refrigerator
I got the lease in 6/24/2014 for a refrigerator, they took out so much money and than sued me after paying them tons of money. Rip off rip off so far I have paid close to $4, 000 for a $900.00 refrigerator. This company should be locked up. Whynotleaseit was from a Sears store, stay away from that they will take so much money from you.Just when you think your done paying for it your not, that is where the not comes from in Whynotleaseit. This company should be investigated for the things they do.It is a shame for what this company has done to good people. If you are planning on leasing from them, you will regret it tremendously.
kenmore air conditioner
We went to Sears Hometown to buy a Kenmore air conditioner for $299.99, we have been paying $50/month since June so our last payment should have been in November to pay it off in full. It is now January and they are still pulling money from our bank account. We called customer service and they said we had the option to buy it out for $160 more than we have already paid (a total of $560 so far) or we could continue to pay $50/month to lease it indefinitely. Our only other option is to return the product. They said it would take 7-30 days for their recovery department to get in touch with us and they would continue to pull money from our bank account until the product was returned.

can whynotleaseit even be legal?
I have NEVER felt like I have been so ripped off in my life! This $349.00 TV after all the payments will cost me over $1, 100.00. The Kmart employee didn't mention any of this, AND try to deal with Why Not Lease customer service.. Unless you want to get seriously rectally screwed I would stay away from this company. We quit shopping at Kmart because of this.

frigidaire freezer
I purchased a deep freezer from Sears outlet store and I was trying to build up some credit so the cashier told me about wnli and stated it would be my credit it was an outside company and that I would make payments directly to this company and after making four consecutive payments it would be paid off which was not true. It is a leasing option but not a lease to own option when I called wnli they explained that I now have the option to buy it or return it the freezer was priced at 159.00 I have paid a total of 299.05 and to buy it out is 197.36 which goes over and beyond the 159.00. I am totally perturb at this point that I am now being charged 3 times for this little freezer yea yea I should have read the small print, but the cashier sales associate should not be promoting the thievery it is unacceptable and totally wrong it should be against the law to overcharge this way. People are trying to make it and thieves like this make it difficult on honest hard working people. I can't for the life of me understand how this is continuing please run from why not lease it or Tempo LLC whatever they are called in your city they will rip you off and then continuously charge your account well draft your account so always check your bank statement because they will not refund a thing so dont wait on that one either. They need to be placed under arrest and throw the keys away. Really
I agree, my issue is the retail associate promotes this program under fraudulent motives. It maybe they are not fully informed or educated on informing consumers whatever the case. When I made the purchase, . she told me I could use their credit source why not lease it to gain credit and it is interest free for 90 days and then she stated pay it off by 5th payment. I assumed the payments were toward my purchase which was not the case. Yes the name speaks for it self, but when you are shopping for whatever you want to make a purchase at sears you are not expecting to lease a product. I read the many complaints and it is apparent I am not alone in my feelings. So thank you for your useless comment, if it has not affected you other than you benefiting from others uninformed misrepresented and totally oblivious to the fact that we were suckered in. Then please don't reply or respond. Why not lease it needs to make it known this is not a rent to own it is simply a lease program that is not being explained. So with all this being stated we the consumer would appreciate any retail/sales associate offering this program would state this is not a lease to own program it is simply a lease and if you choose to buy it the total cost plus surcharges apply. Now would not this be more in the line of stellar customer service. Yes? Maybe you should take up some of my classes I am a Professor at a 4 year college that is well know and I teach ethics, stellar customer service and identifying fraud...I believe this is something you would benefit from.

Hi Ms. Bridges.
I appreciated reading your concerns, but the name 'Why Not Lease It' doesn't seem like they're advocating anything but the option to lease. Yes? I agree it's a much more expensive way to purchase, but is generally there for someone who does not otherwise have good credit. The alternative is to simply save up the funds until you can purchase outright. No?
I had my truck broke down at the mall while doing christmas shopping for my kids. I do really need help on fixing my truck.
This is a family truck that does everything. My family can't live without him.Work, hospital appointment, groceries, and off course broke down on a Christmas shopping day.Two days away from Christmas. The drive shaft was down on the ground, and it needs $1, 000.00 and up to repair it.I need to finish my family Christmas before I get back to fixing it.Thank you so much for your great help!
took my children's christmas and birthday money after I paid my balance in full
I'm a single working mom of two and in May of 2017 I signed my life away leasing 4 appliances for my home. That I could not afford to buy out right.in sept I was told to call why not lease it when my last payment came out in October. I called and made an agreement to make three payments of 548.71 to pay off the balance of my lease because making the minimum payment would only be going towards the lease and not the pay off. I agreed even though it would leave me with no money to live off of. The three payments were 11/10/17 11/24/17 and 12/08/17. I struggled got two different disconnection notices because the agreement didn't allow me to pay any of my bills or start christmas shopping but I was so happy it was finally over. I got an email saying my payment was due which I thought was weird. I checked my bank acct the morning I got paid 12/22/17 and my money was gone the took another payment. I called twice and faxed bank statements they said I never made the 11/10/17 payment. One man I spoke to wouldn't let me speak to his boss and was even laughing at me. Now I have to fight to get my money back from them. Today is my sons birthday and I have nothing to give him I also have not done any Christmas shopping. I will never do buisness with this company again. They ruined our christmas and my sons birthday.
leased a tv
We leased a $500.00 tv from kmart through these clowns, put down $100.00, and it's been over a year we pay 100.00 each month and this "$500.00" tv should have been paid off. So we finally called them and they told us we had to pay over $400.00 to buy it out right when the damn thing isn't even worth that much not including the $1500.00 we have paid towards it so far! Their crooks and now their taking out double payments each month it's a joke nobody get anything from these theives they'll take all your money! I'm calling the better business bureau and channel 10s investigation crew, they've taken the last of our money! I'm done!

So are you returning the TV to them or paying it off?
nordictrack treadmill
Back in July I was offer to lease this treadmill. My balances was 650.00. I was told 6 payments would come from my account. So I received an email about my next payment coming out in December and I thought that's not right. So when I called the csr explained that if I wanted to keep the item I would need to pay another 450.00. The guy at Sears did not tell me this and 2nd I remember he was fairly new. I can't believe that I got into this program and ended up paying more than I expected. I do not think that it's fair that no one is responsible for not informing us of this issue. All their posters and advertisements do not include the payout option at the end of 5 months. We were under the impression made by the employee that after 6 payments that we would be done. I will never use this option again nor buy anything big from Sears again.

leasing program scam
The associate at Sears flat out lied to me! I made all my payments on time and thought I was finished ... they continue to charge me the bi-weekly rate and are saying that my payments (now that it's past 90 days) are NO LONGER going towards my balance... and that I have pay the buy out all at once or continue with my ‘lease' payments until I can afford the buy out or 18 months. I have already way over paid by $930.00 and will have to use my tax return to come up with the buy out price. By that time I'll be close to over paying by twice that! BUYER BEWARE!
This is a series of payments...
AND THEN A BUY OUT!

lawn furniture
On sale at Kmart, I was under the impression to put it on there credit card at Kmart and buy it. What they didn't tell me was, After I finished paying for it. that why not lease it (the credit card) would charge me another $200. This means I paid for the item double. I paid $347.74 for the merchandise and was charged additional $191.26 additional, fees from why not lease it. A table and 4 chairs from Kmart. What a waste of money. They disclosed nothing during the transaction, other than pay the 5 installments. Why not lease it is a rip off. I plan to sue for non disclosure!
No i didn't! And thats what they count on. It is a rip off. Im waiting on a class action Law suit to be filed so I can join in.

This this is exactly what happened to me, it's a rip-off did you ended up suing them.
pay off balance
I had leased a washer through them and was unclear how it worked. I was stupid and overpaid greatly. Next time I paid off within 90 days. Don't use them if can't pay off. Last purchase was refrigerator. Paid half down and only few hundred left on balance. Final payment was $135 and I asked for one week extension. They denied me and tried to extend me five months which would have been another $500 or more. I will NEVER use them again unless I can pay off in 90 days.

washer
I had worked with this company a couple years back when I got a bed from sears. I loved it yes you pay a little over the price but it wasn't by a lot. When the lease agreement was at the last payment they contacted me out and advise on my two options either to stay leasing or buy out. Of course I chose to buy out. So when my mother needed a wash we went to sears and I remembered this load program and signed up for it, after having a good experience the first time. Now this time my experience has unfortunately been terrible. I did not receive a call from them then continued pulling from me. The first time I received a call from them was when my card was compromised and they could not take out the funds. At that point I had thought the product had been paid off. Nope the representative advised I never called and so they assume you want to continue leasing over the price amount for the product. Of course I didn't want to do that no one in their right mind wants to pay over the amount the product is worth. So recently when my new card was issued out I see a transaction from Why not lease it mind you I had recently received a new card from my bank. But apparently certain merchants have a agreement with mastercard to advise them when customers receive a new card. They call it curtsey, so be careful because these people work together to pull the rug under their consumers. I will never use them again and I'm honestly deeply disappointed sears still advocates for this company.

we leased a refrigerator and microwave
We went to the sears outlet to buy a microwave. It was marked down because it was a scratch and dent model. We told the guy we were looking to buy new appliances. He got us approved for the lease and explained that it was "6 months same as cash". They had a great deal or so we thought on a scratch and dent fridge. Originally 2200, marked down to 700. We offered to pay for the microwave and he recommended to just add it to the lease so we did. After making the 6 payments I thought the merchandise was paid off until I got a phone call from the company stating we owed them 3 months in back lease payments. I was so confused because this was not how it was explained to us. Granted we didn't read the entire lease agreement on the credit card reader but we asked a lot of questions. Why would I lease a microwave that was 80 dollars and now I am Expected to pay triple that to own it. I called the company and they said the best they could do would be a buy out for 500 due in 30 days. I explained with Christmas coming I just didn't have that money right now. She told me she would have sears contact us and they could possibly help us out. Well that never happened so I'm not sure where to go from here. I emailed the company today to see if they could extend the time allowed to pay the extra money. It's just very frustrating to pay so much for a scratch and dent model that's not worth that amount. I would not recommend this company to anyone!

unfair
Don't believe them if they say they take no fees and you can easily use them without paying anything at first.
It's just a trap. Don't fall for their fake words and promises.
When I decided to stop using their service they demanded me to pay the fee which was extremely high. You know, guys, I can't afford to pay so much money for nothing and I opened a dispute to fight for every buck I have. Your treatment is unfair.

what a rip off/ buyers beware and read fine print
Purchased a used refrigerator from sears recently and was led to believe that if i made 6 payments of 248 the refrigerator would be paid off. Around the 5th month i get a email stating to either pay a buyout amount or continue leasing at the current amount ? Than it hit me i just been had. The total price of the refrigerator with warranty came up to 1493. When i called the company why not lease it they said i had a buy out amount of $821 . At this point i am steaming . Where the hell did my $1240 go ? And why in the world would a company be allowed to get away with such crooked service particularly on products that are used and as is. So in the end i will wind up paying double for a refrigerator that was as is and could have been purchased brand new for a much cheaper price elsewhere smh. I will never purchase another product from this crooked business
A very unfair cost at that. First off i dont have less than reliable credit. The mishap occurred when the salesperson did nit explain the purchase this way. It was basically explained to me that 6 payments in the amount of $248 and the refrigerator would be paid off. My 2 huge mistakes was not paying attention to the word Lease and not reading the small print on my receipt which like many others tend to disregard. This company is clearly a rip off and should be reported to the Better Business Bureau.
Well that should be explained at the time of purchase. Ideally no one should be charged close to double what the product is worth especially when the product is "As is". There is no one in the right state of mind who would be willing to rent a As is refrigerator for 248 a month . That by all means is a rip off. I made a huge mistake dealing with this company and now have to suffer the consequences. The key word is Lease in which i completely overlooked none the less the terms of the contract was not explained this way during the time of purchase because i would never had agreed to such foolishness. The same refrigerator i brought brand new is now on sale for $1199 at other competitive retailers when im done paying for my As is refrigerator i will have paid double that. Why not lease is are basically crooks with contracts to cover their [censor]. By the way my credit isn't bad at all just didn't have all the $$$ at the time to pay out of pocket smh
Buy It Now is a purchase option for people with less reliable credit. That higher risk comes at a cost.
unauthorized credit card charges and unethical behaviour
Omg! I am so glad I googled this company to support my claim. I leased a couple of items, paid them as agreed upon per my lease agreement got my owner's certificates on both of those leases with no problems or incidents at all. I started my third lease on a flat screen tv, paid per the lease agreement. I realized that I should have been done with this lease, checked my banking account statement & realized why not lease it had withdrawn additional payments beyond what the total lease amount should have been. When I called to advise them of the mistake so they could reimburse me & so they could send me a owners certificate... Customer service did a terrible job of explaining why they were continuing to withdraw out of my account & why they would continue to withdraw out of my account. For the life of me they could not make me understand why I would continue to pay them money after I had already paid off the tv just as I had with the two previous leases. I contacted my bank to cancel any other attempts from them automatically withdraw, contacted them with my dispute, they refused to get rid of the debt even though I sent in copies of all my receipts which I still have. I was told this was a lease to own program & that is how it worked with the first two smaller purchases. This debt is now on my credit, I have disputed it over and over, & they have put a remark on my report stating "dispute resolved; reported by grantor". This dispute is far from resolved with a $1500.00 collection/charge off amount listing on my credit (This is the additional money they are saying I owe after paying the entire amount owed for the tv I leased). As I rebuild my credit, the next step with them is to my local television station wral 5 on your side is going to blast them on public tv along with k-mart & their affiliates. This is unfair & is adversely affecting my credit. I want this debt removed from my credit; I want them to ensure it is explained thoroughly in stores prior to customers leasing with them what this really is & is not.

washer/dryer
I didn't have good credit did the why not lease it through sears told I would own the product by sept the total was 1008.00 I have paid 1533.00 they took it out of my account after September which paper said was last payment, I just filed a dispute with my bank to get October and November back, this is false advertising and robbery very rude and horrible customer service when you contact them as well, would not recommend anyone use this option through Sears,

air conditioner
My mother leased an air conditioner from Kmart, back in June. The lease agreement says that the five months was up AFTER October's payment. Her bank statements from July through September never had any of these monthly payments, which were supposed to be taken out automatically, on them! She checked with the bank yesterday and found out that FOUR payments were taken out this past month. Plus, she was charged for being overdrawn! This company had better make it right, and pick up the damn thing! Also, refund the money that was removed from her account all at once! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

completely unethical company
I went to Sears & bought a dryer for $471 & Sears recommended this company to me as a leasing option. Sears described the company as being a lease to own program & said if we paid it off in 5 months we would save some money. Unfortunately, we didn’t find out about Why Not Lease It’s actually “no payments are applied to the purchase” policy until after we signed the paperwork. Apparently, their whole scam works by charging people monthly just for the pleasure of having the merchandise in your home, not one cent goes to purchasing the property. I will NEVER get scammed by this company again! They are complete criminals & I sincerely hope that some government agency puts them out of business before they steal more money from innocent people. Please everyone, do yourselves a favor, just go to a legitimate company like Aaron’s where at least they’re honest about how much it will cost to actually OWN the merchandise.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
I told the salesman I was buying the washer. In the fine print it says you have to tell them your buying it 4 months after your first payment. They want another $400 dollars. It was only a $400. sales price. I guess the fine print is different from what the sales person led me to believe .
riding lawn mower
I have been trying to return this lawnmower since 9/12/2017 at that time they said I owed $40.
I call back to pay the $40 and they say I owe $162
now I owe $285 and I still have the lawnmower
I was told my credit card was deleted from the system but was billed another $122 and I still have the lawnmower
at this point I am changing my bank information and not worry if they get it or not... BECAUSE I AM TIRED OF CALLING AND DEALING WITH THEM. they claim there are no notes to support what I tell them and when they call me they never leave a message
DO NOT LEASE ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE
