I bought a Litter Robot about 18 months ago
I bought a Litter Robot about 18 months ago. Mechanically it worked fine for about the first year. Functionally it has been a disaster. There simply isn't enough litter in the machine to absorb the amount of urine that one of my kitties produces and so there is always stuck on clumps of litter after the machine cycles. I have tried every kind of letter made and nothing works. I was concerned about this when I bought it and read many, many reviews. Some of which reported having large cats and highly rating the machines. After about a year, the Robot stopped working and customer service was very responsive and replaced the base. Unfortunately, this process meant that the Robot wasn't working for about 2 weeks. In that time I had no choice but to go back to litter pans.. We are still using them, because while the machine mechanically works fine, the problem of inadequate litter still remains. A very expensive mistake that I hope others will not make if they read my story and have similar issues with their cat.
I don't usually like to write reviews, but thought I should after reading some of them here
I don't usually like to write reviews, but thought I should after reading some of them here. I have not had much interaction with customer service, so cannot speak to that. I have had my LR3 for about a year and for the most part am very happy with it. I had an LR2 and really liked it, but it started falling apart so decided to upgrade. I REALLY liked the LR2 for several reasons. The biggest advantage was that the disposal drawer was bigger. I have 3 cats that use the box and with the LR3 I have to change the bag 3 times a week, which I only had to do once with the LR2. I also ordered the stairs...very expensive what they are and I am always dumping litter out of them. I find that my cats are tracking just as much litter through the house as they do with a regular cat box, which is pretty frustrating. BUT, I don't have to SCOOP litter any longer, which is a great plus! All in all, great product - but hoping this one lasts a long time, as I don't think I would spend that much on another one any time soon. Thank you.
Overall I like the litter robot. *** is amazing. Had some issues with it and they were great with trouble shooting and sending replacement parts to solve the problems, responded timely to my emails and were very understanding when a lot of companys arent these days. I have 3 cats so the waste drawer does need emptied often but as to be expected. Overall I would recommend this product.
My Litter Robot 3 is a life saver! Just bagging up the litter and replacing a new bag, with occasional cleaning is terrific. The kitties took to it immediately. I would recommend it to all who have cats!
I am a huge fan of the liter robot. It took a couple of times to get the cats (2) used to it, but once they saw that it was safe (and kind of cool to be in) there were no issues after. This has been a major time saver, and very convenient as you can go up to a full week or so without having to empty the tray. I also travel for my job and my cat sitter thinks this is the greatest liter box ever invented. I highly recommend this product.
We love our Litter Robot! It is the best thing since sliced bread! I mean, seriously, who likes scooping the cat box? We dont smell cat ***, we dont have to scoop the box, I dont have to worry about anything! I literally just wait for the Litter Robot to alert me that the bag needs to be changed and it takes all of two minutes to dispose of the old bag, put the new bag in and reset the box! When it needs to be cleaned, the process is simple and easy. I will admit, I DID baulk at the price initially, however, it is THE BEST INVESTMENT I HAVE EVER MADE. I LOVE IT.
We have two of their litter boxes and both give us problems
We have two of their litter boxes and both give us problems. The first box the company did send a replacement board, but the board was bad. We placed it in the litter rebot and nothing would work; so we had to place the old board back in the machine. The older litter box tells us several times a day that the bonnet has been removed, when in fact it hasn't. The newer litter box is always saying that it has over torqued. I have contacted customer service in the past, but they want so may pictures; that I feel that they are just trying to find ways to get out of supporting their products. Another issue that we have been having is that the machines do not register when our cats go into the boxes. We only use self clumping regular weight litter and all our cats are over 10 pounds, but numerous times a day I have to hit the button to clean the boxes. At this point I hate contacting customer support because they tell me to try several things; that I tell them I have already done; and then they want so many pictures. Our sons have asked us about the products and I tell them that they will have to keep an eye on them. I also tel them what problems they have, so they won't order them for their homes.
I have two Litter Robot 3's and 2 Litter Robot Feeders and they work pretty good, but when I have an issue there is no way to get in touch with anyone. I am currently waiting on some information because one of my Litter Robot 3 has a issue and no one will return my e-mail or chat is never available.
Litter robot was the best decision I ever made I love it of it not too sure about the new one but but the 1 I have is fantastic fantastic I love it it would be a great decision for any cat lover the way to go
I have had 2 robots for over 3 years. One is wi-fi, but I never use that feature and it isn't really necessary for me. Now and then they get stuck, but it's an easy fix. My cats use it regularly, they do have a cat box room as well, to give them a choice. One is in the living room and the other in the finished basement next to the cat box room. They are very easy for them to access. I wouldn't leave a bad review even with the glitches, as it is very easy to clean, change, etc. One thing, there will still be litter around the Robot when they come out of it and I just keep my vacuum handy and to it daily. I gifted one to my niece who said it was a game changer for her. Hope this helps with your decision.
I have 10 indoor cats due to feral kitten rescue and 2 previous shelter cats. I wasnt planning on all these kitties, but having litter robots make it possible. Saves on litter, and no odor! No scooping either. When the kittens were very tiny, I put them in the robot to teach them. They learned very quickly! I have one very large kitty, well over 20# that fits fine. They are a bit costly, and I did hesitate at first, but I saved to purchase the first after a friend recommended it. I was so thrilled, I quickly purchased a second and then 1 more to follow. My thoughts were a litter box for every2 cats, but this seems to do the trick! I have one on each level of my home. The biggest recommendation I have is always keep the litter level at the line inside the globe. In my family room, I keep a big planter filled with litter and a fake plant on top with a scoop. inside. Easy peasy! I have one upstairs in an unused bedroom, and do the same thing. The other is in my basement. If you are creative, it makes having a kitty so easy! Just replace the bag when the blinking light tells you to. Dont hesitate like I did. It was the best thing I did for myself. Even if I had one cat, its well worth it. No fuss, no muss!
I am quite surprised by the negative responses listed here although with only 11 responses one can get an unbalanced set of comments
I am quite surprised by the negative responses listed here although with only 11 responses one can get an unbalanced set of comments. I have been a customer for more than 25 years, going back to the original LR1 series (the LR4 is the latest version). In that time I have purchased at least seven or eight units: LR1, LR2, and LR3--no LR4 as of yet. At different times, I have had up to five indoor cats living with us. The units have all worked well but they have acted up on occasion. I have always found customer service to be responsive and helpful. During that time, they have, on occasion, given advice on how to fix the problem, sent parts for replacement, or sent full replacement base units. As the company has grown and their customer base has grown with it, I suppose it is possible that their customer service has diminished. However, I recently had two opportunities to interact with them in the past six months and still found them knowledgeable and helpful. I will also point out that I have a lot of experience with their product, so I might be more patient when something goes wrong. No one want a malfunctioning cat box--especially when one gets used to not having to scoop it manually!I give them my unqualified support and approval.

With the addition of a second rescue cat last year we found that scooping a conventional litter box wasnt a good idea for someone with back issues. A lot of research went in to decide to get a litter robot. The ease of use for me and that of my cats was great. Pros No more scooping everyday I only need to change the bag in the drawer twice a week The litter recommended can be delivered to your home monthly or whenever is convenient for you. Plus you use less litter by using whiskers brand than using store bought litter and it controls the odor too. I tried store bought and I ended up having to change the drawer every other day.The app is great! You can tell if your getting close to a full drawer or start a clean cycle without being home. Cons It is the most expensive of all other self cleaning machines and the litter is on the high side too.The size, it is large & not appealing to look at. I have mine in the bathroom & seeing the inside of it was not what I wanted. I fixed that by turning it to face the corner. I then had an issue with turning it around to clean the drawer. We screwed the bottom to a movers dolly. I can now move it to clean with ease!Over all I am very satisfied with my purchase. I gave 4/5 stars based on the size only.
I am absolutely blown away by all of the negative comments on here
I am absolutely blown away by all of the negative comments on here. I bought my LitterRobot about 4 years ago after much debate over whether I wanted to spend that kind of money on a litter box. Well, I did! I bought the extended warrantee also. About three weeks before my extended warrantee ran out the box quit cycling completely---yellow light flashing fast. I called and left my number and got a call back quickly. I explained to the agent what it was doing and she said I would get the replacement part with instructions. Since I am fairly handy for an old lady I took the box apart and replaced the faulty part. Worked great----for about three weeks then the same thing. I called back and explained. This time the agent said I would be getting a new base. Keep in mind I was over the warrantee date at that time. Got my replacement and it's still cycling away. BTW, I have four cats so this thing is fantastic. If it quits totally and can't be fixed I will buy another! I have had other automatic litter boxes but there is no comparison. The clumps do tend to pile up on the left side so I shake the drawer to redistribute the waste after about 2 days. It will go another day and a half so I only change the bags about every three and a half days. Not bad for four kitties!
I love the Whisker, also known as the Litter-Robot
I love the Whisker, also known as the Litter-Robot. I am insanely surprised at the negative reviews because I have had nothing but amazing interactions with customer service. I have had a Litter-Robot 3 for at least SIX years. I still have that litter robot along with 2 others. I had a single Litter Robot being used by 4 adult cats for 4 years and it is still going strong. I did buy the extended warranty also. I didn't have any problems for the first 2 years of owning it, but like with any electronic there will be issues, especially being used so much. Whisker helped me troubleshoot any and all problems. The few times I needed help I got parts ASAP, and my Litter-Robot was up and running like new. I love that they build their products to be easily fixed yourself, even if you don't have a warranty. Their parts are reasonable, unlike other companies that basically force you to buy a whole new unit. I did have an issue with one of my robots since Covid started and noticed waiting time was long, but I have noticed that with EVERY company I have to get ahold of. The nice thing is they offer a call back option instead of waiting on the phone, and they have called me back each time I have used it. I have been saying for years I wish every company I deal with cared about their products the way Whisker/Litter-Robot does.

After reading these few reviews, I can only say while I did initially endure problems both with the operation of my litter robot AND getting ahold of a "live" representative by phone, ultimately they not only stood behind their product, they went overboard in dealing with my problem. When no easy fix could be found and AFTER my warranty had expired, their customer service department shipped me a NEW Litter-Robot and paid to have my first one returned at their cost so that they could reverse-engineer what went wrong with my initial unit and hopefully prevent such problems for other customers in the future. They went even further in seeking to gain both my satisfaction and loyalty to their brand but the number of characters on this site limits me from going into further detail. Suffice to say, they won me as a customer for life so much so, that several months later, we made the purchase into our first Feeder Robot. That is how much confidence we have in both their products AND their customer service. There are virtually NO companies in the arena of retail sales that truly go beyond the concerns of profit the way Whisker does in meeting both the expectations and ultimate satisfaction of their customers, especially when it comes to products conceived, designed, engineered, and ACTUALLY built in the USA. Whisker does so on all counts and why as a customer, you should never give up on their desire to win your business forever.
I received my LR3 connect in December
I received my LR3 connect in December . I did a lot of reading reviews, websites, etc to find out if a Litter Robot was for me. I also had two six month old ragdoll kittens that I wanted to train in a Litter Robot when large enough. Honestly, I waited for a bundle deal that included an extra bag for the drawer, filters for the drawer, stairs, and extended warranty. It takes a bit of patience to get your cats comfortable with their new Litter Robot and training to have them wait until the clean cycle is over before the next cat goes in. (they wait to hear the ding sound on my phone) I have a routine to clean out the drawer about every 4 days (it is full). I also wipe out the inside and stairs at that time. I think it is important to vacuum litter out of those little areas that litter collects as it cycles, drawer, and drawer cabinet. There have been glitches. I have called twice to service when I first got my Litter Robot and got quick responses. I also belong to a Litter Robot Group on *** that will give you help or honest answers of what to try to solve a problem or question. The real reason I purchased my Litter Robot was...to keep cats healthy (no more paws in poop or urine), no more scooping out the litter box EVERYDAY, less litter tracked, and freedom. Freedom to go for a long weekend and know the litter box is clean and cats are happy. Freedom to go on a vacation and have a cat sitter come to the house half as much. Freedom using 1/2 as much litter. It was a big purchase, I got it as a birthday/Christmas present to myself. After reading reviews, I would be a bit angry if my unit wasn't working. I do wish I had the LR4 as I feel the new design makes sense on where the waste drops into the drawer. Each new design, I see improvements. So by the time I need a new Litter Robot...it will be perfection.
I'm very disappointed, I was trying to order your new 4 litter robot and I purchase quite a few by the way
I'm very disappointed, I was trying to order your new 4 litter robot and I purchase quite a few by the way. this time, I believe at least 5 in the past. I was going to order 4 of them and the last lady I spoke with said since I buy so many I could probably get 20 % off in the future if I buy more than 1. the man I spoke with said he would talk to someone and I would receive a coupon in an e-mail. so far I received a discount off if I refer someone they would get rewarded. I have referred many people in the past 10 years which have purchased and I never even received anything which I did not expect to. I just liked Litter Robot so much that I told everyone that had cats or adopted a cat from me about your product. I also received an e-mail saying you don't discount Litter Robots but would give a discount off if I did a bundle. what a slap in the face that I have received. Now I'm so irritated because I have been so anxious to order some more and waiting for a simple reasonable discount that it takes the fun put of purchasing. I loved your customer service and had always told everyone that it was a 150% positive not like any other company. What a disappointment it has been in the wait for this coupon this man said I would receive. I have taken in over 120 cats a 10 dogs in the past 10 years and my Vetinarians consider me a rescue and they even give me 10% off. Im not a 501 C yet but very seriously considering it. I even work with PetSmart. If anyone in your company reads this and would like to call me or send me a discount or coupon I would be grateful. Thank You sincerely, [Name]. I'm giving you a 1 star because of how this was handled otherwise I would have given a 5 in customer service and a 4 in product. only because the last model had such a small litter area.
I have had our litter robots for over 4 years now
I have had our litter robots for over 4 years now. It takes a good couple months to learn how these work and how to maintain them. I had a few issues at first, but they were actually more user error. The customer service is better than most companies. They actually sent out replacement parts for one of our LRs even after it was out of warranty. Their CS reps are patient and helpful. There was one part that required replacing and it was nice they contacted me after running diagnostics; the motherboard had gone bad. They sent out a replacement part even before they got the bad one back, something many companies do not do. Many comments online complain about the LRs not working after a couple of months. Many of the issues others have are due to lack of maintenance on them. They are not a set it and forget it unit. Litter is dusty and causes buildup in areas of the unit that needs a clean contact, like the pinch detector. If you aren't cleaning it to maintain it, they give false readings and seem to be malfunctioning, but they really just need to be cleaned. I compare these best to a cell phone. First of all, once you have one, you never want to be without it. Second, if you never update your phone or power it off, it will act up. Same with the LRs, if you dont maintain it, they will not work to the best of their ability. For a reference, we have 6 cats and 2 LRs. I wipe them down each morning just to keep them clean and the bags are switched out nightly. Litter is topped off in the AM and PM and I do a deep clean just about monthly. We currently use Tidy Cats Glade clumping cat litter, as we found this works best for our household. While I do not know the actual dollar cost, we absolutely use less litter with the LRssignificantly less. I have also convinced 2 friends to purchase a LR and they also love theirs. I will never go back to a traditional box. My only regret is not ordering them sooner.
We have three elderly indoor cats and 4 Litter-Robots; We cared for a few more elderly indoor cats until they passed
We have three elderly indoor cats and 4 Litter-Robots; We cared for a few more elderly indoor cats until they passed. All Litter-Robots are battery operated (worked well when power went off due to tropical storms here in FL. One Litter-Robot is from a Beta test of the first Connect- Litter robot. Although we made things work with an I-Pad, we are really an Android household so were waiting for Android compatible model. That Connect model is now just a normal Litter-Robot 3 We have had exceptional customer service when any of the Robots needed help or adjustments. The trouble shooting was helpful in solving immediate issues and we learned what we needed to know to prevent or correct the minor problems we experienced. when trouble shooting did not work All of our cats used the Litter-Robots until one had too many joint problems to climb the steps or jump in. We keep a low stainless pan for him. With elderly cats who have very large urine clumps the disposal can be a problem sometimes when our litter clumps just too hard to break up to go into the disposal. With consultations from Litter-Robot and our vet, we think we have arrived at an appropriate litter mix which clumps, but not too hard.I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Litter-Robot 3s for many years. I wish we could afford the Litter-Robot 4; its larger opening and disposal method looks as if this new model would help us manage the aging issues with cats. We are saving for it. We look forward to the Connect methods for android. We would need the steps available.I was delighted to see that Litter-Robot has partnered with *** for furniture. I wish the Litter-Robot 4 would also have some furniture from European designers to complement its new "look".Litter-Robot has changed our aging lives as well as the lives of our cats. Scooping is very hard for us at our age. Many, many thanks to the fine people who design and make and service with kindness the Litter-Robots.

I ordered and paid in full for a Litter Robot ($516 with tax and fees) on November 30 from www.Litter-Robot.com. I was sent a tracking number with the order confirmation and on Friday, December 4 at 11am, FedEx indicated that the package was delivered and left at my door. My building has a door person during the day to receive packages so FedEx would never and has never left packages at the door. I have asked the door person several times and there was never a package arriving that was addressed to me on Friday, December 4 from Litter Robot but there were other packages that were delivered. After waiting a few days, I wrote Automated Pet Care Products to inquire about the shipment and they notified me that they would investigate. After 2 more days with no response, I wrote them again to ask for the status of my order. They notified me that because FedEx marked it as delivered they can assume it was stolen. This is without any real investigation into where the package was actually delivered to. They informed me that I would need to file a police report in order for any action to be taken. I filed a police report on December 7 at Brooklyn Precinct 88 and obtained an Incident Information Slip from a police officer and was informed that a report number would be available in 2-3 days but obtaining a full police report would be a much longer process involving physically writing to the central precinct with a request. I informed Litter Robot of the status of the police report and offered to provide the number for their records so that they could move forward with either issuing a refund to me or sending me another package. They have informed me that I must complete the process and submit a full police report to them before they are willing to take any additional action. This process will take at least a few weeks. I feel that this has put an unfair burden upon me as a consumer. In good faith, I ordered a $516 product from their website and entrusted them to deliver it to me within 7-10 days. It was never delivered to me or my address and now they are unwilling to accept a police report number as sufficient material to issue a refund or send the product that I paid for.

I am beyond frustrated with this company
I am beyond frustrated with this company. I placed my order on 6/19, with a 5-week shipping time. I updated my address a week after ordering because I noticed the apartment building number was wrong (we just moved). I got a notification earlier this week that my unit had finally shipped, but to the old address (so apparently editing your shipping address under your order does nothing?!). I emailed customer service and THEY CANCELLED MY ORDER AND TOLD ME TO PURCHASE IT AGAIN. I'm not waiting ten weeks for this! I have emailed and called them with no email or call back. I am furious. This is no way to treat your customers. I will be filing a report with the ComplaintsBoard.com.
I ordered the litter robot in May and my cats do not use it
I ordered the litter robot in May and my cats do not use it. I have never been able to get someone on the line to talk to about returning this product. I have left my number and wAited on hold for hours and no one will reply. I have sent numerous emails stating my order and what I'd like to return and no one will send me an email back. Also, they signed my up without my permission or knowledge and I am receiving bags of litter on a subscription that I cannot cancel on my end. I have followed their instructions provided in the email to cancel My subscription to this Product, but when I sign in it says that I have no current subscriptions though I get charged every 3 weeks for this bag of cat litter. Very shady company! Will not continue to do business with them.
Ever since purchasing the $500.00 litter pan, it has been defective and not worked properly
Ever since purchasing the $500.00 litter pan, it has been defective and not worked properly. I have called repeatedly and gone through hours of trouble shooting. I have done everything correctly and have one 18 year old cat that uses this pan. It's kept sparkling clean inside my home. I have replaced the bonnet twice, the globe once and the base. It still constantly gets stuck! I gives flashing lights and the globe is upside down. I take it apart and clean it monthly. I use the litter that this company has recommended. They refuse to help me or replace this product! I am in a wheelchair and they have put me through hell troubleshooting. Ive sent them the pictures they have requested and even videos. Recently, I have used the customer service via their facebook page. It's been two days of hell and no help whatsoever. I want either a new litter robot or a refund or else I'm going to file a complaint with the state attorney general's office.

Good thing my robot is still under warranty when the *** went bad. They've given me options and I opted to install the new part myself. I'm glad there's a video of step by step process. It's working normally now and cats are happy.
I love mine, 7months in, it still works great. its truly invaluable. I only wish they would ship to PO Boxes, only complaint...otherwise I LOVE IT! ?
Best investment ever, I'm not worried about scoop & cleaning a litter box anymore. I just replenish litter and empty bag once a week and it gives me more time to enjoy time with my cat. I take comfort knowing that when she jumps on my bed, she wasn't just walking around in her own waste. After she completes her tour and uses her robot the next time she has to go, her previous endeavors are no longer there, so cross-contamination throughout my house is no longer a concern. The litter robot is awesome at limiting odors, so much so that my friends and family, when they come to visit, don't even remember I have a cat until they see her because they can no longer detect any unpleasant smells. I have nothing but positive experiences when it comes to Whiskers and their products, including the litter robot and feeder robot. They are just like any other appliance. This is one of those items that you will buy and never feel like you wasted money, and for that, I am truly grateful and appreciate all that they do at Whisker.
I love my Litter-Robots. I have two LR3s, one LR4 and am waiting for delivery of another LR4. The customer service I have received has been outstanding. Everyone is very nice and will work with you to trouble shoot your equipment and if it cant be resolved, will replace it without issue. I havent had my LR4 long enough to give a detailed review, but I can say so far I am very pleased with it as well. My only issue is there is currently no ramp available, but Im hoping there will be very soon. I have several special needs kitties that need that ramp to access the unit. Other than that I have no complaints. I feel this company really cares about the cats and their people and work to satisfy any issues that effect both. Everyone I have dealt with has been very friendly and have worked with me to fix whatever problem or answer any question I may have. I highly recommend their products.
