I purchased two batteries from AC Direct on 18 April 2023, order number #99210
On the 2nd May they advised me they were unable to meet the promised delivery and did I want to wait or obtain a refund. As I was about to depart overseas for 3 months, I requested a refund for one battery and obtained the other battery elsewhere. On the 4th May they confirmed the refund would be processed.
On the 18th June, in response to a follow up that no refund had been received, they responded: "I have informed the financial department to hurry the process along".
On the 23rd June they advised "We would like to inform you that your refund is in the final stages of authorisation, thereafter your payment will be done within the following two to three working days"
On the 4 July they said: "Please note that your refund will be paid today and I will send you the POP as soon as its been paid."
On the 6 July I notified them: "Still nothing. It is outrageous that you break promise after promise. If not paid within 24 hours I shall initiate legal steps to recover this long overdue refund - with all costs + interest claimed from you"
As no further response was received, I initiated legal proceedings on the 17th July. AC Direct paid the refund within 24 hours.
On 19 November 2023, I wrote a review of AC Direct on HelloPeter. The next day they responded that I was being unfair and had not given given them a "fair chance" to respond! They even asked me to change my review.
Their behaviour is outrageous and unethical to delay, delay, delay and only finally respond when faced with a demand from my lawyer. And then to insult to injury by (promptly) requesting I retract my HelloPeter review.
Extensive email correspondence is available to substantiate all these statements.
Claimed loss: Refund of Legal fees and Interest on delayed refund . See documents attached
