Wyndham Vacations review: Timeshare

On September 11, 2020 in Daytona Beach, the sales rep assigned to us expanded on the details in the presentation and in answer to our questions told us they would be able to check with Hilton as to the points we had there and what that would help to qualify us for the benefits described in the presentation and if we joined today would receive bonus points based on our Hilton points of over one extra year of Wyndham points. They explained this would allow me to have preferential booking at Margaritaville resort in St Thomas where I had indicated I wanted to visit. They also told us that we would save money if we joined Wyndham Club because the RCI dues we were paying to Hilton would no longer be due. We were also told that we could also use cash to book the vacation instead of our points and be able to join in this unique system.. We returned home and after a week or so a representative called Ana to explain the website setup and how she could login etc. I then decided to call the phone number of the individual who had walked us through the process but got a generic Wyndham number. I found out how to login and asked the individual for details of the program. This is when I was told that I must have misunderstood the details of mymembership with Wyndham Club since I was not at the level of membership to take advantage of the cash vacation program or the preferential booking system of the Margaretteaville resorts and as far as St Thomas was concerned there was at least a 2-3 year wait. I was upset and told the individual (now our representative that I thought this was a scam and that I should report them to the FTC for false advertising. The representative hung up on me. I then called Hilton Grand Vacations to try and reduce my payments since I was now also a member of Wyndham Club so did not have to pay my RCI dues to HGI anymore. Hilton said this was not true.
