Almay review: Almay length & lift mascara

I have used Almay for many years without any problems. This is the first time I have an issue. I always change my mascara every 3 months. When I do I purchase another one to have it ready for my next use.
I find with this particular product, it's thick and sticky without much mascara coming onto my lashes. What is going on?
I do not have the receipt to return it since it's 3 months old and very frustrated. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
