Customer service, lack of support, no reasonable adjustments for disabled users.
We have a domain with 123-reg, we offer support to carers and disabled. We have two email addresses. The account was set up over 10 years ago. Usually access on phone rather than PC. Tried to pay invoice via phone as usual not allowed to. Called C/S told I could pay via phone but account was now closed need to pay via control panel, couldn't due to closure...

I have had to autorenew year after year as 123-reg make it simply impossible to close your account or cancel your services. They switch a feature on - without your permission "on your behalf" to "protect your domain" and this is called DOP. This feature does not allow you to switch off auto-renew year after year. When you follow their links to close your account, they are all dead links and they take you to page with no actionable items or way to close your account. This is set up to perpetuate payment unecessarily, it is so well developed to dupe a customer that it is essentially fraudulant as the claim of following their links or method to closing your account is false.
I am trying to close my account desperately as I have not needed two of these accounts since 2021, and I have not used them since. Their contact us page results in nothing. Their "raise a ticket" process results in nothing. I really need help to have my accounts closed immediately. I am filing this complaint on October 16th 2022 at 19:11 (UK time) after trying for days to reach 123-reg.
Desired outcome: I really need help to have my accounts closed immediately, and to have the auto-renew permanently switched off.

Raised an issue via chat on Tuesday, no reply. Raised again thursday via phone and asked to speak to manager. Called again friday, ticket raised, told manager will call monday. No call, so all called at 16:50 - told someone will get back to me in a day or 2. Not good enough. I need a call back asap.
I have a package which gives me 10, 000 email addresses - i use 210. Apparently you no longer offer this but i have this until September and i accidentally bought the package twice last year, which u refused to refund and said the package would run for an additional year - you refused to refund so i am in contract with you until sept 2021. All documented in support. The add email address feature is not working - i have staff needing to work from home, your inability to provide this is going to force me to make vulnerable staff members redundant.

I never ever actioned this shown on the copied and pasted invoice. i rarely receive emails from 123 - if they were managing something dead part of that management would be to alert those who are on record, even if it was an email of condolence. all you have done is silently contrived to manage a corpse. the bank details were cancelled at least two years ago too - i contacted 123 and they were to inform me when domains were up for renewal.
They have recently sent me a 'thanks for your order' for a renewal - and took the money out again!
Vicarage antiques.co.uk this is a dormant domain main name and has never ever been set up as a website. i have not actioned any of this!
This is theft by stealth and i will be reporting this to other relevant authorities - police and financial ombudsman. i have dealt extensively with both these agencies.

For the 2nd time 123-reg have let me down badly.
I wanted to change the name servers of one of my domains over the long bank holiday weekend. I used their admin interface (which is a usability nightmare when you have more than one domain and is buggy to boot) to change to the default 123-reg name servers and all seemed to work.
24hrs later when nothing had happened I looked at the admin page to find that the changes had in fact not been made at all. I tried again using a different admin page only to see an error message.
No telephone support available over the long weekend so thats that opportunity lost to safely change my domain settings.
So on Tuesday morning I write a ticket to 123-reg explaining the issues I had with their interface over the weekend. A few minutes later I get a response saying "I tried the interface and it worked for me". In horror and disbelief I go to check the name server setting of my domain and yes the 'helpful' 123-reg agent has changed my domains name servers without even asking me if I wanted to do it. In the process all the domain records I had set-up have been wiped of course just to complete the cluster F!
I hurriedly changed the name server records back but who knows if my domain will go down at some point over the next 24-48hrs.
I phoned 123-reg and was offered a feeble "whoops... sorry" and that is it.
If your domain matters to you avoid these people, they have not got a clue.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
webhosting is terrible
I recently set up a website and chose to use 123 Reg as the hosts. After paying in full for 12 months, I enjoyed a whole 17 days before their servers stopped functioning properly. When I eventually found my way areound the website they have designed to make it virtually impossible to contact anyone - I chose the cancel my service option to get a phone number actually answered by a human - I was told I am not entitled to a refund for cancelling my service because the two week money back period had expired! They tell me it could be upto two weeks before their engineers have resolved the server problems, but can't promise! Avoid like the plague if you value your sanity!
