not remove it)
Basically a rogue outfit that shouldn't exist in this day and age. A cancelled order will ensure you lose your "Administration charge " of at least £199 ! Contrary to salesman stating this is refundable on cancellation.
The finance terms and conditions are also astronomical and demand very close inspection. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
They take my money, but try to resolve a problem, I get a one finger salute...
Same issues as above, and I am following up with these guys for last season, 6 months so far, they did not turn up yet about where my problem stands and when they are going to address it.
I have installed windows from these people and they were installed with poor insulation, and I always find an issue with windows. Whenever I report a issue, it takes few months to respond.
Yes, they never respond to anyone and never call back and never care about customers, once the business is completed.
