I've been living at *** properties for 5 years now, in the same apartment
I've been living at *** properties for 5 years now, in the same apartment. Recently, I've had issues with low water pressure in my toilet. The maintenance guy has come to fix it three times already, but it still won't work properly. It's not clogged and there's nothing blocking the line. He did his job and said it's out of his control. I'm not mad at him, but I'm paying rent and I can't use my own toilet because of the low water pressure. The maintenance man has been really helpful, but we really need someone to replace the toilet. We can't do it ourselves, as we're paying our rent. Can someone please help us out?
For over 2 weeks I've been asking the management to address water damage in my unit
For over 2 weeks I've been asking the management to address water damage in my unit. Water seeps through the baseboard, drenching my bedroom carpet during rain. I've pointed out the issue, and their response was to remove the carpet and padding, leaving the problem unresolved. The room now reeks, possibly of black mold, due to their inaction. I'm ceasing my efforts with them and withholding rent until the issue is properly resolved.
My name is John Doe, and I have a signed lease dated 11/29
My name is John Doe, and I have a signed lease dated 11/29. My move-in date of 1/12/22 was confirmed, but I was advised yesterday that the obligations outlined in the lease could not be met due to a 'holdover' tenant not vacating the premises. I was told to wait until Monday, 1/10/22, to contact the new property management team. There has been no clear resolution or offer for reasonable accommodation from the property management. My belongings are in storage, and I am staying in a hotel, expecting to move into my new place on 1/12/22. I've secured renters insurance and internet service. I've paid my first month's prorated rent ($585.16) and security deposit ($500), totaling $1,085.16 since 12/20. I have records of bi-weekly calls expressing my concerns for an earlier move-in date, but was not informed of any issues until a week prior (1/5/22) that my move-in could not be accommodated. The lack of communication is unacceptable, and I need a clear resolution as this affects my livelihood.

I moved on Oct 15th, 2021, and on the day of the move, I called maintenance urgently because my water wasn't getting hot
I moved on Oct 15th, 2021, and on the day of the move, I called maintenance urgently because my water wasn't getting hot. They called me back and said it takes a while for the water to heat up, like 5-10 mins. I wasn't happy about it, but I went along with it because I'm in a lease now. Fast forward to Friday, April 22nd, and the water was still not even lukewarm. So, since before, I was told to let it run for a minute to get hot, but it never did. I had to take a lukewarm cold shower. The next day, there was no hot water at all. I called the office and spoke with ***. She told me they're working on it or trying to get it resolved because a lot of people were calling about it. I told her that this was happening yesterday because my shower was cold. *** said I should have called yesterday if that was happening, and it could have been fixed that day. I told her that's not true because the water takes forever to get hot anyway, so I thought it was normal. I also mentioned that since our water bill is split between myself and the other units, our bill could be lower if we didn't have to run the water for 5-10 mins because they won't fix the boiler system. I told her it sounds like a scam because the office knows the water doesn't get hot. She also said the water doesn't get as hot in the office. I told her I don't care about the water in the office. I live in a unit and pay rent to a company that doesn't seem to care if we have hot water or not. It's really frustrating dealing with the management here because it seems like they can't do anything to fix this situation. As I'm writing this, I've been running my water for 10 mins and it's still not hot. The fact that this started on Saturday and it's now Monday without hot water. I told *** that this company is scamming tenants on the water bill by making us waste water because they won't fix the boiler, so everyone could have hot water.
I live at a WRH Realty property in ***
I live at a WRH Realty property in ***. Our elevator went out of service early December cuz someone got stuck in, panicked and destroyed it tryna get out. As of April 6, 2022 - it still ain't been fixed. We gotta climb up 7-10 flights of stairs daily, multiple times. WRH says the parts ain't available but they shoulda looked into other options by now. Right now, if you disabled or can't climb several flights of stairs for any reason - you can't get to your unit or visit. We had medical emergencies that coulda been worse cuz of the stairs. A woman in our building was 26 weeks pregnant and went into early labor cuz of goin' up and down the stairs and they refused to help her get a hotel after she went into labor. We got ankle, back and knee injuries gettin' worse every day cuz of the stairs. Also, security is a big problem. Our bike got stolen and our car window smashed. This happened at least 6 times since we moved here. Today - 36 cars got broken into. But nothin' is actually stolen from the cars. Clearly someone either targetin' the residents or tryna make some money from window shoppin'. Organized crime is happenin' at our building and they won't provide security or make improvements to the overall security. They always leave the gates open. Homes are also gettin' broken into. There was a fire in the first floor garage and the fire alarms didn't go off. They took weeks to clean up the ashes and flooding in the stairs - the same stairs we gotta use cuz the elevator don't work. When you try to talk to management 'bout the issues, they don't respond and are rude. They never sent emails 'bout the fire or the break-ins. We askin' for our rent to be waived until the elevator is fixed and the security issues are dealt with.
Lease ended unexpectedly
My lease ended abruptly. I moved out of my apartment on a certain date and turned in my keys on 06/13. I received a check for $199.79 on a later date as a partial refund of my deposit, and they printed my new address on the check. According to the lease agreement, if the landlord doesn't give the required notice within 30 days, they lose the right to make a claim on the deposit and can't seek compensation against the tenant, but they can file for damages after returning the deposit. However, I didn't receive any notice within the 30-day period explaining why they were withholding the remaining deposit. So, I emailed the landlord on a specific date to ask why I hadn't received a final move-out inspection or an explanation for withholding the remaining deposit. In their email response, they said that since my lease ended on a Sunday, they had until the following day to send the notice, which they interpreted as having 31 days. But the lease agreement clearly states that the notice must be received within 30 days, not postmarked within 31 days. They also claimed that the final bill was for my last utility bill because the apartment was left in perfect condition. However, it's highly unlikely that I used that much utility service in the apartment for just two weeks. I couldn't reach a resolution with the landlord, so I contacted the company that manages the properties, named here as the company. I called them on a specific date at 9:00 am and left a message with the receptionist, who said she would forward the message to the landlord for a return call to discuss the illegal withholding of my deposit. I waited 24 hours, but there was no response from the company. So, I called again on another date at 10:00 am, but still no response. Then, on a different date, I received an email from the landlord at 10:16 am. It's important to note that when I called on the previous date, I specifically requested a phone call to discuss the matter. The fact that she sent an email instead clearly shows that she doesn't want to have a discussion. In the email, she mentioned that my final statement was mailed (without stating when) to my last known address, but it was returned, so they are resending it. However, I changed my address with the company before my lease ended, and the partial refund check I received on a certain date had my new address printed on it. I even have an email from the company confirming that they received my new forwarding address. This is a prime example of a company lacking integrity and failing to do the right thing. The lease agreement clearly states that if they don't provide written notice within 30 days, they can't withhold any of the deposit for any reason. Today is day 33, and I still haven't received a move-out inspection or a notice regarding the withheld deposit. I am requesting the return of the remaining deposit in the specified amount.
