Insurance / Excess fee of £3000
Hi,
This is a complaint with regards to a minor accident on 18/09/21. The claim was made by the person who actually hit me. I choose not to make any claim as the cost to fix my right fender was under £200.
On the 28th of June 2022, Mr Keavin O'Leary from XS Direct recovery department sent me an email stating that I must pay the full £3000 excess fee. Also, a price breakdown was attached to the email with a total damage cost of £7500.85. This was the claim against me.
The attached pictures are the same pictures taken by myself to the car that hit me, and XS Direct have them too. I would like to know how can this minor damage can cost £7500.85 or £3000 the excess fee that they want me to pay.
I find myself in a position where I will take legal action if needed in order to prove that all this excess fee/ price breakdown is not relevant.

The letter you have provided from your broker Insure Your Motor is related to you policy premium, not the excess. It explains that no refund was due to you as there was a claim against the policy, as is common in insurance policies. Therefore any refund paid to you needed to be returned. Hello. I would like to make a very big complaint to your company with this letter. I was contacted a week ago by Mr. Noel Brady from the claims department who claims that he does not believe in my version and that I was not involved in the so-called accident of 02.12.2019. To make a small recap, I was accused by your company that at the same time I was involved in an accident near Manchester. I want to remind you that I live in London and a trip there would take about 4 hours by car . I have never been to that place, I was not involved in this accident and a very important thing to keep in mind is the fact that I have already demonstrated to the investigator sent by your company to my home. I proved that I was at Luton Airport at the same time, so it is very clear that I was not involved in this accident. Moreover, my car is taken through the finances from the dealership and if an incident of this kind had happened I would have had to report immediately because without their approval, I can't even change a sensor. I do not understand why this harassment continues against me in the conditions in which I am a model client, I have never had problems, I paid the insurance in a single installment and I consider it unfair to be accused of something that I didn't do it. At the same time, through the letter sent home, I was informed that my policy will be raised to the amount of 3, 000 pounds, which I find quite ridiculous. I will ask you to come up with clear evidence to prove these serious allegations against me. And I beg you very much to stop these serious harassments, resolve this spasm once and for all or I will have to act further in Court where I will come with very clear evidence in which I will demonstrate the stress and pressure you have put on me. wrongfully.

I am to proceed with legal action for a case for discrimination as my insurance policy was cancelled due to not disclosing spent criminal convictions which I was not asked about upon filling out an application. This discrimination has now left me all but unisurable and has caused me excessive stress which led to me being hospitalised and led to loss of earnings. Your company is claiming that a sentence of 4 years which I received was never spent but under the criminal rehabilitation act 1976 I do NOT have to disclose spent convictions. My convictions were never even of a driving related offence and this is basically the underwriter hoping I am nieve enough to just accept their decision! I was involved in an accident that wasn't my fault not long in to my policy and now they are just doing this to be obstructive and avoid paying out. I am to begin a blog and will be contacting other users of your services who gave left negative reviews in order to gather support and crumble your reputation online via any review platform possible. I am currently awaiting a final decision letter from you and am already prepared to go as far as possible through the FCA and Ombudsman to plead my case! I do not want the insurance reinstated I want to take your company to court for discrimination which I ma clearly a victim of here to stop this happening to others.

My car was stolen on april the 30th, and the person who was dealing with this claim was julie cramer. It took 5months for my claim to be settled, the stress ive been through within the 5months is not explainable, ive paid so much money for rentals, and cabs that 5months time frame has litterally drained me. After 4months she requested a receipt for the vehicle and also after 4months I was told they was going to investigate cctv in the area. I told her why would you do this after 4months, this is the first thing that should of been done. Not after 4months. She literally played games with me I even sent my payslips to prove I can buy a car all this unnecessary stuff just to waste my time and money. Long story short I got a settlement after 5months which is below what my car is worth of the incident. She said I need to prove it by sending 3cars which I did, but have now received an email saying this is the last offer. This is ridiculous. You have told me to send proof I have done so. So what now is the reason to not pay my cars actual cash value. I am disgusted with xs direct. I will report this company everywhere, and make sure no one every does insurance with a scam company like xs direct, I would like this value of my car to be paid out to me!

This company has caused me nothing but trouble and put me in the worst financial difficulty. I was a named driver on a car i got through my work for my mum. I had a seriously bad accident in the vehicle and it got written off. I made a claim and the company took 3 weeks to make a decision to void the insurance due to the V5 being in my name (the named driver) instead of my mums name (the main driver). This was an unintentional accident made when setting up the insurance and the company were not interest in the trouble this had caused us at all. Rude staff and no understanding for their customers. The company then changed us £300 to cancel the account as they voided the insurance, £1500 for storage of the vehicle when they had taken 3 weeks to make the decision to void and £1200 for the inspector who came to my house to interview myself and mum after the incident. The company refused to give us back our £3800 premium and yet still charged us £3000 charges. This has left us in £24, 000 debt and a void on our insurance policy. This company will do everything in its power to not support their customers and get out of paying any claim. AVOID AT ALL TIMES!

Back im april my husband was slowly comming out of a parking space when he clipped another car... Other then drive off he did the right thing and went to find the lady whos car hed gone into... Even though you could hardly see any damage... Half hour later he found her and gave his details... We dident hear anything until the 5th of this month (september) when I got home and found a letter saying to pay 3000 pounds by 16th september... I rang them up thinking I could speak to somone who would understand and be reasonable but I ended up speaking with a very abrupt man who told us to pay all in 1 go or 500 a month but 1 day late our insurence would stop he then said we can do 250 a month but they would stop insurence straight away... I asked him if there any way off doin an affordable payment plan as we rely on our car for my little girl who has brain damage from seizures and dosent like walking far... He suggests I got my financial problems sorted and best to find another insurence company.. He said we signed an agreement there nothing we can do... It could go to dept collectors but insurance would still stop... My husband did the right thing buy goin to find the women hows this far we get treated this bad and made to feel like where in the wrong... We cant even remember signing anything and sending anything... And if we did we certainly dident sign up for the abruse... They said they have payed out 1000 already but because off them being so unfair we got to try get a loan by monday that has even more costs to pay back... How is a company allowed to get away with this much excess we though we where covered for 4000 pounds not have to pay the it... No wonder there so many unclaimed crashes... Hi, my dad had an accident on 23rd of September 2018. He was driving on A12, Chelmsford on the fast lane when a coach changed from the 3rd lane to middle one and crossed half of the 1st one (where my dad was driving). The rear of the coach hit my dad`s car on the front left side throwing him into the kerb, from the kerb back in the coach and stopped in the barriers from the middle of the road. The third party driver stopped after 250-300 metres which shows that he had speed. The insurance did not investigate properly this case, the damages (my dad`s car is total loss) and after 9 months they contacted us to say that my dad is to blame as there were no photos and no witnesses just statements from my dad and the other driver. I asked them many times to ask for footage or tracking record from the coach and they said had none which is unlikely because being a company vehicle and transporting people is a must to have tracker and camera fitted. XS Direct refused to go in court or to continuing fighting on the base "We feel that the version of events of the third party are more probably to happen" which is not enough to close a case with. We paid for toying the car from the accident location to a storage in Chelmsford, 10-14 days of storage and toying back to London plus an engineer sent by insurance to check the state of the vehicle after the accident. How they handled this case is not efficient and professional.

I had a crash on the 24th december I was driving on the m11 towards loughton went to indicate in the right lane from the middle lane I was travelling at approx 50-60mp as i've gone to change lanes the car was in my blind spot it's hit the back end of my drivers side which as caused me to loose control and slide in to the back end drivers side of the emergency vehicle infront of me. I was insured with right choice and excess direct are there brokers. Both vehicles had minor damage and both drove of fine. Excess direct void my policy due to incorrect information when I opened the policy they then sent me a letter saying I owe £16153.87 plus £1800 for the insurance for the year although they void my insurance plus a extra £2400 for the third party hire vehicle. I can't afford any of this bare in mind I was insured at the time.

On the 2nd of november 2018 we was reversing out of the car park I looked both ways and it was clear then all of a sudden there was a car at the back of us so we couldnt get out. So I got out and the man said you have just hit me I said to the man was that mark already there on your car he muttered stumbled in his words and said yes no I said theres no way we have done that the car door looked like it was an old mark anyway he said to me I hope you are insured my response was yes and he asked me for my name number so politely I gave him these datails and that was the end of the matter. But there was no damage to my car no scratch paint marks on his car nuthink so I waited to hear from my insurer to to contact me and we received a letter asking for my details and that there was an enginer coming out to look at our car the inspection was done and the engineer said that there was no damage to our car and everythink was working on the car sensors and that he couldnt see any damage and we hadnt had any repairs done because there was damage to our car.
I filled out the form they sent me asking about what had happened where it was and that was all done then on the 14 feb I received a letter from xs direct saying that the third party had been settled £3756.00 and that our policy carries out all section excess £3000 so they are saying that I have to pay £2961.60 is due by the 25th feb 19.
It also stated on the letter that I had put in a claim for £38.40 of damage to my vehicle but I havent there was no damage to my car so I dont no why that is on the letter so when I phoned all they was bothered about whether I was going to pay they said that I have to pay I said I dont no why theres no damage to my car I never even touched his car. So I said I couldnt afford to pay that all in one go buy the 25th feb 19 so I asked about a payment plan they said yes £700 pound over four months as that is when my insurance runs out and needs renewing oh but no they said if I dont pay the the £700 a month to clear balance they would cancel my insurance and I would have to go elsewhere but then they said or pay it over 12 months at £258.00 that would pay it off but then I would still have no insurance so I feel that I have been treated unfairly as I am xs directs customer and they have shown me no support in this matter I havent even received the report from my car just letters saying that my insurance would be cancelled if I didnt correspond with them on this matter they would cancel insurance am I going to pay thats all they are bothered about is money so then they said it would have to go to the debt collecters and then they would put 18% on top of the debt so I just feel there is no resolving this matter with xs direct who are supposed to be there for there customers I just want a to be able to come to an arrangement that I can afford as I am going to have to get insurance elsewhere and then I have 4 months left on my insurance that I have to pay to close brothers which is £179 a month as I think xs direct have already been paid for the 12 months so I am worried about this as how I am going to pay a new insurance company plus this one that I have currently have at the moment and then this debt.

I had experienced a cancellation policy from your side which is I don't understand why, they said they sent me form by post and I didn't receive I swear to god and I've spoke to customer services and even your manager and I didn't get no where, I use this car to drop my daughter school only and now I don't have insurance, I passed through very bad experience effected on my health and work, I couldn't do nothing and I was chasing my case all the time, if you go back to the records, you will find out how they treated me and I was tearful, they didn't know where's my car however I gave them the address many times and then I found out they didn't Repair'e after 26 days of holding the car and they asked me to pay 600£ to release the car from the garage they holding it, I didn't understand nothing, the lady called me to assist my car and I said after one month and half u asking me to send engineer and I don't want bcz you didn't respect me as client, and the lady she didn't warn me about canceling the policy if I don't assist my car however they said they going to call back later and they didn't and then I knew they cancelled the policy, now I can't drop my daughter and due to my illness I can't go every time by bus or taxi, I have anxiety and depression so pls find me a solution as soon as u can my number is +[protected]

I have had an accident on 14/12/2017 in which i have no fault in.
My insurance company XS DIRECT closed the case at a 50/50 basis, to which I have never agreed on. I called them and asked if they checked the surveillance cameras at the place of the accident (which show clearly that it was not our fault) and they answered me that it is not their job to do that and that they don't care if I don't agree with the 50/50 case. They are making me pay £3000 voluntary excess and we clearly remember that our voluntary excess was £500 only.
XS DIRECT have also cancelled my insurance that I had with Complete Cover Group, because these brokers are part of XS DIRECT also and they are charging me a cancellation fee, even though I wasn't the one who cancelled the policy.
They refuse to give me the documents which states my voluntary excess amount and everything they say just sounds dodgy and a lie. We are socked because we are innocent and this problem just came into our lives when we least need it.

Had an accident that wasn't my fault went 50/50 in court, xsdirect didn't send my car value to court so had to accept glass value. They ring me up 2 month after court saying I have to pay them £660, only god knows why but get threatened with debt collectors. Sean Doyle who I spoke to threatened me, called me a liar, spoke over me, was very very rude.

I had an accident on the 12/10/2018 in my car... Vehicle Reg: GY61 LGA. I have now been told that my claim is void as I had someone come out to take a statement from me and they Stated I was using my car for other use than what it was meant for which I disagree as I was on the way back from helping my Friend put some lights up which I then stayed was at his place for a further hour catching up... I see this as social use where as they've claimed it as I working, coming back from doing a job?

no fault accident
My partner was involved in a accident through no fault of her own.
We informed yourselves at the start of September and since that time we have been chasing up for an update on the repairs.
We have been fobbed off with the response that the other party has not responded to any requests.
I am reporting the matter to the police and seeking legal advice on the matter
We have had exactly the same problem, someone side swiped our car, police said it was other persons fault, an investigator that works for xs direct came out & said it was other persons fault, we sent all pictures that was taken at the time etc & we kept having to ring them for updates, accident happened in July & end of October we rang to see what was happening to be told other person denies fault & if we want to carry it on we need to get a solicitor, the man was very arrogant & kept huffing and puffing on other end of phone, we thought paying £216 a month insurance that they dealt with all that but turns out your not, we have now cancelled policy which cost us another £183 & have gone with admiral who are far cheaper & cover you for things like this happening

I had a 235i bmw and paid 2700 for insurance, I sold my car 6 months into my insurance to trade in for something cheaper - a fiat 500 0.9L - and they are charging me 200£ more for a car worth £4K compared to my bmw which was £27k. Disgusting scammers. I can't beloeve what scam artists they are. I tried to cancel it and assumed I'll get close to half of the rest of what I paid but guess what, they're taking 75% of it. Nasty nasty money hungry robbers. Worse than your average thief on the street.

I am writing this letter as I am very dissapointed with the way you have dealt with my insurance policy. I had an accident on the 2nd of June 2018, and I wrote an email to brightside about this I also spoke to someone that called me to discuss the incident further. I had been trying to contact you for a long time, and I wasn't successful I contacted brightside numerous times and they transferred me to yourselves and I was never successful at getting through. I then later to find out that you have cancelled my policy due to non cooperation. I don't believe that this is a valid reason to cancel my policy when you have not replied to my emails and answer the telephone calls. I am now out of car insurance when I only had a couple of months left on the insurance. This now causes alot more problems for future insurance policy.
