Xbox Why though?

In my opinion. The app did its job. It didn’t do its job well, but it did it’s job. Now, ever since the update, it feels like the update just made you have to relearn where everything is and everything else just got worst. Saying it did it’s job now would be an overstatement. First off, I used this app mainly because the wires in my mics disintegrated on me, and I needed to be able to talk to my friends. It wasn’t that bad before, but now, sometimes I have to leave and rejoin the party just to be able to speak and hear other party members and still I sometimes don’t hear what they say because of the app. Secondly, I used to screen record my captures, and I guess they made it easier to put your videos into your photo roll, but they made it impossible to know which video you are saving. Basically, if you played, let’s say Titanfall 2 for a while, and you wanted to save a specific memory from back when you played Titanfall 2, you would have to save every. single. video. The preview of the video takes way to long and from my experience, has never shown a preview. My photo roll has never been this full before. Finally, when messaging, it is so laggy that you will instinctively hit enter multiple times. Well prepare for your friends to get upset, because when you hit enter multiple times, it sends the message, MULTIPLE TIMES! The worst part, sometimes it won’t send anyways, so you will wait there 5 minutes to see if it sent when you hit enter, you will hit enter again, and then it just spams your friend’s chat. It is so annoying. It has become a running joke with my friends about how bad the Xbox app is. I only keep it because it is the only way to talk to my friends without a mic.

TLDR- This app is bad at the Xbox Party talk, the messaging is crap, and adding videos to your photos is a chore. Microsoft bad. Me no like. Me angy. Please fix.

Xbox Love the new update but there are bugs

So first of all, the new app looks fantastic. Everything is a lot smoother and things finally look like they’ve left behind the old windows 8 influence. It would be awesome if microsoft could bring this refinement to their windows 10 pcs which I hope they do within the next year. Now onto the bugs:

I can view my captures, but usually there’s no audio and when changing orientation it is EXTREMELY buggy and lags a lot. Please fix this ASAP as viewing/sharing your captures is something you advertised. It is also buggy on startup for me as well. I am running an iPhone 7 plus btw.

Next, some suggestions. Allow us to rename parties to anything we want. Make it like discord, except allow us to have permanent party members and temporary members that are in the voice party by invite or by joining. Also, if those temporary party members want to be a permanent member of the group, one of the permanent members can add them to idk lets say the group chat and thats what will make them a permanent member that can start/join the party at any time. Doing this can put xbox up to par with discord and ps5, but if you are late to the game well you might just lose some of your existing customer base. There’s definitely other things you can do to improve the software, but I am not going to list everything.

However, although unrelated to the review I hope xbox has plans to have proper edge chromium support on the new Xbox Series S|X. I think this will allow the xbox to natively run PWAs which will make the xbox hardware a very nice, but restrictive windows 10 PC. And it would be even MORE AWESOME if you can add edge chromium support to old xboxs like the xbox one x (this is what I currently own).

Cleaning up your software and adding new features to your hardware like this will set xbox up for massive success, especially if they later add support for steam/discord/etc.

Xbox Very Slow and unresponsive!

I’ve had the app installed for years, before the more recent graphical UI update that changed everything. I like the newer layout and feel of the app, but connecting to my Xbox One X (XB1X) at home, is useless.

The app doesn’t show my full game library when all filters are removed, so I can’t delete certain games to create space. Also, it takes minutes to load and populate and show me either games the installed or owned. Loading my friends list takes almost as long. I have an iPhone 7. I don’t know if it’s my phone or Microsoft’s (Azure?!) servers or the app. I alternate and use WiFi and my 4G LTE connection and restart the app in frustration just to get sections of it to load, and I’m not sure if that’s really helping with responsiveness.

Also, buying games and installing new games via the app is a nightmare. Sometimes new games won’t show up when searching the store, and nothing happens when I hit the button to install it to my console.

At home, I have a Verizon FiOS gigabit connection, the fastest you can buy, and my XB1X is connected via Ethernet, less than 10 feet away from my router (I have the new white WiFi 6, mesh G3100), yet I get no confirmation that my XB1X is turned on after I “manage my Xbox”. Yes, my Xbox is set to “instant-on” and configured to install games and turn on remotely. My Xbox is set on a DMZ via my router, so all network traffic/ports/connections are free to connect to it.

The app is just slow and clunky and cumbersome. I want to be able to see my clips uploaded to Xbox live and watch them without the black screen, (audio plays but I don’t see any video), freezing and slow/cumbersome experience. I have even used the app at home, on the same network, on my WiFi connection and struggle to use the Xbox remote and control functions (managing my game library, and installing and deleting games) with the same problems away from home.

Xbox The app is.decent?

I’m just going to be honest here, i absolutely hate the new update. There isn’t a SINGLE thing that is better for me personally. 1. The fact that you can’t send pictures anymore. I used this feature so much previously and was devastated when i found out it was gone. me friends and i make digital art and this is where we share it, which we can not do anymore. 2. message safety. i hate message safety because i can not turn it off. my account isn’t linked to a parent account or a family account and the help portion of the app isn’t helping. i have no idea where to change these settings and it doesn’t let me see the messages that I WROTE, which i think is stupid. 3. message notifications. i’m in a group chat with 7+ people so obviously there are a lot of messages accumulated on a daily basis. the app will send them to me as they come but an hour to four or five later it will spam me with the notifications i’ve already gotten and the messages already in the chat. this gets really annoying when there are sixty notifications coming onto your phone at once. 4. this isn’t as big of a problem but i don’t like the fact you that if messaging a person and want to join their party/see if they’re in one you have click the three dots to get to their profile then another three dots to see if they’re in a party and then click view party and then click join party. it just seems like a lot in my opinion 5. whenever you click a message notification it pulls up another chat log and you have to continually click the back button before you get back to the main chat page. and the fact once you click on the notification it doesn’t load in on the log unless you reload it multiple times. these are only five of many of my concerns with this new update and i feel along with many others that i’ve heard from that the original app before this update was better. thank you for reading / taking my concerns into consideration

Xbox App Bugs

This app has so many bugs to the point it becomes unusable. Let’s start out with the crashing. Sometimes you join a party and it will say error then the crashes if it does this once just know it will keep doing it. You can just be in a party and it will randomly crash. Another thing is where basically the app just fails to work. You open it up and your friends don’t show and you try starting a party and your either connecting or it immediately crashes - again if you try again it still won’t work. Then there’s the party and voice chat bugs. A new one has came where you can’t hear people in the party. Their voice will be cut out and then it will all of the sudden cut back in so if there talking to you, you won’t know it’s as if that one person is muted for a temporary amount of time then they will cut back in. Also when a new person joins the party a lot of the times it will say that they are “Disconnected” rather they aren’t. If you want to hear that person you will have to rejoin the party. Another new bug is your voice seems low and further away than it should be from the “mic”. People can barely hear you and it’s very annoying as you can expect. On with the next bug that’s been around for too long - you can’t join parties that aren’t your friends. If a person not on your friends list invites you, you can’t join it will say “Update your app to the latest version” something around that. This destroys the chance to participate in looking for group posts. It’s a big disadvantage to get rid of boredom. Let me rant about one more bug then I’m done sometimes when you join your friends party it will crash the whole party. I feel bad so many times and sometimes when you join your friends party it will say “Error”. What error? Your app is an error...(These bugs may not happen to everyone but these are the ones I’ve experienced myself and everyday I use it I come across ALL of these bugs)
And yes I’ve reinstalled the app around 50x. Good day!

Xbox If it ain't Broke - Don't try to Fix it

Bruh this new revamped interface is cool and all - but this app lacks the basically ability to function properly. I'll start with what i like, given it's a pretty short list - Captures being all in one section & the remote play is cool WHEN IT ACTUALLY WORKS. And i like being able to turn my console On & Off from my phone, pretty cool feature but that has been a feature since the Xbox app was created.

The cons - The app has hella bugs. One being with chats and the app saying players are offline when in fact they are online playing a game. The pull down to refresh feature will sometimes work & sometimes it'll never refresh causing you to close out the app and trying again. There is no longer a "Club" tab so when you wanna join a club gaming session or just joining/leaving a club at all - it has to be done from your console. That feature i miss the most given i'm in a few clubs and it's a hassle to try and play the game and find club sessions - when i use to play the game and find club sessions from the app. Another problem with the app is, it has its time where it won't allow you to click on anything. Even if you force close the app & reopen it - it still won't allow you to click on your friends profile & things of that nature. Sometimes your messages will take forever to send & you may end up sending the same message multiple times causing you to look a little strange to the player on the other end.

There was nothing wrong with the previous version of this app & given the X & S series have been released - I understand why microsoft would want to give one of their most used apps a refresh. But - MICROSOFT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE PREVIOUS VERSION. BRING IT BACK ! BRING BACK THE ' CLUBS TAB '. Bring back a smooth functioning and easy to maneuver app. This is of course - and opinionated review but i've read other reviews & the things i stated above seem to be common issues across the board. Microsoft , I love ya but please fix this app lol.

Xbox This app is absolute garbage

Pretty much the only things anyone would actually consistently use this app for would be to check who is online when they aren’t by their console or to have a chat with people when they either don’t have a mic or a semi broken one or they aren’t by their console and yet these core things are screwed up beyond belief when it comes to checking if people are online 50% of the time it just says everyone is offline if you reload it or try and go directly to someone’s profile to see if it will change it doesn’t besides that now let me get to the communication aspect of it which is the biggest joke of all. If you try to have a conversation with someone in party they can hear you all day long but you only hear about 30% of what they say I have tested this with my internet connection and made sure my speeds were on point so that wasn’t the issue I’ve reloaded countless times and I’ve even tried making sure the phone never goes in sleep mode and of course I’ve tried all the above at the same time and it’s still beyond awful good luck having a conversation with anyone when you have to say I can see that your talking but I can’t hear you and then be like still can’t and still can’t and still can’t and finally anywhere from 5-20 seconds later you get to hear them for about 5-20 seconds and then it’s right back to screwing up and of course no one is going to put up with this so they just give up on trying to have a conversation and I’m not even the only person I know to have this problem multiple of my friends have agreed that this same stuff happens to them as well. Now for the second lovely thing about communication for some reason and I’m not sure who to blame about this one whether it be the people who make these phones or the app developers or both but just so you know if you want to have a conversation without wearing some kind of headset like device and your just on speaker be prepared for everyone else in your party to get insane reverb aka where they can hear themselves

Xbox Need help and can’t get it

Xbox is so stupid. It’s faster than Play Station, but otherwise screw this.
Any time I want to play online: HeRe iS aN uPdAtE tO dOwNlOaD. I have no other choice but to do it otherwise I can’t play online. I don’t have unlimited internet, so I have to take it to my grandmas to update, which is possible.
YOU FAILED TO CONNECT TO THE XBOX LIVE NETWORK. Every time I press a button on that stupid Xbox. YOU FAILED TO CONNECT TO THE XBOX LIVE NETWORK.
I’ve tried to contact Microsoft for support, but I need to login. Ok, log in then. I CANT! Password is wrong! I reset it, and when I create a new password, I’M USING THE SAME FRICKING PASSWORD IT JUST TOLD ME WAS WRONG 20+ TIMES IN A ROW! So I can’t contact support, they can’t remove the issue
YOU FAILED TO CONNECT TO THE XBOX LIVE NETWORK. Any time I go to the home screen.
Xbox 360 was better at everything but reliability. It would always kick you out playing an old fallout game, and a year was the max life span, but I never was told
YOU FAILED TO CONNECT TO THE XBOX LIVE NETWORK.
I could watch movie discs offline, not on Xbox one. I can play any Xbox 360 game, not just a few, AND ALL OF THE DLCs WORK, NAMELY FALLOUT NEW VEGAS, DONT HALF A THE BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY.
YOU FAILED TO CONNECT TO THE XBOX LIVE NETWORK
Multiple games take forever to start, storage is low, a measly 500 gigabytes. I could play infinite games on Xbox 360. After like 17 years my original Xbox still works too. Xbox live scams you for money they definitely don’t need. Want to pay 60$ at GameStop for Battlefield 1, when all you get is the campaign? Go right ahead, it’s my only option.
The only things I can use it for is fallout 4, far cry 5, Forza horizon 4, and Forza Motorsport. That’s the only things it knows how to do, and fallout time is capped at 25 minutes on average before I get kicked out. Work with Bethesda! MORE MODS!
YOU FAILED TO CONNECT TO THE XBOX LIVE NETWORK.
Oh, review on this app? Can’t log in. Why? Because my password IS CORRECT.

Xbox Needs Major Refinement

Things that need added:

- Games I own

- Full access to the store and games on it, its barebones right now and makes you have to go to your console or the website to view a full list

- Quick access to account features

- Console and game streaming(like PS4), so I can play my games and access and control my consoles dash on any device(Phone, Tablet, etc...)

- Both horizontal or vertical viewing of app

- Sizing options

- Complete Xbox system control from app

The app is good, but these things are holding it back from being great. You can stream videos of your games in 4K/60 from the X, how about allowing gamers to play their games and control their system, doing the same... Allow downloading and editing of recorded videos on the consoles, from your iPad/ Android/ PC or Mac. As is, if you want to upload to YouTube(especially in 4K), you have to physically move your external drive to your PC or Mac and do it that way. It would be nice to be able to access that external drive over the network, without having to physically move it.

I think the App could use an overhaul. A new look for the new year. Something that mimics the look and feel of the Xboxs dashboard. Giving continuity across all platforms. On top of that, the store needs to be easier to access and navigate. It is a mess to find what you are looking for, on any device... menu click after menu click, just to get to the store. It shouldnt be a chore in order to buy a game. But the way it is currently set up..
It is.

Xbox gamers have a great future ahead of them. Microsoft just needs to refine what is there, to make every experience on any device... a pleasant one to look at and navigate. Let gamers truly play their games anywhere, on any device, via streaming from their consoles(like the PS4 setup)... allowing them to connect their Xbox One controllers to those devices, so the experience remains the same as it is at home. It would build a bridge in between the Xbox and something like the Switch, except with Xbox One and X quality.

Xbox Issues that need some addressing

Alright, so it’s been a while since this new update has come out and I’ve gotten the hang of how it works. I can say its nice how it is now but there are some issues. I have noticed a number of bugs or issues that should be given a look over, one I will point out has been a problem on virtually all Xbox app platforms. First of all, the Xbox party audio on the new app cuts out sometimes to a lot of times and you can’t hear your friend and they can’t hear you, this is something that becomes an annoying problem when one of us is in the midst of a sentence or conversation, especially when it’s nearly constant. The second is games that you own not showing up and games you don’t own showing up, for an example I own Doom 2016 on my account but when I look in the library tab and go to the game library section there is no game under Doom than Doom 64. It also says I own candy crush which I never purchased or looked at with the account I use. The third and final is a hum dinger to me because it’s been a problem since the previous version of the app. It is that not all of your captures will show up. This is rather a pain cause there’s just that one time you know you made a capture of something you want to share it look at but you can’t find it because it won’t show in the app no matter how many refreshes are made and how many times you go onto Xbox.com, especially now you can’t go there because you have to use the app to view anything related to most customisations to your Xbox profile. A new problem that’s come with the capture issue is that you go back a certain ways in your capture history you’ll have missing captured as well as captures that can’t load because they got corrupt or just straight encountered an error. If that happens, often that capture is bust and needs to be deleted. Now, the first two things I’ve listed are a problem, but this last one is a bigger one in my book because it’d be awesome to be able to see what I still have from way back when. If you’ve actually taken the curtesy to read this, thank you and please try and make these fixes.

Xbox All functionality has been removed

This app has basically been stripped to the bare minimum of functionality with recent updates. Remote Play was added, but only after every other feature was removed from the app.

Looking for games on the store is a headache now; you need to take a week off work to send one single message to a friend because it’s so excruciatingly buggy and difficult now; you can’t look over your achievements or the ones for specific games anymore; you can no longer change your profile picture or edit your profile from the app, which is ridiculous; they’ve taken features out to make separate apps around, causing you to need three or more on apps where you used to need one; they have essentially killed TV features like the cable/tv remote; and much more is missing compared to the older versions.

The cable/tv remote is my biggest complaint. I used to be able to open the app and pull up a remote identical to the one that came with my cable box. It had all the number buttons, volume, channel, forward/rewind/pause/etc., even the red, green, blue and yellow custom programmable buttons that my physical remote had. Now... it’s gone. Using a controller to navigate channels in OneGuide is a miserable experience, so I relied on the remote in the Xbox app when I was lying down watching television or otherwise unable to find my physical remote (so, quite often). Seriously, losing that functionality is a punch in the gut and reduces my need to even use the iOS Xbox app to maybe once a month, at most. It’s almost worthless to me now.

Remote Play works fine if your connection can handle it. If your Xbox is connected via WiFi then you’re probably going to have issues, so anyone planning on using Remote Play should have their Xbox using a wired connection. And even with a perfect connection on your console, if you plan on using 4G/LTE or public WiFi on your phone you’re not going to have the best of times.

So, basically, in making the “new” version of the iOS Xbox app, they stripped the old (good) version of every single feature it had, removing any function that was even vaguely useful, then added Remote Play and called it done. If you want to play Xbox on a phone screen with tons of lag and absolutely nothing else, then you’ll probably like the app. If you want to do anything else, you’ll probably hate the app.

Xbox Even more Awkward, Falls Short

Dropped from 2 stars to 1. Connectivity is even worse than before. Takes forever to get a connection. Pretends to be a social app in order to promote Xbox products.

Gamers I know have told me that this app isn't a practical gaming controller. I use the Xbox One for Netflix, YouTube, and Pandora so I thought I would give it a try as an alternative to the standard controller. There was an initial "cool" factor that evaporated quickly. I found this app to be awkward and impractical mainly because of its strangely limited support for Xbox logins. There also seem to be bugs on the Xbox itself that cause the remote to appear to stop working.

After logging in to my Xbox Live account, the main screen appeared looking similar to but not at all like any actual Xbox main screen. It does not change even when connected to an Xbox. The reason for this is far from obvious.

My expectation was that I would be able use the app alone to control the Xbox. Indeed, I was able to select the Xbox and turn it on. The mismatched main screen offered no obvious way to sign in. So I had to pick up an actual controller, power it on, and sign in. Later I realized there is a hack to get the remote: select an app, then "Play on Xbox", then "B". The remote screen stays, at which point I can use it to navigate to the sign in icon and select my Avatar. After using the app about a dozen times, I noticed that a remote icon stealthily appears at the bottom of the screen once you are connected. Ohhhh. Sneaky isn't clever. It was passé in the 90's.

Not unreasonably, my account has a passcode. I am unable to enter my passcode using this app because not all of the buttons are available on the remote. If some sneaky, magically appearing buttons exist, they are well hidden. Yes, I *couldchange my passcode, but this limitation is perplexing. The app's lack of support for this most basic Xbox function is truly awkward and weird. The poor reviews I've heard first hand for this app as a gaming controller probably stem from the lack of trigger buttons.

Attempting to launch an Xbox app without signing in first causes some Xbox apps to lose their ability to be controlled by this app. Restarting the iPhone doesn't fix it; restarting the Xbox does. While it isn't this app's fault, it doesn't earn it any stars.

All in all, it's not a terrible app. But the unnecessary learning/adaptation curve makes it hard to love it.

I'm giving this app four out of five stars leaving one star open for improvements and hopefully the developers read these reviews from actual users who use the app to make tiny improvements to make this app the best it could be. A few suggestions from me would be: One of my biggest complaints is that The volume control should not be in its own separate screen it should be on the same screen as the remote controls. also the main reason I personally use this app is for the remote controls so there should be a personal setting that I could choose the remote to be my home screen I know not everybody uses this app for the same reasons I do so they might not like the remote as their home screen that's why I suggest a setting to be able to personalize this app for whoever is using it and I personally would like to be able to make my home screen the remote. The other main reason that I use this app is for the keyboard and anyone who uses an iPhone knows when you turn the phone sideways on the keyboard the keys get larger and more spread apart making it easier to hold and to type with two thumbs instead of one when the phone is straight up and down so I would like to be able to turn my iPhone sideways while using the keyboard in the SmartGlass app. also it is very annoying to have to reconnect every time you leave the app and come back even though it's running in the background it does do it quickly however it would be better if it stayed connected while the app is still running in the background overall the app is an amazing idea and a great extension to the Xbox one and the remote idea is awesome it just needs a little tweaking mainly the volume on the same page and the ability to make it my home screen and ability to turn keyboard sideways i'm sure the more I use it the more opinions I will have to make it better and hopefully we can get more users who actually use this app make suggestions to make this product better and hopefully the developers read these reviews and can make these tiny little tweaks which shouldn't be hard and would make this app the best that it could be and would be a great extension to the Xbox one. personally I'm not a big buyer of apps but if they could make these small little tweaks and give it the settings and ability to customize the app to personalize it to better suit each user. I would definitely pay for this app if it had those tiny tweaks because I believe it's a brilliant idea because before when I was laying in bed watching tv or Netflix I always had to have the TV remote the Xbox controller and of course my phone always right next to me, now this solves all that and all I have to have is one device, my phone, to control the volume to be able to pick what I want to watch or change channels or even browse the web. The app is worth it just for the keyboard option alone everyone who uses Xbox one knows how big of a pain it is to pick and type with just the controller it makes you not even want to type but with the SmartGlass app it's finally easy to type and navigate around

Xbox Messaging with Friends

One, I am a little frustrated how when my friend had to make a group chat for some friends of mine to talk, it didn’t want to work. The group chat didn’t show up until a few hours later it automatically appeared and it spammed the group chat three or four times as different chats. Two, when I am talking to someone in the app, in the background of the texts I see a faint keyboard. I know it’s not much but can you please fix that. I thought my phone was glitching or doing something weird.
Also, there are some other little bugs that I am frustrated about. Sometimes when I check my group of friends to see who is on, the list doesn’t always appear and it just tells me to add friends. Another thing is when I am texting my friends a lot and then I forget something I said long ago in the chat, I can’t scroll all the way through the texts because there is a limit. Please change this so I can see my FULL chat history. Other than all these little bugs and issues, I think this app is very useful to connect friends together.

UPDATE***
Now, there are even more bugs that keep messing up my Xbox app. The messages I send to a friend will send but then they will disappear in chat like I never sent them. Then later on they will get a whole spam of the texts that I sent. And now the app is just crashing every time I try and text a friend. Please, FIX this right NOW. I’m about done with this app. If you guys don’t fix this soon, I will look for a different app to communicate and connect with friends.

***UPDATE 5/1 ***
I’m going to start putting the date down for when I update my review on you guys to show how the developers of the Xbox app don’t give a f***. PLEASE. I have seen and read many reviews about how there are so many bugs and issues that need to be fixed. In order to be a successful app, you, developers, need to know the kind of feedback you are getting from the people who are using your app so you can improve the quality and function of your app. But, NOO. Please, developers do something about these issues. I can’t remember the last time I updated but I can tell you no developers have commented on it saying they will try and work out the problems. This is the trashiest app I have ever downloaded and I’m irritated how all of these one star reviews are most likely being looked over all the other 3+ star reviews.

*** UPDATE 5/30 ***
Please. Fix the bug with the profile picture. Every time I try to change the picture, I can’t. It tells me to try later and then when I try to change it later, it still won’t work. PLEASE, fix this ASAP. I know a lot of other people are having the exact same problem.

*** UPDATE 6/7 ***
When I want to check my messages between a friend on Xbox, I can only go so far back in the chat history and then I can’t swipe down to look farther into the chat history. There are some things I wanted to recall but now I cannot with this. PLEASE, fix it. This is very frustrating how the developers of this app doesn’t care about the negative reviews on this app. It is trash but you could fix it by responding to the people with feedback and fix their own personal issues. ALSO, there is still the profile picture that doesn’t want to change. FIX THAT, TOO, PLEASE.

LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE WRITING REVIEWS!

Xbox My first app review, this app needs to be fixed

This is my first time doing an app review but it feels necessary. The way the app was set up before the major update was great, probably a 4 or 5. It still had some bugs and could have been improved in some areas overall but wasn’t bad. It was my most used app and I mostly used it for social functions (managing friends, checking activity feed, posting or chatting in clubs, tracking achievements, sending messages, etc.) i never used party chat with my phone because I felt like the sound wasn’t as good as when I used a mic and my controller (as it should be for a $50 controller and mic).

Like many others I’m really unhappy with the recent big update. On top of the fact that the app takes longer to load and often freezes or is buggy, a lot of the features I constantly used have been removed. This means I’ve used the app maybe a few times since the major update months ago whereas I used to check and use it routinely throughout the day everyday whether or not I was actually on Xbox. When I was In the middle of a game I used to be able to go to recent players and send a message to player in my game via phone app . Now I’d have to do that through my Xbox which takes way too much time and effort. Sadly this new app promotes kicking players as its far easier to abandon or kick players than it is to communicate with them via direct message. I also used to use the app to add people and see which friends added or deleted me. I can’t do that anymore and it takes way too much time and effort to manage on Xbox so I’ve just accepted that I’ll probably be following a bunch of people who have already deleted me.

I also don’t understand Xbox’s fixation with turning the phone app into a controller. When they just had party chat it wasn’t a big deal and I could just ignore it. But now their whole selling point is that the phone functions as a controller. I don’t want my phone to function as a controller. That’s why I bought a console and a $50 controller to go with it rather than just playing a mobile game. I don’t need my phone to turn on my console and start a game. That takes literally like 5 seconds with my Xbox controller. I do need my phone to send direct messages on Xbox. Sending messages through Xbox is way more difficult and time consuming. In order to send messages through the Xbox app you have to have an active conversation, and even then it is slow to load and send and very buggy (2 days after I sent. A “ggs” a friend told me they received the message 12 times in a row at once).

Also i don’t like that Xbox keeps changing the dashboard every few months. If it made it a lot better I’d understand but often it feels harder to use and by the time I start to adjust they’ve changed it again. I was coping with this by using the phone app to manage social aspects and just using my controller for games but now they’ve gotten rid of a lot of the features that helped me do that. My social interactions on Xbox have drastically reduced unfortunately. I hardly send messages anymore unless I absolutely need to. Xbox claims to be interested in feedback so I hope they take this very seriously. They shouldn’t be forcing updates and changes on us unless the changes actually improve the dashboard/app. I can deal with the dashboard mess but please, please fix the Xbox app. If Xbox is actually dead set on making this app just a remote control for Xbox please at least create a new app for managing the social aspects of Xbox.

5 stars for the way the app used to be, 1 Star for the way it is now.

Xbox I’m surprised by the ratings are still high AFTER the update

Here’s the thing, there’s a lot of things you could do before the update! Like go to clubs, use all features of messaging that we had before, be able to change names in groups chats, being able to track achievements, see full Xbox profiles and more info about games we’ve recently played! Or being able to communicate WITHOUT having to worry about having to friend them first, being able to have my account set to Offline and go on the app and it BE offline, or being able to tell me when friends are online instead of all of them saying that they’re offline. I’m not sure if it’s ability to track how much time you played on a game came back or not, but by how it sounds, it didn’t. Now for the bugs which MOST OF THEM are STILL not fixed! The app takes a whole minute just to load the frickin thing. With no promises that it will even successfully load, which means you will probably have it end up crashing, and then having to close it and re-launch the app again. You see where things gets annoying yet? The messages glitch, whether they would be notifications, or sending a message. You can send just ONE Message, and it will glitch out and send multiple messages, basically meaning it can count as spamming, and is also very annoying to users you were trying to send messages to. The remote functions are still there thank God, can be a little better. I mean after all it worked much better before the update. Not only that, but another good thing is they added remote play, despite the fact you will need to have a Bluetooth controller connected in order to play in that mode. I’ll give them credit there because they improved those two a little bit, but that still doesn’t change the fact that things used to work so much better. And they removed a lot of things on top of that process. A lot of things were removed, and whatever remained either got worse and works horribly now, or just simply doesn’t work anymore at all. The performance of it is slower, it has a lot of bugs, and the performance of it has a lot of problems now after the update. I’m surprise nobody is even talking about this through the ratings, how is it still as high as it is? If you go on Google play right now, the ratings are just dying. People are definitely not happy about this lol. But I’m still surprised on the ratings on the Apple App store? Even after months of this being a problem? I’d get it if it recently happened, and everyone would believe this was just temporary, but this has been a problem for months! Ratings are going to be one of the biggest ways the developers are going to see this. (Don’t get me wrong, they should already know by now), but somebody’s gotta say something, because this has to be said. The only positive things I can say about it, is the app is finally compatible for devices on Google play like Chromebook, which I wasn’t able to install the older version on Chromebook before the update, just on my android devices, and maybe the same goes for those who own MacBooks? What I also like is the fact that you can stream between your console and your device, that’s a huge plus! But things like using your device as an Xbox remote, used to be better, and can be better. If they just keep everything they have now, and the new user interface update, and just add everything back that they removed, Plus fixing all the bugs, this app could be so much better, and would earn an immediate five stars! I hope all this time, months after the update, they’re working on its next update. Because I have to be honest, if it’s been months, no way of them not knowing that all these issues have been a problem, and nothing is planned to be done anytime soon, I have to say it, that’s just very sad. Because there’s not much you can do with the app right now and it’s unfortunate.

Xbox I am in love with remote play

I know its apple’s terrible monopolistic AppStore policies keeping game streaming off (gamepass cloud streaming/xCloud namely). That’s actually finely convinced me to upgrade to android and cancel my Apple Arcade subscription (thanks Apple!). Anyway, Remote Play is the very happy alternative if you were looking for cloud gaming and unfortunately have an terrible iPhone (or bigger iPhone). I remember it being clunky, constant lagging, and needing to be on the same network with Playstation (idk if they improved; just stopped caring), but here it feels consistent and pretty good. I haven’t experienced lag and even when my connection goes out it gives me some time beforehand and treats it as the controller being lost (so it pauses). I have experienced drops in quality, but I much prefer that to insane lag (and I wasn’t really expecting 4k gaming).

Best of all this works over different networks and even cellular (so its as on the go as cloud streaming). This is also great because it means you can connect to your Xbox for general use ON A DIFFERENT WIFI connection. Meaning you can uninstall and download games, turn it on and off, set up, or do any of the things on the Xbox App. You see my university has separate wifi networks for our devices like tablets, phones, and laptors; and other devices like Printers and consoles. That is to say previously I was in the same room as my Xbox, but couldn’t do anything with the Xbox app because of the different networks. That made me furious because I could download and uninstall (any game) through the xbox Gamepass app (like talk about priorities).

I will warn that LTE doesn’t work nearly as good as a good wifi connection. If someone wants to an Ethernet connection I imagine that’d be the most consistent and best experience (and you can still connect to an Ethernet port in another state and use remote play). 5G is probably what it’s designed for over cellular (and you are both streaming and playing (sending inputs to) on your console). The entire process is still mind blowing. The initial setup took me about maybe a minute. It was follow the prompts on your phone and xbox and that was it. Now I have heard some people had a difficult time so I obviously cannot speak on anyone’s but my own experience. After that you can use it whenever and When you start remote play the console “quietly” turns on (the light doesn’t come on and there’s no sound, but if you have your tv on and put it on the right input you can see the screen on). It’ll then connect and you can play any xbox one (or I guess later series X/S; no 360 or OG Xbox games... I assume yet; hopefully they’re working on that) game you own. In some ways this is better than streaming a library from the cloud. Its certainly much more free and available. Opfiminally though if you have gamepass ultimate you’d still want both, but this is still pretty insane. I often feel like commercial technology is stagnating, so seeing stuff like this take off excites me. On a quality of life note, you can also access the Microsoft rewards app while remote playing (so I can leave my Xbox for more than a week without fear of losing my streak finally).

There are (of course) a number of issues, but as they get reported they’ll be stomped out and new updates rolled out. Namely there’s some lag not on the xbox controller entirely, but strangely only on the view/task button (or whatever the two squares next to the menu (three lines) button is called). As of now you can’t access the Microsoft store in app (unrelated but Microsoft still needs a Microsoft Rewards app for mobile; I don’t need to redeem on mobile, but more ways to earn on my phone would be nice). That said you can currently download ANY GAME you want to your xbox that’s on the store (whether you own it or its out yet or not). This is a game changer if you buy day one, but don’t preorder or still buy/preorder physical games.

Overall I’m very happy with the update and would tell everyone to give it a shot. Report frustrations and bugs and feedback in the app (Microsoft still has one of the best ways to give feedback I’ve seen of any developer/company for their software); even if they don’t read it, they’re still more likely to read that then a 1 star review on apple. Still not enough to make my not hate apple anymore (imagine making your appstore a monopoly and then saying “our customers have certain expectations that won’t allow it” as if blaming your customers solve it; at least that woke me up from being a complacent sheep handing over all my money to apple so they can restrict and control every aspect of my life) and I’m upgrading to android, but again this is a REALLY nice alternative. Just don’t forget your clip or a good phone controller.

Edit: I’m dropping my review from 5 to 4 stars because through further tests of remote play I found that I could not use it over distances no matter what I did. I was on LTE, 5G (using an android), and wifi 5GHz (all recommended) on different devices (ipad, iphone, android), but could not get remote play to work. Interestingly enough I did find that the remote control function did in fact work in real time and I could still control my xbox over the same distance (through the help of a roommate and face time). I had complete control and was able to move through menus, launch games (the usual way on the app), restart the xbox, and turn it off again. But that’s what makes it worse. I went through the settings and tested remote play (got all green checks) and restarted the Xbox (and my own devices) and it still wouldn’t connect. And I really just don’t understand how I could do all that but can’t remote play. I mean if I got my roommate to set up the phone and leave it facing the tv I could literally use the xbox remote control controls to play on it (I mean poorly but still). Overall the Xbox app is still better for me (again went for unusable to usable), but remote play is a lot less exciting than I initially thought it was

Xbox IN APP ISSUES

This app used to work smoothly, but now, as of late, the app itself, as well as every page within it takes an unreasonably long time to load. I’m so frustrated that I’ve even recorded the load duration, and it’s average comes out around 2 minutes. That may not seem like much, but when you sit there and watch that little circle go round and round for 160 seconds when it should only take a few, it starts to wear on your patience.

On top of all that waiting, any time a page actually manages to load up, it’s no good. When I look for clubs through certain games the app kicks me out. If I search for a profile or attempt to glance at my activity, it kicks me out. I have the iPhone 7 with 50GB of storage, of which I’m only using 29 gigs. Whenever I go into the Xbox app I make sure to clear any cache I have on my device, and clear any other cookies and or tabs I might have open, so this app should NOT be timing out, nor should it take a century and a half to load.

I chose to rate this Xbox app one star in the hopes of gaining the developers attention. I grew up on PlayStation, but turned to Xbox in my teens and have been a loyal customer ever since, but too often are Xbox consumers’ questions, comments, and concerns ignored by the company.

Please, take some time to look into the app. Investigate and do your best to resolve these issues.
Thank you for reading my review, I genuinely appreciate your consideration.

Xbox Never write reviews but

I never write reviews on apps, it seems like a waste of time more often than not. But regardless I just had to write this down and share my thoughts.

The Xbox app USED to be quite good, before this latest update completely and totally gutted all the awesome features the Xbox app was loved for.

First: the layout. The previous layout was straightforward and streamlined, this latest update has given “streamlined” a brand new definition. There is almost little to no reason to even have the app downloaded as it only serves as a glorified remote control, that sometimes doesn’t even respond to my inputs. The complete and total lack of features leaves the layout practically empty.

Last: the features. I used to be able to stalk my friends’ captures, achievements, etc. and that was fun because it added a whole new dynamic of competition between friends, because the system also gave Time Played for each game and each gamer tag. All of those features are gone. You go to a friends profile and now you are greeted with highlights and your basic friend-moderation tools such as “report, remove friend, block” etc.
why remove all the friend features? Why remove all the darling features that have done well so far?

Overall, the app used to be a solid 4.5/5 however due to Microsoft’s obsession with fixing things that ARE NOT broken, the update has brought this app down to a 2/5. Shame, I used to love this app.

Xbox New Update

This app USED to be good. Key words being "used to." Before the latest update, the xbox app was really good and I had very few issues with it. Ever since the new update, I have absolutely HATED using this app. Obviously this is my opinion right now, but I hate almost every single thing that has changed (and a bunch of my friends agree.) First off, the app takes longer to load in than it used to. Second off, the whole messaging / chatting with others is awful. Sending messages can be delayed a lot and sometimes not even send. You can't send pictures anymore. And also, if you have notifications on, it'll glitch over and over and over again whenever someone messages you (meaning even if you are on a chat with someone currently texting each other, whenever they text you, a notification will buzz at the top of ur screen.) This glitch is only fixed if u reload the app, and even then, after a few minutes of texting, the notification buzzing will still show up again. Another thing I hate is the online / offline thing. I don't like how when you are on a chat with someone, it says they are offline, even if they are actually online. It only says they are online on the home screen, which is very annoying. Honestly, the only thing I do like about this update is our captures all in one area.

Obviously this probably won't happen, but I feel like this app would be way better if the update was just taken off, and the app was reverted back to its old state.

Xbox Buggy app

As a developer I only review apps when they are really good or really bad.

This one has been ok, but I expect more from Microsoft. I mean, this is MICROSOFT we’re talking about. Over a trillion dollar market cap company and this app has many bugs. It’s dumbfounding.

It’s not an awful app, but key features are broken. Whenever I try to view the videos I recorded on my Xbox on the app, I can never get the videos to play correctly. How can this be so complicated? The most basic website has mastered video playback, but somehow, Microsoft struggles with it in the app. Some videos load. Others load then lag. Others present a sad face icon because they can’t load. And then other times I get a message from the app saying I’m stranded, basically admitting that there was an error. Ridiculous.

Also there are issues with the remote play. Like the fact that you can’t. Oh sure you can connect to your Xbox. But even after following the on screen prompt to connect you controller to your phone, and confirming my controller was connected to my phone the app still asked for me to connect a controller and only gave me the options of “Bluetooth settings” and “skip”. The app will not recognize the controller connected to the phone via Bluetooth.

These are the main bugs I’ve found, but I’m sure others are there. These are the most annoying for sure.

Developers: Please fix this app. These problems are ridiculous to find in an app developed by Microsoft.

Xbox Not Bad, but Not Good.and Now Worse

Update
After the most recent update, it is impossible to use the controller/remote feature on the app. Every time I open that portion, after a couple seconds it returns right back to the home screen. The main and most used feature for me is now totally unusable. Congratulations Microsoft, you took an already dumpster bound app and made it even worse.

Original
This app used to be great, but now every time I open it, instead of my activity feed, I have to go through a list of "recommended for you" people who I don't know, not care to know. I can understand the social aspect of it all, but at least let us turn this off, or give us a clear all option.

Aside from the that, everything feels more cluttered than before. It still functions the way it did before, albeit slower and with a few more steps to get there in some cases.

What happened to the recent games/apps section of this app? I used to turn my Xbox on to power up while I was in the middle of something, then open the app and see my last 4 or so used items on the Xbox. This was very handy when I wanted to load up a game or OneGuide to be ready while I was heading to my console. Now it's a complete chore to find anything.

Please expand the settings for this to allow us to customize the experience to the way we use it, and not the way you think we should use it.

The app used to be really good, and since my cable box runs through the console, I used the app quite frequently. Now I tend to stick more to my controller.

Xbox Notifications and Xbox LFG

I’ve probably used this app for a couple years now I’m just gonna say I don’t think the app is really being utilized to its full potential at this particular stage. Simply put you’ve made a lot of mistakes with the app which I get is inevitable as far as trial and error but getting more to the point the notifications for the app when Xbox LFG was still accessible on the app was a minor issue. Instead of actually fixing the notification issue you simply removed LFG which was a big mistake since LFG was and will always be the best feature on the app because it gave easier access to Xbox LFG in the sense that we wouldn’t get kicked from game for being “AFK”. I mean the point of the app is make things easier on the player not harder I barely even use the app anymore mainly because the main reason for using it would be to use LFG but since that no longer is possible you essentially removed the reason for using the app at all. Notifications as far as that is concerned I don’t know what the issue is on that but I know it was somehow a big issue when LFG was still around even though it was a pretty simple straight forward issue that could easily be resolved I don’t think focusing the app on messaging is a very smart use of the app and I’d advise more efforts on pretty much anything else other than that for app usage. I know a lot of us no longer use it because of the updates to the app have restricted access to the things I mentioned and simply put the app is not of any use without LFG anymore.

Xbox Buggy unusable crashing trash

Get used to seeing something went wrong constantly popping up on your screen, trying to join a party chat is the worst experience I have ever had with any social app. Half the time the party your trying to join doesn’t even show up when your lucky enough for it to show up it’s even more of a mess. You join the party screwing over everyone already there by making them have to reconnect they will either all disconnect or it will actually work. When it actually works the experience is awful everybody that tries to talk to you are constantly getting cut off the app showing that they are talking but no audio coming out. Then the nightmare of actually trying to start a party most of the time people can’t even connect to your party if you don’t get the “something went wrong” error message as soon as you press start party. Then there is the constant app crashes try to do too many actions to quick like a normal app Xbox app crashes. Try to stay in a party chat the app crashes in the background. On top of the fact that watching clips barely works with long load times for a 30 second clip and when it loads it’s very framey. What else the install button does nothing when trying to install something on your Xbox, sometimes your friends list doesn’t show up, with every update the becomes more unusable. The only good throng the app does is the remote (which no one uses) and looking at the community tab. If your mic is broken and you want a free alternative just buy a new mic because this app is useless.

Xbox Horrible Update + App

For some reason, Microsoft decided to take out the features of sending pictures and changing your pfp.

This is absolutely devastating since let’s be honest, the custom PFP change was the only reason anyone downloaded this bugged app in the first place. It’s a personal preference that they took out pictures because I use the chat feature to talk to people I know on here since they’re too lazy to move the convo somewhere else. Now I have to screenshot, email my picture to the email linked to my computer, save it, and then send the picture there, since not only are they bad at choosing how to update the app but also unfair. For some strange reason, the computer app still allows you to send pictures. But it’s ridiculous how I have to sit in a chair instead of doing things as I move around, just in order to talk on there.

While we’re on the experience of me using the chat feature on there, I would like to call attention back to how bugged this app is. When I’m talking, Xbox takes so long to send my message or when I do send it, it doesn’t go through until I try to send it again. Then I end up looking stupid by sending the message two times as Xbox decides it wants to send the missing message the same time as the new one. The app crashes at least once each time I use it and generally very slow.

Save your time, effort and anger for another app that flawlessly allows you to change your pfp and send pictures. As any social media app should. This looks so bad compared to the PS app, all 3-4 of them.

Xbox It’s ok sometimes. Long running issues

Things don’t change. Anticipate it to be Unreliable. Must keep Xbox controller around, defeats purpose of app.

Works 60-70% of the time that I open it. Rough estimate. It can sometimes be 1-2 weeks where the app is unresponsive, it won’t connect to Xbox, or will turn on Xbox/ and then tell me it can’t find Xbox to operate any apps on the Xbox. It’s been this way for years. I’m assuming this is largely an Apple update issue. I would prefer to blame them and not windows. Every time apple puts out an iOS, or Mac update every app gets buggy. Or they stop working entirely and developers give up. Does windows have this problem? XP didn’t use to. I think I’m gonna switch back.

I use the XBOX app mainly for Netflix and Prime. Prime has worked just fine, Netflix on the other hand has no scroll buttons. Well as of 4/13, the version prior to 2003.0326.0129, there WERE scrolling (reverse, play,FF) buttons. First time seeing them. As in, they existed for a 2-3 days. But the app hasn’t been working for at least 1 week, so I stopped using it. Now they are gone again. Baffled. It’s the first time I have ever seen them. I’ve had the app for some 4-5 years? Since it was smartglass. Same iphone. I have no idea.

If you have to scroll through Netflix movies, you do it manually by tapping and dragging - 10 seconds increments. Very frustrating. Scroll 40 minutes, that’s 240 taps. And if you tap it wrong you'll have to wait for video to buffer and play. That’ll happen a dozen or more times in between. That’s how it works.

IPhone 6s, latest update

Xbox If you want a good communication app I wouldn’t recommend

If your an Xbox user or have friends who are and want to chat this seems like a no brainer of a download, but after having about a year , it hasn’t made the changes I feel it needs to. One thing they have sorely lacked in was the party feature which for me has been it works at best and god awful at worst since it can lag for no reason , wouldn’t let you join or create a party at times and worst of all when there is a party you want to join and the icon doesn’t appear for you to readily join. For me I’m frustrated with that since it’s one of the reasons I use the app in the first place. Using the PC version is better at times but I had it crash multiple times and mind you my computer isn’t over a year old yet and the components are up to date. But enough about that, messaging is one of the better features where messages actually work but the problem is sometimes it’s not live which I noticed they are working on a fix which is good to see they are trying to make it a better experience. But the worst thing for me isn’t even a feature but for some reason on all my devices I’ve had over the past 4-5 years I’ve had this app my screen randomly blacks out and you have to wait for it to come back on. Originally I thought it was my device but after having multiple friends tell me this happens to them and me going from a iPhone 6 to a XR and the problem is still reoccurring I believe it is a internal issue with the app. I feel this app can be better but it needs to work on its flaws.

Overall I’ll give this 2 stars since well it’s a on the go Xbox companion and that surprisingly goes a long way

Xbox Bring back the store/wishlist

2/13: revamped app is ok. Chat is nice. Captures immediately available on your phone once they’re uploaded is amazing! Ability to manage your game library is good except it would be even more helpful to be able to directly assign where to download it to a specific console (i.e. internal storage, SSD expansion card, external HD, etc) to override the default location on a game-by-game basis. It is, however, extremely annoying you removed the store. Absolutely need to bring this back along with the addition of the Wishlist. What possible reason did you have to remove it?!? Do you guys actually like to forgo sales opportunities & sell fewer games potentially?

5/28: can now remote download properly but pages still don’t load 90% of the time. Have to either constantly refresh the app or close completely & reopen. It is also rather frustrating trying to search for games as the Search area is only on 1 page of the Store. Why not make it always at the top to make it easier to find things we may buy from you? Mainly, the Store is just very poorly put together but the rest of the app seems helpful when it’s not randomly closing itself (which it just did).

9/5: in my experiences with the app over the past 4-6 months game pages take an exceptionally long time to load (internet speeds of 110 down/12 up) & I cannot remotely download games to my Xbox One S. I have tried numerous times to set up my Home Xbox to allow it, ensured all settings were as they should be and still nothing. I’ve reached out to their support twitter account but as the same issue is happening with the Games Pass app. In my experience, very disappointed...

Xbox Disappointed

The app use to be like my face book. I could lay down every night and watch the clips reordered by my friends of awesome game changing moments or dumb stuff that happened along the way.
Unfortunately this option just isn’t here anymore. Seems I have to individually click on each friend to open up their clips (that is if they have shared it) if they had not shared it even if they record it doesn’t show up in app.
It also barely loads your Xbox clips through the phone. I have the newest iPhone 2020. Best internet. I had never had a problem till this app go updated to its new platform. To the point I give up trying to even watch my clips I’ve made myself.

The friends list and messages are confusing to get too. Also privacy setting will block things your friends may say. Really dumb for your safety we. Aren’t showing this. Go to your Xbox settings. Blah blah blah. The app shows pc content now through store... it’s a xbox app not a Microsoft store for pc. I don’t want to have to read and look through till I find console content.

Honestly the only good thing about this now is I can download a game to my Xbox or turn my Xbox on. ( could before but this app actually works well for that) I can download a game I haven’t paid for. When I get home it’s there and I purchase it on spot and I’m ready to go. That leaves me to. A negative about this. It will not show the price of game in the xbox store through the app.

All and all this really is a poor made app. They need to bring the old features back. Game feeds and the fast load of clips.

There is more I would complain about but that’s enough for now. It’s all just a disappointment.

Xbox Beta" Bull****

Got the app with one purpose.

Looking For Group Posts.
I am a social gamer. I grew up and lived as xbox live blew up when it first released. The social aspect of Xbox is nowhere near the same with the advent of party chat to chat with friends.

When I found the LFG posts I was elated to know I could find other gamers that I could play with. I was bummed because I had to use the app on the xbox which usually either crashed the game I was playing or paused the game in some scenarios unless the game was online, then I would be a sitting duck.

I was then informed the Xbox app allowed Looking For Group posts which changed EVERYTHING. I was able to stay in game; entertain my current party, keep the lobby active, and make necessary changes to my character while waiting on interested people. I could keep games loaded and not crash. I could even edit my post and remove it easier mid game.

Not long later the Xbox app updated to a "Beta" version in 2019, its 2021 now. This beta removed the LFG post option along with many others. Xbox made a news post indicating that a lot of features had in fact been removed for the beta app and new functions would be rolled out as time goes by. After 2 years and a lot of people asking for it you would think we would have LFG posts as an option again but we don't. 2 years later Xbox has left us with an inferior app that has minimal functionality rollout. The old app worked better and had more options to act as an integrated piece of the xbox other than a phone app.

Xbox failed with this app. They deleted the old app and released this more limited version as a "Beta" and have never rolled out more options as promised.

Xbox Where’s the store???????

The only thing i used the app for was to buy games that i would later play on my console.

As I wrote in my previous review, the store was flawed because it didn’t let you browse the sale section specifically. But it was better than nothing!

Now Microsoft took away the store from the app? This is a bad decision for not only people like me who preferred to shop for games when they are away from home, but also a bad business decision. This is going to hurt them in sales. I am almost guaranteed to buy less games from them if they make it harder to shop.

See my previous review below (they never fixed the issue described and now they just did away with it entirely)

The Microsoft Store portion is essentially useless for people who prefer to browse the games that are on sale each week. The only sale games it shows are the Games with Gold ones, which represent only a very small fraction of the sale priced games under “Deals” each week and it never includes the biggest deals and best games.

Microsoft has good sales on digital games but they strongly deter you from using the app to buy them with the poor design.

The big winner in this programming fail are Sony and Nintendo. I check all 3 digital stores each week and buy the games that are the lowest price. Since sony and nintendo actually have a deals section Microsoft has lost out on at least several thousand dollars just from me over the last few years when I bought games from their competitors. Had this app actually shown the Deals I would have definitely bought many of those games on Xbox One - especially since my PS hard drives (both external and internal) are nearly full because the PSN store sales are easy to view.

Xbox Obnoxious, ready to delete!

I’m getting so sick of the constant updates that just make the app more and more useless for me.

The fact you cannot look at who’s following you, or who you are following, without using the actual console is bull crap! I like to clean out my friends list once in a while, by removing people I follow, but who are no longer following me, but now there’s no way to do so on the app, bc you can only see the number of friends/followers, without the actual ability to click on either area.

Also, why remove the tab that allowed me to see all my friends activity feeds from the main screen!? I actually liked opening up the app and seeing all the captures from friends, and now that’s gone! Now you have to click on each friend and scroll through their content! DO YOU KNOW HOW TIME CONSUMING AND EXTRA THAT IS? I don’t even take the time to look anymore, as I’m sure no one looks at my content anymore either.

The remote/keyboard option that allowed you to type from your phone to your console, now completely broken. The keyboard doesn’t even work anymore, and when it does pop up, and acts like it’s typing, nothing actually shows up on the console.

You are now able to customize your profile picture, although that was down for MONTHS, without an explanation as to why!

The only thing I like about this new update, is the fact I can go offline and online from the app itself. I sometimes want to check stuff/update without turning on my Xbox and having all of the United States sending me invites the moment they are alerted. Now I can press “go offline” and do my business, and easily appear back “online” after I’ve actually turned my console off.

I’m 2 seconds from deleting it off my phone!

Hey Xbox people, STOP CHANGING THE APP CONSTANTLY, BC NOW IT’S BROKEN

Xbox Cool, but limited

First off, my experience with the Xbox One Elite was a total nightmare. When I brought it home and opened it, I loved it. But for whatever reason, it didn't update the software. Finally it did and when I played COD BOps 3, in "campaign", it had lag. So I returned it, a perfectly fine hardware system and traded it for a new one. Which also had the same problems. BOps 3 is finally fixed, kinda. You would think that this is Treyarchs first rodeo, but it's their 4th and the fact that it was so atrocious at launch is embarrassing.
One complaint about the Xbox Live app is I wish I could watch my clips whenever I wanted. If this is a option, I haven't found it. Why? Because the user interface is not easy. Repeat, not easy.
Also accepting a new friend request is a joke. Repeat, joke! It doesn't say "accept friend request" like the past. In the past it was easy. Now you have to go to messages? Hell I don't even know, but you have to scroll down and hit the "add" option? Which isn't even at the top of the list? Fail! What happened to just a simple; "accept friend request"?
Also my system works about 70% of the time when logging on. Maybe if less time was focused on cramming the Hulu, Netflix and all this other Shovel Knight ads down our throats the interface would be more user friendly and less, hmmmmm, cluttered?
You know why Apple is a world leader? BC their interface is "simple", "easy", "my mom can do it"
Ohhhhh, and guess what? On these new State of the art Systems..., no voice recording messages to friends! I have to type everything! It's a f'ing joke-show. If all my friends didn't own this, I would have returned it. But I love my games. And I love whatXbox Live used to be...
Please fix it. Like no voice messaging? Really? That within itself is a complete reflection of this failure.
