I made two payments 06/03/20 when I called she said and verify a refund and when I called back they said they applied it to the next bill, my complaint is they could call me and find out what I wanted to do, im very upset and I really to be confiscated for my lost they dont know if I was going to pay half on the next bill or not #[protected] service at 2327 argyle dr columbus oh 43219

American Electric Power Company [AEP] Service

My chief complaint is that I feel during certain times of the year, usually holiday seasons, electric bills spike to ridiculous numbers and the reason is not the weather changes. It is because there are community groups (Non-Profit) and churches that will help pay bills for people who meet qualifications (wage criteria) during that time. I know AEP in southeastern KY is taking advantage of this fact and spiking bills to extreme amounts. It is shameful and blatant abuse. The first thing they suggest is for you to contact one of these groups (i.e. LKLP). I also think my meter readings are incorrect each month and I'm going to start proving it. Not one time have I ever seen anyone come read the meter. There is no way my average bill should be over 300 for this trailer. It is theft by manipulation and preying on the poor. I cant wait until another company comes in this area because being the only provider means they can do whatever they want.

American Electric Power Company [AEP] csr / supervisor in customer service department

I called on 5.22.19 @ 2pm CST and spoke with CSR Ryan who failed to listen effectively. I had to repeat my questions, and Ryan didn't listen well and was rambling off information not needed or requested. Ryan got upset when asked for his name. Ryan put me on hold without even acknowledging he was doing so as well as not even asking me, if I don't mind being on hold. I spoke with a supervisor named Lila who I had to repeat as well and she didn't listen effectively as well, it was like pulling teeth from a lion. Can you please have the CSR and supervisors to listen more and stop providing information not requested and rambling off, thanks.

American Electric Power Company [AEP] electric bill

This company makes it impossible for people to pay such high bills. When service is interrupted it takes 1-10 business days to restore. There is no help for consumers trying to fight the company. This is not right, someone needs to stop this. People are suffering and corporations such as aep are allowed to do whatever they want and the consumer has to accept it

American Electric Power Company [AEP] the method of determine my power usage.

I've called and asked for a service person to come out and look at our meter.
Customer service via phone call was very rude and Very Unprofessional.
All I would like is for someone to come out and look at our meter and explain how AEP works in regards of obtaining information.
I know many people have complained about a higher bill this winter. I want reassurance that everything is working properly.
We use wood and coal heat. Doesn't seem like a fridge, washer and dryer would run up the power bill so much more when we use it all the same year round.
It's my money and you provide a service and you would think AEP would like to reassure folks of their sincere efforts.

American Electric Power Company [AEP] new account startup

This company must derive pleasure from the misery of customers because I have been receiving the runaround constantly due to there being a previous account at the address that I live at along with a balance. I paid $137 for my deposit and spoke to the Occupancy Review whom stated that the minimum balance of the previous balance or the full balance would have to be paid and she would need proof of the person's new residence. AEP tells the person who owns the previous account as well as myself, since I called in to confirm, that she can make payments where it won't go to collections and I call the Occupancy office again. The same lady who's handling my account picks up and I tell her what's going on and, condescendingly she stated that it's pretty "cute" that we think we can make payments when we were told by the AEP office that we could and that she didn't need a lease when she stated she did and when we are trying to prove that the person of the previous account no longer lives here. The cute statement crossed the line and I don't see why my electricity just can't be started when I'M starting a new account and the person of the previous does NOT live here any longer. Quite frankly, its disappointing that thry handle business this way and highly irritating with how significantly cold it is in my household.

I’m dealing with the same thing! I’m renting this house from my aunt & uncle who are both having to move out of here and find places closer to where they work now because of some financial issues. Obviously I know what’s happening, but they are NOT being helpful at all in this situation! My aunt even called and told them that they’re renting the house to me and I need the utilities on. The lady with PSO went so far as to tell me that they’d left a usually high balance and hadn’t had the water on for months and go on to talk about “who lives like that”?! 1st of all, it’s not your job or place to judge anyone lady! 2nd thing is why do you think you have any right to discuss this with me?! If they want to ensure that ppl aren’t having the power turned on in someone’s name who owes them then they should be getting copies of EVERY, SINGLE lease agreement from EVERY, SINGLE customer who rents and verifying them before they take deposits!

Interesting. I'm going through the exact situation and they requested I send a 20 page personal legal document with personal information included just to prove the "previous tenant" does NOT live there anymore. I told "occupancy review agent " that they should be contacting the "previous account holder and tenant " to collect any unpaid bills through them considering my name is NOT the same as the "previous account holder and tenant!"
Needless to say, still no electricity, sent a couple documents stating a date, even sent a email that was very professional and well mannered to this "said agent" as well as paid $159.00 start service and was given mistaken information with what was needed to start service and still give extra requested information. All this being said...Still NO electricity!
I'll pray for "people" like this.

American Electric Power aka: AEP
Unless you notify AEP that you are switching from there monthly budget plan to paying only the monthly actual usage amount they will automatically charge you a late payment fee.

No where could I find in the monthly billing statement that you had to notify AEP if you switch the payment plans (budget to actual usage). If you do change to actual usage and do not notify them, you will be charged this late payment fee for every month that this continues.

I called and discussed this issue with an AEP representative. They would not budge on cancelling this unfair injustice. The conversation became a little heated with no result. I requested speaking to there supervisor, but instead she said the she would. After she talked to the Supervisor, this resulted in having the late payment fees removed.

BUT the representative threatened me by saying that from now on if you do not pay any of your payments on time as scheduled they will come back and add on the original late fees they charged me from the get go

AEP in my opinion is ripping off customers from an accounting view standpoint by not letting the customers know, that if you do change from a budget plan to an actual usage plan, you need to contact them or late fees will apply. Sad very sad!

American Electric Power Company [AEP] Paid deposit almost a month ago was denied service at the rental property

I paid 500$ to get services from aep power company I'd rented a place paid my 500$ deposit they came shut power off on myself and my children because previous tenets owed a power bill which has to be paid before I can get service and there's is over 800$ so they closed my account and refunded my deposit 500$, which that they have had almost a month now saying billmatrix is taking 7 to 10 days to put my money back on my cards debit cards but billmatrix can take my money instantly but can't give it back the same way! So now my power is off and my money tied up with billmatrix so no money to even take my children to a hotel were there's heat if not mad right I'm never using this payment options again,

when i switched electric companies from DP&L Energy to AEP Energy, i was not informed i could not sign up for budget billing, which i get from DP&L.After calling and being told i would be placed on budget billing, i received bills that were not budget.I just got off the phone with a representative from AEP, that told me if i close out existing account and reopen another account i would be allowed to have budget payments.She than came back and said i couldn't because DP&L customers, along with several more were ineligible to participate in that program.I am now stuck with this company for 18 months and feel they should disclose this to potential customers.I wouldn't have chosen them if i would have know this

Aep took my deposit money of 500$ and open new service account but then said there's a old bill from precisely rental person of 800$ and denied me services until last tenets paid there old bill, and refunded my deposit money but said that takes 30days which they have had almost that long already so is not advise anyone to use aep

Do not sign a contract with AEP Energy. They will totally mislead you with monthly savings and then hit you with fine print. A $3500 early termination fee is ridiculous. That is $150 for the remaining time on the contract. I will never sign any residential or commercial contract with AEP Energy ever again.

Also, stop trying to trick people into thinking you are actually AEP Electric. The 10 cold-calls I get a month from you asking for my Electric Bill is bad business.

My county (Richland) advised us to sign up for this low cost electricity. I found a green provider of electricty and cancelled AEP. Then then sent me a bill for $100 as the cancellation fee. Don't use them. They are too cowardly to take their chances in the private marketplace and so must guarantee their profits this way. CEO is James C. Peterson.

I paid my electric bill to AEP Electric and they use Western Union. This isn't the first time Western Union has done this to me, they need to be sued. I don’t know who is guilty but I simply want to get money back. Is AEP Electric lying that they didn’t get the money or western union lost it?

I have a 960 sq. ft. home that my 83 year old mother and I share. We went on the budget last Feb 2010. The budget started off @ $111.00 then 113.00 then 138.00 then $140.00 and today it went to $188.00.

I have lived in third world countries that had better power than I get in a suburban neighborhood near Canton. And, to add insult to injury, their rates are terrible. Yeesh!

This company continues to raise prices. They will bill costomers without approval and once the raise is denied they refund the money to all the customers. This is not right, but however legal. I lived in a trailer worked as a manager and lived on my own. I could leave my heat off for 12 hours a day and still get a bill of 2-500 dollars. THis is absolutly ridiculus to raise prices like that in the economy that we are having to day. They had enough money to go around and replace all the meter boxes. I told customer services i didnt agree with the reader and wanted a second opinion, i was refused to have a second opinion. Due to not that many power resources, i have no option but to continue to pay if want electricity.

I have a house that I rent at 1113 Green Willow,Corpus Christi,Texas.On July 11,2022 at about 1am.A tranformer blew up about 10 feet from my house.It caused my electric box to be fried.I had to repair it and caused me $2250 to repair.I need help with the repair damages.My name is Tadeo Pina jr ,my phone is [protected].Thank you.

Frequently, the electricity to my home is disrupted for no apparent reason.

The Town of Bedford Electric Department has told me the disconnects

are occurring at AEP Riverside.

The latest disruption was at 18:31 July 31, 2022.

Please fix this problem.

keep voting for corrupt Goverment and we keep getting screwed. Obama what a joke of a president. why cant he stop big companys from screwing people. Maybe hes getting some kickback in his pocket for doing nothing. Yeah hes for the people alright. people sending us these power bills. I was just told that Appalachian power has no payment plans. lol these telemarketing csr's need to know what the company can and will do. been paying 164 for 3 years and get bill today for 569.87. wtf. alot of bs charges. keep screwing the people ought to be his saying. Im so tired of seeing these linemen standing on side of road working (AEP) 1 working 8 holding cups of coffee. guess these BS charges are for thier coffee. Ill pay your damn bill with a note inside saying FY too.gets me when someone who doesnt even make 360 dollars a week cant eat or cook food cause all his money goes for power. not food or anything else but power. if you dont cook and allways at work with nothing on at home. why the hell is bill so high. time to invest in sandbags. Our Goverment sucks along with Appalachian power. Keep voting for these dumb ### in office.

Here is another problem I have found. Some of the Electric companies are very biased. Business rates vary from consumer rates. I have seen people denied being allowed to have their electric turned on, because of certain people having "POWER" to authorize your electric to be turned on. One local individual, plays favorites towards electrical contractors. And if you get them mad, they won't even turn your electric on. And the PUCO boards are a scam, you have to go thru 100's of hurdles to get a meeting, and they know that.

If anyone else knows of power companies, giving preferential treatment towards "Certain" electrical contractors, and now turning peoples electric on, unless they give "Tithes" to these certain contractors, people need to post about it.
