Hello. I'm writing because I'm trying to get power turned on in my name, but for some reason or another, cant. See, I filed out the form for new service online, and it said that I needed to pay a deposit and I had a past due balance that had to paid as well. Well, on Friday March 25, I called to make the payment to have the power turned on, and the lady on...

We moved into our house in 2021 power bill was always around $300 a year later power bill over doubled for no reason for a few months in a row all around $800 called the power company and the insist that we are using more power and the check the meters. My wife works from home and no one has ever been up there to check the meter. Power bill dropped after the call for a few months then now its spiked over $1000 this month for. We have had and electrician come out who can't find any reason. we also had the heating company come out to look at the heating and cooling system, we have a geothermal heating system with a built in hot water generator. So minimal electricity is used and they can't find any reason why the electricity bill should be that high. We have spent money and time investigating the cause and it all points back to the AEP.
Desired outcome: I would like a response and the electricity bill to be where it should be.

Electric service
December bill tripled. I live alone, work during the day, no one is home, and nothing is running. I have a fireplace and have not even ran my heat pump much. There is no way my power bill should be almost $600. I pay my bill on time every month but cannot afford a bill that high. There is no logical reason my reading would show that much usage, especially with me working 12 to 14 hour days.

Billing customer service
I recently went solar on OCT 15. I got 2 bills in the mail. The first one was for service until Oct. 12 and the second bill was for an estimate of over 3x the amount. When I called to see why I got 2 bills I was told by Monique on Oct 30 that both we incorrect and I would receive a new bill for service until Oct 15 that I should pay. I waited until Nov 9...

In review of monthly billing I wanted to enroll in average monthly payment plan.
Unbeknownst to me AEP billing website states I’m enrolled with a TPA for electric services.
I’ve never enrolled with any other company outside of AEP!
When calling customer service the hild times are over 15 mins and working during day through early evening I’m unable to take time to wait and have a response.
I’m a healthcare professional and unable to wait in call center queue to have response. I’m beyond annoyed to see my billing has been changed without my permission.
Desired outcome: Amend and correct my billing. ASAP

Electricity
Why did v I get a $250,00 electric bill, it use to be a few months ago about $145.00, I have cut back as much as humanly possible on use, tv cut by two thirds, turned off freezer and side by side refrigerator freezers onlt 1 energy efficent light bult in all ceiling lights and lamps, minime use of electric range and ovem, micro-wave, basicly at night only single little bulb night lights on, the temps have been low so minimum a/c use, all this and I still get a $250.00 electric bill! This can't be possible... What is going on are the rates rising that high and that fast, I feel like a victim here rather than a consumer and customer, do I have to file with the p.U. C. And f.T. C, or have my attorneys file a civil suil suit to get any action! Or file congressioal complaint with senators brown and vancem an congressman gibbs, justice under the law
Desired outcome: REASONABLE RATES AND INVESTIGATION INTO WHAT IS HAPPENING
Electric
I have lived in the same residence with the same AEP electric account for over four years. My payment has never been late as I use autopay every month. I don't have a problem with my bill or fees.
But I'm concerned with how easy it was for this issue that came up. I received a letter that my electric was going to be shut off and I called the company to resolve. In doing so, I was informed that someone else must have used my address to open an account. I live in a college housing area so it's very understandable, as a next door group of college students just moved in and most likely turned on their electric but with wrong address.
I don't fault them nor AEP. But is that how easy it is for the company to kick off a long term, consistently paying client in lieu of a new account? Yes, it's inconvenient to me now because I need to set up a new account and autopay. All of this is fine. But I am concerned that no effort seems to be made to ensure that there was no error here and it easily can happen again. I hope my neighbors have electricity now.
Desired outcome: Please help me understand what is needed to open an account with AEP Electric. An address? Even when there's an existing account in place?
Their billing processes
I'm gonna let the screen shots do the talking. I'm beyond fed up with writing with no resolution or relief in site..
I'm beyond fed up of being forced to double pay! Due to their crap. I started paying through cash app cause it wasn't any delay but now out of no where it's been returned check for insufficient funds, it was a direct pull from account, withdrawn from account and my account with electric company reflected payment paid and processed out. Other times before when I had this issue, their argument was it wasn't processed just received. Even though I have a hard paper copy from a long time ago from a similar dispute, stating thank you for your payment, we had to pay it again! I have proof that it was "processed" with zero balance for days on in then all of sudden I owe the balance again! I can't afford this mess.
Desired outcome: Them to remove this amount owed, quit adjusting my annual rates during the year when it's supposed to be adjusted in Dec. And quit raising monthly amount
Mother needed help wouldn't help her due to a return check, that wasn't even in her name.
First off shame on you. My mother is 70 year old and on a fixed income, how can she pay a disconnection of 5700. Oo when she barley scrapes by on 1000.00 in benefits a month. Not to mention being a recent ky flood survivor and having to already build back what she already had. And yes fema only help her with a one time 1200 payment. Shes ask foir assistance more ways then one and for all those programs that say they will help her, well they too should be ashame. False advertising comes to mind. But to say they will help you and turn around and say your not elgible due to return check, you think that give them all the more reason to help her.
Desired outcome: HELP WITH AN ARRANGMENT. SHES DUE TO BE CUT OFF TODAY 5-9-23. SOMETHING TO HELP HER.
Service
This morning I called and the guy gave me the account number and told me the power would be on before 6pm.Today? Before 6 I called back to see if the service had been turned on, because I have medicine that has to be refrigerated and stay cold. The lady said there was a occupancy review that needed to be done. Why didnt the guy this morning say that and transfer me to whomever I needed to speak with?
Desired outcome: Service to be restored
Over charging us for electricity
I feel you are over charging every costumer for electricity. It is a same if we lived in down around Lexington our electric bill would not be much at all. You are charging us Luke three times more for electricity. People on a fixed income can not afford these very high bills. When you are in the income bracket that you are just over the limit to get help. So for the ppl that have worked and become disabled or retire can not afford there bill. We need help please do not charge so much for our electricity. You know we need it and there is no other company that we can go to.
Desired outcome: I pray you consider to lower your rates a lot so people can afford to pay each month. This is crazy yo freeze to death in winter but still gave a high rate we can’t afford these rates help okease
Complaining our electric bill are way to expensive. People in fixed income can not even get help with our bills because we make just a little over guidelines. Please consider lower our bills, so we could to pay at these rates there is no way someone on fixed income can pay these rates. No way no way No where in the USA are the electric bills are as high as these through Aep Please lower our rates
electric bill
AEP is overcharging customers an obscene amount. From November to December my bill went up from $100 to over $300! It was even higher in January. Something isn't right here and they need to be investigated. They are stealing people's money knowing that we don't have a choice because everyone has to have power. This is horrible. Part of that time I was out of town and we had heat turned way down. Please someone look into this and make them give back the money they have stolen.
Desired outcome: refund
right of way, ty r. pistelli, not negoiating before attempting to seize property
I am sending you this email in order to get your attention to a hearing that was conducted in Ripley, WV on Thursday January 19, 2023. I hope you will read the attached document which I read at the hearing. Ty R. Pistelli (Right of Way agent) and AEP council were present at this hearing. The subject of the hearing was to seize my land using Eminent Domain Laws. If this land seizure goes to trial without giving me just compensation I will give a voice to a lot of elderly landowners who let AEP seize their land illegally. This is pure elder abuse which AEP needs to correct immediately.
Your Honor:
I would like to remind the court that AEP is a for-profit company making more than $12 billion last year. This land seizure is not for public purposes it is for the enrichment of AEP.
Trying to be nice and under duress (knowing that AEP had Eminent Domain and could take my property), I signed an agreement with AEP to allow surveying on my property until 12/16/21. Here is a sample of the survey flags put on my property without my permission in the last month. They sneaked onto my property from the backside knowing that they were trespassing. If I were to trespass on their property in an attempt to place these same ribbons on their property we all know what would happen. I would like the attorney for AEP to give these survey markers back to their rightful owner.
The fifth amendment of the US constitution states “nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation”. The fifth amendment does not say take my property now and pay later. AEP has not made a good faith offer. AEP hired an appraiser who made a low ball offer to beat down the price of my property. I am asking the court to stop AEP from using Eminent Domain without providing just compensation. I am asking the court to prohibit AEP or any of its contractors access to my property until they have paid just compensation.
What would my 43 acres of land be worth after AEP subdivides it with ugly cancer causing high voltage power lines, cancer causing herbicides, and steel towers? This is also true for adjacent land to those towers and high voltage lines. AEP in their final offer wants to cut down the trees, poison the land and take possession of 7.31 acres of my property and they offered me $25,255.13. Is that just compensation?
The only thing that a landowner has on his side is time. Many of the Jackson county landowners would not have accepted AEP's offer if they were not threatened by AEP's use of Eminent Domain. Every person with a brain knows AEP cannot buy buildable property in the Fairplains area for $1900 or $4725 per acre as their appraiser and AEP have tried to do. AEP is nothing more than modern day outlaws. They have used lawyers, contractors such as (Joe Knight) and property appraiser (B. Scott Ware) to deflate the price of my land so they can steal it. AEP's pressure is obvious. I quote from their Final Offer “if we cannot resolve this matter, I will need to turn it over to our legal dept to seek to obtain the required easement under WV Eminent Domain Laws”, close quotes.
There are many unhappy landowners who have dealt with these outlaws in the past and would love to vent their frustrations with AEP. One landowner told me her husband had a heart attack and died. He cursed AEP to his grave. If this gets in front of a jury, I plan to give these people a voice. Does AEP really want to open that can of worms?
This is only a crisis because AEP created it. AEP started the Right of Way communications in January 2021. Right of Way acquisition began summer of 2021. So why did they wait until September 2022 to make their final offer? They knew they could use their old friend Eminent Domain to force landowners into submission. AEP is using an old football tactic called running out the clock. Since these power lines and towers are for a backup system there is no need to be in a hurry to seize my land. This crisis that AEP has created could be settled right here, right now. If AEP would man up and come to the bargaining table with a legitimate offer. I hope the court will hold their feet to the fire and make AEP negotiate fairly by denying them access to my property until they give me just compensation.
One of the six definitions of Elder Abuse is defined as:
financial abuse of a person 60 and older. There is no better example of elderly abuse than what AEP is doing to elder land owners of Jackson county. If this is not stopped by the courts AEP will simply move on to their next power line construction and we will have more victims of their abuse. Surely a jury will see how a large for-profit corporation has abused the elderly landowners of Jackson county. I am one of those elders and I object to the illegal use of Eminent Domain Law by AEP in order to seize my property.
Let me summarize:
1.AEP created this crisis by running out the clock .
2.This is for eternity so any enjoyment or future profits from my land are gone forever.
3.The court should deny AEP access to my land until they make a serious offer of just compensation.
I offered to sell my property to AEP and they rejected that offer. AEP does not want to own property when they can use it tax free for ever.
4. The court and Legislature should look at the use of a for-profit monopoly, like AEP's use and abuse of Eminent Domain laws.
5.Your honor, I hope AEP never comes after your property.
Desired outcome: Just compensation for the property being seized.
Product Electrical wireless net metering device
On the telephone pull outside of my home there is a device placed underneath the street light. This device seems to be connected to my home. I have not given authorization nor my consent to have this device placed outside of my home. I believe it is some type of monitoring system and it is not just randomly placed I am being targeted by your company.
Desired outcome: I would like a complete description of this device and the name of whom authorized or gave consent to be placed outside of my home. I would to have it removed as soon as possible.
your truck driver
ON Saturday Oct. 22, at approx. 9:40 a.m. and at the intersection of Rebecca lane and Ridgemont drive in Abilene, Tx, your truck #700886 was on Ridgemont drive approaching the intersection of Rebecca lane and they ran a red light and pulled directly out in from of me (I was traveling west on Rebecca Lane) and I had to slam on my brakes to keep from hitting your truck.) I had a green light, your truck had a red light and he ran a red light. Someone driving a truck that big should be a better driver than to run a red light and esp. if there is a vehicle coming that they will have to slam on their brakes to keep from hitting a truck the size of this truck. If I had hit your truck I would sue your company for big bucks, just to teach you a lesson on you should not hire bad drivers. Your safety man should have taught your employee better. I hope you fire this driver as we do not need bad drivers like your employee on the streets of Abilene, Tx running red lights. I hope you have a GPS tracker your truck #700886 so you can see how this bad driver drives your truck.
George Sweatt [protected]
Desired outcome: I hope this driver is fired for running a red light and nearly causing an accident.
Pole Replacement
July 18, 2022 a car ran off our road and ran into the pole in front of our house. AEP came the same day and put a new pole up, but did not take the old pole down. The old pole is splinting and leaning with the lines still attached and the new pole is roped to the lines. The street light is not working. We were told the day of the car accident by AEP that they would be back to fix everything. It is now September 9, 2022 and nothing has been done. We have contacted AEP multiple times about this issue, but have yet to receive a response.
Desired outcome: We would like the lines permanently transferred to the new pole, the old pole taken down and the street light functioning.
Outage and problems reporting department
I’ve been waiting over a week for a technician to come and ok a wire reroute and disconnect/reconnect. The ground is collapsing very close to my back patio, less than a foot away. A technician called me saying they have available appointments tomorrow and to just call back when I spoke to my electrician. I to make the appointment and “Jada” and her supervisor told me they can cut off the electricity today and after my electrician is finished I can call back and set another appointment to have them reconnect when they have time. I would like to have this issue fixed without having to take my kids and dogs to a hotel for several days. Also maybe retrain that department. Thank you
Service that was not mine.
I need to get power at my new residence. AEP says I have a previous bill for over $500.00 that I can not make payments on that must be paid first. The bill is at an address that I have never lived at. I have no idea how that was in my name with my information. It seems to be a trailer that is rented out or used to be. I am not in anyway affiliated or have ever been to this address.
Desired outcome: I need to be able to make deposit payments on my new address so I can have power and dispute this fraudulent bill.
Aep electric
I have been without power 4 times in the last month. Significant amounts of power outage yet my bill is over $350. I was an entire weekend in June I was without power the weekend after the 4th of July. A week later and now again today I am without power. I work hard and when I come home I would like lights and air conditioning on an 85 degree day. I am at the point I am looking at if there is legal action or contacting public service. I have tried contacting someone there and get nothing. If updates need to be made to the lines I think this needs to be done so the people living in this area aren’t without power every week. If this was your family you would expect better
Desired outcome: I would like upgrades done to the lines in the area I live and I would like my bill reflecting the times I have submitted outages
