We went back and forth and picked a total of 6 choices. None were available and the email link to make new choices did not work. This back and forth communication has gone on for weeks adding up their delay in responding. Today I called and asked for our $50 deposit back. They said they would send a check in 2-3 weeks. I hope they do. Tired of wasting my time.

This company is a scam, In fact the founder Jere Thompson
previously ran another company he started into the ground,
Caprock Communications.

This company lies, and unable to help in times of crises.
Asked for a 2 day extension, and was told “the computer does
it and there is nothing I can do for you, sorry”. I paid off all
but $40.00 of a 390.00 electric bill and was still disconnected
for nonpayment. Yeah, that’s right, disconnected for $40.00.
They then wanted the $40 + $90 for disconnect, reconnect. They
suck, and have no idea how they should treat there customers.

Jere screwed his customer, and employees at Caprock.
Seems like he is up to his same old tricks.

I would say these posting that are negative are probably disgruntled employees or investors in the incumbent electric companies. I had no problem getting my vacation. It seems hardly a scan or a pyramid with all the write-ups in the magazines and considering it is one of the fastest growing companies in American history.

I don't know what you all are talking about. I had some back-and-forth picking travel dates that were available, but once that was settled, my vacation couldn't have gone more smoothly! I went to Niagara Falls for three days and the hotel was completely free. There was no timeshare presentation involved or even mentioned.

Ambit Getaway website never saves the vacation planning form, i have been trying to save since a month. Even called customer support but of no help. I had no problem with their website when it was accepting the payment of $70. Now i am feeling like its a scam.
I dont have an issue with Ambit energy, but the Grand Incentives company which looks like a scam.

Ambit's travel company scammed me out of $70. The travel date are ALWAYS UNAVAILABLE! So they expect you to keep asking for new dates until you give up and lose your deposit. When you ask for a refund, they will say OK, your money has been refunded then "forget" to send it. No proof of conversation. No email confirmation for refunds.

I have been waiting over 2 months for my refund. SCAM

This ambit getaway is a scam. They quickly cashed my check for the deposit but were then unable to come up with my hotel rooms for the dates I selected. They never let me know and I had to call numerous times and eventually had to cancel my trip because they would not get back to me. Finally a week before my vacation I was told after I called that the three dates I chose were not available and I would have to resubmit and go through the whole process again. It is a waste of money, time, and is a huge frustration. Now I am told it will take 6 weeks to get my refund.

I went to an Ambit Energy presentation here in New York. When the person giving the presentation could not or would not give me their cost of KwH for any past time period so I could compare it to the KwH though my current provider National Grid the presentation/recruitment meeting was over for me. When I got home I compared my brother in laws bill, who has Ambit to mine (National grid). He was saving .00037 cents per KwH. I used 630 KwH for the corresponding time period for a Ambit would saved me a whooping 23 cents. Now, to get my brother in-law to the 1% guarantee by Ambit was not really on the electricity provided, but overwhelmingly due to the avoidance of a local tax. In short he saved 1.02% on his electric bill due mostly to the local tax avoidance. Further, I reviewed his annual savings statement from Ambit. It listed his annual savings as 9.57%. Now here is the kicker. The 9.57% savings were based on Con Edison rates which are the highest in NYS, he has National Grid. From a purely customer point of view this company is using deceptive tactics and further siphoning off money from the local tax base to meet its energy savings guarantees.

Ambit Energy Holdings Horrible Customer Service

I've had AmbitEnergy for 7 months now and on the Lone Star Gold 1 Year Term. I've always paid my bill on time and never had a problem with receiving my bill at my previous address. I moved to my new address and transferred my service as well the end of July 2008. In the last 2 months that I have moved to my new address I have not received a bill at all or any mail from Ambit Energy. One day my Electricity was turned off with my child in the house mid SUMMER I called but first was on hold for an hour and 15 minutes to let them know that I never received a Bill but they said they sent it and never got the return mail. So I paid the bill the same day as soon as I knew that it was turned off with an extra 60 dollar reconnect few and also the electricity was not turned back on till the next day. We tried to resolve the mail issue and asked for a manager to contact us back but that never happened. Lack of employees in Customer Service and not at all satisfied with the Customer Service.

Next Month the same exact thing happened which was September 2008. This time on hold for 2 hours and there is no sarcasm when I say 2 hours. I again ask to speak to a manager before I pay my bill and there is no one available again to speak to and I don't feel that it's right that I have to pay the 60 extra a month for the reconnection fee when I'm not receiving my mail for Ambit so that I'm aware of my bill and can pay my bill. The Customer service Agent tells me that I need to check with my Post Office. I tell her that I recieve my bills from all other utilities but Ambit. So being on hold trying to One not have to pay the extra 60 dollar reconnect for the second month in a Row due to this but secondly figure out what the problem is with the mail and get it resolved. So Frustrated with all of this I finally pay the bill and ask them again to have a Supervisor call me due to the lack of Customer Service and Knowledge to a solution. I got to my Post Office and they verify everything is okay with my address and Carrier and that something could be wrong with the bar code on the envelope. So I call Ambit Energy back first thing in the Morning around 830 to try to catch them early without a long hold and still surprisingly on hold for 45 minutes. I tell a Gentlemen the situation and ask to speak to a Supervisor but Customer Service has another department answering Calls because Customer Service is so behind and backed up. So I ask him to send a letter out to my address by hand and also have a Supervisor call me. I finally receive my first bill that I have received from Ambit Energy this week but still have not a return call from the Supervisor. Come to also find out they have changed my discounted rate Plan which is .1194 per kwh to .1990 per kwh because of the disconnections. You wouldn't believe how much more I'm paying because of all of this.

I found a number for the Corporate office in Dallas and contacted James P. to let them know what had been going on and I'm trying to resolve this matter at hand and have them also settle this higher rate Ambit has changed my Plan to and the two extra 60 dollar charges that I've paid when my electricity had been turned off due to not receiving my mail. He said there was nothing really that he could do but he know the person in the Billing and Mail and would have that person contact me to get that resolved and I would have to call Customer Service about the Change of my Rate Plan. I have now been on hold for coming up to an hour now and wish I could just get some help or a phone call from a Supervisor to settle this entire mess.

I am a commercial broker and I donot side with anyone RETAIL ELECTRIC PROVIDER all the companies do is PROVIDE ELECTRICITY AT RETAIL RATE. Your service or TDSP transmission distribution service provider such as ONCOR, TNMP, CENTERPOINT, AEP etc they all own the poles and wires and meters...these people read your meter do power outages and makes sure that the energy you buy per kwh from TXU, RELIANT, AMBIT etc gets from point A to point B which is your house. No AMBIT cannot cut off your energy they do request your TDSP to do so if you donot pay your bill. Its the same with any company. On residential rates there should only be one inclusive charge not several apart from perhaps a meter or account fee which varies 5-10 dollars. What you donot see is that part of your 9 to 11 cents per kwh goes to your TDSP and the other portion goes to your REP such as AMBIT. In commercial accounts however you do have a kwh per hour which is the price you pay for energy you use. Then there is a KW or demand charge or pass-through or tdsp charge which is the portion that goes to your TDSP owner of your poles and wires depending where you live. This can vary but this cost can be high regardless if you use any electricity or not and has nothing to do with TXU, RELIANT, AMBIT, etc...you will see this fee every month before you even use a single drop of energy. Most ppl donot know how to read their bill or understand it thought it is fairly easy. I JUST STARTED marketing for AMBIT and so far have not had any problems and have signed up many family and friends. They are not perfect but by far seem to be better than all the other companies out there. I can help anyone with any REP should you need help my services are free of charge.

I am sorry that all of you have such negative things to say about Ambit. I am not only a customer for 2.5 years but I am a consultant too. First of all...Ambit is not in control of your electricity getting cut off. For instance, I use Con Edison as my provider. Despite the fact that Ambit is my energy provider Con Edison still comes to read my meter and is responsibile for shutting off my service. NOT AMBIT! When I review my bill it comes in two parts. The first part is from Con Ed and they bill me a certain amount and then Ambit is the second part and they bill me a certain amount. For the most part, Con Ed's amount is more than Ambit's amount. Why? I do not know... I believe a lot of it has to do with the fact that they have so much to repair and they want us the customer to pay for that. Ambit goes up with the stock market... what I mean by this is that if the rate of oil/gas is up so is your energy bill unfortunately. I have seen this time and time again. The 3 day 2 day trip I have to admit I have done and the best part was the presentation they had us on. But you have to read what Grand Incentives put in the small writing. I also participate in the referral program. This has allowed Ambit to send me checks for my energy portion of my bill. Is it 100.00 and more. No! But it is the amount that they usually bill me and this helps a lot. Once again... I apologize for all of your horrible experiences. I stand by Ambit Energy 1000% and this company is a great one.

Hmmm...So when did Leaving Your Legacy Photography receive permission to verbally abuse Mark? He's not the only one who has had good service.

I understand that there are LOTS of problems due to the # of negative reviews I have read. It's not Mark's fault. If I were on the other end of the line with Your Legacy Photography, I would suddenly have a mysterious disconnect.

Oh, and, I have decided not to switch to Ambit. Bulk of the reviews I have read make Reliant Energy look great!

I think you’re the employee here. If so many people have issues then I think your one puny opinion doesn’t matter. Its simple the rates are nice but AMBIT does not hold them selves accountable for anything. This company tries to pass the buck when you take a stand from the disorganization of the company.

They shut off my service, and when I called they had NO IDEA why it was shut off!
So Mark you tell me when you go 5 days without service because of a company not knowing what the hell they are doing how happy are you?

When they tell you one thing and do another we have issues.
When they tell you something and do not notate the account we have issues.
When they hang up on you because they don’t know the answer to your question we have issues.
When they cut of your electricity without warning we have issues.
When they can get to your house to shut it off but don’t have time to reconnect we have issues.
When you pay through their system yet your account doesn’t reflect it yes we have issues.

And this is a customer so take your stuff elsewhere!

Right on. Ambit has absolutely NO customer service. 1 day late and you get a disconnect notice. 10 days late, electricity is turned off. And they don't even give you any courtesy call like all the other companies. I waited on the phone for over 2 hours to try and set up a payment plan after my rates doubled after the first month. Their draw is the multi-level hook. You are a broker for a brokerage firm. All I want is fair rates with some customer service. Best thing to do if you are scammed by Ambit is to change companies as fast as you can.

I have had nothing but great service from Ambit Energy. Sometimes I think employees of other electric companies post these complaints just to bring down the new guys. Why? I'm greatful for the price I pay, and the customer service has been ok.

The longest I have been on hold with them was for 3 hours and I hung up! Better yet try waiting 2 1/2 hours just for them to hang up on me..

I tried to switch to another company but Ambits rates happen to be the cheapest.. Do we pay for discent customer service? or get lower rates and put up with all this bs?!?!?!

I am having very similar problems! They bumped my rate up due to disconnects also. Even if the disconnect is legitimate, why would a company think that raising someones rate when they are already having trouble paying bills is going to HELP the customer be on time?!

Ambit Energy Holdings not reading meters and using higher rate

we recently fixed duct work in attic to lower our electric bill, to our surprise we get the bill and it is higher, higher rates and more usage till we read our meter and found out that we our alot lower now than when they read, they estimated our bill and charged us a higher rate than what they advertise as thier going rate! do not trust them they choose when to estimate your bill at the highest rate possible to borrow your money! bad company, bad for Americans!

It seems to be a legitimate company so far. I saved $30 on my bill and am not giving more money to Coned- how could I lose? I will keep you posted.

Ambit Energy is a great opportunity for people looking save on their energy cost and at the same time help others save on their energy costs. Currently Ambit is the #1 Top earning company as per INC 500 Magazine. Do I need to say any more?

We just made a major announcement of expanding markets and we are now able to offer the same savings opportunity to small businesses in TX.

I can go on and on about how great Ambit Energy is. Three thumbs up .. oops sorry I only have two thumbs. :)

Your retail electric company doesn't read the meter - your delivery service does (Centerpoint, AEP, ENcor, etc) - this makes no sense! Even TXU doesn't read their own meters - sorry you have been misinformed.

Ambit Energy Holdings They're incompetent

I switched to Ambit Energy to save money on my electric bill and to make money promoting it as it is offered through multi level marketing.

I put my residence and numerous investment homes on Ambit plus a boat load of friends and relatives. It cost $350 to become a rep and 1 year later I have not been paid a dime.

Rates jumped 12.9 to 16.9, they cut off my service at home because the pymt was credited (repeatedly) to the wrong account. Food ruined, children were stuck in the cold, pets couldn't be attended to. Their admitted error, so I turned elect. Back on myself. I then was fined for meter tampering? They refuse to reimburse. Me, my friends and family have all dropped Ambit.

According to your post, "It cost $350 to become a rep and 1 year later I have not been paid a dime."

I have two questions:

1.What exactly did you do in that 1 year with your business that you didn't get paid a dime?

2. When do you pay $350 to become a Rep?

There has been no such fee close to $350 for many years...

So what is the truth?

I live in Whitehouse Tx, and Everytime it rains or high winds our power goes off. And this is rediculous. Encore needs to do better than what they are doing. I am very unhappy ☹️ with this situation. This is becoming a huge problem!

First of all it doesn t cost $350 to become a rep and second of all if you are a crappy rep look in the mirror because all the other consultants that actually work the business do get paid every month! Month after month after month! :)
Not to mention all the FREE energy checks we get!

I've had Ambit energy in New York State for over a year now, and have never had a problem with them. I save, on average, about 25% on the supply side of both my gas, and electric bills. I'm not really sure what the original poster is even talking about either. There is no "switching" involved with Ambit energy. You still go through your regular energy providers. In NY, it happens to be national grid, and national fuel for gas and electric (respectively). If I have a problem with my electricity, I still call national grid. If I have a problem with the gas, I still call national fuel. So my guess is that the original poster, and many of the other posters on here are actually the same person that work for a competing company, and are trying to give Ambit a bad name.

I've had Ambit service for 7 months, just renewed my contract from 6 months to 1 year, my bills are lower that before, no complaint at all, some of my family chage already and they are happy also.

The complaints listed here smell of a smear campaign. I've had Ambit service for over a year and the only thing that has changed is the size of my bill: Its much smaller. I went from paying 18 cents with Reliant to 9 cents with Ambit. That's a 50% savings and Ambit only claims "up to 30%" in Texas. I was impressed enough after two months to become a consultant. I regularly have customers call me and thank me for telling them about Ambit. I put my reputation on the line every time I refer a friend or relative to Ambit, and they have never let me down.

FIEST OF ALL I HAVE TO JUST SAY THAT AMBIT HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE 2006. I HAVE HAD THEIR SERVICE SINCE AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. THE CONSULTANTS THAT WORK FOR AMBIT ENERGY ARE PERSONALLY THERE TO HELP RESOLVE ISSUES SO THAT CUSTOMERS CAN AVOID LONG WAIT TIMES! I HAVE MADE MORE THAN $175, 000 WITH AMBIT AND THEY ARE A GOOD COMPANY. THERE ISM NO WAY THEY OVER CHARGE CUSTOMERS AND STILL ARE ABLE TO BE THE FASTEST GROWING COMPANY IN TEXAS. THERE RATES ARE FIXED AND THERE SERVICE IS AWESOME! I PERSONALLY HAVE MORE THAN 30 CUSTOMERS AND NOT ONE HAS COMPLAINED ABOUT THEIR BILL! In New York all of the Ambit customers that I have talked to have NO complaints, as a matter of fact everyone is happy with the service and can't wait to take advantage of the travel rewards. Maybe now that Ambit is not so new they have worked out all the kinks. There is no risk to try Ambit!
