Yahoo! review: don't trust them! 201

I am a Yahoo customer in Rolling Meadows, IL. I also teach music, so when I was trying to find a DSL co., Yahoo's promise to provide unlimited free downloads of music for a year was the proverbial "too good to be true". What they didn't bother to tell me (and I had already told them I had a Mac), was that it's not compatible with a Mac. I have found it impossible to get ANY feedback regarding this problem - either in terms of reduced rates or an itunes gift card - SOMETHING. Instead, I have not even been able to speak to someone, email (their customer service window only allows for specific complaints), or even get an address to mail my complaint to. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM. The service has been ok, but they do NOT come through on their promos.

I rec'd a mail saying i had won a prize money of Five hundred thousand, Great Britain Pound Sterlings(£500,000.00) for the month of OCTOBER 2007 Lottery promotion which is organized by YAHOO/MSN LOTTERY INC & WINDOWS LIVE. Later i was asked to deposit money into the account of a person for frontier couriers. I am copying the relevant part below. Luckily i wisened up and searched the net to know more. I hope this mail helps others to avoid such scams.

Yoir email sytem is very poor. You ned to do something with it.. It's a good thing it's not my regular email. It's an alternative email.. Otherwisw noone would get any emails from me.
You've said in the past that you were goint to look into it. Evidently you didn't.

Yahoo has taken the liberty of sticking an instant messaging chat room into our e-mails, which we didn't ask for. The chat room can't be turned off, nor can it be deactivated using Yahoo's "Mail Options". We would all appreciate Yahoo contacting us in the future to ask us if we really want these stupid features!

I have had a personal domain with Yahoo for over 4 years for email and until today with no problems. For some reason it became flaky this morning and has basically stopped working. Four "chats" with support have yielded nothing other than to refer me to their "blog" which has nothing (other than some marketing drivel) about this problem. I suppose that some would be glad to have no problems with such a service for so many years when you stop getting possibly critical messages. I sure hope their new CEO hears about this. If they don't want me as a (small) customer say so and I'll find another provider.

I was looking for a place to moan and found this site (thanks for having it ) so go for it guys...spread this around...I would do more if I only knew where to do it.

If you register a domain with you Yahoo! be prepared for sticker shock when the renewal date arrives. They will charge you $35 to renew the domain which is almost 4x what the going rate is. They will NOT give you a refund and make it almost impossible to transfer your domain over to another service such as GoDaddy. I have been on hold for 10 minutes trying to talk to someone. Stay away from these guys. Their company is having a lot of trouble and their customer service is completely in the dumps.

I saw a charge on my bank statement for $35 billed by Yahoo for a domain that I purchased from another service! The domain is "housed" at GoDaddy and has been for a couple years. In researching the issue with a Yahoo CS representative, I found out that Yahoo had billed me about $300 over the past two years. We are busy and dont scrutinize our bank statements as closely as we should as we never saw these.

I talked to Yahoo and their response, besides being completely bogus, was a complicated explanation that seemed designed to confuse the issue and get them off-the-hook. The manager that the issue was escalated to, said that my card must have been compromised and that the fraudsters had done this to test my card info. That makes no sense. So a person gets my card info and uses it to renew a domain at Yahoo. This is so stupid I cannot even believe that she offered it up as an explanation. First, the domains purchased were bought (originally by us) with a credit card not our bank debit card. They are business domains and decently obscure. Further, in reviewing our statements there did not seem to be any other fraudulent charges.

She refunded the $35 that started this entire investigation and said, "It was a billing error." Then when I complain about the other charges it is fraud. So which is it? I said I wanted to escalate this further and she said, "You can't." I laughed and said that I could sue Yahoo in small claims court. She said that since I said I am going to sue them she had to terminate the call.

Yahoo seems to be dying and desperate. I will pursue this and get my $300 or at least cost them $3, 000. I would stay away from them.

A few weeks back a storm came blew out power on our phone so for four days we didn't have service now that my bill comes it doesn't show were they didn't deducted any charges from my phone bill . I love this company, but why should I pay for service I wasn't using in this economy I can't afford to over pay! Thank You Steve N.

First month i bought
Boggle a word game
and second month
i bought
Scrabble
I thought that i need to pay only if i buy. I didnt buy anything after that.
But i noticed in my credit card bill that i have been billed as subscription. I have not bought anything and i am being billed for it as subscription. The website is not clear.
iT is obvious that the wordings make one believe that you are buying and paying for one game or two games.
ONe also believes that like in all offline models of purchase, if you dont buy - you dont pay.

Yahoo suddenly wants me to "upgrade" its service to me or else Yahoo states that it will discontinue my email address. I have Yahoo Classic and they want me to sign up for the new Yahoo whatever they call it.

As I was communicating with them on this issue by email they kept cutting me off! I had to re-log over 12 times to finish a sentence.

This is all new to me...AS I their insistance that if I have a complaint I nmust use a specific form they have. I cannot access the for since they have programmed their robot to cut me off.

So I am losing my email addtress!

Worse yet, yahoo asked me for back-up emails they could reach me at. I gave them these email addresses aAND NOW THEY SAY I AUTHORIZED THEM TO "TAKE OVER" THESE ACCOUNTS!

These people are thieves.

Does someone have a phone number I can call? Is it the F.C.C. ?

I just discovered this ripoff too! I thought I was buying one game for $6.50. Then I got an email saying it was per month for 11 months. When I went to their site to cancel, there is a $76 charge to cancel! I WILL cancel my visa if that is what it takes to get out from the strangle hold these scammers think they have.

In addition, there is no phone number to call and no contact information other than a solicitation for business. Actually, my monthly charge is $7.51. I just went back and re-read the game registration and nowhere does it state it is a monthly fee.

I registered a domain name with yahoo two years ago and never used it. The renewal on the name came up yesterday, which I found oit becaue i noticed the 35.00 charge on my bank account. I immediately canceled the account and called yahoo. They informed me that they could not refund the money for the year's service even though it was just one day into it.
They said there was "nothing they could do" for me.
I will never ever register a domain name with them.

I have attempted to make contact with Yahoo.com to ascertain WHY e-mails from my ISP will NOT be received by my correspondent WITH a Yahoo.com domain.

In the course of trying to locate a "touch point, " via the Internet, it became quickly apparent that Yahoo really does NOT WANT to deal with PEOPLE

I also bore the expense of several phone calls to Yahoo hq., but all were failures. Couldn't even get them to acknowledge their new CEO's existence.

Thus, is it to be considered that Yahoo is going the way of AOL, Henry J. Kaiser, Chrysler Corp., Crosley, American Motors ? ALL these have one thing in common-------FAILURE TO LISTEN TO THE AMERICAN PUBLIC! Yahoo doesn't HAVE to listen; just doesn't have to exist, either.

They increase their domain price to $34 without giving any advance notice. SUCKKKKKK! Don't be a victim of their low price for the first year. They will kill you the next year with the increase price without notice in advance. They don't want to refund the money also when I call within 1 month period that they renew without my knowledge.
