Still in Pain
Went in for some fillings and the doctor lady was very friendly but did terrible work. She realigned one of my teeth, actually moved it, and nicked it and rubbed some filler on it while she was filling the other one. The tooth she filled had and has a line thru it where the filling started and stopped. It didn't hurt until she "fixed" it. Then, it continued to hurt. They told me I could come back to the office so she could fix the pain. My feeling was that if she caused the pain, going back was a mistake. I have since gone to another dentist for my other teeth. I am going to have him fix this one. It's been a few years. The most senstive tooth ever, and ugly. I thought a root canal and chip repair was going to be a simple fix, but here I am, about 3 or 4 years later, and every day since that point, I could and can feel my tooth. You're not supposed to feel a tooth like this. She would constantly talk about how there wasn't enough help, etc. When another patient came to the office and was loud and supposedly paid in full with cash and had lots of work to be done, she left me and everything to go work on her. She was rushed and under stress and I think having her husband make the sign say Alfordable that looked like Affordable from a distance was not right. Because, they were not affordable, and they left me in pain for many years. She should have fixed it right from the beginning, but if you can get someone to come back, it's more money in your pocket. Oh well, she wasn't as bad as Wendell Family Dental of Vancouver Washington. That's another story.

I remember the days when it was only money grubbing cheating mechanics that I heard stories about. I went in to have a very small chip (1 to 2 mm) in a front tooth fixed with a tooth colored filling and after waiting three, yes three hours, she told me that a filling won't work because it is a front tooth and the tooth would need a cap. I tried to explain to her that I had the filling for three years and it was fine until I slammed it into a metal bar during a sports incident, and she rudely interrupted me and said loudly "you are wrong"! "It is impossible to fix a tooth in the front of the mouth by adding (which I thought she said edding because her accent is very strong) filling material. "The only way to fix is with a crown". Immediately I knew she was full of BS and trying to make extra money off of an unnecessary and very expensive procedure. At that point I didn't even bother arguing with her as I stood up, pulled off the bib and said as curtly and politely as I could muster without cussing her out for being so rude, thank you and walked straight out. I can only imagine what the charge would have been... Run, don't walk away from this cheating charlatan.
I went in to get a tooth pulled. It did not hurt very much, but it was time to have it removed. While having the tooth extracted, it really hurt. I have had teeth extracted before and it never hurt like that! I asked for more numbing medication and she argued that it was pressure, not pain. I've had extractions before. This was pain. The medication was either not working or she had not administered enough. I've also had good dentists take out difficult teeth in alternative ways to alleviate the pressure. She did not try other measures. I had made a noise due to the shot, and she told me not to make noise "this is not giving birth" she said". She sees the xray and says "i'm sure the root will break off". Why scare your patient? What is the point? I yelled due to the pain of her pulling the tooth. She stopped and told me it was not pain. She tried again. I yelled again. It was indeed pain. She refused more numbing meds and told me I needed to go someplace else in the middle of the procedure, with the tooth's roots exposed, subject to far more pain than when I'd walked in the door... just because she couldn't pull a tooth properly. She told me she refused to do it and she would give me the number to a good oral surgeon. I told her I could feel my tooth was half out. I had to BEG her to finish the job. Literally Beg her. She finally did it and afterwards gave me a lecture on how I did not listen and if I'd listened about it only being pressure, then it wouldn't have hurt. She was rude and callous since I walked in the door. The visit was supposed to be a simple extraction turned into paperwork they weren't aware was not updated and an xray for a tooth they were obviously going to extract anyway for extra money in the pocket. In the end, she gave me a prescription for an antibiotic and slammed it down and said "If all my patients were like you I'd be deaf!" and stormed off. I could not imagine other occupational experts being okay to just do their jobs half way and refuse to do the rest for whatever reason. Can you imagine someone fixing your car only half way? Only ringing up half your groceries? Perming only half your hair? But this also would leave the patient in ungodly amounts of pain with exposed roots. If she doesn't like noise, she should either advertise "for mute's only" or offer sleep sedation. She really needs to find a new occupation. I'm thinking she could take up housewife or janitor or something that would satisfy her hideous beside manner and extremely poor attitude and her extreme lack of care for her patient's well being. I'm sure she would be unhappy being sent out into the rain to hope to find someplace to remove the rest of a tooth or contemplate self mutilation. She should lose her license. This was blatantly ethically wrong. She is not fit to practice. If this happened to you or your relative or your wife or your daughter... what would you think? Consider this when considering Alfordable Dental in Vancouver Washington. True story. This stuff can't be made up.
DISAGREE!
well i don't know why you didn't give it some more time... they are very nice and easy to work with... i'd try again.. give them another chance... every one messes up sometimes and everyone needs a second chance. they would make it good. they are very easy to work with and do good work! other dentists make it difficult when it doesn't need to be... alfordable is so simple and friendly ! and yes, i know about wendell. been there done that and heard so many bad stories about wendell! if only the wendell patients knew about how good alfordable is they would all change dentists! :)
