I searched this company and found there are several complaints concerning this company’s bate and switch policy and the cancel order policy. I placed an order and called the next day requesting cancellation. The company refused. I and my husband expressed our complaint concerning the fraudulent practice of this company. I was not surprised to find several had also complained about this company’s trickery when it comes to its wording in advertisement. As one stated in another complaint, "their wording is dishonest" I agree. I am surprise they consider themselves to be a Christian company, with such horrific practices. They lure you in offering giant discounts and free books only to over charge you and then discount the outrageous price. As you can see in the email I was charged for the so called 25 free books. Once I brought it to his attention, I was sent another email with the 25 removed, but the price for each book is now more. If the books are free then the price should have not changed... ... I plan on writing my elected officials as well.

Xulon Press does represent Christian values as they advertise. Once you send them your fee, there is absolutely no help from them in helping you getting your book published. I made the mistake of publishing with them and will never do so again. I warn others considering Xulon not to publish with them.

After being invited to participate in a writing contest with the winner receiving "FREE Xulon Press Elite Publishing Package (valued at $7, 754) and a professionally-crafted press release to announce their win to the media, to bookstores, and on Xulon Press’ website, " and spending several hours editing my submission, I discovered at the end of the entry process that they wanted $39 to complete the submission! What a deal! If every hopeful sends $39 they can surely rack up a nice purse on this one!

Woefully disappointed in this "Christian" publisher!

Go with a smaller company that will care about your book. Xulon is just too big to have time to care about the customer. It's all about the $$

I cannot comment on Xulon's practices to be non-christian. I never had a negative feeling about them except two issues. One was addressed in another person's comments. They admit that they have grown too fast to handle the business they have. According to their rep., they were in the process of hiring more staff.
However, we have major disagreements about royalties and the retail price of my book. It is hard to believe that if they drop the retail price to a more considerable cost to consumers, that I have to buy my own book (which I own the copyright to) at their original price. Yes, greed may have a part of it. But I know God has laid this book on my heart to publish and felt that Xulon was the publisher to do it.. So ultimately He is the one who controls it's destiny. So, I must trust Him to bless it no matter how the forces of evil try to discourage it. Maybe if we complain enough something will be done. If we pray more, We will receive the results God desires. Brothers and sisters, lets commit to pray for Xulon as we struggle with this company that those in authority will be convicted of the "less than Christian" business practices. That our books will reap all that God has intended for them to reap in-spite of what Xulon does or does not do for us. And that we trust Him more to know that He is ultimately in control.

I too have been had by Xulon Press. I have kept a positive attitude and TRUST they would be up front, honest and match their hype.
Today, nearly 5 months later; I am sooo disappointed, disgusted, frustrated and regretful that I went with Xulon Press.
I jumped through all the hoops to get my book published to meet the Christmas sales deadline. Through numerous neglectful, unprofessional, to the point of being nearly laughable if it weren't for the reality of : "This is my book and I want to get it done, and done RIGHT, and PROFESSIONALLY. . . . " . I can't find the words to describe how unbelievably disgusted, disappointed and frustrated I am. Yes, they insist the client PAY fully up front, before the book can go to press: Once paid. . . FORGET ABOUT IT!
And the ridiculous excuses they make! sounds like the same excuses they made several years ago. . . this clearly shows the company is not even trying to walk it's talk. "the company is growing too fast."
Well, with any luck at all; that won't be a lasting response. . . . as it has been for the past couple of YEARS!
and the employees, can't even do an adequate follow up!
CLEARLY, the left hand doesn't have a clue what the right hand is doing.
HELLO, is there any management who cares?
When I got Jarad, supposedly management: I question HOW he got there: but he keeps telling me "He's the one that makes the BIG BUCKS!" like that's what I want to hear . . . after 5 months of screw-ups!
Please, do yourself a favor and Look ELSEWHERE if you're wanting to publish your book!
It is not to my liking to post a complaint, I feel in this case, the company drove me to this.

My published book possesses all the tangible assets I wanted, (ie. graphics, binding, etc.). Unfortunately, after the publishing (which I paid for up-front), seemingly, there's nothing else they desire to, or can do without additional monetary charges. That's where my disillusionment began; the constancy of, 'book fair inclusion' or 'insertion into publications', etc., notifications, but all for a (hefty, in my world) price. Again, the quality of the finished book was thoroughly acceptable, the publishing process was smooth with helpful representatives...and then it ended...and I sense a disconnect, unless I have money in hand. It's unfortunate when Christian companies don't strive to be revolutionary among their competitive peers...instead of mirroring prevailing secular practices. I'm not in the publishing business, however, I'm inclined to believe there's more to be afforded Christian authors that don't threaten the bottom line. Do I seek a free ride ?...perhaps in my dreams, but, No! Albeit, I DO expect a Christian publisher to think/act outside of the fettering, and proverbial 'this is how we've always seen it done' dusty box. I rest assured there's the most needed, mission filling, informative, entertaining, and quality books available today...not being read because of that ol' chainer himself, ...money.

Among all Book Publishing companies, I chose Xulon press because it's a Christian Publishing company.
Your comments above seem to be a replica of what I am experiencing with Xulon Press since Jan. 2017!
I am still patiently working with this company...and hoping all of us can exercise the God's message even through this kind of business leading to a successful delivery of Christian love. My book is linked to a mission foundation: My Journey to Wholeness through which I am advocating Holistic Health care with the emphasis on Jesus healing principles.

Wow, reading you guys comments really has made me second guess dealing with Xulon. My rep. Eric Sullivan seemed to be genuine and sincere with assisting me in publishing my book. I pray that a Christian based publishing company is doing things with the integrity of The Holy Spirit so we can get God's Word out through our faith experiences. It seems the main theme from the comments are Xulon has become to big and does not have the man power or professionalism to effectively help authors after they have received the full payment. I really would like to get my book published because God laid it in my spirit and I know it will be an encouraging blessing to people. If not Xulon, what other suggestions does anyone has?

I was concidering Xulon but I saw a comment by an author that said she would never go with a publishing company. She hired a gal to work with and got her book print ready. She found a printer and voila her book was published with less cost. I can't remember the name of the author but I contacted her to see if would share the girls info. I called Shanna and she was the best girl to work with. She was helpful, she was courteous, very patient and after working with her she got by book print ready. She gave me a flat fee. If anyone is interested I will give you her info. My grandson Tommy did my cover design and it is beautiful. I can also give you his info. I found a printer by my home and he has been wonderful to work with too. He will print 100 copies to 1000 copies. My cost was less than what a publisher asks for. Next week I will have my book printed and I am sooooo excited. So I too will never go to a publishing co. I did my own copyright, library of congress, barcodes, editing, etc. I learned alot but IT IS DONE! My grandson did a beautiful website, we got pay pal and I am getting orders already. So exciting. I had read that even when you get a Publishing Co you still have to do everything yourself to get your book going. If anyone needs help to publish your book, write to me. I can help you. I have learned by myself but it sure was worth it. I hope this was helpful for you. My website is; http://www.theheartofagiant.com

My experience with Xulon Press has been phenomenal. The team was very professional and handled all of my concerns respectfully and in a timely manner. They captured my vision and printed my book as requested. I am doing well with my books. There is not one company that is perfect. Each company believe it or not has their flaws. However, don't allow someone bad experience discourage you from fulfilling your dream.

My advice...Pray about it and allow the Holy Ghost to lead you in the right direction. He did it for me with Xulon Press and I am happy and successful author.

Wow look at all these "Christian" authors judging and lying about a company. Being a "Self-Published" author means that you have to do work. Even when you get to my level of Traditional publishing, you STILL have to promote your book! Stop blaming a company because you can't get your book to sell. Maybe you should stop speaking bad about Xulon Press and go work on promoting your book. What a shame to see this. To everybody considering Xulon Press - they are a GREAT company. They are owned by Salem Communications so their marketing is fantastic! Instead of reading these "negative" and "very false" comments about Xulon Press, go research the positive things about this company. Everybody that spoke badly about Xulon Press should be sued for INTERNET DEFAMATION! By the way, I am a PROFESSIONAL published author with Traditional companies and Xulon Press. Xulon Press is a great company.

Upon reading the bulk of these posts, one can easily figure Xulon's simply out to get your hard earned bucks and has no compassion as a company representing itself as of the Christian genre. Look, folks: I've published stuff myself and gone through all the work and tedium involved. I have a traditional publisher who handles non-Christian works I've done and will do so with future works, so this isn't exactly my first rodeo. Self publishing companies are in the business of printing up, setting up and putting up for sale the works of authors trying to go through those steps. It ain't cheap! Most of the time those works aren't exactly what ANY publisher, nor any agent for that matter, would wish to add onto their work loads. Xulon Press does exactly what they portend to do and I, for one, have found them to be every bit as legitimate as any other type of publisher. I'm pleased with the quality of my latest book and their expedience at working with me, and I haven't had a problem with communicating with them. Whenever money's changing hands you can expect lots of hype and embellishments from any vendor. These folks probably are caring Christians...but they're human, too. Also, there's just no way in this world you'll receive such a whopper slice of the royalties pie from a traditional publisher. For me it's so far...so good. as I'm working diligently at promoting what God's been inducing me to get out to anyone who'll read my humble words. I'll pray for you all. Steve Taylor

I have read quite a few reviews in forum context and YouTube videos, etc. re: Xulon. I have a lot of concerns in publishing my book with them after reading some of them as well. However, I have not made it entirely through the process yet so I cannot comment on a final opinion. I do want to add to this group of commentary a few thoughts. First, if an author researches any of these self publishing companies it won't take long to discover they are all expensive. As noted previously, it isn't cheap! Secondly, I have also seen that some of those voicing their complaints, if you research them as well, seem to complain a lot and about many companies across the board. This should be considered when making decisions as well. Third, I have yet to find a self publishing company out there that doesn't have their own share of complaints. This of course makes it difficult to really feel too confident in any of them. I have seen some pros and cons so far. I can say that Xulon has a very helpful payment plan option that I could not find with other companies. The best I came across was to break the package cost up into two or three payments VS Xulon's up to 12 payments. For me this was a factor in my decision process. I have had some concern as the marketing emails have poured in for products that I felt were clearly included in my package also. However, I gave myself a little more than a year to get this project done so I haven't spent too much time fretting over it just yet. Rather I have tried to stay focused on developing my story and praying over it. As also noted previously, I would like to add that if an author is working with Xulon Press there stands to reason a good chance that author is a Christian seeking to publish with a Christian company. As such, it also stands to reason that if a story has been laid on the heart of that author by The Lord then that is where the trust should be left to see it through to fruition. PLEASE NOTE: I am not saying it isn't helpful to have honest reviews, it is. I am not saying I know Xulon Press to be above the complaints either. I have my own concerns. I am simply saying that as a believer, I feel it is imaparative to keep the faith and trust in the One who compelled me, and those called to write stories laid on their hearts, to write in the first place. He is faithful and will finish what He starts. I do know that there is much work and self promotion to be done when self publishing as well as when publishing through traditional means. Think about it, who else will have the passion to market more than the author who felt called to write the story? Due diligence? Yes! By all means. Contribute to help others make informative decisions? Again, yes! I just feel it would be more helpful to provide balanced opinions that include frustrations as well as what those posting have found to be helpful. This is what I am looking for when I research things and hope to find in my continued research as I publish different works. Just my opinion. I am learning so take it as such. Blessings and Thanks!

It seems to me that most of those who complained here would not be able to complain had they read what Xulon was offering. They do a good job of disclosure on their site and in their forms. My guess is that most if not all of these grumbling and complaining reviewers would have felt the same with any publisher. Do yourself a favor and read what is being offered if you go with Xulon or anyone. Then don't expect preferential treatment and do expect issues when publishing, which almost always happen, be realistic. Xulon is really a decent company when compared to all of the self publishing options. They will do a good job for you.

A big part of the problem is that many Christian writers seem to think they have the message everyone needs to hear by tomorrow if not sooner. Trying to rush things for Christmas or whatever only leads to frustration and grief. Give yourself plenty of time and enjoy the process.

Then when you book is ready you need to get to work. We run one of the largest Christian writer websites and far to often Christian writers think their God inspired book is going to fly off the shelf. I am here to tell you this will not happen, even the Gospel message needed promotion. How will they believe if they have not heard. No matter how you publish you need to be prepared to market the heck out of your book if you want it to sell.

I have had a wonderful experience so far. I really don't know what people expect. I didn't try to go through one of the big publishers and only wanted to self publish. Xulon has been there every step of the way. Jason and Jennifer did everything they said they would do. I have been pleasantly surprise with the amount of care and expertise they have provided. My book is just what I wanted.
Don't be afraid to work with them, not everyone can be satisfied nor can everyone be writers but if you feel led to tell your story, don't let the naysayers and complainers stop you from reaching your potential. God Bless.

Xulon did publish my book, but I doubt I'll use the company twice. It's expensive and frustrating. I should warn those about to use Xulon that the company does use a lot of sales pressure and scamish tactics (mainly through emails) to get the maximum amount of money out of its authors. There's no question but that these things are unethical from a biblical point of view. I'm not being judgmental, I'm just stating the facts. I've been published by a secular press before and it did not do these things. The complaint I really have is the one others have mentioned: once Xulon has your money, it's hard to get responses from their reps afterwards. Indeed, you'll rarely get a return phone call or email from the very person who is sending out automated high pressure sales pitches to you unless you're calling about spending more money with Xulon. If your question is "are my books ready?" or "when will my books arrive?" they'll give you the silent treatment. This is the frustrating part that's sending me on to another publisher for my next work. Xulon's policy is clear: get new contracts and rake in the money quickly, because most people won't write two books anyway, so don't waste time trying to keep the customer, who has paid in full, happy.

well after reading the many comments, both positive and negative, I will continue to pray about where the Lord would lead me to publish my book.
I am currently working on my first manuscript and yes the Lord has inspired me to write this message and He will be faithful to lead and direct me to the right publisher.
In my short experience I have come to learn that as we continue to trust the Lord with the message He has to speak through us, His blessing and favour will remain on us to accomplish His work.
This is a tool He has placed in my hands for Kingdom purposes and a message that will bring joy and healing to many and as long as we do not take anything for granted, become self centered or focus on our own selfish desires but continue to give God all the honour and glory for the many gifts He has placed within us, we cannot fail.
But if we truly focus on the message we feel He wants us to share and strive to get that message out because we know it is going to be a blessing to someone rather than focus on getting it out there in order to make a buck, the Lord will be faithful to bless us in ways we never dreamed possible.
Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, then, all these things will be added unto you.
Many blessings to all.

My friend is having her book published with Xulon. It appears that the book will cost $60 each after she has had to revise it an infinite number of times into an inferior product compared with that she first designed. They "can't do this" and they "can't do that". But really, they'll promote it nationally, laying it out on tables at conferences and national events. Well, I wish her the BEST, but It looks like a scam to me. She was a whole lot better off with the nice lady at the local print shop who produced exactly what she designed. I'm sorry for her earnest belief that because "Christian" is attached to a company, they would never do her wrong. You know what P.T. Barnum said. On the other hand, it looks like a great way to earn some fast and easy money. Maybe I'll set up a company like that (I'm kidding).
What happens a lot in reviews is that once a company gets some bad ones, they assemble the troops to post a bunch of good ones. That feels like this here. Much to my sorrow, I've come to mistrust companies who tout things like Christianity to hold up a shield of virtue when really they're just after the money. Best of luck to you all.

I published my book with Xulon two and a half years ago. It has been the worst experience that I've ever had in my life. I paid 1990.00 package. Then an extra upfront $30 for whatever submission charge. They changed my person that was to help me 7 times during this time period. I never got the real help I needed. Only wait, wait, wait. I paid an extra $425 for an edit. When the book came back to me, it wasn't edited. There's were multiple spaces between words, paragraphs suddenly ended in the middle of sentences, words not corrected and so on. When I asked them about the editing, they said that I paid for a "light edit." What is a light edit? They did not tell me this. It just seems like they what money, money, money without doing the work. They are extremely unprofessional in every area. I had to have a friend who is a professional read and edit it and she called them. She had a hard time getting through. They were very rude to her. She persisted. They finally agreed to republish and correct the mistakes that we showed them. Then a year later. they would pay me my small check of 70.00 royalty. They said I had to pay off the balance before getting the money. This was around Nov. 2014, So I terminated the contract, and the balance was taken care of. I asked about the royalty payment. Then they said I would have to wait until Jan. 2015 because it's paid quarterly. Well, it's now Feb 18th, 2015 and I still do not have my royalty payment. I called them but no return reply so far. It shows in the author center that payment was made. I did republished my book with Create Space in Jan. I had to pay $99 for the pdf file on the book to send Create Space. Create Space is so nice and easy to work with they are totally helpful. I've already sold several books. I've gotten a small royalty payment and expecting my next one soon. I can't say it enough if you are considering Xulon, please don't, but run from them. They are extremely hard to work with, untruthful and unprofessional and of course not Christian in practice at all!

Upon a friend's recommendation, I submitted a manuscript to Xulon and have regretted it ever since. The contract I paid for specified that I would receive 15 copies of my book. To date, three years later and in spite of contacting my rep multiple times, I have received only one. We also built into my contract tickets to a book fair in Florida, which came and went with no mention of tickets or other information from Xulon. My paperback book with its lackluster cover has appeared on Amazon.com at a price so high that no average person can afford it, and although my family members have bought multiple copies I have not received a single sales report from Xulon. I self-published my first book with Tate, and I wish I had stuck with them. Their company has much more integrity across the board. I'm brushing Xulon's dust off my feet.

I happen to come across the all the comment about Xulon on yesterday. I have to admit, I thought to myself, "what have I gotten myself into"? I actually was going onto the website to sign into the Author's Center. Yes, I too have a book being published by Xulon as well. I read many of the negative and some positive comments about the publishing company.
This is my comment added to all of yours! Before I chose Xulon Publishing, I prayed and asked God to lead me. Next, I researched many different publishing companies and narrowed my choices down to two, and Xulon being one of the two choices. I prayed some more and Xulon was the choice ("In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path"... Proverbs 3:6). In all that I did, I had to trust God from the beginning.
We have to remember as Christians we are the salt of the earth, and the light of the world according to the Gospels, meaning we suppose to show the ones who are not salt and light how things are to be done in Christ. Let us understand, I am not saying do not be honest, because I ran into a snag as well that I know God will work out. I'm saying keep in mind Ephesians 6, that says, our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but rulers of darkness of this world, and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (paraphrased)! We have to put on "the Whole Armor of God". We all need to put on the belt of truth. Yes, we want to gain from our books, but God have a greater purpose for our stories. Yes, the publishers want to gain financially, and they will, but the focus should be God getting the glory first and everything desired will come with the package when it lines up with His will.
Often when we complain, we throw the good out by focusing only on the bad and this is what the world sees. If I only focused on the snag I have ran into, I could easily look over the wonderful encounters that I have had to this point. My front and back cover of my book was so beautiful that I had tears of joy. I am not an artist, but God put me in touch with a graphic design artist through Xulon that was. The individuals who formatted the script of my book left me reading and gazing at it for hours because it was so beautiful. To think, I have not yet had that wonderful experience that I hear about of holding the book in my hand for the very first time.
I am a witness, I had no idea I would be writing a book and telling my story. All that I went through in life, I was just trying to survive, but God made me realize that it was all to bring me to this point. I needed to tell of God's goodness through my story. I say to anyone being dishonest while working for Xulon Publishing, remember what Isaiah 1:27 and 31 says, 27" Because the Lord is righteous, the repentant will be redeemed", 31 the strongest among you will disappear like burning straw. The evil deeds are the spark that will set the straw on fire, and no one will be able to put it out.(paraphrased).
I know God is using His people to tell their stories, and I know He is using Xulon publishing to help get them told .Now, every single one of us need to do what ever part God have given us in all of it, and watch how He blesses! Thank you to all the ones that are doing your part, it is you that give God's name the glory! I prayed this morning for Xulon and the authors because I believe something great will come out of all of this. Prayer and direction is the reason I waited until today to respond. Remember, God has it!
Blessings!

I've seen many negative reviews about these self-publishing companies with their high fees and poor response after the sale. It is apparently fairly common. Research indicates that the best self-publishing options are CreateSpace and IngramSpark. They provide templates for cover design and book layout. They are reasonably priced. Going through a "Christian" publisher doesn't guarantee that a book will get into a Christian bookstore. CreateSpace is owned by Amazon but don't publish hardcovers. Ingram manages the master index used by all distribution sources worldwide including Christian bookstores and Barnes & Noble. They also provide various services - book cover design, editing, on demand printing, and marketing ...

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we need to trust God with everything and I need to post my outcome. God blessed with the "snag" I mentioned in the earlier post. Things were worked out better than I could have ever imagined. There was no problem at all. I thought I would have to pay more money because an unedited version of my manuscript had been formatted. After I bought the error to the company's (Xulon) attention, they accepted and formatted the correct manuscript with no problem.
I am happy I did not allow anything said to keep me from trusting God. I can only share my experience and I share that the Xulon team I worked with headed by Krystle as the project manager was great! I add an extra kudos to my graphics design artist from Xulon for the beautiful job done on my front and back cover, and the person who formatted my book. To all who read this, my advise is to trust God and pray. If any are still not sure, get in touch with the people mentioned that I worked with from Xulon. I can assure you they are spiritually driven. I appreciate the ability to post here!
Blessings and Prayers for all of us!

Michelle

I have had the same experience with xulon press. I suggest that everyone file a complaint with the BBB and the FBI.

I mistakenly published my book through Xulon Press. I paid all the fees including overseas marketing. My illustrator is from Korea and advised numerous family members and friends purchased the book on-line. I also have numerous friends and family who purchased the book in the U.S. After several months, I never received any royalty payments. I questioned Xulon Press who stated it would take a while for income to be posted. A few days later, about $9.00 was posted in my royalty account. I questioned Xulon Press again and was told that I could not prove any books were purchased. Do they expect me to ask everyone who bought a book to send me their receipt? I told them to cancel my subscription (which you have to pay for them to keep it on retail web sites). Xulon Press renewed the subscription without my consent and attempted to bill me. I am very angry and embarrassed for falling for their scam. Christian publishing company? I'll let God be the judge of that.

Unfortunately, having an "A" rating with the BBB isn't quite a big deal because as long as you pay your dues diligently with the BBB, they'll keep your rating high. I'm saying this from my experience because I dealt with them countless times for a company I used to work for.

I haven't yet started my publishing walk but have been researching for a publisher or to do it myself. There are notably benefits for both formats, but also deficits. However, for the complaints and such I have read here, I appreciate the information. Whether or not Xulon is a "bad" Christian company is immaterial to me. Yes, I prefer a Christian to work with but truthfully, any publisher can publish a Christian book. Even a Christian book is first and foremost a book.
Any publisher can publish a book. The fact that Xulon is working to publish and promote Christian books is amazing to me. Are they looking to simply make money in a very specialized section of books? Maybe they are, maybe not. Does it really matter? Not to me. If God wants me to use a publisher with the worst reputation and the worst business ethics, that is God's decision, not mine.
Speaking in a fully natural understanding, any business is looking to prosper and make money. Simply because it is a Christian business, does not mean it shouldn't be profitable and growing or expanding. Since when did God limit anyone to such silliness. I've worked in the printing industry myself and understand the overall costs of printing, binding and other requirements to simply make any book. Publishing is not cheap but even if it was, every business is designed to profit.
I do appreciate the complaints in that I will be aware of what I am possibly walking into if I go with Xulon for a publisher. Everyone, please remember we should never judge a book by its cover, or in more Godly terms, judge not others lest you be judged. I do wish that someone would have posted a copy of these emails sent by Xulon as proof of what they done.
I pray God to guide one and all who need publishing for their book, Christian or otherwise. I feel very sorry towards those who have been hurt or disappointed, but I would remind you to not touch that which is God's. If they are truly Christian individually or as a business, then they are God's and are not to be touched. Beware of slandering. Facts are not the same thing but simply spewing venom is not good Christian behavior either.
We cannot state that the individuals or the business are Christian. Their website says they are Christian owned and operated but understand that does not mean that the employees are "all" Christian. Remember the laws of the land, no business in the United States can hire or not hire people because they are Christian or not Christian. So they may have non-Christian employees. Christian operated simply means they are striving to run and manage the business in as Christian way. I suggest we pray for any company striving to be a Christian company in the world we live in as they will have many obstacles against them to remain on the right and Godly path given how the laws are for businesses in our world.
I pray for anyone who reads these comments and complaints to make Godly driven decisions, just as I will be doing. For anything done with God as the driver cannot be wrong.

I published a book with xulon in 2011. In all of this five years they have not sent any royalty payments. They were having internal problems, a lot of turnover regarding employees, so I was told. The service certainly was a reflection of that. I do not believe they are a Christian company. There were many issues in dealing with them. A lot of unfulfilled promises, regarding what they say they'll do and what actually gets done. In my opinion they are a scam.

I would not recommend Xulon as a publisher. They are so money grabbing as to be distasteful. The marketing "assistance" is non-existent other than to get you to spend more. Believe me, I never complain, but I felt it my duty to steer other authors away from this company. You hard earned money is too precious to waste with Xulon. I had zero returns. They take forever to produce your book - Createspace do it in less than a week. Xulon take an eternity to pay you giving you all types of rubbishy excuses to palm you off. They'll tell you that using them gives you worldwide access - it doesn't. The International side doesn't work. The video they produce is a joke. The $4000 I gave them could have put to so much better use, I feel nautious. Do it yourself, forget these so called "publishers"

You don't need to purchase a publishing package to publish your novel! You can do it yourself and get the same, if not better, results! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJE3L5WtwFw

I read quite a few of these "reviews." I have to disagree with all the negative ones. I have four books published by Xulon and I appreciate all of their help in getting my books out on the market. They did a super job for me. They are the best Christian publishing company I know. I published another book, my first one with a company that is really messed up. The owner and his son are going to court over felonies committed. I have copies of that first book and many others do, too. The sad thing is my book will not be printed any more because BBB closed that company. I am sad about my loss but I am so grateful my four later books were published by Xulon. Sorry to all the discontented authors out there. It is the company' s job to publish our books and ours to do the work of really getting our books out there. Thank you Xulon Company and reps for your dedicated expertise in helping me share the books God blessed me to author.. Sincerely, Paulette Meeks

I WOULD NEVER PAY BIG MONEY UP FRONT TO A PUBLISHER!

Personally I've heard too many horror stories about self publishing companies that promise the moon and then don't deliver as promised..Yes you do have to get involved with marketing your own books, but the problem is the cash they want; hundreds to thousands. Years ago my father became a victim to one of those scams and he spent almost every penny (Thousands of pennies) only to be stuck with a few boxes of books that he had no real clue how to market. (This was several years ago before you could find anything on the internet.) He gave them all away to family.

I tried a different route of self publishing a book that I mainly wanted to do for my grandchildren. I did not ever plan to try marketing it. The only, money I had to spend up front was for a graphic artist to do my cover and it was very reasonable (under $200 if I remember correctly) . He wasn't an employee of the publishing company, but he was chosen from a list of recommended artist. ( they also recommend editers etc too if you want to use one) I was required to buy a copy to proof read before finalizing the printing and placing it in their system. There was never any pressure tp buy a box or boxes of my books(I bought about 20 over a year to give away to family) and they offer free help and advice through their site. To me it met my needs and Its worth checking out. Once you are set up and approve the your book, its POD (Print on Demand.) You can print as few as you want for a few bucks each (mine cost me about$5 or $6 each if I remember right? plus shipping). Your book is also made available online at Barnes and Noble and Amazon as part of their service..

Check some of these POD companies online before you invest thousands of your hard earned dollars to a slaes pitch.. Its your dream, you can make it a reality for you and not a windfall for theses publishers that want cash up front . Oh and you can set your book price to the profit amount you want to make. E-books too!. I am working on a serious book now and I may use the same companie if I self Publish.

This is the one POD I used. I'll attach a picture of my book. Again its not a book that the masses demand, just my project grandchildren.

I wrote a book and had it published in 2011. I thought my book was a good one; but it did not sell well. I cannot blame Xulon Press for this, however. I admit that I did so at first. In retrospect, I have been forced to face the fact that my book did not sell for other reasons that are unrelated to Xulon. I am unknown. My name is not Max Lucado. Xulon did everything they said they would do. They made a trailer and a press release. They email blasted the my book and its synopsis; and they featured it in book shows. Again, I blamed Xulon, but in fairness, I cannot fairly criticize them. They did exactly as they said they would do. I don't know what the secret to book sales is. I just know that it helps sell your book if your name is recognizable.
