Dear ZRS Management,
I am reaching out to formally request assistance in terminating my lease due to a domestic violence situation. I have been a resident at Watterscape Apartments and have communicated with Jordyn, the assistant manager, regarding the abuse I have experienced. Jordyn witnessed visible signs of abuse, including a busted lip, and has seen documented communications about my situation. Despite providing this evidence and documented notes from my licensed therapist, I was informed by regional management that I need a formal protection order to be released from the lease.
The abuse occurred most recently in early September, while I was residing at this property. I provided documentation to support this. The response I received suggested that because both myself and my abuser are listed on the lease, it does not qualify me for release despite my documented concerns for safety. According to the domestic violence addendum in your policy, I believe my situation should qualify for lease termination.
Since October 6, I have moved out of the apartment due to safety concerns, following an incident that required me to call the police. Additionally, the police recently reviewed the therapist’s notes and advised me to file a report for the September incident, which I have now done.
I am asking ZRS Management to honor the domestic violence protections outlined in your policies and grant me immediate release from the lease. I hope that ZRS Management will prioritize resident safety and consider the documented evidence I have already provided, as well as the extreme emotional toll this has taken on me.
Thank you for your attention to this serious matter. I look forward to your prompt response.
