Like this app more than the rest
I’ve tried many many manyyyyy apps of a similar nature ranging from billibilli to webtoon etc and finally ended up here by chance due to a manhwas remaining chapters only being available on the app.. 1- I like the night mode (seemingly trivial thing to comment on but boy have I been frustrated with the bright white background trying to read at odd hours of the night due to my insomnia and being unaccustomed to the white background bc literally everything else has the night mode feature option) 2- I like the rewards system this app has. It feels like for those who don’t want to purchase coins (I’ll be honest I’m someone who immediately purchases things without hesitation for sake of convenience lol) BUT this app does give little rewards/incentives that I enjoy completing regardless. And unlike other apps it’s nice that upon completion I can actually use the rewards promptly and realistically not like wait 24 hours for a chapter based on one click or paying 1$ per chapter lol.. 3- I like the suggestions options and how it appears per novel/comic instead of just when I go to the home screen & adjusts based on the specific thing I’m reading atm (like whatever comic is open not just my overall history)
Reason for 4 stars — I HATE HATE HATE the immediate pop up like instantaneous “books you may want to read” or whatever. Like first of all it feels like I’m being assaulted and I want to compete w the interface to open up my desired reading before it pops up lol. Secondly since I lean towards the manhuas especially, I would at least prefer an option that let you select your home page preference. So if I’m going to have a pop up you may be interested in assault at least let be of the types of material I came to read in the first place. I actually find this to be a really big con bc it feels so ad like.
Unimpressed & Money Drain
The app is good in the sense you get access to stories you may not get in mainstream bookstores as these tend to be unpublished authors, hobby writers, short stories, stories in from other languages or other cultures, etc.
Otherwise, I hate the app. It’s hard to move around, they clutter your “library” with stories you didn’t select. I don’t understand half the things going on with this app. The FAQ section is longer than some of the books they “publish.” So ridiculously
Hard to move around the story if you want to scroll back to reference something. Never mind getting back to where you were. The app often forgets your place. If you’re an avid reader like me and blow thru chapters getting back to where you left off is painful. Sometimes I just stopped reading the story. Wasn’t even worth trying to find my place again it was so painful.
The stories are not edited or very little so spelling, grammar, pronouns are often mixed up, etc. I’m somewhat tolerant of these things, but I can only take so much.
Most of these authors will not be published in the mainstream. They’re a good read just not that good.
Yet I pay way more money to read these stories. One book I paid 3x what I would pay for mainstream published author. On top of lack of proper editing, etc. one person paid $50 for a story - really app devs? Now the app devs are just robbing me/us.
I read “too fast” to get anything free. So I chose to pay and support, but then paid way too much for way less in return.
I want to support unpublished authors, potential up and coming authors, and authors from different languages and cultures just not sure this is the way. Why would I pay 3x the money for less quality in story overall? That’s just not a smart investment as a consumer.
So bye app. I’m breaking up with you and I will be unsubscribing from all your ads.
Going to lose readers
This app has some incredible stories and authors who write for them. However it is very difficult to get beyond just getting into the stories. This platform is a “pay-per-view” mentality and you can either pay hundreds of dollars to enjoy the content or wait months to years to get enough fast passes to enjoy the book. My poor pockets will prevent me from enjoying the pay style method (I’m willing to buy stories for $5-10 dollars, but not $100s) My attention deficits will prevent me from finishing any one story (I only came here for one, and found I can’t get into too many before completing my original without internal frustration, so I’ll just drop all content and forego running into the dilema on a regular basis.
To the developers: if you’re making a living on the current platform, good for you. I won’t stop you. But I am unwilling to open my bank to support you. Please find a better way to help get these authors out there. I am not one to resort to illegal downloads but I am willing to pay a reasonable price.
To the authors of these stories: there are some good ones in here. I hope the majority of funds are going to authors and the contracts they sign are sound. I would like to support you but I’m not sure where the money goes.
To those looking to download the app: there is a plethora of content and stories to be found here. Some that you can readily read, others that you can spend enough time to enjoy getting hooked on a great story before the gears of capitalism require money to grease them. And I encourage you to calculate out the cost it would take to enjoy the rest of the story before jumping on it. I realize a lot of people my age have a developing frontal cortex and we have difficulty with executive functioning, so stop and calculate out the cost as it might be painful and frustrating to realize that cost; be it monetary or temporal.
Too expensive
I love reading the stories, but I have almost no money. And it’s great that the first 20 or so chapters are typically free but when there are over a couple hundred to a thousand chapters in a book and you love to binge read, paying for every chapter just doesn’t seem worth it. I’m sure people would be more willing to pay for the chapters if they were cheaper, or maybe just make an app for people to read for free, and leave tips if the book was good? I’m sure those who love to read wouldn’t mind helping an author out with tips. But you would have more people on this app if only we didn’t have to pay to read. Most books on other apps cost about.. $5-30? And those are just the higher prices, depending on the book/app you use. From what I can tell, if I were to pay for every chapter in a book with 500 chapters, I’d be paying more than if I bought it off a different app or even at a bookstore. And as I said, so many people would love to keep this app if it weren’t so pricey. We understand authors are trying to make a living but please understand that some people would like to be able to read something without having to spend the last of their food money just so they can relax after a long day of work. I’ve had this app once before because I saw a story I liked on it. I deleted it because of the lock on chapters. I had hoped it had changed a year later when I downloaded it again but it only seems to have gotten worse. I would have loved to have left 5 stars but unfortunately I can’t bring myself to here. The authors that write these stories are very creative and I absolutely love their works. However, the people running this app do not seem to have their audiences best interests in mind. I’m just saying, if the prices were lower, more people wouldn’t mind using this app, and you would probably be making more money than you are now with the ridiculous prices.
Has some quirks over Wattpad but~
Let me just start with mentioning the fact that I’ve been on Wattpad for years. I also won a competition with over a hundred plus contestants but the prize wasn’t that great. Here? You have a chance of winning 10k$ and a contract like boom. However, I heard on the web that the company from China is a bit shady. However, look it up your self, but 10k is a whole lot better than the journal and bragging rights nobody on Wattpad cares about. I’m still trying to be careful with the company though and if I win a contest I hope to brow beat them a bit but I don’t know.
The community is astounding, I made an account last week, moved my fanfiction over that’s been on Wattpad with below 50 reads, and BOOM three thousand reads and people encouraging me to keep writing. My two, flimsy books are in 100 people’s libraries (collections) and both entered the top 100 “new” weekly collections growth charts in a matter of days. After drifting around Wattpad for long I was SOO happy.
However you look at it though, both companies mentioned are looking to make money. I’m looking to make money and you are probably looking to make money. Webnovel is probably much more aggressive than Wattpad.
I like the app because I think the developers will keep the app more stable than Wattpad. I can’t name how many times Wattpad screwed up notifs and even screwed up the entire app for me in the middle of the ONC competition and then after that I was going to try for the Watty’s.
I don’t read much, but if you are a writer looking to write for fun and hone your craft I cannot kid you Webnovel is better. Maybe write a fanfic here and then your novel on Wattpad if you are worried about those pesky contracts. Get a following here, a start per se, the community is better and quicker and then with some bragging rights try to break through the sea of Wattpad. That’s my plan for now and I wish everyone luck! Have a good day!
No Realistic Ops to Earn Coins - Better Off Sticking to Radish
Saw this app recommended from a Facebook-sponsored ad. The story seemed captivating, so I downloaded the app and made it through a couple dozen chapters before more coins were needed. Understood - I understand most stories will require payment at some point...I assume this is how authors are compensated. However, I reviewed the chapter count for the story that was advertised and realized there are over 200 chapters, which means the expectation is for me the pay for the bulk of my reading.
At this point I’d already paid twice for coins to keep up with the story, so I went in search of challenges or ways to win/earn coins. To my chagrin, there are VERY minimal ways for you to earn coins or fast passes for reading outside without having to pay for more to do so. In addition, I had a do a bit of research to confirm this. There’s limited transparency on the app when it comes to this and nearly no legitimate ways to earn coins unless you win (keyword - not only participate in) detailed writing challenges, invite friends (which not everyone is comfortable with doing in a mass fashion, as many of the stories are suggestive and somewhat explicit), or pay for coin packages to get barely decent deals. To put the cherry on top, prices to advance chapters are not all uniform, even if you’re reading the same book.
The management of this app is a little disheartening to both interested readers/patrons and the artists that submit their work. But if you enjoy these types of apps, I’d highly recommend downloading the Radish or WEBTOON apps instead. Yes, I have to unlock a bulk of these stories with coins or passes but it’s muuuch easier to earn them if you’re an avid visitor on the app. That way, there are still perks and you can still purchase coins to support those artists’ work. I still plan to pay as much as my budget allows to support the story I’m reading, as I’m interested in the outcome. However, following that I don’t intend to use the app.
The ONLY app review I have ever done (because I was so appalled by these business tactics)
The UI is great, the library of available novels is incredible. There are also comics and fan fiction stories, so I have no issues with any of that (the only thing I could ask for is a Text-Speech option, I use it a lot with other novels). The issues start with the payment for the chapters.
The first few chapters of every novel are free. Once you hit the pay wall however, the chapters will cost anywhere between 3-5 “coins” (this number is from personal experience. I can’t guarantee that there aren’t chapters that cost more than this). To buy the basic number of 50 coins costs $0.99. This means that 1 USD will purchase about 10-15 chapters. Depending on the novel, this is anywhere between 30 minutes to 1 hour (this is just my personal reading speed). Considering how many chapters are in many of these stories (Martial God Asura on Wuxiaworld has more than 4000), there is a good chance that you will have to pay a LOT of money to get access to entire stories (many of which can be accessed for free elsewhere online if you spend 5-10 minutes to find them, that is a different topic). All of this already paints the apps creators as money-grubbers. The membership isn’t a bad idea... just don’t pay for anything but the first month.
All of this isn’t the worst of it though. Other translator apps do the same thing (WuxiaWorld, for example). The reason I decided to write this review is because I found something called “privilege”. You can buy the right to buy chapters that are still not open to others. I was utterly appalled when I saw this feature. It wouldn’t be quite as bad if it was indefinite (you could always read X-number of locked chapters), but nope, it expires after a set period of time (2 days 13 hours for me personally).
If I got anything wrong in this please tell me. If I don’t have to pay astronomical sums for things I can find for free elsewhere online please tell me. I probably got one or two things wrong here too, so write a comment or something if you read this.
Money sucking updates
Recently there has been some updates that has been trending toward making consumers buy more of their coins (currency bought with real money to unlock chapters). At first, every user was entitled to two daily videos a day and two novel votings that boosted these novels in their rankings for daily currency. You could expect to earn at least 25 coins (used to be called spirit stones but now they are called coins) or even more some times since the daily video could give more.
However, they recently removed one of the daily videos that gave 5 coins each day. Sure, that was acceptable to a degree, but in this most recent update we can no longer farm coins. Now, we farm daily tickets which one ticket can unlock one chapter. We can only farm 3 per day for free. This has downsides because we used to be able to unlock more chapters for the daily coins we farmed per day then the 3 chapters we are entitled daily. Secondly, we used to be able to use the coins for a monthly privilege to see hidden chapters on some novels that were ahead on their chapters. Not only that, we also need more coins that are now only obtainable with real money to unlock those hidden chapters after using coins to unlock the privilege to see these hidden chapters ahead of time in the first place!
Chinese Qidian parent company, don’t know what they’re thinking but why would someone use their app when now any pirated site can do what they do. Their only advantage is big spenders who can afford hidden chapters not available elsewhere. Other than that, why would anyone use their app when their locked chapters only un-lockable with coins paid with real money can be found online for free.
App serves no purpose now other than for big spenders (be warned, the amount of coins you need for unlocking chapters in an authors stockpile is quite large and you need to pay a lot).
I guess the other purpose of this app can now be a browser for users to see what novels are available before you google it to find it on a free website.
Customer service/support is horrendous
I’ve had to message support at least 4 times in my time using this app I’ll admit the second time it was regarding my lack of knowledge of the whole privilege chapters. Not a problem learned and dealt with. However I recently purchased coins through the app, there was a glitch during purchase and after my phone stated payment went through I noticed the coins never appeared in my app so I closed the app and reopened it. When I reopened the app again it still didn’t show so I signed out of my account and logged back in. Still nothing I checked the help screen and it stated it needed the receipt so I patiently waited for apple to send me the receipt for the purchase before bringing the case to support. When I first messaged the email with my issue l they stated I had to go through apple to get a refund. Okay sure, went to apple, made a claim again waited for results. Apple refused a refund likely because in app purchases are a bit tricky to deal with for in game currency. Went back to Webnovel live support chat with the receipts and my correspondence to apple; support person stated they needed a few more screenshots and I provided all the screenshots necessary. Again patiently awaited the response only to be told AGAIN by then that I had to contact apple as their system doesn’t show the credits were purchased BUT I PROVIDED PROOF THAT THEY HAD BEEN it was a glitch with the app that caused them not to show properly in their system.
it’s now been 1 week and 5 days since this purchase. I never received my coins apple refused a refund because of the nature of this app and I’m out money because of their system glitch. This is absolutely ridiculous. I rarely ever leave app reviews and even more rare still is it that I make reviews complaining like this but this is not okay. This whole mess makes me wary to make any further purchase at all for fear of it glitching again and me being out both coins and even more money which is a shame because I’m always finding new things to read on this app.
Almost perfect
Update:
The customer service has been awful since I made a coin purchase then did not receive my coins. The app says to contact customer service so I did with all the requested information twice with no response so I requested a refund from Apple Pay. They agreed to the refund since the in app purchase was never given but then webnovel decides to steal the coins I did receive when they never gave me those particular ones! I paid my money and should be given what I paid for or reimbursed. They won’t even acknowledge my request and are now stealing the coins I paid for! This is ridiculous! I have spent so much money on this app and now they mess up and make me pay for it with absolutely no response. I am disgusted by the lack of customer service or response to now 4 attempts to rectify this situation! I used to love this app but I think this is the last straw for me! Be careful cuz they will scam you and not think twice!
It can get a little pricey but that’s just cuz the books I’ve found the past few months are really good so that’s not why the minus star. It’s because I have to delete it and download it at least once a month, sometimes more. There’s some kind of glitch that happens when some books update chapters and I can’t get to them unless I delete it and re-download for some reason. I don’t know why. It’s so good I pay for the privilege. It doesn’t even act like it’s the end where it takes you to another page. I swipe up and it just won’t go anywhere it just stays on the page until I back out. So it’s a bit frustrating but it’s been happening for months and I’m still here so guess it’s still worth it. Apparently. Try Married to the Devils Son. One my faves. The stories are epic! Then the author MishaK has 3 stories that are amazing! 2 complete and one in progress that I jump for joy every time there’s new chapters! Wizards and vampires and werewolves! Soooo good! Yeah so still worth it! And now Missreality Bites! I have fallen in love with her Finding Stardust and The Cursed Prince and the Cursed King!
Extremely Greedy
Web novels are like fast food in literary form, but if you are reading this then you probably already knew that. Hence, this is not a review of the content ON the platform, but of the app itself: webnovel.
First, the elephant in the room: coins. At a princely 10 coins per chapter and an exchange rate of 50 coins per 1 USD in their coin shop, you get ~5 chapters for every dollar you spend. In a book that has 10-20 chapter (~$20), this is fine. However, what of web novels with hundreds of chapters? Thousands?
As of writing, the most popular novel on the platform (RSSG) has 2k+ chapters, emblematic of the problem with this app. To read RSSG from start-to-finish will set you back an easy $400 (conservative estimate because many chapters cost more than 10 coins).
$400.
For fast food.
Next are the irritating pop ups and redirects. The app will constantly pester you with recommendations for new reading material with their very own, just-as-annoying cortana -esque “assistant” that docks itself in the reader. Worse, every time you open the app you WILL be redirected to a random page when all you want to do is return to where you left off in your story.
In the time I have used it, I observed no technical issues/bugs/crashes/what have you. +1 star for that.
Finally, the premium membership is a joke. The 500 coin signing bonus is a one-off, so every month after the first entails $9.99/month for ~$6 worth of coins. Just purchase the coins directly to save $3 AND you don’t need to put up with a sneaky recurring membership. If you want to maximize coins, buy it for one month and then cancel the subscription before you are billed for the next month.
Or better yet, don’t spend a dime on this app. Time is money and reading web novels is a time sink. Tack on the stupid price this app charges and you would be better off just pursuing a Rolex collection.
TLDR: That’s a big no for me dawg. Chapter pricing is stupid and predatory. The premium membership is a joke. The UI is annoying and cluttered. Steer clear of this one.
3 strikes your out Company Always Breaks Word
Now to start I have been with Qidian/Webnovel for over 3 years.
I’m writing this now because I need to warn you of their poor business practices. I was raised to look at things from all perspectives. So I endured during the battle between Wuxia World and Qidian. I eventually got involved because translators from other sites started to be effected. At that time I read off of approx 100 different sites, including WW.
Right now I have been enjoying Webnovel’s site. However they keep changing the interface so that I cannot read easily. The forum to get things fixed is a pain to use. They say they treat their translators well but I know for a fact they are not treated equally. Stories that use to be free you have to pay for, they do have a way to earn some free spirit stones. But the company has lost its interest in taking care of their customers.
Why I’m saying 3 strikes. The final straw. They started an Elite Membership for 24.99 / mo to read all the chapters and comics. Quite expensive.
The first month was perfect. Read all I wanted all the chapters I read were unlocked and stayed unlocked. The next month the fee was paid and again all seemed happy. Until the company decided to stop the program. Did they send a notification to the members no. Did they credit back my account for ending my membership early no. Did they lock all of the chapters I read that month Yes. (Earlier that day they had all been unlocked).
The company says they did this for the authors. Which isn’t true. I read more comics because they’re very expensive otherwise. I also checked other more authors. But I believe the biggest reason why they canceled the program was because when reading some authors work you can donate SS. Those of us in the Elite Membership didn’t need all of our accumulated SS so we started to gift them to the authors. Apparently in large amounts and Qidian didn’t like this. So they canceled the Elite membership post-haste.
I cannot afford to read those comics I was reading nor can I read the other novels. So I am currently slimming down my choices, since I still have some SS (spirit stones) that I paid for. So I need to use those up.
What frustrates me is that there are some very good authors here but this company is very black hearted. So be careful if you choose to work with Qidian/Webnovel.
Sorting Titles Is A Joke
《MARCH 23, 2023》 WN added TRANSLATION FEATURE on their app. This is great as the readers can just buy the original book and translate it. However, the resulting translated work is subpar if you’re going to compare it with other Translation Software available in the market. So don’t expect much. The issue about books being sorted under the wrong language is still an ISSUE. Added to this, I kept getting books not to my selected genre. WN, please add the FEATURE where we can block Genres so we will not have a recommended books or comics. This would also be great if you can’t fix your LANGUAGE SORTING. Let us your readers tag them as “OTHER LANGUAGE” or “NOT ENGLISH” for your editors to fix. You could also remind your authors to not tag their works as ENGLISH if they’re not in ENGLISH LANGUAGE. 《NOVEMBER 16, 2022》 This is my nth time sending a review for this app. Though I am a reader who subscribed for membership for this app, I have been utterly disappointed with this company or team etc. I can’t even find my previous review for this app here. I usually update it to reflect what’s current. Anyhoo, until now, this app has an issue with their sorting their books under different translated languages. When you initially register, you will be asked if you prefer a male or female lead. Next will be your chosen language. If you choose Chinese, all the books reflected will be in Chinese language. No mishmash of books in other Languages could be seen. But if you CHOOSE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, ha, you will be surprised with the selection. Books translated in other language will be sorted under ENGLISH LANGUAGE. I don’t know if they are treating English Speaking Readers as fools or stupid when they did this. The books sorted under English will contain books translated in various Languages such as Indonesian, Malaysian, India Language, etc. This may be common for Singapore since I think a lot of their editors are based there. But it does not make sense to sort those books under English ok?! This app has other Languages to choose from aside from Chinese and English. They have Filipino, Indonesian, Malaysian, India’s Language etc. Could your team please correct this?! Also, stop your grammar correction thingee in use for your comments and reviews etc. It’s annoying as it keeps on changing our words into other words. And it adds a space between letters when here should be none.
Ridiculous nonsense, huge expense to read a good story
What happened to just buying a book and reading it?
I was hooked, after starting to read a story that came up on Facebook- so to continue reading, I downloaded this app. After several chapters, I came upon “locked” chapters. To unlock, you must pay 6-11 coins for EACH chapter, or a batch of chapters costs of course more. Apparently you can do a daily log in to earn coins to open 1 chapter a day. Chapters are only a few pages each. Most people don’t want to wait an eternity to finish a good story, so this doesn’t work for me. I tried to see just how many chapters this book has, but at 191 or so, you MUST use a “pass” to continue the ABILITY to unlock more chapters. I looked briefly into this pass, and there is a ranking system, something about gaining points by becoming a member for $10 per month, voting, doing tasks-including daily log ins, inviting friends to become members and then as you rise in ranking, you rise in privilege? Then you can read privileged chapters? So, from a quick calculation, I would have to easily spend over $50.00 US just to get to chapter 191. Then, if I have enough points, tasks complete, and a high enough ranking, I can purchase a pass to unlock the ABILITY to unlock who knows how many more chapters? Then how much more money would I have to spend? How many friends would I have to get to join to finally get to the end of this (so far) interesting story? Would I EVER be able to finish the story? Would I even own a copy of this story to read again if I wanted? I see no other way to read or even purchase this novel. I think this is taking advantage of readers in the worst way. You know that some people have no impulse control, and will pay the insane amounts of money just to finish a story. They will jump through the hoops of this pyramid scheme “reading platform” so they can find out what happens to their new favorite characters. Reading and “investing” your time/money in a good story should not be so difficult or expensive. It is supposed to be relaxing, exciting, and let you get caught up in it. You have taken the joy out of it and added anxiety, stress and a feeling of using people to get ahead. NO THANKS! I would rather purchase a book for $40.00, own it, and read it cover to cover, when I choose, on my terms- not someone else’s. If I was an author, I certainly would not put my works on here for people to be taken advantage of. DISGUSTING and a real shame!
Super expensive & unsatisfying
I like the eastern fantasy stories and don’t mind most of the translation issues I’ve encountered— but this is easily the most expensive way to read I’ve found and there’s zero expectation that a story gets to a meaningful conclusion.
Unsatisfying: I’ve had at least 6 stories I’ve unlocked >500 chapters only to find myself at the privilege chapters and a zero rate of release of new chapters (so I can choose to be dropped there or choose to pay an extra fee (as much as $20) to be dropped another 20-50 chapters along). Sometimes additional chapters NEVER release or perhaps one a month— by the time you get a new chapter you can’t recall what was going on and privileges expire each month— so to read a new chapter after getting into privileged chapters means repaying for that access. I’ve tried reading “completed” stories only to find it was actually part one of two and two is not done (so no satisfaction of finishing the book). I’ve been invited by this app to celebrate completion of the book — which gifted digital garbage and oh yeah that book months later still has not been completed (the author states the story ends at x chapter but umm needs to write more epilogues to actually tie up the storyline— so it’s still locked up with privilege and oh gee she’s working on her other works so someday when I’ve forgotten about it— I can read a few more chapters?).
Expensive and getting more so: I used to be able to buy two cheaper chapters and get several fast passes a day as a member for doing a few log in tasks… with the reformatting of fast passes i maybe get one or two that’s useful as they split them into very small groups. Illogically so. In one case two stories by the same author with similar storylines are in different categories for no apparent reason (and gee if they both fit both categories how artificial are these categories?). And my 12 coins a day now never buys more than one chapter and often isn’t enough to open one. When membership is on sale for half price— it’s actually with reduced benefits, by half, with a small increase in opportunity to win in the weekly carnival— which is usually a few points that mean about nothing. I justified $10/month of membership when I got $10 coins to start the month and daily rewards that let me read 4-5 chapters (coins and passes). At that time I fully expected I’d get to read complete stories too. Sad there’s some wonderful characters and good stories— but zero commitment to the reader on this platform.
Multiple Reviews to make Stories Appear ✨AMAZING✨
It’s the reading a book with large amounts of sexism, body shaming (about characters weight or having freckles, really, freckles), and the downplaying of toxic relationship behaviors for me.
I read only two books, Bring the Nation’s Husband Home (four stars, minor issues, definitely amateur work but holds my interest) and Beauty and the Beasts (which doesn’t deserve it’s 4.8 star status little alone one).
My issue comes with Beauty and the Beasts. Not only is the story VERY problematic and encourages negative behaviors that many women face in their lifetime like domestic abuse, body dysmorphia usually brought on by body shaming (like making fun of someone’s appearance *coughsfreckles *coughsand weight, which is constantly being brought up), they are also incredibly sexist. Which the books authors, the creators of Webnovel, could argue is suppose to reflect animal behaviors in nature can’t even pass basic biology (hint: that isn’t a leopard, and reptiles are cold blooded therefore can’t create their own heat so they rely on the sun, warm climates and probably fire if they could make one, so Curtis shouldn’t fear warmth).
The only reason I continue to read that trash they call a 4.8 star novel is because the comment section is filled with people talking about how poorly made the book is and it’s hilarious!
My other issue is the fact that people like Zoe Moses continuous are able to post MULTIPLE five star reviews to make the book appear more successful than it actually is. By the way, some of Zoe’s reviews are as follows “shshdjdhss” and “hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh” and my favorite, a bunch of heart emojis in at least two reviews, no form of critique or commentary of the actual work. While yes, she has a right to post about the book as she sees fit, Webnovel should have a review limit in place to prevent people like Zoe, because there are more than just one, from posting multiple five star reviews.
If you want a successful novel, I suggest actually spending the time to making the garbage appear less like garbage and more like amateur work thriving to be original and creative. The few people who actually critique the work are real people who actually see the issues with your story, make one thoughtful review and get swept under the rug by all your potentially fake accounts of teen girls fangirling over work you call “superior” to most other works on your app.
May I suggest you look at some other reading apps and actually take the time to critique yourselves and improve your business rather than throw out trash to your consumers and say “we did good” when you actually didn’t do anything slightly constructive. Thank you, and have a good day.
Good Content, Terrible Monetization, Spammy Comments
A big part of reading webnovels is that they update over time as they are being translated (or written, for those who read these in the original language) and the reader gets to look forward every day to reading that new morsel of story. The way that Qidian has monetized these novels is that popular novels are made ‘premium’ and in-app currency is used to gain access to the newest chapters. The chapters can still be read for free eventually, because they are released for free at half speed. So if a book is made premium at chapter 400, once premium chapter count is at 800, the first 600 chapters are free to read. Each chapter can cost 20-40 cents to read depending on the length. The problem is, once you are ahead of the free releases, if you want to stay completely up to date, you have to pay for every chapter. The free release rate doesn’t roll into the chapters that you buy. If a books premium release rate is 20 chapters a week and you pay to read 100 chapters ahead of the free releases ($10-$20), it will be two and a half months before you can read the next chapter without paying, and by then you’ll be 200 chapters further behind the premium releases, which is torturous for someone who really likes the book and wants to read it but can’t afford more of the in-app currency. An avid reader of that book which went premium at chapter 400 will end up paying between $160-320 by the time that book is at chapter 1200(and some of these books end up being 3000 chapters long). Can you imagine paying $300, or more, to read ONE BOOK? There are ways to get a little bit of free in-app currency once a day, usually enough to read one chapter, but even if you do it every day and only follow one book avidly the free currency will, at most, halve the cost. $150 to read one book is still prohibitively expensive.
Unless they change the system to make the bought chapters ‘roll’ with the free release rate, save yourself the trouble and just go to the library or buy some books. In the end, it will save you a lot of money. Download the app in a couple of years and by then there will be plenty of books that are completely translated and mostly or completely free. By then, you can binge read to your hearts content.
My other complaint is less important but the way the ‘level’ system is set up encourages users to comment as a way to get ‘experience points’. This ends up with popular books having hundreds of comments on each chapter, with the majority being spammy comments like ‘greetings from the EXP sect’. This makes what would have otherwise been a fun forum for discussion a worthless trip, as you have to trudge through piles of trash to find anything relevant to the actual content of the chapter.
Could be better
There are a lot of books accessible within this app. Half of them are made by amateurs, (some of which you can determine so with just a glance at their titles,) and part of the rest can be considered alright but have to be accessed by stones...or whatever stupid name they're called...moonlight stones? To be clear, these stones are the passes to read further chapters.
Straight to the points.
You can find most of these stories anywhere on the internet without wasting your time earning "stones" or waiting for chapters to be translated to read them. The ones you can't find are usually pretty amateure-ish anyways, *coughlike the ones on Wattpad *coughwhich I gladly avoid. Ex: "The Beginning After the End" Great story, ongoing at 200-something chapters, accessible for free on the author's website. Within the app, 90 chapters of the same story can be accessed and most of them require stones. ugh. Some people actually pay for the rip-off stones just to access a few chapters...what a pity.
I add stories to my library cause' I like to read very much. The thing is, sometimes these stories disappear out of my library. I refresh the library page, not there. I exit out of the app, clear the app's history from my phone, then enter once again, not there. I check my history of read books within the app and the history's jacked up- inaccurate. It's like I've dreamt of reading the book and it never existed in the first place. Plus, I read a ton of books daily so I can't be bothered to remember all the titles of my books while living my life at the same time.
Another point I want to talk about, the search for stories. Finding stories should be more convenient, like how you can easily find novels on NovelUpdates. (But to be honest, there's not a lot of genres within the app anyway. An example is that there's very little LGBTQ stories, just a whole lot of cheesy straight romances from the woman's pov or are centering around the woman. I'm sick of seeing titles like "Provocative Fiery Wife", "The CEO's Wife is a Werewolf", "THE CEO'S Wife is the Famous Painter", "The CEO's Darling Wife", etc. too boring, too much of the same thing. at this point, after encountering these types of stories, I feel like bleaching my eyes...multiple times)
This is how I feel, these are my experiences. I'll alter my review if anything changes.
Update one day later after typing the above^^: Went back to a book I was reading about 30 mins ago in my library, and it was bookmarked about 20 chapters away from where I actually left off. Had to waste my time finding the correct page. 10/10 satisfaction ^_^ neheheheehehe
Another update a day later: You can't delete your account nor can you delete any drafts of stories unless you contact one of the system administrators/mods. Those stories you wish to rid of will just sit there, unpleasant to the eye. As for published stories, I hope you can delete them yourself, but I'm not sure- if not, then what a nightmare.
One last thing, the lvl system is dumb. The things I do to earn exp aren't earning me anything, and no, I'm not redoing the ones that I've already completed. it's ridiculous
A History Of Phasing Out Free Spirit Stones
Simple declaration of intent to the App Creators: I can not, will not, pay 25 dollars a month to read stories I do not own and could lose access to forever by simply cancelling my exorbitant subscription or deleting an app from my phone!
—
For those who are new to this platform, this is Wattpad from China translated to English, where they hook you on early chapters then require you either subscribe for $25/month to keep reading or spend the scant resource “Spirit stones” you gain by doing a few tasks to contribute to the community—or purchase in-app if you need more.
A History of Spirit Stone (SS):
I have been connected to this community since near the beginning, for about a year and a half. They pulled us in by translating many good series and giving plenty of SS
with which to read them. Then thing changed. I took a break after they started becoming more militant and stingy with their free SS, even setting an expiration date on them when they had been a hordable resource for months. At the time, I had stored up over 900 Spirit stones following their rules. Those spirit stone expired within weeks after that.
Several months later, I came back for a single series. I actually have paid about $15 in $3 increments to catch up on a single series over the past couple of months, a series to which I also dedicate pretty much all of my SS. I’m within 120 chapters of being caught up now, and they have again reduced the amount of SS they give for completing tasks, removing the check-in SS in my latest pull.
Enough is enough! If I can’t even follow a single series because Webnovel is forcing a decision by taking away a mechanic they set in place without reason or warning, I will drop the platform. Changing the rules of the game is not fair play, especially if they are doing it on an individual basis...which they might be for all I know! No announcements means I can’t check with others if they have received the same treatment.
My plan was to get caught up slowly, then spend extra to read another series, but this is looking more and more impossible. I understand that they have to make money for their writers and translators, but they are stepping all over their more casual users to do so. This platform is not worth $25 per month unless people are reading dozens of the series. Even then, the manipulations get old fast.
Webnovel! Please, find a way to introduce people to a series and let them follow that single series for a reasonable rate or you will lose all your casual readers. This might not worry you, but it should because new readers start as casual! I’d even considered the possibility of paying a one-time fee for a large number of chapters like I would for a book from a store. But I won’t be nickel and dimed to death over digital content you could pull at a moments notice.
Yes, I have that little trust in your brand integrity, Qidian.
!TAKE NOTE, NEW USERS!
I recommend to all you readers and writers alike that you take note of the gradual changes they subject you to. The manipulation is clear and I feel sorry for their writers and translators for having to deal with the user blowback caused by the publisher’s unethical practices!
Before purchasing actual coins please read
I had originally had this rating as a 5 star. I was reading another app that got migrated over to here. If I wanted to continue reading the stories, I had to read them on here. Once I realized how to use the app, I started to like it. There are ways to get free passes to read a few chapters a day. Check in daily and there is a bonus check in as well. Some are exp, so are passes for certain types of novels or comics. If you check in all 7 days then you get free site wide pass. There is a free watch video that will give a pass once a day. There is a power stone use that give a free pass. To use this, you just need to go to the end of the chapter, before scrolling to next chapter you will see a vote at bottom right. Click on this and it says golden ticket (you get this with sub) and power stone. You get 1 power stone daily, if you have a sub you get 2. You can use your free daily power stone to get one free pass. After you use 1 you will not get another pass if you use 2+. There is also one to get from energy stones. You get 1 daily from this as well and it gives a free pass. Click go under vote with energy stone. This will take you to an area. In top right it has voting pool where you can click vote to choose a book that you recommend to come out or be promoted. A few random times you will come across a hidden customized objective to read a daily recommendation for 20 min. Some times you get exp but sometimes it can be a free pass. Read a story for 20 min and sometimes you have to click read more chapters to get the full 20 min. It has told me a few times when I went to stop reading, would you like to continue and then shows I only read 13 out of 20 min. So that’s very helpful. Once a week you can use your exp in the store very bottom to spend 2k exp to get free pass. You can only do this once a week, but another way to get a free pass. These are a few ways to few ways I know to get free passes. If you want to see what passes you have, click on profile, click on the number above fast passes, then the green box that has the number of fast passes click the arrow. This will bring you to a section that shows the types of fast passes you have and what they are for. Some requirements give you fast pass for certain books, some give you for different categories ie fantasy romance novels, magical realism novel, contemporary romance novels, hot blooded comic, etc. You would need to use them for something that is in that category, some I think fall under that category is not in the category if that’s not what author indicates. You can click on the pass here to use and it will take you to the category with a bunch of novels/comics that fit the category. Maybe you can find a new story you like. I purchased multiple monthly subscriptions with this app cause I really like the stories and want the coins to continue to read. Some stories feel like they are worth the amount but only a few. Some chapters are short and they are pricey, so are short and reasonable, some are long and cheap. It is up to you on if the price is worth it. I really don’t think if they were released to a manga or novel they could get away with charging as much as they do on here. I spent over 50$ before realizing how much I spent on a comic that would not be more than 2 mangas at most. It’s up to you. Now, here is for the reason rating went from 5 stars to 3 stars. I finished up a chapter and wanted to read a few more chapters and had no more coins or passes. Where it shows purchase coins at the beginning of next chapter so I can continue to read, it said 7.99 originally 9.99 you get 500 coins + 312 (?). Now sometimes it will show bonus coins if you use PayPal or a card instead of Apple Pay. So thinking this was a good deal for 7.99 I went ahead and got these coins. I have Face ID on so of course going through the usually I didn’t realize until it ok it that I was actually being charged 9.99. I then looked at WebNovel purchase history and it said charged 9.99 for the subscription. I immediately contacted support. Now, I won’t write here who was the first person I talked to, but I did inform the second person how they treated me and their name. The first person first response was it was Apple that was charging me for this and it could be because of state or taxes. I informed them that it was not them and what is said that amount is is what they charge me. Then they said it was me cause I was not a first time subscriber. I felt they were blaming others and calling me a liar. I felt very dishonored and disrespected. My inner Karen came out and told them to escalate the issue. They wanted my Apple transaction information and id stuff. I had to call Apple and a very nice lady helped me since I use a gift card and it’s very hard to find this information. She was very nice and helpful and wished me luck on getting it fixed. She even offered to cancel and refund the amount though I honestly would have gotten the sub if I known it was the sub and the price I was paying was saying the price I was paying so I kept it. It’s $2 I know but it’s the meaning on how it was taken that feels wrong. If I know only 1st buyers get that and everyone else is 9.99 I would have expected the 9.99. The second person actually seemed like they were reading what I was saying and basically blamed it on me since I was not first time buyer. I explained that it said no where first first time buys and it was at the end of the chapter where you purchase coins. I didn’t even know I was buying a sub. They said they would report it on feedback and to be aware for future that I can’t get first time subscription discount. Once again, was told it was my fault. So what to take away from this If you already purchase a subscription from them, you will no longer get a discount for them. If it shows you are getting a discount assume you have to pay the full amount. It will not inform you, but you will not get a discount. Ever! You pay full amount always

Privilege.
I recently bought on July 1st a Privilege for 500 coins, not including the 112 coins for the 12 chapters included, but the author in question hasn't posted for the entire month. I was robbed out of the last of my coins and the best your customer service could do is say sorry when there is clear precedent for me to expect something. There was not even an announcement to relay me of any breaks.
Desired outcome: I want an apology and a full or partial refund of my 500 coins or equal reimbursement.
Quite the big oof
This review is solely for the web comic part of the app, I have not tried the others and definitely will not be trying them after my experience.
Terrible app, you have to pay for every single chapter you want to read, and apparently you can get like one free chapter per day. Horrible. They should do it like WEBTOON does, where all old chapters are free after they have been out for a couple of weeks. This alone stops you from reading practically anything. Even worse was, when I did get my daily free chapter, the chapter loaded at about three frames every minute or two, and eventually just stopped. So the one paid chapter that I actually tried to read, I couldn't. And I know it wasn't just me, because the in-chapter comments, called "bulletags" were just a bunch of people saying that the chapter won't load.
Terribly set up, everything's behind a paywall, and once you get behind the paywall it just decides to never load. Don't bother downloading this, just stick with LINE WEBTOONS.

Fix the Fast Passes
This app has a lot of good content and I like that I can read a lot for free if I’m patient, but the rate at which you can do so has gotten worse and worse. You used to be able to get and use 3 Fast Passes a day to unlock any chapter of any series, but this has changed 2 Fast Passes that you can use like that and 1 ‘genre specific’ Fast Pass that dictates not only the genre, but book type (comic vs novel). If you read Romance Comics, but get a Mystery Novel fast pass for your daily login, you can’t use it without starting a new series that you may not even care about. Having only 2 real passes a day has significantly decreased my progress on reading many of my stories. Some of which are still releasing chapters. I don’t mind if you want me to watch ads in exchange for real fast passes, but at least get rid of the genre specific stuff. People complain about ads, but if you give them the choice to watch an ad for an extra pass, then it’s on them if they want to watch it and you get the ad pay.

80% Behind a Paywall
I downloaded this app after seeing absolutely ridiculous (and often times inappropriate) ads for it, to read and see what it was actually like. In terms of app design, and usage, it’s very nice! It looks good, it’s easy to use, and has a dark mode.
Unfortunately, all of the novels are behind a paywall. In a book that had over 1000 chapters, I could only read to chapter 19 before getting locked out of the book. I completely understand wanted to support the translators, but having to pay for chapters that have been out for years (as it tracks when it was posted) feels dirty to me. It didn’t make me want to buy coins, or motivate me to even read any other novels. With such a system, I deleted the app.
If you are going to keep a system like this (which I understand to a certain level, there are people that need to be supported behind these stories), do it better. Do something similar to other sites, where newest chapters are behind a paywall, but eventually become free. But not this current system.

Sexist Questionaire
Hi all - I gave this app 1 star for the initial sexist categorization of new readers.
The app opens with :
Tell us your preference to get better recommendations.
FEMALE LEAD STORIES - more romance, fan-fic, etc.,
MALE LEAD STORES - more action, sci-fi, etc.,
While I don’t find the preference for male or female lead stories particularly note worthy (one might like to read from the perspective of lead characters along gender lines) the categorization of romance, and fan fiction as a female thing, and that action and sci-fi is a male perspective, is incredibly sexist. I prefer action stories with a female lead. Why is this not an option?
A proposed solution to Webnovel would be “please select your interests to get better recommendations” and then a list of categories in which users may select to designate preferences that often do not fit along outdated gender “norms”.
Needless to say, I immediately deleted the app. Webnovel- feel free to reach out if you fix the front. I was looking forward to reading new web comics.

Fallen from greedy mediocrity to drooling for money
I’ve been reading on Webnovel for 2 years, or at least trying. In the beginning, it was a bit ridiculous how much they tried to squeeze pennies, then dimes, out of readers for every chapter. The chapters were released in an agonizingly slow manner because the poor translators got paid per chapter, and I imagine some other complicated pay structure. Then they kept squeezing tighter and tighter until you really can’t read more than 3-4 chapters a day without putting in more money than most people spend on groceries in a month.
The thing that they haven’t considered, which makes the most sense, is a Kindle Unlimited type of set up. One flat rate for renting their materials for a month. Why should I have to pay for limited access when I don’t even own the material in the end anyway? (There’s no downloading a whole book here.) If they make people feel happy and at home with a subscription service, or a way of buying a complete novel (that you can actually own), that would make people happier to give out their money to support this company.

Currency issues and problem trading in points
I’ve been a user of this app for a while (about half a year) and so I’ve seen the forcible transition from spirit stones to fast passes.
I liked the format of the app and some of the content, so I stayed despite a lot of the issues surrounding the currency change. I’m even a level 4 user, which should show that I’ve been a frequent reader too. One problem is the fact that a Fast Pass covers a chapter, no matter how long it is — 500 word chapter vs 1000, it all costs the reader the same.
My main issue, however, which is basically why I’m considering dropping the app, is that I can’t even trade in my accumulated points for fast passes at this point. I read a lot, so I accumulate a lot of points. However, they’re just sitting there like dead currency because I can’t trade them in for fast passes at the “store.”
What’s the point of any of this, then? I get three fast passes a day and frankly that’s not enough for the content I get in return. It’s a feedback loop asking for more and more money from people who obviously can’t spend it.
I’m probably switching to another app.

Worst App Ever
I was really excited when I downloaded this app and started reading the stories and comics, but was quickly disappointed. The cost to read one chapter is ridiculous considering most times the chapter is incredibly short and you get no plot development at all. This wouldn’t be horrible if there were more ways to earn coins or fast passes, but unless you spend money, you either have to save up your passes and coins or be satisfied(or rather dissatisfied) with reading the equivalent of a page worth of story a day. And even if you do try to earn ways to read chapters, the app is so glitchy that you’ll sit through ads only to realize you never got the fast pass it promised. Also, when the app updated, it erased all the progress I made in my stories and all the coins I had saved up. This meant I couldn’t even read a new section every day, I had to earn enough passes to get me to a point where I was actually progressing in the story. I am often left frustrated and I feel like the only way you can enjoy this app is if you’re willing to spend money, which I can’t. Total waste of time. Better apps like Webtoon out there.

Disappointed
I have been reading on this app for years! The stories are great the setup was easy and I did not mind paying for extra coins to read. Overall it WAS one of the best apps out there! I have now dropped them from a 5 star to a 2 and the only reason it is a two is for the writers and artists who do such a wonderful job! When they added the privilege purchases they turned into a money hungry app and the privilege never works. I had the same issue happen twice, where I had read and paid for chapters and needed to purchase the privilege. What you don’t know is with the privilege even if you read and paid for chapters it doesn’t matter. You will get the same chapters you already read and paid for before until a ton of money getting coins to purchase a en higher privilege to purchase more chapters under the privilege. Yep it doesn’t unlock the chapters for you it gives you access for you to pay for them. And the customer service is a joke! They can’t help you, compensate, or fix the issue. Instead they talk to you like you are an idiot and do. It understand anything. So if you like spending tons of money to pay for something 3 times just to read one chapter this is the app for you.

Accounts
I have way to many problems with accounts on web novel. The first is if you have two accounts with separate emails and want to delete one so you can save the other your not allowed. Meaning if one email might get deleted soon then there is no way to save the account you want.
Second is a broken trick to anyone wanting to have massive amounts of power stones on a book you written. If you make two accounts and write a book on one and read on the other then the one you read on will level up increasing powerstones daily for voting. Pretty much at you could give power stones to your books by having the second account instead of having to have people actually like it.
For instance a level 1 account receives one daily power stone. A level two count two power stones daily. Well two times seven is fourteen. That is a easy fourteen power stones a week. There is about 52 weeks in a year. 14 times 52 is 728 powerstones a year. Pretty much you can give your books a bigger chance at being noticed useing this method.
You cannot get in trouble as I actually asked about his and they said because accounts are valid it is okay. Kinda of dumb they allow that but not the delete of your own account.

I’m finished with this app
I’ve been a using this app for almost 2 years and for the 1st year I didn’t have many issues. Yes, you had to pay a lot to read, but I had a nice pace of reading 3 comics daily because of their free 3 fastpass system, but now they implemented a new fastpass that can only be used on a specific genre meaning you only get 2 fastpasses to use in whatever you want, really causing a huge slower pace to my daily reading. I’ve read my share of comics on here and I want to continue, but this app is also having a constant problem of logging me out and having the possibility of forgetting all my comics once I sign in again, I took measures to write down each comic I read to remember what I had, but now its constantly logging me out more than previously and forgetting the last chapters i’ve read. They have measures to “synchronize”each of my last chapters, but it never works. Meaning that out of the 20+ comics and some with over 100-200 chapters, I have to personally click on the comic, view “about this book”, click on chapters, scroll ALL the way to the bottom, click on the last chapter I can remember reading last, back out, back out, back out, and repeat the process for each chapter. It was a good run, but time to let go.

Stealing Money! I’m not getting what I paid for!
Hey, this isn’t fair! Your app isn’t giving me what I paid for!
There’s a story I’m really enjoying, so I keep buying coins and privileges to finish it.
I had only 28 chapters left. So I bought 16 chapters to unlock. Then I needed a few more so I bought 24 chapters to unlock. Which is 40 chapters that should be unlocked. That’s more than enough!
But the story keeps locking back up, and saying I need to buy more! Even though I have plenty of chapters I PAID FOR to be unlocked!
And it did this before! It isn’t giving me all the coins I paid for! And it didn’t give me all the privileges I paid for earlier either! It’s stolen over 30 chapters from me that I paid for!
Also, it’s stolen more! It deleted the chapters I earned with normal reading points! I was on chapter 183 out of 211, and I closed the app and returned to it the next day, and RESET me back down to chapter 4!
Then I had to use all my points to re-open the chapters I had already previously opened!
Your app has probably stolen over $30-40 from me, at this point! Because it keeps deleting what I paid for, or erasing what I used the points/coins/privileges for, as if it never happened!
This is terrible!
Give me a refund, and fix your app.

Kind of sketchy, in my opinion
I was invited to use this app via private messaging on Watt pad, which was kind of strange in the first place.
I downloaded the app and proceeded to publish a chapter of my story that was already on Watt pad.
My computer glitched which resulted in me not being able to see the terms of service (for publishing), which was worrying. I tried to see if the terms of service was on a different part of the website but couldn’t find it at all. (Which is kind of sketchy)
I turned to customer service and rather than easily being given the terms of service, I was redirected to another source.
Being given an external source that wasn’t a certified website made me uncomfortable, so I went to delete my account. As I tried to delete it, I was told that I cannot do so if I have a story up. I thought it was strange but went to delete my story. To my surprise,
There is NO way to delete my story. That just confuses me.
Even customer service told me there was no way to do so.
Customer service was actually helpful in the end, and advised me to delete the story chapters instead and delete the app if I didn’t feel comfortable. Thank you to customer service, but the app itself is sort of sketchy.
(Also- I don’t like how there are male and female lead categories, I find it sort of sexist)

Deceitful practices
This app/ website does have some fun stories to read, but Webnovel only acts as the middle man. Anything that is directly related to webnovel is bad. Many of the ads have “misplaced” x marks so that it takes you a long time to get out of ads. The in app currencies they have, have changed a lot in the past year. I understand they are looking for the best model however they also purposefully misdirect you in a lot of small ways to try and dupe you or frustrate you into making purchases.
The rankings and reviews on the website are straight manipulated. It’s clear bot accounts are used by some of the novels in order to boost their position. Finding something that you like may take some time because of this.
The organizational ability of the novels you are reading is slowly catching up to the point that it should be at. How ever it is still lacking and needs updates.
The app looks relatively polished at cursory glance. Upon regular use there are a lot of questionable designs which makes you wonder if the people that made the app have ever used it. The holds really true when using power stones which is something that most would use daily.
TLDR; The app/site is slightly bad the company itself seems to be nothing but manipulative. Best use for the site is to look for novels you like and google it to see if there is another website that hosts the story.

Offered a Contract. Here’s my experience after researching
I got offered a contract for this app with my current story on Wattpad. While at first I was honored, like any person I decided to look into it.
I quickly realized that in my position, this seemed very good. I would receive royalties for my story every time someone purchased a chapter. Just as I was about to respond, I decided to read through the reviews and quickly changed my mind.
Turns out, you have to buy a majority of the chapters (not just a few, which is what I had assumed), which are very overpriced. Apparently, even though it mentioned several stories costing around 250 coins (I don’t remember the exact cost ), multiple customers mentioned that there were still several more chapters that weren’t unlocked with the given amount.
Honestly, if people have to pay so much money to read a book I could publish for free, maybe even getting scammed off of it just for *mybenefit? Even I wouldn’t want to do that on some random book, I’d immediately lose interest. That also means that the author loses money! Seriously, just get Wattpad. It has a good deal of these stories for free anyway.
Overall if you really want money after getting this contract proposal, okay. Just know several people have claimed they had people tell them what to write in their stories or the app just hired other people to basically steal their idea and write the book for them. Apparently, if they fire you or you call off the deal, you are also required to pay back all you have earned.
Not worth it.

Poor customer service and app function. Find a different app!
My experience with this app recently has not been a good one. The app will frequently log your account out for seemingly no reason and this past week my app crashed and was unable to load at all. I was sad about this but not upset and patiently waited for a bug or patch fix to come out and resolve the issue. (This was after I had exhausted all other troubleshooting methods.) it took about a week before I was able to get back into the app, and when I finally did I found that the app had taken away about 3-4 days worth of in game currency that I had earned. (There is a strict limit on how many free passes you can earn a day.) So I reached out to customer support to see if I could get them back, customer support had me on the line for OVER TWO HOURS just to tell me that I lost the passes due to inactivity on my account and it was ‘outside their policy’ to issue me new ones. Despite the fact I tried to log in and it was this apps failure that caused me to not log in and use them. It overall led to a very disheartening, frustrating and exhausting result: too bad, so sad. They have no accountability or responsibility for the app they are putting out and I strongly recommend finding a different app to read on. There are plenty of better ones available. If I could rate 0 stars I would!
EDIT: I read through other reviews and found a bunch of people with the same problem. Then I tried to contact their customer support again and they ignored me for over 45 min! Still waiting for a response that will never come...

Greed beyond bounds
This app is the greediest, scummiest excuse of a reader I’ve seen since Bookwalker’s garbage system. Stories are, most of the time, unreasonably expensive for the lack of editing and poor writing quality. The “privilege” system is even more ridiculously expensive, forcing you to spend money *twiceto read recent chapters. The app is incredibly pushy with all its stupid events and promos that they run constantly, which are almost never actually worth even clicking on. There is little to no quality control on the stories they promote, with plenty of stunningly-bad writing being held up as some sort of trophy. And finally, they shove it down your throat that you need to spend huge sums of cash to read anything. You get 3 free chapters a day, which is maybe 5-10 minutes of reading, and they recently changed the daily login fast pass to a “genre-specific” pass, which is basically a giant middle finger to people who are reading something other than the specified genre. I got a “hot-blooded comics” pass (or something like that) today, when all I read is video games/fantasy story. Like, come on, they’re already so stingy and greedy, and this is just stepping it up another notch. It’s painfully obvious that it was a calculated decision to try to squeeze just a little more money out of people. Stay away from this app. Find your stories elsewhere.
Update as of December 2022: not only has the above not improved, the audio feature of the app doesn’t function properly and won’t let you pick any voice other than the default eardrum-splitting robot.

Only care about your money
Oh did you open the app? Here’s 2 pop-ups one for novels you don’t like and the other asking you to get a membership. What they don’t tell you is that buying a member ship is when they put a gun to your account’s head, because in order to cancel your membership you have to DELETE your account. I found this out after trying several times to tap on the hyperlink in the fine print to view membership details but kept missing because of how small it was (I have an iPhone 8 so there’s plenty of empty screen to use), and when I did get to my membership information where there was a cancel button: it just tells you that “you have to cancel your subscription to delete your account”. No, I didn’t make a typo, they did and I kept it in (if you didn’t notice, the message should swap “cancel your subscription” and “delete your account”); so the cancel subscription button tells you that you have to cancel your subscription if you take it literally and only if you fix it do you FIGURE OUT how to cancel your subscription (by deleting your account as stated at the beginning). This is just the tipping point of making me leave a review, there are plenty of times where I’ve watched ads for rewards that were just never given even if I tried again, or when a little longer ago (I think the stopped doing this) my reading would be interrupted by pop-ups from the app, or even longer ago when my in-app currency would just expire like 1 or 2 days after I got it when it was supposed to last I think 7 or more. This app just wants your money and will be as sneaky about getting it as it can.

For Webnovel Fanfic Overgeared: Transmigrated as a super named npc but also as a player. There was a disgusting comment made by Kurdi123 about the authors mother which made the author quit writing the fanfic. He didn’t just criticize or offer solutions, but talked about rape.
