Weather Shield MFG Weather Shield Warranty Denial: Frustration and Disappointment with Vinyl Windows

Our contractor put in some Weather Shield vinyl windows in our house during a remodel back in 2005. Most of them are the typical kind that slide up and down, but the ones in our master bathroom are casement windows that you have to crank open. Unfortunately, we've had some pretty big problems with both types of windows. The casement windows just won't latch or lock, even though we hardly ever use them. And the sliders in our bedroom actually broke - the little wheels that hold up the valence somehow broke through the side of the window!

We were pretty upset about all this, so we decided to submit a warranty claim. After all, we're still within the 20-year warranty period that Weather Shield offers. But when we did, they denied our claim! They said that our windows had been "misused and abused." We were really surprised by this, since we hardly ever use the windows in the first place. We have central air, so we don't need to open them very often.

To make matters worse, Weather Shield wouldn't explain their decision to us or let us talk to anyone higher up in the company. We were left feeling pretty frustrated and disappointed. We've decided that we won't be using Weather Shield again in the future. It's just not worth the hassle and the risk of having to deal with their warranty department again.

Weather Shield MFG Disappointing Experience with Weather Shield: Poor Performance, Useless Warranty, and Fraudulent Practices

I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with Weather Shield. I mean, I don't even know how to rate them because they're just that bad. I had 17 windows and 3 sliders installed by them, and let me tell you, they never performed well. And don't even get me started on their warranty - it's completely useless. When I tried to make a claim, they just used it as an opportunity to sell me more junk through their "inside sales" department. They were all like, "Well, we gave you a twenty year warranty, but it's been 16 years, so we'll discount new parts 50%." Like, what? Are they serious? They expect me to remanufacture their door or something? No contractor will even touch it because it's either under warranty or not, and apparently it's "not" according to WS's misrepresentations. And get this - they don't even have a warranty department. Can you believe that?

Honestly, I'm so fed up with Weather Shield that I'm preparing to file a lawsuit against them. And it looks like I'm not the only one - they've faced numerous lawsuits, including class actions. And honestly, I'm not surprised. It's their custom and practice not to honor the warranties that they wrote, which is just straight-up fraud. And that's not even mentioning the fact that their products are just not good. I mean, look at the picture - does that look like a good value or a cool product to you? I didn't think so.

Weather Shield MFG Defective Weathershield Windows: Short Warranty, Poor Quality, and No Customer Support

We bought Weathershield windows for our new house a decade ago. We were excited to have them installed as they looked great and promised to be energy-efficient. However, after three years, we started noticing that the window seals were failing. Moisture began condensing inside the windows, and mold started growing between the sheets of glass. We were disappointed and concerned about the health risks associated with mold.

To make matters worse, several doors also failed. We tried to get them replaced under warranty, but we were told that the full warranty had expired after two years. We were shocked and frustrated that such an expensive product would have such a short warranty period. We were also told that they would provide glass panels but not the frames, so the contractor had to take the windows apart and set the glass in the old frames.

In the last two years, virtually ALL the remaining windows have failed. We have been trying to get in touch with the local business that sold Weathershield, but they have gone out of business. We have also tried to contact other reps, but they have not responded to our calls. We presume that they don't have a dime in the game. Weathershield won't respond to our calls either. We are now having all the glass fabricated and replaced at our own expense.

We are extremely disappointed with Weathershield. We feel that we have been sold a defective product, and the company has not stood behind its product. We would not recommend anyone to buy anything from Weathershield. It is a waste of money, and you will end up paying more in the long run.

Weather Shield MFG Terrible Experience with Weather Shield Windows - Don't Make the Same Mistake I Did

So, I was convinced by my builder to go with Weather Shield for my windows instead of Pella. What a mistake! Within months, the seals were broken and I had to find a distributor in my area to help me out. When I finally found one, the Weather Shield rep challenged me, saying that I didn't have their windows because I couldn't find the serial number. It was so small! I had to take pictures of the stamp on the lock to prove it. It was a hassle, but we finally found the number and the rep told me my warranty had expired. I couldn't believe it! My house was only 10 years old at the time. We went back and forth, but nothing came of it. I couldn't find a replacement sash that matched, so I had to buy Weather Shield sashes. Most of the windows on the front of my house have failed. It's a joke of a company. I just got a quote from a local Pella distributor and I'm done with Weather Shield. They can go "F--K" themselves with anything long and [censored]ly. I'm so angry!

Weather Shield MFG Disappointing Experience with Weather Shield Windows: A Cautionary Tale

We recently built a new log home using The Original Lincoln Logs, and we were excited to hear that they offered Weather Shield windows with a 20-year warranty. We felt confident that we were making a good investment in our home, but unfortunately, our experience with Weather Shield has been less than satisfactory.

After only 15 months in our new home, we noticed that the seals on our patio door had failed. At first, we thought it was just dirt, but as time went on, it became clear that there was a more serious problem. The window was becoming increasingly dirty between the glass, and it was obvious that this had been an issue for some time.

When we contacted Weather Shield about the problem, we were disappointed to learn that their warranty only covers installation service for up to two years after delivery. This was particularly frustrating because our home was still under construction for several months after the windows were installed, so we had even less time to notice any problems.

Now, Weather Shield is telling us that we need to pay to have their faulty product replaced and installed. This is a major disappointment, and it has made us question the value of their 20-year warranty. We feel like we were sold a product that was supposed to be high-quality and long-lasting, but instead, we've been left with a faulty window that needs to be replaced at our own expense.

We would caution anyone considering purchasing Weather Shield windows, as well as their other brands like Life Guard, Crestline, and Peachtree. Based on our experience and the reviews we've read, it seems like this company does not stand by their products and that they are failing too often. We would advise buyers to beware and to consider other options for their window needs.

Weather Shield MFG Disappointed with Weather Shield's Aluminum Clad Sliders & Poor Customer Service

I recently bought two 72" x 60" aluminum clad sliders from Weather Shield and I have to say, I'm not too impressed. While both panels operate, they required an insect screen that was approximately the full size of the unit (29sq'). The screens that were sent with the unit are industry standard construction according to Jeffrey Fitzgerald, who is the SoCal Territory Manager. That's all well and good, but my screens are really big and neither Jeffrey nor the owner, Mark Shield, will acknowledge that fact.

The extrusion used on screen doors, including those made by Weather Shield, are 1 1/4" - 1 3/4" industry wide, even by the vinyl window company's. This being said, my screens are larger than most screen doors and they are only 1/2" frames. I feel like poor judgment was made on the part of Weather Shield, specifically Jeffrey Fitzgerald and Mark Shield, to not make a poor design right. The screens are flimsy and have already bent from falling out of the frame.

To make matters worse, I feel like the customer service is poor when you need to cc the boss to get any communication started. It's frustrating to have to go through all of that just to get a response. I'm not sure if I'll be endorsing this product anytime soon.

P.S. I'm getting tired of spraying silicone on the track so the panels will slide. It's just one more thing to deal with.

Regards,

Vince Flores

Weather Shield MFG Disappointing Experience with Weather Shield: Noisy Door and Windows, Unhelpful Customer Service

I recently purchased a composite door from Weather Shield to replace my old plastic one. However, I was disappointed to find that the new door made cracking noises whenever the temperature changed and allowed noise from the street to filter through as if the door was open. When I contacted Weather Shield about the issue, they told me that there was nothing wrong with the door and suggested that I buy a porch to stop the noise.

In addition to the door, I also purchased windows from Weather Shield to replace my glazing throughout the house. Unfortunately, the new windows made my home so noisy that I was waking up at 6am on refuse collection day and could hear every car door shutting. When I brought this issue to Weather Shield's attention, they told me that it was my fault for choosing the highest quality glass to stop heat loss. They suggested that if I wanted to reduce noise, I should have ordered and paid for a more expensive type of glass.

While Weather Shield claims that they can fix the noise problem, they are asking me to pay for secondary glazing to be fitted inside the glazing I've just bought. I find this request to be absurd and frustrating. I paid for glazing and a door that were supposed to stop outside noise, but neither of them have lived up to my expectations. The rude comments from Weather Shield blaming me and telling me to pay for more products from them to cover up their mistakes are absolutely disgusting.

I don't live on a particularly noisy street, but the noise from outside is now ruining my peace of mind. Weather Shield has not only ruined my house, but they have also ruined my trust in them as a company. I would not recommend their products to anyone who values their peace and quiet.

Weather Shield MFG Disappointing Experience with WeatherShield Windows: Broken Springs, Fogging, and Poor Hardware Quality

I recently purchased 23 double hung windows and three doors from Weather Shield. However, I was disappointed to find out that the window lite profile was not what I was shown at the time of order. Despite pre-paying for the order, the distributor informed me that WeatherShield had the right to change the profile. This caused a delay in the installation process, as we had to wait for a response from WeatherShield. Unfortunately, we received no response, so we had to take legal action and go to court. Eventually, WeatherShield settled at a discount, but I still regret not choosing a different brand like P... A.

Now, several issues are arising with the windows. The springs are broken, causing the windows to not stay up. There is also fogging and a shrunk felt strip at the base, which allows bugs and wind to enter the house. Additionally, the hardware lost its finish within a few months and looks pitted. When I contacted WeatherShield about this issue, they simply said that window cleaner will do that! However, we hadn't even cleaned the windows yet, so that's not the point. The hardware should be able to hold up to window cleaner.

WeatherShield did replace a couple of windows that had defects, such as stuff between the glass and miss-aligned divided lites. However, the replacements were the profile that I had originally wanted, which was supposedly no longer being manufactured. My distributor has ignored me, and now WeatherShield is doing the same. I feel like I was lied to and cheated by these people. It's frustrating to look at these 23 windows and feel like I made a stupid decision by not choosing a more reliable brand. Our architect recommended WeatherShield, but I would not recommend them to anyone.

Weather Shield MFG Disappointing Quality: A Review of Weather Shield Casement Windows

I remember back in 1994 when I was looking for some casement windows to spruce up the look of my home. I wanted something that was vinyl on the outside, oak on the inside, and triple paned. After doing some research, I decided to go with Weather Shield (weathershield.com) because of the quality of the window, the wood choices, the overall look, and the price. The installer was great and I had no problem with the actual window frame. However, the sashes were another issue.

The smaller casements only had one lock on them, which meant that they didn't seal well at the bottom. The weather stripping was barely there, flimsy, thin, and not enough to actually seal the window. Even when the windows were new, they had air leaks. If the weather suddenly changed from hot to cold, I had to deal with a huge air leak until the window adjusted to the new temperature. The hardware was cheap and has broken over time. The vinyl exterior was okay on the sashes, but the base at the bottom was very thin vinyl and has gotten hail damage holes. I had to fix that myself as the insurance company didn't really cover that (same if you get hail damage on your driveway).

Fast forward to 2019, and I have been renting out this property since 2005. I went to check the property after the tenant moved out, and I noticed that the larger windows with 2 locks were fine, but the smaller ones with one lock definitely had wood damage along the bottom of the sash and frame. It's a bad design, and I would never recommend Weather Shield to anyone.

In fact, I purchased Pella for my current home, and the quality is much better. They have been installed since 2002, and I have had absolutely zero problems. If you're looking for windows, I would definitely recommend Pella over Weather Shield.

Weather Shield MFG Weathershield: Overpriced, Poor Quality, and Terrible Customer Service - A Warning

I bought all the doors and windows for my house back in 1992 from Weathershield. They told me that I would get a warranty for 25 or 30 years. At that time, their products were really well-made, as we saw them installed in other homes. They didn't have any plastic parts, only aluminum extruded parts clad onto wood, and great seals. However, after five years of moving in, we had an issue with our front door rusting through from the inside outward! I called them several times, but they ignored me. Finally, after years of this, a field representative arrived, looked at the issue, and said he was from far away, but would get me a replacement front door the next time he was in the area. His business card identified him as an actual employee of Weathershield.

I also pointed out that our patio door was unlockable, its screen door had no latch or lock, and hardware was missing. All was to be replaced/repaired when he showed up next. However, I called for three more years to get him back, but there were never any return calls or help from their "Customer service." We put EVERYTHING into getting into our first home, trusting their warranty and their good reputation at that time, but they didn't even try to help a good customer. In fact, we paid MORE (double) for their windows and doors than the Andersons and other brands at that time.

Long story short, I asked a locksmith to help me find hardware to be able to lock ALL of my doors, and he burst out laughing. He said they never put in the hardware at the factory, and that is why it won't lock. I asked why I can never open it easily from outside (heavy and always worked VERY hard from day one). He looked and said they put in the hardware upside down, so that is why your fingers can't fit on the slider! It has rivets instead of threaded screws, so it had to be made by them incorrectly. We now have a steel door that looks like an old Wisconsin car that saw a few too many winters, a non-locking patio door, non-locking and warped windows, rotting wood window frames despite their "Lifetime warranted finishes, etc. Fortunately, I have not experienced seal failures like most have.

Well, after the seventh year, I was already told that my warranty was only a five-year one. WHAT A JOKE! Today, I was hung up on for the fifth time after already being talked to very rudely to start with. All I asked for was the hardware that was never put on my patio door, or a supplier that could help me. Was once again told that it was past warranty, so they wouldn't help. The last question I have for anybody out there is this; even if past any warranty period, wouldn't any honest reputable business bend over backwards to try to help a past customer? Wouldn't they say THANKS for your past support, let's see how we CAN try to help you out?

I WILL NEVER EVER BUY THEIR PRODUCTS! And after hanging up on me for the fifth time now (UNPROFESSIONAL!), I will go out of my way to warn anyone that will listen to avoid them like the plague! Hope this rant helps at least one person avoid the bad experiences we have had and still endure from a company willing to overcharge you and treat you worse than imaginable instead of like the good customer you deserve to be treated as. I would give them negative or no stars, but that is not possible on this site! Weathershield, you have my address and number if you want to make things right. I will not hold my breath too long though! Today's "Hang Up" when I was civil and courteous was just too much and the last time for me!

Weather Shield MFG Disappointing Experience with Weather Shield Windows: Poor Quality and Customer Service

I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with Weather Shield. We had them install windows in our new home just three years ago, and already we're having problems. Within six months, we noticed leaks and had trouble closing the windows. We called the rep out to take a look, and he made some adjustments to the arm. He told us to let him know if we had any more issues.

Well, it wasn't long before we did. The seals on the windows were clearly broken, and we could see mold growing inside. We emailed the rep again, but he took his sweet time getting back to us. When he finally did, he said he could see the broken seals in the pictures we submitted. No kidding, Sherlock!

Now, they want to charge us just to come and look at the windows. I mean, come on! We paid good money for these windows, and they're already falling apart. It's not like we're asking for anything unreasonable here. We just want them to fix their mistake.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend Weather Shield to anyone. Their customer service is terrible, and their products clearly aren't up to par. Save yourself the headache and go with a different company.

Weather Shield MFG Review: Weather Shield Windows and Doors - A Wide Range of Options and Helpful Customer Service

Weather Shield is a company that sells windows and doors. They have a website, weathershield.com, where you can see all the different types of windows and doors they offer. I was interested in buying some windows for my house, so I decided to check them out.

One thing I noticed right away is that they have a lot of different options. They have different types of windows, like casement windows, double-hung windows, and sliding windows. They also have different materials, like wood, aluminum, and vinyl. And they have different colors and finishes, so you can choose the one that matches your house the best.

I decided to call Weather Shield to ask some questions about their windows. The person I talked to was very helpful and answered all my questions. They told me that their windows are energy-efficient, which means they can help me save money on my energy bills. They also told me that their windows are durable and can last a long time.

One thing I was a little confused about is that the person I talked to told me that the distributors are independent. I wasn't sure what that meant, so I asked them to explain. They told me that the distributors are not employees of Weather Shield, but they order the windows from Weather Shield and sell them to customers. If I have a problem with the windows, Weather Shield will take care of it, but if I have a problem with the distributor, that's between me and them.

Overall, I was impressed with Weather Shield. They have a lot of different options for windows and doors, and their customer service was very helpful. The only thing that was a little confusing was the independent distributors, but I think I understand it now. If you're looking for windows or doors, I would definitely recommend checking out Weather Shield.

Weather Shield MFG Disappointing Experience with Weather Shield Windows: Poor Customer Service and Warranty Issues

I got 7 windows from Weather Shield and I gotta say, I'm not too happy with them. They got some air problems and some of them are tough to open and close. I tried to get in touch with their customer service and they tried to help me out at first. But then they just stopped answering me when they couldn't figure out what was wrong. And get this, they won't even honor their warranty! It's like they don't even care about their customers. And when I left a bad review, they told me to contact them to fix the problem. But when I did, they didn't even bother to reply! It's just ridiculous.

Weather Shield MFG Frustrating and Costly Experience with Weather Shield Patio Doors and Screens

Weather Shield is a company that sells hardware, patio doors, and screens. I have had some experience with their products and I must say, it has been quite frustrating and costly over the years. The doors were not cheap and I have been nothing but disappointed and dissatisfied with them. I have even thought about throwing them through a window or dumping them on the roof of Western Building Supply in Albuquerque, NM. I regret listening to the sales representative at the time of purchase. If it were possible, I would rate this product minus 1 star. I hope to replace them with a better product soon.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Edward S. Angel

Weather Shield MFG Disappointing Experience with Weather Shield Windows: Warranty Issues and Poor Quality

I recently had an experience with Weather Shield and I have to say, it was not a pleasant one. I had heard about their windows from a friend and decided to give them a try. I was encouraged to purchase 17 windows early on in the construction phase so that I would have them ready to install when the time came. The dealer even offered to store them for me, which I thought was a great convenience.

However, things quickly went downhill from there. I soon found out that the warranty on the windows began running from the date of purchase, not from the date of installation. This was a big problem for me, as it took longer than expected to get the windows installed. By the time they were finally in, the warranty had already been running for several months.

To make matters worse, I started experiencing all of the same problems that other people have complained about on this site. The windows were not properly sealed, so I could always tell when the wind was blowing outside by the way the curtains would move. And whenever it rained, there were always little puddles of water that I had to mop up.

Overall, I have to say that I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Weather Shield. I can't believe that they are still in business, given all of the complaints that I have seen on this site and elsewhere. If you are considering purchasing windows from them, I would strongly advise against it. There are plenty of other companies out there that offer better products and better customer service.

Weather Shield MFG Stay Away from Weather Shield Windows: A Former Installer's Review

Weather Shield windows used to be top-notch, especially the metal ones. However, since COVID hit in 2019, their quality control has gone downhill. I used to install and repair these windows for their second largest distributor, and I can tell you firsthand that they are not worth the trouble anymore. The gaskets are a major issue, and if you expose them to direct sunlight, you're asking for trouble. The vinyl ones are even worse - they'll warp and buckle in no time. It's a shame because they used to be such great windows, but now they're just junk. If you're looking to buy new windows, stay away from Weather Shield. They might be in a lot of new homes around Bozeman, MT, but that doesn't mean they're any good. Save yourself the headache and find a better brand.

Weather Shield MFG Weathershield Windows Review: Don't Waste Your Money!

So, I was checking out this website called Weathershield and boy, oh boy, I wish I had read the reviews before buying their windows. I mean, I was convinced by this sales guy and ended up buying 20 windows from them. But let me tell you, most of them are just not up to the mark. I have had so many quality issues with them - miss matched finishes, incorrect sizes, and whatnot. It's just not worth the headache, trust me.

I even made a video on YouTube to document all the issues I faced. But guess what? I have been completely ignored by Weathershield and my supplier hasn't been of much help either. It's just so frustrating to lose so much money on a garbage product like this.

So, if you're thinking of buying windows from Weathershield, I'd say just don't. Save yourself the trouble and go for some other brand. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

Weather Shield MFG Mixed Feelings: Quality Products but Poor Customer Service and Added Charges

I bought all my windows and doors from Weathershield when I built my house. I was so happy with the quality that I added on a few years later and used all WS again. However, I have had some issues with the windows failing. I have had to replace numerous windows due to hardware issues and loss of gas. It has been quite frustrating.

But the worst part was when I called to order yet another set of sashes and was hit with a "small order" charge. I was confused and asked why this was added to my order. They explained that they add this charge to all homeowner sales. I was shocked that they would charge me extra for replacing their faulty equipment, especially since I have been a loyal customer.

I felt like they held me hostage once, but I won't let it happen again. I will not be buying any more Weathershield products. It's a shame because I really loved the quality of their products, but the customer service and added charges have left a bad taste in my mouth.

Weather Shield MFG Weathershield Windows and Doors: A Disappointing Investment

We had a big ol' renovation done by a contractor and they put in a whole bunch of Weathershield windows and doors. We're talking three big double hungs, three decent-sized casement windows, one outside door, and five huge fixed windows. At first, everything seemed fine and dandy, but then the seals started to go bad. One by one, they started to fail, and it all started in the first year. Now, over half of them are no good, but only two of them are so bad that you can't even see through them.

We waited a long time to do something about it, but this year we finally decided to take action and see about replacing the failed panes. But guess what? It was too late! Apparently, there was a 20 year guarantee on these things, but we missed the boat. The lesson we learned is that you gotta speak up right away when something goes wrong.

Now, I can't show you a proof of purchase because the contractor bought and installed them, but I can tell you that we're pretty bummed about the whole thing. It's a shame because they looked really nice when they were first put in, but now we're stuck with a bunch of foggy windows.

Weather Shield MFG Disappointing Service and Faulty Products: My Experience with Weather Shield Windows

I recently invested in a new house with Weather Shield and unfortunately, I've had some issues with leaks from the start. It took a whopping 5 years to finally get it fixed, and I had to deal with 2 reps who were trying to blame the contractors for the installation. These reps were quite funny, it took 2 of them to finally realize that they were at fault!

To make matters worse, the awning windows were warped from the start and the reps were arguing that nothing was wrong with the window. I even put a straight edge on the sash that was warped, but they still wouldn't budge. I had to call in the manager of the lumber company to come out and even he said that the windows were messed up! But like your reps, he was less than helpful and only out for his own gain.

Honestly, I find it hard to believe that your company is still in business with this kind of service. I will continue to bash your company and the company Neuens Lumber in Fredonia WI for selling such low-quality products. It's really disappointing to see companies like yours not taking responsibility for their mistakes and blaming others instead.

Overall, I would not recommend Weather Shield to anyone looking for quality windows and doors. It's just not worth the hassle and frustration that comes with dealing with their reps and faulty products. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for your home improvement needs.

Weather Shield MFG Warranty

We received an unlimited lifetime materials and labor warranty from Weathershield our windows when we built our home in 1999. In March of last year we submitted a claim for numerous seal failures of the insulated glass, which the warranty clearly states is covered as a manufacturer defect. However, Weathershield denied the claim stating that seal failures are not a manufacturer defect.

They refused to do anything even though we had a lifetime warranty for as long as we own and occupy the home, which we do.

Desired outcome: I want them to replace the defective windows.

Weather Shield MFG weathershield windows leak and rot

Bought top of the line aluminum clad windows and doors about 12 years ago in new construction. Within few years noticed several rotting on the inside damaging Sheetrock... addressed it quickly and recaulked all around exterior... several now have failed (sill rot and some fixed windows fogging) and weathershield will supply glass but 8 to 10k of labor to repair and replace sills, rot. One large 3 unit window (2 stories high so was not aware) was so bad frame totally rotted and affected wall. Don't even know what that will cost yet. Evidently there were past class action suits based upon these issues but I was not aware. Not sure what to do now but if anyone with similar issues want to address legally I'm in!

Weather Shield MFG double pane windows

This company is shameless in it's avoidance of responsibility. The community I live in in Apple Valley, MN, was constructed in 2003. Beginning a few years after initial construction, the windows supplied by this company started to show mold growing between the panes in nearly every residence in which they were installed. The HOA contacted the company for a remedy since it was clearly a manufacturing error. Initially they denied responsibility. Then they said they would offer replacement windows at a 50% discount without installation. It turns out they inflated the retail price for this "remedy" so that the ultimate price paid was essentially retail. The threat of a class action lawsuit was raised and the company offered 70% on such an inflated retail price that the HOA was able to find a comparable competitor's bid for less than their supposed 70% off.

There is no question that the failure of their windows began in their factory as a result of their error in manufacture. Yet, rather than stand by their product they weaseled and avoided and deceived to avoid their responsibility. SAVE YOURSELF THE RISK OF BEING LEFT HIGH AND DRY as dozens of my fellow homeowners have been and AVOID WEATHER SHIELD at all costs.

Weather Shield MFG Windows

I have weather shield windows (Visions line) and the latch failed. Weather shield refused to fix the problem even though the window was under warranty. They offered to pay for the latch but said I was responsible to pay for all labor to fix their faulty window. They just passed me off to a local company which would come and look at the problem for $85.

Weather Shield MFG Don't deal with this terrible company!

We built a new house two years ago and installed Weather Shield doors. Only two years passed and we already have to replace most of the doors. Weather Shield products were of a very poor quality and they worst part was that Weather Shield did nothing to help us. We had a warranty but they claimed that in our case we could not use it. These people do not stand behind their products and all they need is money! Don't deal with this terrible company!

Weather Shield MFG Lifetime Warranty Not Honored

Today (11/11/2015) I contacted Weather Shield to request a replacement part for one of the Weather Shield windows in my home. I was told by "Brandon" at Weather Shield that since the window is 21 years old and that this is the first time this particular part has broken (there have been other parts that have broken over the years) they would not be supplying me with a replacement part. I explained to Brandon that my Weather Shield windows had a lifetime warranty on hardware. Brandon stated that the part that broke (a Tie Bar Guide) had lasted just fine for twenty-one years and that, it now breaking, did not demonstrate a defect in workmanship or material. I feel that a company that sells a product with a Lifetime Window Hardware Warranty should back a window's hardware for the life of the window. Brandon and Weathershield will not. The clause of their warranty pertaining reads: Window Hardware (Lifetime) Weather Shield warrants that ProShield window hardware shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for the LIFE of the structure into which the window is installed. In all cases, the customer will be invoiced for the replacement hardware at the regular price and full credit will be issued when the defective hardware has been returned to Weather Shield.

I bought 4 patio doors when I built 2 duplexes in 2006. It turns out, the width of the sliding door was designed too wide so the fuzzy stuff can’t overlap to seal out the wind. No tenant ever told me the wind just blows straight in. I just happened to be there on a windy day, and was shocked. I called W.S. They pretended like they didn’t understand. Help!

Weather Shield MFG Horrible windows and customer service

We built our dream log home four years ago. Weather Shield came with the package. Three large picture windows now have broken seals. I tried emailing, no response. I finally got the warranty lady on the phone. She was down right annoyed I was even calling because supposedly I was in some kind of order to get a response via email. I asked her how and when I could get the replacements. She wouldn't give me a time line or any information. A month goes by, nothing. No calls, no response from my emails. I finally found a store that sells them and the owner tried desperately to get them to call HIM. He finally reached the Regional Rep, two weeks later, who then promised to call me the following Monday. NOTHING. The store owner kept trying. They wouldn't call him back. About 6 weeks later, the windows showed up at his location, 1.5 hours away, to which the store owner then had to transport them to us. Weather Shield refused to ship us the windows. Then the installed they recommended kept putting me off, (I vacationed for a week) until six weeks later, the day of install he didn't show up. Instead, he calls my contractor and told him he just couldn't do it. He was too busy and didn't want to reschedule. What? Now I have 3 large windows sitting in my garage. This is five months later. Thanks Weather Shield!

House is only 10 years old and having trouble with them since 2005. Had a contractor from weathershied from Stillwater, MN to the house. He checked humidity and was only 26% which is what is all the time and our furnace man also said that is like a dessert. Very much static also. Having a door blow test done Saturday, Feb. 1st. Will see what he says but I talked with him on the phone and he also said 26% humidity is dry and feels the windows are leaking. we will see Sat. Weather Shield MFG Failure of Product

Weather Shield windows are failing all over our townhome complex, and instead of standing by their warranty, they're honoring the supposed "unlimited lifetime" warranty at only 50%. I posted this photo on their Facebook page, only to discover that instead of addressing it, they simply deleted it. The windows where the seal has clearly malfunctioned resulting in moderate to severe condensation between the panes. Others have fallen decorative elements, as seen in the photo below. Apparently this window isn't even covered at the 50% level. So, our retiree and fixed-income residents will have to find some sort of solution to their terrible windows. How pathetic, that WS can't even answer a complaint on FB with any sort of customer service. Instead, they just yank the post. There are many other websites where I'll be posting their terrible customer service.

Weather Shield MFG Warranty not being honored

Never *ever* buy WeatherShield windows. One would expect a good ol' American company to stand by their product, but apparently they only stand by them to about 50% of what a new one would cost, with installation as an additional cost, even though the warranty was clearly unlimited lifetime. Quite a few windows have moderate to severe condensation problems, and some of the nifty elements between the panes of glass have fallen. My window pictured below isn't even covered at all. Nice. This will force our modest townhome association to stick our members with dues increase, which is the worst possible solution because most of them are retirees on fixed incomes. I've read other industry reviews stating how much the company has gone down hill, and I'm sure their inability to stand by their product is part of the problem.
