Ambit Energy Holdings Disconnection

Ambit Energy turned off my electricity to my business in the middle of a business day after I tried several times to pay my bill. I had to pay $900 extra dollars in addition to the normal balance due in order to get service restored. They even pulled up on their screens that I showed that I had attempted several times to pay. Ambit stated that I they were not familiar with my account number. The representative stated that I should have registered my account to have online access, but I have been with the company for six months and never registered and never had a problem with payments by phone or online. They also didn't recognize my social security number. I was told that it must have been a computer glitch every time I attempted to access my account online or on the computer to pay. This company cares nothing about its customers at all.

If you have a business account with them they do not charge disconnect or reconnect fees. If your having a problem with your payment method try using a different method. You cannot blame the company because you did not pay your bill in time. Maybe next time don't wait until the power is out to pay the bill?

I paid my bill and even after I paid my bill...my electricity was disconnected 5 days later..the next month I received my bill and there was a second set of disconnection and connection fee even though they never disconnected the service...they claim just because I was late they sent a disconnection letter and even if it doesn't happen they can charge me for those fees...they refuse to refund the fees..I spoke with Oncor and they have on their records that there was no disconnection and they did not charge the fee to Ambit..they still went ahead and charged to me...a total rip off company

Ambit Energy Holdings rip-off

I am a new ambit energy customer and hadn’t had a problem with them until last month. I recently had a baby in Oct.2011, so I had to quit my job, and a month later my boyfriend changed his job also. We were managing fine, until Dec. came around. With the holidays here and everything else, we were on a budget. I called an agency they told me about, that helps low income families pay their electrical bills. One week before my Dec. bill was due I was approved and the agency sends ambit a pledge for $72.05, I called Ambit two days before the bill was due to let them know about the pledge and that the payment might be late, they said it was ok. Then when I received my Jan. bill I noticed that I owed $171.33 for Dec. and Jan. but before I could call the agency or even make a payment my services were interrupted, without a disconnection notice. We went to the agency right away and they told me that the pledge had been sent, but did not know why it hadn’t been posted. They called Ambit and refax the pledge, and then asked me to make a $66.00 payment to ambit, for my service to get reconnected. I called Ambit after I made the payment and was told that it would take 24hrs for the pledge to show on their system so that they couldn’t send a reconnect order until then. The next day I get a lease violation at the apartments where I live, for having my electricity disconnected. A week after that incident I received a disconnect ion notice telling me that I had to make a $99.28 payment or I would get disconnected. I made the payment right away, and then I received my Feb. bill days later for $342.24. I called ambit and they told me the bill hadn’t been updated yet, but that I still have to pay $170.42, and they could not waive the disconnect and reconnect charges. I asked them that if I change companies would I get my $200.00 deposit back, and they said no, not if you break the contract. I honestly think this company is a rip-off; they don’t acknowledge their mistakes and blame their customers.

I agree totally,
I too ran into an issue with ambit cooperating with a late payment. If anything, they really need to look into following up on situations like these and see if they can come up with something a little more compassionate and lenient towards low income people struggling.

I agreed with Cely...Ambit has very poor customer service...My service was disconnected 5 days after I paid my bills ..then I got my next bill and it stated that I have until the 2nd to make my payment..A second set of disconnection and connection fee where charged to my account..I spoke with Oncor and no one suppose to come to my house..my service was never disrupted but the fees were charged...Ambit is charging for services thta did not provide...it's just a rip off company...Customer service means nothing to them...

I am deeply sorry for your experience. As a customer and a consultant with Ambit Energy, might I clarify a few things? As I deeply sorry for your losses during this time, however, the electric accounts are controlled by computer now, not manual touch. This means that if your payments came in after the time of the computer shut off time, they would not post and it would appear the account needed to disconnected. I am not saying it was right however, everyone needs to understand the system.

Ambit Energy is not a rip-off or scam, as they have been recognized as the number one fastest growing privately held company in America for 2010 and 2011. They truly to seek to be the finest and most respected energy provider in America. It is unfortunate that you have experienced something of this magnitude with my company. However, if there is a way I can make it right, please let me know.

Ambit Energy Holdings Horrible Treatment of customers

This company had my electric payment 6 days prior to shutting my service off. I have been a customer for almost 4 years, all of a sudden I had no electricity and they wanted a deposit. Seriously...

I have exactly the same situation..and the next month the charged me a second set of fees for connection and disconnection even when my service was never shutt off

whatever they did with you that's not nice . Because there gol to Payless money if you don't have enough so how you pay . The have to continue your service because you are there old customer . My concern for ambit they have to give minimum 5 month time to make payment as like conedison and not over charg the customer

Ambit Energy has one of the lousiest customer service departments I have every expreienced. Ambit Energy improperly overbilled us. When calling in to speak with a customer service agent (the first time) to resolve the issue; I was placed on hold for more than 45 minutes. When a person finally did anshwer, I was told I was at the wrong department. When I reached the right department (5 minutes later), the service representative told me she could not resolve my issue and was told "that a supervisor will call you back." (As of this writing, I have not heard from anyone from Ambit Energy)

We had no problem for the last 3 years, we had been paying bills every month. This June we went out of country for a month. And they couldn't do an auto payment which we were on for a year. They've never send us any email or mail concerning not receiving payment through auto payment. And now we are out of electricity. They usually send me an email every month, but after not recieving the payment they closed all account, even email, thats what the lady told us. There was one phone call, now think of it, it probably was from them. But very incoherent, didn't understand a word. We have given them alternative cell phone #, which they didn't even bother to call. Very poor customer service and they do not care... Sorry we took this company...

Ambit Energy Holdings payment scam

Ambit energy is a scam, I made a payment of $85 saturday on the automatic system and I have been charged $8500. The system asked me to enter in dollars and cents. I entered 85.00 the system did not ask me to confirm the amount entered and did not repeat the amount I entered. As soon as I entered the amount the system said thank you your payment of $8500 have been approve. I call them immediately they said it was a mistake and the money will be back in my bank account monday. Today is tuesday the money is not there and the bank charged me overdraft fees. I called them they said it will take 5 more business day to have the money back in my account. And they also ask me to make another payment or my electricity will be disconnected. How I'm gonna make a payment if all the money in my account is gone? I don't event have money to eat. They also said they won't pay for the over draft fees and said that I entered the amount in the system. I have been a customer for 4 years and alway paid with the automated system, and I know when something is wrong with the system. What can I do?

I was slammed by Entrust Energy shortly after renewing my contract with Ambit. I was told by Ambit after paying the termination fee that I could not get it back, it would be applied to further invoices as per the energy agreement I signed. After speaking with the PUC, Ambit called me the next day assuring me the money would be returned.

Don't get mad, take action; report there butts to the PUC, enough complaints and the PUC will fine them! Maybe they'll get the message after they write a few checks to the PUC.

definitely something may have been wrong while you were making the payment online. this doesn't mean they are scam. scam has another meaning. it is impossible for a company who holds an A grade with BBB each year consecutively, licensed by the states public commission, to be fraudulent or scam. but truly something went wrong and they acknowledged that when they talked to you. I doubt that you ended up with an $8500 bill and I can bet that the money was credited back to your account. in situations like this, you should talk to your bank branch manager and they would understand the situation and refund you all the overdraft fees. they've done it for me several times.

Ambit Energy Holdings false accusations

My complaint is that this website is a complete joke.making accusaations about Ambit Energy that just are not true...This company is NOT a scam or pyramid...it is true LEGITIMATE company that delivers what they promise to both their customers and consultants...upon researching this company extensively..I have found that 99percent of the negative bullcrap on the internet were either written by other companies competing with Ambit or consultants who did absolutely nothing and want to blame everyone else..research much further and you will find that it is one of the best..if not the best honest income earner in the country...it is very sad that some people feel the need to use the internet as sounding board for false statements and trashing..based on their own failures as a person...a pyramid is illegal...and Ambit energy is NOT a pyramid...how could they become fully licensed in the states they are in if they were? The stupidity of these people is unreal..and lacks research on their part...very sad that others have to read these lies and some actually believe them...Ambit Energy is a LEGAL rock solid company that forgoes advertising and thus using personal networking to extend their service..it is a great opportunity for anyone...lazy people with big mouths it is not for...nor will these same people ever have anything else in life...I felt compelled to write this and hope that anyone reviewing Ambit Energy overlooks the negative and continues to research the positives...they abound...

The reason that a lot of customer complaints arose, is that in Texas, Ambit was both the supplier and deliverer, and they had to build their billing and service departments from scratch. This led to a lot of mistakes on their part but they have improved. Regardless, if you are in NY or another state where Ambit only handles the supply, this is not a concern.

if this is true about your research you should research the heads of this company you would see that three out of the four top people were involved in pyramid schemes that failed within the last ten years just saying

The problem with sites like these exist soley in the fact that a company can not please everyone. If you read this, and only this, you would think that the company is from the 3rd realm of hell and the owner was the devil himself! Want to know the truth? Go to the Public Utilities Commission Website for your state. Any and all complaints that a customer has against a company that are legitimate are posted there as well as what the company did to fix the problem. Websites like these do not give you both sides of the story. It is soley for the purpose of allowing people to complain about something that was more than likely thier fault in the first place. I agree with kk143. We should be able to post some positive things about a company for no other reason than we can post something negative as well. I am an ambit energy consultant and I love this company. They have better rates than any of the competitors and a marketing fashion that allows each of us to make our own way with our own sweat. If you have a complaint about the company keep in mind that not everyone is satisfied with the business. As a customer, I don't know of many that are satisfied unless they have a rep at thier house 24/7 to meet thier needs. I am available 24/7 to my customers. I don't make them call into customer service. I three way call into customer service with them to make sure that all of thier needs are met! If your problem is with your consultant, find a new one! If your problem is with the company, find a new one! There are many out there that can meet your needs at a higher price if you so choose.

A good product sells itself. It doesn't need you to defend it. Why are you so hostile towards a site that airs people's complaints about this program. The fact that you are getting on here and ranting about this site being a joke tells me that you serve to loose out on something. I see sites like this as giving the opportunity for people to share their experiences with this program. You search the web for Ambit and Scam, and ambit has taken that used it as another opportunity to lure people in. I bet they hire internet cleaning companies to remove the "dirty laundry" of the company because it is hard to find these sites that really show the truth. Ambit is a scam, in my eyes.

Ambit Energy Holdings scam

I built a very fast and very impressive organization in less than 16 weeks with over 370 consultants and over 1500 services. I was terminated when they were curious how I developed such a large organization in such a short time. On a Friday I opened up my virtual office and saw a T for termination next to my name. I got in an airplane and arrived at their office and their compliance department was empty with not one person to talk to. I told them I would not leave until I spoke to someone and a person from compliance showed up after a 3 hour wait and told me he was going to try to find an available office or he would speak to me in the lobby of this run down building with dirty and damaged wooden floors with brick walls with no paint. They had several old desks and the office was empty with 2 ladies that told me to wait downstairs for someone.
After this conversation with this individual they removed the T and told me to go home and not to worry, 2 weeks later they terminated me again saying that I had done grave violations of policies and their decision was now final. They owe me a lot of money and closed down my organization that I had build with a great effort. Their reason was that I had violated policy for slamming customers. I have no idea what that is and no one has been able to explain what is that term and when did I do this slamming thing they are saying. I now realize that the company is a multilevel SCAM because the man that spoke to me told me that Ambit looses money on individuals that create large organizations in a short time because that indicates that they pay out much more in bonuses than they take in the enrolment. I have no other explanation and besides they owe me money and when I inquire about this money they tell me the accounting software has problems and they will pay me when they correct it and much more is that I never received the start up kit with the policies and procedures. I recieved a diploma with some elses name on it and they lai that they have an application sigend by me when I was enrolled by phone.
This is a MULTILEVEL SCAM I would recommend any and all that look for this company to join DON'T ...it is all a fake front which has cost me much revenue and hard work.
I have contracted the top firm in the country and I will involve them in large legal lawsuit so this company cannot proceed in this fashion with anyone else. Their lack of awareness on which they are dealing with goes to show you that they are operating with their eyes close. I will not allow them to continue to do this type of behavior and destroy other individual’s hard work. TAKE MY ADVICE DO NOT JOIN THIS COMPANY as you can see they are not reliable with payments or proceed in good faith. Dr. Carlos Garcia-Carranza

Hi miss "amibtsux" Can you please show me a list of awards Madeoff got? By the way, Ambit hit a billion dollars last year. They also won 3 JD Power awards for customer satisfaction this year. Sorry to inform you, but Ambit is not a scam. And the ones who don't make any money are the ones that just quit after not trying or doing it correctly...or in Carlos case here, tried to scam the company himself.
I just uploaded a pic on here. It shows Ambit at a billion dollars in just 7 years. Ebay did it in 7 also, they must be a scam too. Facebook and Apple did it in 6.

Hey @ambitsux Can you please list a couple of so called "awards" Madeoff got? This list was not a popularity contest, it's based off numbers in revenue. The only way to get more revenue is to have more customers joining. The way you type you sound like you're 12, I don't even know why I'm responding to you.

This company is a scam, In fact the founder Jere Thompson
previously ran another company he started into the ground,
Caprock Communications.

This company lies, and unable to help in times of crises.
Asked for a 2 day extension, and was told “the computer does
it and there is nothing I can do for you, sorry”. I paid off all
but $40.00 of a 390.00 electric bill and was still disconnected
for nonpayment. Yeah, that’s right, disconnected for $40.00.
They then wanted the $40 + $90 for disconnect, reconnect. They
suck, and have no idea how they should treat there customers.

Jere screwed his customer, and employees at Caprock.
Seems like he is up to his same old tricks.

It is very strange to me that Ambit energy is the fastes growing company in the country. Keeps getting approved in more states every month by the state commossions, has thousands and thousands of satisfied customers, and people get on here and call it a scam . Rates change al the time no matter what company your with. Ambit in TX locks you into a lower rate and in NY you are always lower than the BIg CO. that have been ripping people off for years.
From our experience we have 40 very happy customers with ambit and would never do business with another co.

If this company was so bad and everyone hated it, then how did they get so far ahead? Carlos Garcia-Carranza is the biggest scam artist around... he did stole a whole down-line and their production by enrolling them as new associates. Those numbers he mentioned is just an exaggeration, and was Ambit who summon him to their headquarter in Texas.

I have recently been "hit up" as an "ambit energy consultant" lead last week - met a nice guy at the gym and he raved about Ambit to me. Said I would "look into it on my spare time". Well, it's been about two weeks and now I've had time today. Before I "jump" into anything I ALWAYS RESEARCH IT - ESPECIALLY ANY NEW BUSINESS DEAL! Well, this is probably the 20th internet page I have read from top to bottom and I have found approx 90% of ALL RESPONSES to be NEGATIVE and "not" positive. This concerns me. How can you market a product or service with a black eye for customer service in the eye of the consumer? That ship is destined to sink eventually and won't be able to sail forever. That is how I think Ambit will go like so many others before it. NO, I have not joined the company, but I have researched it with REAL testimonials from REAL people too. Now, I always "discount" certain posts citing them to be "disgruntled ex-employees" or customers who don't pay their bill. But, for a new company I have to admit...the plethora of negative comments is OVERWHELMING and has reached saturation status! Needless to say I was going to "meet" with my ambit rep (his sales pitch) and have since cancelled the appointment. This is not worth my time and the hassle and the worry of so many negative things associated with this company is too much headache for me. I believe very few people ever "get rich quick", you actually "get rich slow" over time. To be candid, I also do not like being a "family pest" and trying to sign up friends, family and co-workers for any product or service and never wanted to be "one of those guys...a busybody...a brainwashed schmuck..." So, I wish all the ambit people very well indeed and hope they make millions (yes, they can have "my money" LOL...) and I will be happy to make what I can and get ahead my way, just like the Frank Sinatra song...!

Sales clones do not disclose the sneaky fine print $199.00 early termination fee. They are taught to use the deceptive phrase "you can quit and switch back at any time" . The term "consultant" is also deceptive since they are single source corporate slaves offering only canned hype like "cagray" above. No mention what happens after 2 months. Sales leader offer hype is inappropriate for utilities, and they could get run out of the State. Warned of those caveats, the company could be a big benefit for groups who join together and get referrals benefits for years to come. Cautiously Optimistic. The CPUC Public Utilities Commission is in charge in CA. Get honest or get out of town!

I think one has to be intellectually honest with themselves. Energy is a commodity and changes everyday, consumers usage change everyday and so can we agree that their bills will change monthly.

I am writing to prove without a doubt that Ambit is to good to be true.

They were mentioned as teh fastest growing company in the United States doing 325 Million in less then 3 years
They have a A Rating on the Better Business Bureau
They are a part of DSA.org
They are mentioned in the Dallas Business Journal 11/2009 as the Top Place to work
They Guarantee Savings, give the consumer the ability to earn free supply and reward people for being loyal with
a travel reward program.

I can not believe that I went to Cap Code and Rhode Island in the last 3 years. I can not believe our kids did have a great time as they experience American History at the John Adams Fort and Played Miniature golf.

Need I say more...People will believe what they want to believe for fear of failure and excuses for themselves not to experience life.

Ambit Energy Holdings Monthly Double Charge on bill

I became a customer of Ambit as a favor to a friend that got into this company (can't for the life of me figure out why). I've been there for 2 billing cycles and both months they tried to double charge me. They tell me that the BANK refused payment because the address was wrong, it was not their fault. last month I walked into the bank to check this because it didn't make sense. ALL other bills I pay go through just fine. The bank showed me on the computer screen the address they had. Today I am paying bills again ... ALL my bills go through without a problem until I call AMBIT. Same dance as last month, the rep wants to argue with me that it is my banks fault. I told him it was fruitless to argue because I know it's not. He wants to argue anyway. I call back and ask for a Supv, they won't let me speak to one. I was also informed that I have a shut-off date for next week if I don't get my bill paid. They have the full amount of my bill "pending" at my bank though. I HATE THIS COMPANY! Thank God I'm only stuck with this mess for 4 more months. Save yourself the headache, RUN FROM THEM! I put this on my Facebook and I'll post it every where I can to warn people.

Ambit Energy Holdings service

From when I purchased service to my residence their was lack of
communication between representatives and the consumer.

The consumer called to stated hours were being cutt from jobsite
had stated to rep. that the last bill would be paid in full on the0513/10.
The rep. replied they could not make any arrangements. I was very

dissappointed. I belive it is unfair for the consumer not to have any
options.

Not happy with the service. For future reference will not referanyone
for that matter.

i payed my bill at pls checking on the 01 oj june lights was do to be tuned off on the 02 of june called the co. to give my rf nbr.id nbr stateding it was payed. lights was turn off on the 4th jun because it could not be seen in their the system and i was charged 57.00 to get the lights turn back on the c.s.agent were not helpfull the special word they all use is i am sorry, and yes i fine the whole dept. is sorry

Financial Freedom can simply be achieved by eliminateing your regular monthly expenses!

I was fortunate to find a company that i have been involved in now for two years, i was able to eliminate my monthly mortgage payment, bmw note and light bill. There were things that i was not able to do before because i had no time, i had to work overtime at work to keep up with my monthly bills. Well i know that statment sounds redundant but most people can relate to it. For me i was working on a job every day that required me to put in more time and effort and barely pay out all of my monthly expenses. On top of that i felt like a slave to my job, in essense the job was owning me not the other way around. I knew it was time for a major change. I would say that the biggest effect the Ambit opportunity has allowed me is the ability to go back to my job every morning more by want than need. I don't think that there is anything wrong with haveing a job, but i do think that you ought to be able to wake up every morning with the ball in your court. See all financial freedom is the ability to make choices that will not effect you financially. It meant takeing back ownership of my life. (More time) That is what financial freedom is to me. I am not hear to sell anyone on the Ambit opportunity but i wanted to tell my story and let people know that you can be a becan of light in other peoples life simply by shareing your life experiences. I GOT A BILL FOR $307.00 FOR A APARTMENT I RENTED. HOW EVER I DID NOT EVEN LIVE IN IT UNTIL A MO. LATER. NOTHING WAS ON! AND NO ONE LIVED IN THE APARTMENT. EVEN THE APARTMENT MANAGER TALKED TO THEM I STILL HAD TO PAY IT OR THEY WERE GOING TO SHUT THE POWER OFF! I WISH I HAD NEVER SIGNED A CONTRACT WITH THEM BUT I WILL SAY THIS IT WILL BE THE LAST CONTRACT I WILL EVER SIGN WITH THEM. THEY ARE THE BIGGEST RIP OFF. If you're not stupid you could deal with it yourself. Section 8 housing and everything that comes with it makes people able to get away with things like that. Social Darwanism at its peak... just go ahead and start shooting up if you haven't already. We can't all be smart, otherwise we'd be living in Soviet Russia, which, as some of us know (not the ones that voted for Obama) doesn't work. Thanks!

Ambit Energy Holdings Ambit is a rip off

Where do I begin? I have only had Ambit Energy since October 2008. I REGRET signing up for a contract on July 3, 2009. I had a bill due on July 10th. I was in the middle of moving, and I do admit I did not pay it. HOWEVER, I NEVER RECEIVED A DISCONNECTION NOTICE. I DID receive 2 more bills. One showing a due date of July 31 and another showing August 10th. I know once was final bill from previous address. So, when I got my bill showing due July 31, I thought ok, it shows past due balance, new total balance, and due date. NOTHING ABOUT DISCONNECTION CHARGES, DISCONNECTION OR ANYTHING TO THAT NATURE. So, I wanted to find out what the full amount was that I owed so I could send a check. So on Tuesday, July 28th, I called them on my lunch break. Out of my 30 minute lunch break, I spent about 15 minutes ON HOLD listening to the recording asking if I was calling to establish new service to press another number and if not the call would go to the next available customer service rep. The next rep NEVER answered. When I came home, SURPRISE NO POWER.I called Ambit Energy and was on hold AGAIN from 5:33pm -5:46 and the line was disconnected. I called AGAIN and was on hold for another 10 minutes before a rep, Garron answered. He said it was due to bill not paid. I explained the bill problem and that I had called that afternoon with no answer. I was told I would have to pay almost 300 to get reconnected., my past due plus fees. And that power would be connected in the next 24 hours. I told the rep I was a single mom and had NO WHERE to go. He said they send a disconnection notice. I told him, they may have sent it but I did not get it. He said they also called but admitted if it goes to voce mail they do NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE. I told him a call doesn’t mean jack if they do not leave a message. I work during the day and cannot answer my cell phone. I told him I’ll make the payment since I don‘t have a choice and move on. I had already asked for a supervisor, but he told me there were no supervisors. After I made the payment and got a confirmation #, I told him I find it is odd that a call center does not have a supervisor there, then all the sudden, he offered to get one for me. I spoke with a “so called supervisor” named Fred. He gave me the same spill and said “If you had called us earlier in the day, we could have had your power turned back on today.” I had to remind him again, I HAD called and was on hold for 15 minutes with no answer. He said they sometimes experience high call volumes. Well, I wonder why! I told him I work at a call center myself and 20 minute hold time before anyone ever answers is UNACCEPTABLE. He didn’t seem to care that the customer service sucked! He told me and I QUOTE “We will send the reconnection to Encore as a priority. All of our reconnections are sent as priority.” I called Encore about an hour later to follow up on the order. I spoke to a supervisor named Stephanie, and she told me AMBIT DOES NOT send reconnections as standard and the only way to get a priority order is by paying another $98 fee! FRED, the SUPERVISOR never even mentioned that as an option, but did say ALL RECONNECTIONS were sent as priority. SHE told me it can be anywhere from 8am-midngiht. MORE THAN 24 HOURS, as stated by Ambit. So, my son and I spent most of our night outside and driving around. We came back home to sleep in a hot upstairs apartment. (not a good night for either of us to sleep in, but had no money for hotel or anywhere to go). The power finally came back on at 8:29am. Thank God I had taken the day off for something. THIS IS NOT OVER. I called On Wednesday to get the balance left and due date. The rep told me it was STILL due on July 31, 3 days later for Another $200. I told her I can’t pay it. She said “We will send a disconnection notice on Aug 1 and you will have 10 more days to pay.” I told her, “ No I am calling you now and telling you ahead of time, I cannot pay it by then since I just paid almost 300 last night!” She repeated herself and I told her again, I can’t pay it. After I got mad about it, she finally said “We can make payment arrangements for 60% of the bill PLUS A 20 FEE ! (ANOTHER AMBIT FEE, and TO HELP YOU). I told her I had already filled a complaint with BBB and hung up. But WAIT, IT’S STILL NOT OVER…..As a single mom, I just paid $300, and have 200 more due in 3 days later, PLUS another 110 due on August 10th, I contacted SEVERAL community resource companies to get help with the bill (one of which helped me with TXU before). NONE of these community resource places would deal with AMBIT Energy. I told her I don’t blame them. I had signed a contract on July 3rd. When I signed up for that contract for a year to get cheaper rates, it said if you end your contract before the renewal date, one year later, they would charge a FEE of $199. That contract gave me 11 cents per kilowatt! I just checked it on line today, and AMBIT put me back on the month to month Ambit standard plan for 17 cents a kilowatt ! So that sucks, that now they are charging me EVEN MORE and you are not allowed to change your plan until the next billing cycle. HOWEVER, now that I am not on the contract, I WILL GO BACK TO TXU OR ANYONE ELSE once I get money for another deposit. I will NEVER AGAIN SUPORT AMBIT ENERGY AND you shouldn’t either. I am a single mom and needed to save the money. But when the power gets turned off or you need help from Ambit, they don’t give a rats a**. I had TXU for years and was ALWAYS able to make arrangements, and they didn’t charge me a stupid fee!, With TXU, my power had only been turned off once with TXU. Not even one year with Ambit and it has been turned off TWICE. TXU offers the option to pay a priority fee and I had my power was back on within 3 hours with them!
I may be paying more pre kilowatt, but it is worth it to get electricity, great customer service, not lied to and flat ripped off!
That’s all I got to say about Ambit. DON’T LET THE MONEY SAVING FOOL YOU. This GREAT DEAL is only on the outside, once you get in, they SUCK!

lets go - wow, your post makes me want to deal with Ambit even more so I can be both overcharged AND verbally abused. Our country is terrible shape because of greedy people like you who are looking for "passive income." All I can say is that you will have some serious karma coming back at you.

I am a customer of Ambit Energy and I didn't have to sign a contract. I can cancel anytime I want. As a matter of fact, as soon as Con Ed was aware that I had switched to Ambit they called me and offered me a two-year contract. They promised a lower rate, but I didn't go with them because Ambit had not asked me to sign a contract and I feel I'm free to go wherever I wish.

If you are truly interested in Ambit energy, please do your home work. I am an Ambit Consultant. I've been to the meetings and training. They do not promise you millions and they do tell you what you put into it is what you get out of it. I've read a lot of complaints about Ambit and found that if people would just do their homework they would know that Ambit is a legitimate company. First of all if you paid your bills you woudnt have that problem.
Why would you expect anybody to give you something if you dont pay the bill?
I have never had my electric or gas shut off . and would be embarresd to say so if i did.
From reading your letter it looks like this is a common thing for you.
You are just trying to blame someone else for your ignorance.
They owe you nothing . No free reconnect etc, etc .
people like you are the reason our country is in the shape it is in.
I work hard and pay taxes so someone like you can go to some social service organaization to get them to pay for your power .
I am sick and tiered of flipping the bill for people like you.

Guys its not Ambits fault. The utility company reads the meters not Ambit. And they bill you depending on what the utility company says you used. So please stop making statements about things that you have no knowledge of.

I can relate. I rented a apartment, and I did not move in untill a mo. later and my electric bill was $307.00 and there was nothing on in the apartment. No TV, LIGHTS, absolutly nothing on. We were not even in the apartment! We had to pay the bill or they were going to shut it off! I have never been so mad. The apartment complex even talked to Ambit and told them no one was there! They did not care! I wish I would have gone with another company that's for sure!

Ambit Energy Holdings Average Billing Scam

I bought a home a year ago and signed up for Ambit Energy for my new home through a friend consultant. I got a rate of 10.94 cents/kWh which is a very good deal. However, just this month, I reached the 13 month after my 1 year contract and I received a bill over $620. My highest bill in the last 12 months was $164.79 and my average usage in the last 12 months was 890 kWh. So I called customer service and I found out that I was on the average billing plan. I pulled out my contract and saw that there was no mention in there that I had enrolled in such a plan. The representative said that the plan helps me during the summer months when electricity is expected to be high. But how does the plan help any consumer in their right mind if they have to pay for a bill that's over $450 more than their highest bill in the past 12 months at the end of the 12 month term. No one would have budgeted for it.

I think this plan is a scam to mislead people to initially believe that they're saving money, but in the end have to pay it all back. More upsetting is that they do not tell their customers they have signed up for this plan verbally or written.

Stay away from Ambit and save yourself trouble. You can go to powertochoose.org to see their complaint rating (I should have done that a long time ago).

Most retail electric providers will place you on their least desirable plan if your contract expires you do not renew or at least take a look at what variable plan you are on.

Ambit sends both an email notice and a hardcopy letter about 2 weeks before an agreement period ends to advise customers of their options, which is more than most of the other providers do. I have found numerous customers on other providers who did not know that they had been paying 17-18 center per hour because their agreement had expired 6 months ago and "no one told me."

You can also see when your plan expires on every bill and in your online customer inrerface. You can clearly see this by looking at my personal Abmit bill from October 2009 at

Renewing for another 1 year term a week before that one expired likely would have resulted in an even better rate for another 12 months, it does pay to pay attention.

Ambit Energy Holdings over charges

Ambit energy entices customers with low per killowatt usage fees and then gradually increases your monthly usage charges by "estimating" usage. With every monthy estimate the charges go up, in effect creating a new and higher usage average. What a scam. then in September when Hurricane Ike hit the city of Galveston they continued billing at the "estimated" monthly rate when all power was off (and still is) I have never had a higher electric bill in 8 years at the same residence as I have with Ambit. The increase is almost triple in 1 year. When I called and tried to resolve the overage charges I received approximately 40 dollar off a $400 billing! How can I have racked up $400 worth of usage with absolutely NO POWER ON? I am filing a complaint with the Public Utitliy Commission.

Ambit Energy states that they will provide you with a very good rate but will change it (doubled it in my case) the following month after your service is activated. They will also put you in an Average Billing catagory so when you finally get smart enough to leave them you will get a LARGE BILL with your overage charged to you! This is not a very ethical company and they show no remorse for their 'grey' business practices. I thought TXU was bad but Ambit has just raised the stakes!

"At least Ambit will take the time to notify you when your fixed rate is ending." Well, not really. They didn't inform me before they tripled my bill. "Most of the ones complaining are the ones who jump from company to company trying to avoid paying their bills." Wrong again - I was with the same energy company for 19+ years before a friend convinced me to sign into Ambit. Stop making generalized statements and judging people you don't know - it makes the company look petty and small, and I wouldn't want to be associated with such an organization.

You explained your positive very well! I concur, most of the time, in regards to complaints, they were misinformed and or hyped! Shame on any rep using hype to influence people to sign up! They might get a customer that way, but in the long run, you will create an enemy. Buyers remorse is the worst feeling of all! Before anyone signs up with any service, you must read the small print, understand what you are getting into clearly. Don't make excuses or blame anyone else for your ignorance or negligence! Get informed, be an informed consumer! I'm discovering so many people are unwilling to accept responsibility for there own choices or decisions. That's sad!

I personally believe that Ambit Energy is a GREAT company and offers the consumer a great and VERY competitive energy rate. I have been an Ambit Energy customer for almost three (3) years now and have been a Marketing Consultant since November of 2009. I must say that Ambit is really Great.

All Ambit Consultants should get involved and work the training programs, and then MOST IMPORTANTLY should be TOTALLY HONEST with their customers from the minute that they begin finding their customers. I have formed many great friendships through my Ambit customers, and continually check up on them to make sure that they are happy with their service. My Ambit customers know that they can contact me at any time when they have a question or concern. As a marketing consultant, I ALWAYS recommend that my customers choose a one year or two year "FIXED" rate energy plan. It is also true that Ambit also notifies you when you plan is about to expire. Simply go to your customer website, and choose your new plan .

Most of the ones complaining are the ones who jump from company to company trying to avoid paying their bills. I personally know people who get their bill from company A and decide they don't want to pay it or flat out refuse to pay it so they go to company B hoping to avoid paying it. Therefore when they get that 2nd month bill, it reflects the non payment of the previous provider's bill.

Excellent choice of words. To be an informed customer. I have had several electricity co., and have been with Ambit for 3 yrs now. My bill has always been low and i consume over 3, 000 kwh a month, as with most new co., the quirts need to be worked out, I believe those who complain the loudest are those who dnt understand or who dnt pay their bills very well!

Ambit no longer (as of Septmber 2009) places month to month customers on a "Standard billing plan" following the first month. While the second month may be higher or lower it will not likely double like in the past. You will continue to receive a competative rate month after month (the same rate new customers who are signing up for the variable plan get).

If you do not like the risk of a variable plan (and most retail providers offer them) then selected a fixed rate plan and renew it when it expires. At least Ambit will take the time to notify you when your fixed rate is ending, unlike many of the other providers who let you slide onto a variable plan without sending you a notification.

Ambit Energy Holdings Extremely BAD Customer service

Do not believe the line that the rates will be lower, or that your bill will be too, and one thing that we noticed also was that your bill will come in 3 week cycles, with absolutely NO grace period. not even 1 day! And your services will be shut off! The phone lines are horrible when trying to contact customer service, unless you go through "the new customer" department. This is one of the biggest mistakes we've ever made as far as utility companies, we never should have switched! Our bill has more than doubled! DO NOT buy into Ambit!

Ambit Energy is a great opportunity for people looking save on their energy cost and at the same time help others save on their energy costs. Currently Ambit is the #1 Top earning company as per INC 500 Magazine. Do I need to say any more?

I am an Ambit consultant and could not disagree more.

I have called Ambit customer service line about 4 times in the last 2 months with various questions and have never waited more than 5 minutes for a representative.

The billing cycles are determined by the meter read dates. The meter reads are done by the delivery company, not Ambit. In my service area this in Oncor Energy and they read the meter for TXU, Reliant, Green Mountain, Bob's Energy, everyone. The only difference is who they upload the meter read numbers to for billing. That is why all customers have a 2.00 and something cent read fee on the bill. This is what Oncor charges the retail providers for the meter reading services.

The current Ambit policy allows for one late payment every 6 months prior to any sort of disconnection action. There is also a partial payment plan available to customers who are in need of more time to pay.

You are sooooo right about Ambit. With today's economy crisis people everywhere are asking for some type of relief or repayment plans just to make sure they can keep lights on, a roof over there head, gas in their cars and food on the table. Ambit energy is HORRIBLE about working with you to get the bill satisfied. Worse mistake I ever made.
