Firestorm construction was called out cuz I needed a new shower pan on an upstairs bathroom
Firestorm construction was called out cuz I needed a new shower pan on an upstairs bathroom. Firestorm said there was a lotta damage. They worked with the Alliance Environmental group. If I called them I wouldn't have to do nothin', they worked directly with insurance companies and would take care of everything. The restoration company came and covered 2 bathrooms top to bottom in plastic. No one could go in. After they took off the plastic, I found out they messed up a brand new bathtub. It was less than 7 months old. They said they could re-glaze it, but I wanted a new tub. This tub is cast iron and re-glazing don't last well. They said no. I sent 'em an estimate from a Plummer they asked for to replace the tub, but they said no. This company dropped heavy stuff and messed up a brand new tub and they should make it right.
Alliance didn't insulate part of the attic and they say they usually don't do that, but they still charged us for it
Alliance didn't insulate part of the attic and they say they usually don't do that, but they still charged us for it. We hired Alliance because the contractor who was fixing the smoke damage at our house after the Camp Fire recommended them. They gave us an estimate before starting the job, which we agreed to, and they completed the work. We weren't living in the house at the time, but we did go there to do a walk-through with them. Unfortunately, we didn't go up into the attic to check the insulation work, which was a mistake on our part. After a few months, I went up into the attic to check our heating system and noticed that a 40 square foot area, which has a platform for technicians to stand on, wasn't insulated. I did some research online and talked to a local contractor who told me that insulation should be put in first before building the platform. I went back up into the attic to check the area under the platform and didn't see any insulation. I immediately contacted Alliance on December 31st, via email. Since it was the holidays, I didn't expect a response right away, so I waited until January 6th and emailed them again because I hadn't heard back. They told me that the manager I was trying to reach was no longer with the company and my message was forwarded to the new manager, ***. He reached out to me on January 9th and left a voicemail, but I couldn't reach him when I tried to call back. Then, on January 10th, a lady from the office emailed me to ask about my availability for the following week so they could come and do an inspection. I didn't hear from anyone until the second week of February when they finally showed up for the inspection. The person who came for the inspection also seemed surprised that they hadn't insulated the area under the platform. He took some pictures and left, but then I didn't hear from anyone. On March 25th, well over a month after the inspection, I emailed *** again to check on the status, and she said she would check and get back to me. With COVID restrictions in place, I decided to give them some space and wait for them to get back to me, but I didn't hear anything. On May 4th, I wrote to *** again to ask for an update, and finally on May 6th, *** wrote back and said, "We don't install insulation on platforms." I responded right away and said, "The job was quoted to include the platform area, so you're saying we were charged for an area that your team wasn't going to work on? If that's the case, I would like a refund for that area so I can move on instead of going back and forth with your team for months." But once again, I didn't hear anything back, so I followed up on May 11th. On May 12th, *** responded and said, "Sorry for any confusion, but like I mentioned, we don't install on platforms, and that small area wasn't included in our scope." I replied the same day and said, "As you can see, the quote was for 2354 square feet. Can you break down this space for me? Based on that number, it doesn't seem like your team excluded the platform area like you're saying." But I didn't get a response from *** about what the 2354 square feet included. So on May 20th, I sent him another message saying, "I'm making one last attempt to find a resolution to our situation. I've attached the work order that I received before the work started. As you can see, the quote and what we paid is for 2354 square feet. I emailed you last week asking if you could send me a breakdown of how your team came up with this square footage since you're saying the 40 plus square feet that isn't insulated isn't included in the estimate. Our home is 1530 square feet, our garage is 480 square feet, and our shop is 300 square feet, which adds up to 2310 square feet." Now it's June 23rd, and I still haven't heard anything from *** or anyone else at Alliance.
