AmeriCredit I will never recommend them to anyone!

We purchased a vehicle in 2004 and financed through Americredit. We made our monthly payments on time until Oct 07. We got a month behind and then picked back up and again made payments. My husband and I noticed that we had not received an invoice for quite a while but were not concerned we were making the payments and knew that we would get around to calling one day. In January 2009 we fell behind again but were going to catch back up this past Friday. Thursday a tow truck appeared in the yard and they advised me they were there for the car. I was surprised since I had not heard from AmeriCredit either by phone or mail ever. I call them only to find out they had charged off our account in 2007. Not sure what that meant since all cars I had ever heard of being taken back were repo'ed. I asked where the money that we had been paying went and they advised on the charged off debt amount. I know this sounds like I am stupid but I have never heard of an auto finance company charging off a car, allow the person to continue to pay on it and carry insurance on it. When I ask if I could do a check over the phone to bring it current she told me they needed 6300.00 or they were going to take the car. I have driven the car for over 202, 000 miles and it had seen better days so we told them to come and get it. (It actually broke down on my daughter while she was going to work that day) They then advised me that we had the option to buy the vehicle for what they appraised it at and would call me with the opportunity. Not sure I have ever heard of this. No notification in 07 that there was an issue with the account and nothing prior to coming to get it. Go figure. I will never recommend them to anyone!

AmeriCredit Stay away!

I bought a vehicle in 2006 from Incredible Auto Sales in Billings, MT. Their choice of a financing company was AmeriCredit Financial Services.

I did not find out that Incredible had filed bankruptcy and AmeriCredit had written a loan on an unclear title until a year later when I had returned to Ohio and tried to license my vehicle. I am listed with the FBI as a fraud victim and I can't begin to tell you what an ordeal this has been.

Through all this, AmeriCredit claims they are not at fault, even though they did not do a title search. They have been relentless on me and with over a year's worth of payments, I still owed more than the vehicle is worth. If they had not written an illegal contract on an unclear title, I would never have bought the vehicle and been in the mess I am in.

I have talked with them many times and written letters but they are not interested in facts or admitting they made a mistake, so they have reposed my vehicle and destroyed my credit.

AmeriCredit Scam

Americredit sucks flat out. They claim i have a simple interest loan and i can not find it any where on my contract that states this. A payment was made and they lost it, so they claimed it was 92 days late and if they would have credited my account with the payment that was made it would have been 62 days late. So they basically reposed my car for no reason. Americredit and there repo company are flat out rude.

I agree that Americredit is a Scam...they thrive off of unethtical business practices by using tactics that fall under the umbrella of "legal". I was solicited by these theives in 2006 with an offer of lowering my monthly payments. At the time I was with a reputable finance company paying a high interest rate nonetheless; but the company was reputable and most of my payments went towards the principle. After transferring my account over to these thieves...36 months later I found out my payoff amount was more than the original cost of the vehicle. Imagine paying $649 a month for 3 years and still owing $25, 000 on a $24, 459 vehicle!

I was livid to say the least. After several attempts to speak to someone with authority, I wanted to re-negotiate my contract and have most of my payments go towards the principle. Out of a $649 monthly payment...$129 was going towards principle the rest to interest. At this rate I would pay $55, 000 for a $24, 000 vehicle. Some might say...its my own fault for not reading the small, small print; perhaps they're correct. But once I realized all this I was willing to work with these cruds, but to no avail.

Eventually I had them repossess the vehicle. Frankly, I'd rather live with the negative credit then continue to put money in these slimeball's pocket. But, it gets worse. Since the repossession these Rip-off artists have the nerve to continue harrassing me for the remainder of the balance. Listen to this...they auctioned the vehicle for $8000 which is the amount I "really" owed on the loan. When I attempted to payout this amount and re-negotiate they kept side stepping me with mumbo-jumbo. The nerve of these sharks to try and get another $17, 000 from me on a car I no longer own! How's that for unethical and what I consider to be illegal creid practices. Americredit is a major player in the sub-prime fiasco, and deserve be investigated by Congress. The worst company in the auto finance business, take my word for it!

Alright, Bub. I agree with your insistence that he pay on time but trashing the great state of Georgia is uncalled for.

Hey [censored], perhaps paying your loan on TIME would have helped you but being 2 months late, it IS their right to repo... Are all people in Georgia as stupid as you, or are you just an offshoot of inbreeding?

AmeriCredit Terrible experience

I paid my car off a year early; payoff ended in a $0 balance. Americredit reported to the credit bureau that I was late making two payments. This was done after the vehicle was paid off. I didn't find this out until I went to purchase a new vehicle. When I called, I was not given an explanation as to why this had happened.

I agree that they are heartless. Yes, I was behind on my payments, and I set up a payment to come out on 2/25/2011, and again on 3/4/2011. I received their Western Union snail mail on March 7th that they were taking the amount out on 2/25/2011 and it included a reference number. However I did not read this snail mail until the early AM of 3/8.

WHY? I was invited to my parents for a week get away (Free of charge... just a little getaway for me and the family as we recently had a loss and we all just needed to get away after a long stressful time) I left 2/26 and returned home 3/7 (around 11pm ish)

The next morning after arriving home I went through my mail. The Western Union letter stated they will have taken the first payment of said amount on 2/25. I did not have the receipt yet for the 3/4 payment and assumed I should get receipt within a week.

March 9th I wake up and BAM the car was gone. I run for my Western Union and then go to the computer to log into my bank account and it shows NO transaction attempts at all from them on those dates. There was more than enough to cover both payments on the 2/25 and on 3/4 ... so what was the problem? I had to start my research. This is what I found.

I reviewed the paper some more to see that they made a major clerical error. The loan is in my husbands name. The bank account that was to make the payment was in my name. I can see the Western Union was addressed to my husband and it was indeed the correct address. However, there was a problem... his name was INCORRECT... they had his middle initial as L. (this information is IMPORTANT... My middle initial is L and we both have the same last name)

So, lets just say my husbands name is
John J. Doe and my name is Jane L. Doe
The receipt was addressed to John L. Doe (same middle initial as mine and same last name) This triggered me to realize they must have had the payments DECLINED due to a name mix up. The routing number was correct, the account number was correct, the mailing address was correct, the middle initial was correct, the last name was correct, BUT THE FIRST NAME WAS INCORRECT and that is what caused my bank to DECLINE the transactions!
The funny thing is when we set up these payments the woman on the phone VERIFIED all the information with me and with my husband.
I quickly called the main number and explained to them that I think there was an error when processing payment. I spoke to "Kathy" whom was kind but then later became very nasty and insisted the error was ours and it was impossible that it was their error. I told her I have balance by dates and it clearly shows there was MORE than enough to cover all payments and then some. She insisted that they had the correct name and bank information. I said to her are you saying we had insufficient funds? She said I am not saying anything other than it was not a clerical error. I said we will see about that. She gave me a number to call the reinstatement dept.

It was a CLERICAL error! I am so certain of this because I have the paper that shows it!

I called the resinstatement dept, but it seems to not take calls once the car has been repossessed but they do however ask you for your information and they call you back. So I called my bank and again to ask them to confirm with me that if the name is incorrect will it not allow the transaction EVEN with the correct routing and account number? He said NO it will not, and they said there is no evidence of them trying the transaction because the system pushed them out.

So I called another number for Americredit as I wanted to get to the bottom of this and spoke to a "Steven". This rep himself said he could CLEARLY see the mistake and he felt confident that when I speak to the reinstatement dept they would see it too. He put me through and of course I had to leave my name, number and they would call me back.

The call came in later and it was a rep named "Jeff". He almost sounded like he understood and he himself could see what happened, but he had to put me on hold to speak to his supervisor.. I was on hold for about four minutes. Once he got back his tone changed with me and was insisting that the error was not theirs it was ours.

It was then where they really couldn't prove that it was not their error so I believe they went onto the next way they were going to prove it was my fault. That is when he went on that they tried to contact us a few times to let us know there was a problem (I was like okay so you're saying that there was a clerical error then?) well big mistake because now he was getting mad at me. He said since we did not call them back they put the car in repossession.

I said no, we did not get back to you because
1. we were out of state for just over 10 days
2. We made arrangements prior to leaving!
3. Any messages they left would have no gotten to us until our return home
4. No snail mail stating there was a problem
5. The funds in my account at that time wouldn't even have shown a dent after they took the money out so NO I didn't notice anything.

Just to help you all understand that I use MagicJack it is a computer phone, so my phone was actually offline and I could not get any messages (no Internet) and I wouldn't have gotten the messages until I got home anyway! I would have to turn on my computer, and go to my email to see the messages. Like I said I wasn't expecting any problems so I didn't look! Everyone that is important to us knows my husbands cell phone number and can always reach us at my parents.

Trust me if we had known we would have DONE SOMETHING About it immediately.

Originally when I called the first guy "Jeff" said we will have you just pay the payments you promised, any late fees, and unfortunately you'll have to pay the repossession fees. This amount was well over what we had originally set up so I was getting very upset. I ask to speak to his supervisor with hopes someone would have a heart there and be a bit more understanding. Boy was I wrong to even think someone in that company has an ounce of kindness in them. It was then I asked to speak to the supervisor as they may have more information to explain to me why this all happened. First just let me say that ...The Supervisor GARY is just pure evil and he was upset with me so he went out of his way to personally attack me by adding more to the case... I can tell he did because normally a rep will give you a list of things you have to do.. this Gary was giving me things at random times... he was doing it out a spite! Here is what he did.

I waited from 10:45am to 1:49PM. The call finally came in. The Supervisors name is "GARY" and immediately from the word hello he was patronizing me due to his belief of superiority over me and the situation. He would sit there in silence as if I was bothering him. I asked him to please give me more information on why payment did not go through. I was honestly just looking for some sort of admittance on their part that this clerical error is what essentially caused this mess. He refused to say it wasn't due to non-sufficient funds and he was definitely not going to say it was due to their own clerical error. He would not say it was their mistake no matter what. I explained to him that I do not understand how this could have happened because when setting up the payments I confirmed with the woman on the phone EVERYTHING and all was well, but he said "obviously not".

Then I said Okay, can you please explain to me again what this amount/total includes? I was going to ask them if they could remove this months car payment that was NOT due until the 25th anyway... but he wouldn't budge. I was getting very upset at this point. So at this point all we had to do was get the payment up to par, and he would give the release number. However, because I was asking for more information as to how this happened and its clearly showing it was a name error ... He hesitated for a few seconds (like he kept doing) then said we need proof of employment. When he said that I about went through the roof. I know he was doing this because he was annoyed with me. Then after I said okay I can do that .. he then said NO I want a letter faxed over from the human resources dept. I was like you've got to be kidding me... Okay, I can get that... no problem. I said I find it odd it was never mentioned throughout the day or I WOULD HAVE ALREADY worked on that while I was waiting for his call! He said oh, and I need proof of insurance too. I said WHAT? You have it ... on my current bill from you it says there in black and white that you were thanking us for keeping current on our insurance coverage. He said no sorry... I said sorry for what? He knew I was getting seriously upset at this point. I said OKAY DONE, He said DONE? You already faxed it. I said How could I have already faxed it when I just was told not only 30 seconds ago that you wanted it... I meant DONE I"LL GET IT DONE (common saying) so I said... but where do I fax it... I said I'm writing it all down and yes I did get huffy at some points, but I was only reacting to what he was pushing out onto me. That is when he said OH, and this all needs to be done within two hours. I was like WHAT? He said yes because I wont be here after 3:30. I said so if I get this information to you by then I can get the release number? He said yes after we determine if we still want you to have the loan or not? I was like WHAT? Now, we have to be approved again after having the car for four years? That is when he said Oh, and I want four NEW references that we can contact! That is when I said "Oh, now all of a sudden you adding to this list ... four new references?" He said I'm done talking to you and he hung up on me.

You could clearly tell he was making this difficult and was hanging their clerical mistake over me. I am at a loss and thinking of contacting Consumer affairs (FTC) to seek advice and help.

My bank confirmed that if Americredit tried to put the payment through with the correct routing number and the correct account number, BUT if the name was incorrect it would NOT go through. They have done this with us MANY TIMES in the past... we call, we set up payment, it goes through and all is fine. This time THEY SCREWED UP!

So essentially I can pay the amount ... not a problem, but them making this very difficult is just pathetic when it was all done in THEIR ERROR.

Has anyone else had this problem. I am curious? Before anyone starts saying if you made your payments on time this wouldn't happen. Well, unfortunately where we live you only work 8-9 months out of the year and YES I did get backed up around January... so be it... but it happens not everyone is as lucky to have funds coming in to cover all bills. Some of us just didn't get that wonderful job or college education to give us a high paying job. So chill out on the comments about that... its simple we fell behind, we made good, and due to clerical error on their part and because we were not aware of it (only 7 business days) it caused us this headache. I will NEVER ever have anything nice to say about Americredit, and I think hearing from a past employee of this company only proves that they set out to be difficult and do not work well with you. I also wonder if this Gary was one of the people that harassed you!

I worked for AmeriCredit Financial for 2 years and this was the worst experience I have ever encountered. I recieved annual reviews showing that I was doing what they call a standard demand. Which is a senseless group of questions and the demand that we request a check from the customer even if we have spoken to the customer earlier that day. If the customer calls and ask for a specific person they are harrassed with this standard demand and we were told to call the neighbors, family and friends to locate a customer. I was harrassed by management and my piers were saying how bad they felt about the harrassment they were doing. However noone would come forward and be a witness due to fear of loosing their job. I had one lady that sat beside me and was very upset because she could not stop the harrassment that was going on. She needless to say went to management and voiced her opinion which made it worst for me. She was told to basically mind her business and not to get involved. I had training meeting to go to and I voiced my opinion and was punished for voicing my opinion. I and another employee team member were scheduled for this "training meeting ". The meeting was a complete joke. The training contradicted what was taught by the supervisor. Just to give another example of the many harrassments. My supervisor was out one day and there is a daily calendar that some of the supervisors were giving to there employees. I requested one from that particular supervisor since my supervisor never gave this sheet. There was a team member that hung out with the supervisor and the management team. This employee lied to my supervisor and said I spoke down about him and stated I he was not giving proper documents. It was at this point that the harrassment really became worst. My supervisor stated that I was not making enough calls to the references and that I was staying on the line too long after each call. I previously told my supervisor my issues with the computer and he ignored the fact that I along with others had issues with the system. I can go on and on about the things they did to me but that still does not count for the horrible way they taunted me after finding out some of my personal information. I shared with Human Resources the fact that I was previously homeless and I would do anything to keep my job. That was the wrong thing to do they really wanted to see the same thing happen to me again. They not only fired me for unexplained reasons but also tried to fight me and block my unemployment. Needless to say that did not work. God is with me and I can truly say I feel sorry for that emotionless management team.

Americredit I came to that place with great hope and ambitions to move forward in your company only to find I was not willing to do what it took to be a part of the management team. When I say not doing enough I mean I was not treating customers and piers like they meant nothing.

One thing I always say is treat people the way you want to be treated and you will go a long way. I gave my all to this company. I left with my pride and yet they will always be known as the company that rips off customers and treats their employees terribly.

This company should not be allowed to treat their employess so cruel. I recieved many comments from customers stating how pleased they were with my attitude. I even recieved a thank you card from one of the customers. To make matters worst I recieved a call from a customer the day before they decided to fire me. I have never had such cruel treatment from an employer. They are very vendictive and I wish something could be done about the way they treat both customers and employees.

AmeriCredit third party disclosure

I am late this month on my car loan with Americredit; the next day after being late they call every hour of the day; every day even on Sundays. Yesterday they called my son and left a message for him to call them about my loan. Today another collector called leaving a full detailed message to my son about my loan. This is illegal and called third party disclosure. How awful and embarrassing.

Thank you. I was late on a payment and they harassed by grandparents, parents and a friend who I had put down as references. I couldn't believe it. I had no cell service at work so IF they tried to call me I never received their calls until after work when I could check my messages. By that time they had already called half my family asking where I was and telling them how late I was and that I owed this much, etc.
When I called and spoke to a supervisor about it, he called me a liar and told me that no information was ever released. I told him we had recorded the messages and saved them and my lawyer would be contacting them and he hung up on me. I understand it's my fault when I'm late on a payment, but life happens sometimes and I was laid off of my job and couldn't make the payment. How can a company disclose information to others?

My family is being harassed by Americredit over a truck that they got returned to them last year by my stepson, it seems to have disappeared! Now they are having Night Hawk Recovery Agents coming to my home trying to "date" me and befriend me just to get information.
They are low bottom feeders, and should be put out of business. I am seeking legal advise this coming week, I have been called numerous times and lied too, and the Agent from Night Hawk asked me for a loan to pay his rent, I think they are all stalkers and should be put in jail!

AmeriCredit Substandard Operational Procedure

I purchased a car in 2000 from Terry Cullen Chevrolet. AmeriCredit was the finance company. After 9-11 and bankruptcy of United Airlines, I was furloughed as a flight attendant twice. I had to resort to being a food server for a year and a half. I struggled to keep my car payments current. I kept in communication with AmeriCredit to pay them what I could. I did fall behind. They did agree to work with me until I completed my certification as an educator and continue with payments. I was in the process of sending in a payment which they agreed to accept and they turned around and repossessed the car anyway, my brown leather jacket left in the car and all. They sold the car and recovered $6, 000 or more for the car. They then charged it off on my credit. Never heard from them in six years. Now I am being threatened with wage garshisment if I do not pay them 21, 000, that included principle and interest after six years. I have 30 days to fix this thing and I am not a happy camper. I have read other complaints and it saddens me to hear all the stories of how AmeriCredit is treating their clients. I am going to fight and they will not win this one!

AmeriCredit Unethical

I called to get the payoff on my vehicle. They gave me an amount, and I sent them a check for that amount over night. They recieved it and cashed it on Juny 17th. 2017. After 30 days of not gettng my title, I call them. They tell me that I still owe them one payment. Then I prove to them that I don't and their story changes to...I owe them unpaid late fees. I ask for a full history of my account. I recieve it and even their documentation shows that I have a $0.00 balance. So I call and put in the last four of my SSN and the recording says " This account is paid in full". But yet when I talk to some one they tell tell me that they will not release the title until I pay 633.00 late payments that their own accounting shows that I don't owe. I have filed a civeil suit.

I am sorry that this is happening to you. They don't want to understand. They, quite frankly, don't care. Don't be surprised if they come and repo it right out from under you and then come up with some enormous fee for getting back. I was the one who had the problem with my title. They are a horrible, unethical, unsympathetic company, that is only interested in money and finding anyway they can to get more out of you. They think they are above the law. I think we all learned a lesson about dealing with them. Good luck with your new job and I hope everything goes well.

AmeriCredit charges the most fees of any loan company ever. Now they have started charging $5 to make payments online (after two years of making payments). In addition, if you are late, they charge a late fee and then, interest EACH day you are late.

God forbid you are ever late. They hound the hell out of you with at least four calls a day. If there is any way around it, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. The way they do business has to boarder on illegal.

I too was one that was told that differed payments would simply extend the contract. Now they state that the contract has expired and sent a repo company to pick up the vehicle. My balance is $1600 which they refused to take payments on, they want a lump sum. Each time I call I get a different and as you might expect I get a different answer. They are rude and threatening and apparently change their operating polices frequently. I would not encourage anyone to do business with Americredit. They are the most dishonest company I've ever dealt with.

Americredit called my home at least ten times a day. I had a five year loan and the last year of the loan my car was reposed even though I had been making a smaller then normal payment. I had paid over 20, 000 dollars. My balance was less then 3200.00. They are a very dishonest organization. And they take advantage of the little man. I think that everyone should be forewarned about this company. Please do not take out any loans through americredit or you will regret it. They are truly unethical and need to be investigated for fraud.

I have been dealing with Americredit for approx 2 years.

Last Thursday, 6-17-10, they were supposed to get a payment sent to them, but, they didn't, I don't know why.I got an automated call on Sunday, I called them on Monday, and told them they would be paid on Tuesday, they called me2 more times after I called them, asking me about my payment.

I usually pay between 150-175.00 dollars extra every month because they "screwing me" with a high interest rate.

I personally will never deal with these ###s ever again!

hopefully they'll just go out of buisness! and soon !

this company needs to be shut down, they have single handedly killed my credit! they report to the credit agencies false payment schedules (I do have proof of this) they harrass you before payment is due, they will call you names and I have been referred to as a "dead beat" after I recieved 20 calls in 1 day and I exploded and asked them to come pick up my SUV that I was tired of the harrassment package, I was not behind at that time and was being hastled about the next payment due in 10 days. I have made payment late but not as they have reported. The jacked up interest makes the payment hard to swallow, but when you are caught in a catch 22 you do what you have to do. I did however pay them off early (18 months) and they are reporting that I made 51 payments on a 72 month laon. I am in shock that this allowed to happen. How can you pay a loan off early and stll get the shaft on payment details?

I financed a car through this company. I abought another car and financied it through another source. I forgot to cancel the automatic payment. The dealer paid off the car 5-20. Americredit sent the dealer the title about two weeks later, but has not refunded my money. They claim they want to make sure the dealer's check clears. I was never late on my payments. This company is dishonest and takes advantage of the little person. They did not mess with the big auto dealer, which is one of the largest in my state. I do not recommend this company.

Americredit bought our daughter and son-in-laws car loan. They refuse to honor the previous contract which allowed a 10 day grace period on payment and they have started charging per deim interest every day their payment is past the due day. They have had the loan for only 3 or 4 months and have added over $700 to their loan. They start calling my daughter at 8 am the day after the payment date and they call her 20 - 30 times a day. There is nothing in their original contract that says they can do this. It is ridiculous that they get away with treating people like this.

They will not work with you on financing, terms, interest, anything. If you are one day late, they call you every day, sometimes more than once, until you give a payment arrangement. I've asked for a breakdown of finance charges toward each payment for a year now b/c the loan isn't going down, and yet to get it after several attempts. WE NEED A CLASS ACTION ON THIS COMPANY. If there is a lawyer who will file suit you have tons of complaints here! Just the fact you cannot get an explanation of your finance charges applied toward payments tells you something.

We purchased a car in 2017 and were financed with Americredit. Our car somehow caught on fire and totalled out the car in 5 minutes flat. Two days after they put us into collections. A week later it was listed as a reposetion on our credit. We financed a TOTAL of $18, 000 give or take. We paid 3 years at $315 a month, totalling up to $11, 340. Then they were paid another $10, 000 by the insurance company for the car. They are still trying to come after us for another $2, 700. I know how to do simple math and $21, 340 is more than $18, 000. They refuse to take the reposetion off of our credit and refuse to drop the $2, 7000 claim. No car dealerships like them and we have talked to several that refuse to use them. They are scam artists and will rip you off. We are military and foster parents and are only trying to do what is right. We are being ripped off and unfairly accused of failing to take care of business. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY WHATEVER YOU DO!

About 3 and a half years ago after being paid up on my payment, and having to borrow money from my parents to get paid up, I recieve a phone call from my parents that someone was at their house taking my car. They sent someone to take my car after I had just got of the phone with them and set up future payments to be taken out of my account. When my Dad tried to get my things out of the car they told him that by law he was unable to get the things out and that they had to by law send me my things via UPS with-in 48hrs. I had many things in my car such as 4 cases of cd's, all of my softball equipment, a tent and sleeping bag from camping the weekend before and clothes and a braclet from Kay Jewlers with diamonds in it. I never received any of my things back and when I called them to see what was going on, I got, oh-our mistake, we will bring it back to you. Mind you they did this in the middle of the night and woke up my whole neighborhood. The car was also broke down for the 5th time since I had had it, and I told them just keep the car and wash this clean and send me back my stuff. Now, three and a half years later they are saying that I owe then over $7000 and the car wasn't even worth that much, they are reporting a bunch of stuff on my credit and just making life hell for me after this was all supposed to be taken care of many years ago. I also was not able to get any of my things out of the car. They have caused a ton of issues in my everyday life and if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know!

AmeriCredit Beware

My car was reposed and they only had it for 4 days and I just want to make everyone aware that once they take your car or truck they report it as repossession to all 3 credit bureaus. After speaking with a rep from americredit he stated that if they have it for one day they report it I said that is illegal because companies don't report until the end of each month for positive or negative credit. He said that's the way they handle things for all that I should have let them keep the car the results are the same.

AmeriCredit Repossession

On May 2, 2008 AmeriCredit’s repossession agent in repossessing my vehicle constitute “A Breach of the Peace” according to the law in my home town.

The repossession agent illegally; entered the secured locked closed garage in my apartment community without my permission in seizing my car.

Americredit sold my vehicle at a Private Sale. Proceeds of the sale did satisfy the balance of my account and a credit exists. Americredit forward a customer refund check to my attention.

I believe Americredit and the repossession company should be required to pay a penalty to compensate me for illegally seizing my car.

Americredit recently repo'd my car. I was shocked to wake up one morning and see a missed call on my cell phone @ 3am. I wondered who would have called me @ that hour. I didn't recognize the number of the missed call. I listened to the voicemail. It was mortifying to hear a man's voice on the other end saying, 'Cass, I'm here to repossess the vehicle! You...

AmeriCredit They lost the title to my car

I paid my car off in Feb. 2008. I was never late with a payment nor have I ever had any previous dealings with AmieriCredit. I have yet to receive the title to my car, a refund check, or a "Gee, I'm sorry for the inconvenience". On the contrary, they act as if it is my fault. They keep telling the same thing over and over, "The title was mailed out...» The irony is AmeriCredit never missed sending me a monthly statement, showing how much I owed them. Now, I am just another annoyance that they have been putting off for nearly three months.

AmeriCredit Request for Deferred payment

On March 8, 2008, my husband had a stroke and was hospitalized and suffered another stoke just a few days later in the hospital. I contacted Americredit because the doctors told me he would be off work and it would take some time for recovery. We had made 5 payments on our loan at that time. I was told by three Americredit representatives that we would have to make six payments before we could get 2 payments deferred. We struggled to make the sixth payment and was told to call back three days after the payment and make arrangements for a deferral. I was also given the cost to arrange for the deferral. I called back on the third day and was told " no deferrments are available, the company decides when it will give them, they are not guaranteed. I asked if there was a cut off day/date, so I could call back...they said no, there are none available right now. We were mislead. I was never told they were not guaranteed.

Mines a little different, americredit told the irs that they sent us a check for over 6 grand and know the irs want over 3 grand. They are saying that we didnt claim that as income. I know one thing if I got that much back from a bank I would through a party, and this is on our 2011 taxes. I didnt think the irs would be dumb enough to fall for it, and I don't think they are in business for collected debt other then theirs.

I've had a similar experience... my car was totalled out by another driver. The insurance company paid the value of my car (because the dealer didn't offer let alone explain gap coverage on my 1st and only lease) I then worked with americredit and agreed to pay the remaining 5000.00 over a 23mos period w/no interest. I then proceeded to make payments more than the minimum due and have now paid it off 4mos. early. Today I received a notice from my credit card company stating I have a serious delinquency on my credit report and will subsequently be charged a $59 annual fee. When I inquired about it they stated that there was a charge off on my credit report from americredit/gm leasing dating back to with in 2 weeks from the day that my leased car was totalled. As of right now I have no Idea what to do because I have already paid them in full(which i have yet to receive a p.i.f. letter) and now have a charge off on my credit report dropping me some 200pts. Does anyone else see anything wrong with what americredit has done and is doing? Please help me.

AmeriCredit AmeriCredit nightmare

Good day,

I would like to file a formal complaint against Americredit.

AmeriCredit Financial Services, Inc.

801 Cherry Street, Suite 3900

Fort Worth, Texas 76102

Tel: [protected]

F: [protected]

Unfortunately for me I have been a client of this company for about 16 months.

The problems are as follows:

I make payments for a car loan timely, using the Americredit website to make the payments, but yet Americredit either loses my payments, holds my payments until atleast the 16th of each month, (which is 9-10 days after the payment is due), or does not credit my account.

I have sent proof to this company of my timely payments numerous times and yet they still have not corrected my account.

It is now about 16 months 13-14 of which I have been arguing with too many of the Americredit supervisors, proving to them our payments were made timely and correctly but yet the account is still wrong.

I have demanded the correct payoff figure for the vehicle but it is like I am talking to a wall.

I too am 1 of possibly 100,000 people this company is abusing with these business practices, and harassing collection calls and horrible business practices.

Americredit is also listed with the BBB due to it's horrible business practices.

I have personally sent the BBB 3-5 letters complaining about Americredit, but Americredit seems to ignore my complaints.

Americredit has called me from Toronto, Canada, which makes me think they are trying to by pass American Consumer Protection Laws.

As a last resort I am asking both of your offices for guidance, and if possible would like to start a class action lawsuit. If you know of a legal firm that might be interested in handling a lawsuit against Americredit please recommend it.

In summary I have demanded the payoff amount to be correct and the account be up to date and correct. I would think that there are numerous people in the same situation as I am in and we would like to sue or be part of a class action lawsuit against Americredit and the dealer that processed my loan with Americredit VIP Auto in South Plainfield, NJ

Thank you for your attention and prompt response to my complaint.

Americredit still says my husband and I owe 3500.00 after completeing all 72 payments on said loan. Now, they expect us to come up with 3500.00 or they are going to repoe my vehicle. This was on 4/24/09. I am seeking a bankruptsy lawyer. However, I also read Buck's complaint and I I have contacted him regarding the class action law suit.

I would love to join a lawsuit against gm financial- ameri credit. They have ripped me off big time. They have said that I have not made payments and I have proof of paying them then they repossed my jeep they said that I was 3 months behind when I was one also was making double payments last year and in October 2014 repossed the jeep saying they not received a payment since June and I told them bank statements don't lie and they said don't matter it has to be recorded in the system. Now it's back up for repo again saying I am 242 days past due when they received a 425 payment the 3 of March and Saturday I got a letter that was dated for August. 29, 2014 telling me either pay this amount or the jeep will be repo again now tell why and how it takes 8 months to get that letter to me and the sad thing is that it was repo in October with no notice and now it's up again and the payments are being paid before due date and I am still making double payments. Can someone figure that out. Now to finish when I spoke them today they say that I owe twice as much as the actually purchase price so I purchased it at 12 thousand and they saying I owe 26 thousand looked at paperwork for date of purchase mind you I have had this jeep since 2012. Tell me how the price goes up instead of going down. If anyone or even a lawyer willing to help get a lawsuit started please contact me at shawnnjoyce2010@ Gmail.com. You are starting to look lazy and / or you don't push through things and / or you are a push over. Don't you think if they didn't and alleged you didn't pay off they would not have come for the car? THINK! They all your info alright. or just get a copy of the cancelled check from your bank! Duh. And learn what CMRRR is and use it with Americrap.

I have had Americredit since 2007 and I hate them. They changed my due date without me knowing it. Then held my payment and charged me a late fee. They have been doing this every since I have had this company. Now they have been bought out by GM, now I can't make my payment at all. They have been a problem every since I have had them, and the phone calls are ridiculous 5 to 6 a day, from 8am to 9 or 9:30pm at night. they start on Sunday at 8pm and even if you make a payment they still call.

I have read these complaints from people and it sounds just awful! I certainly feel empathy for all of them! I have had 2 loans w/Americredit one an 07 Ford Ranger and one a 2011 Camaro, I must say the due dates were the same each month and I paid by the due date each month and had exactly zero issues with them on either loan. I think you must remember that this company is a company that gives people a chance that otherwise would not get a loan, so they do take a risk picking us up to begin with. I do know a company (wells fargo) I had a loan with and was able to defer a payment once as a hard-ship, I knew in advance I was going to be unable to pay it and got w/them right away. I still do know that some companies are uncaring and it is ultimately our problem and not theirs. Gotta pay them bills!

I have never given this account number to anyone at all. I do not keep much money on this account, only 10$ or 20$, the main reason why I have it is because i have a credit card associated with it that has very low interest rate. Well, long story short, this morning I realized I have to NSF of 29 each in that account and I called the credit union they told me the I have to transactions: $428.85 from GMF AmeriCredit GMF AmeriC and $5.00 from FEE WU GMF Amer WUGMF Amer in. I do not know what the deal is but I have never been owe this company a dime, as matter of fact, i did not event know who they were until I googled them. I have been dealing with Americredit for almost 5 years and they are the worst finance company ever. They harrass you and home, work, wherever they can. I was at the end of my loan and they had my car repossessed without any warning. My husband is on the heart transplant list and we have fallen on hard times due to medical bills, but they don't care if you have been paying for the past 4 1/2 years and you have a life and death situation. Americredit is the worst company, they are rude and harass when payments are late. I purchased a vehicle from a dealer in Massachusetts in December 2005 and the payments were high. The vehicle was sold with a warranty we paid $1000 from the dealer. The dealer never purchased the warranty and we were stuck with a dead vehicle. I called Americredit and they were not willing to listen to my problem nor were they willing to help. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY!

AmeriCredit Harassed me time and time again at work

I have (had) account with americredit and had a deferred payment. I had never missed paying my account and paid the late fees when late. However they came up with a whole different story when the final payment came due and they had added a huge amount of late fees to the account.

The thing that i hate the most is that i called and emailed so many times and no one was ever able to look back at my account and explain anything to me. In fact one representative was asking me questions that they should have been answering for me.

I was finally told that my loan was sent to the credit bureau as a default payment and i could not understand why when the representative had made arrangements with me to pay the last payments but they had sent the information already and say now that they will resubmit the information to the credit bureau, i do not believe it and am waiting to see.

They have harassed me time and time again at work. Then when i emailed them or called them about my account it was a different story.

Consumers have it hard, i also believe i was give a much higher finance rate to begin with, for reasons i will not point fingers at today. But i do believe this company has issues and i fail to believe i am the only person to have been treated like i was.

AmeriCredit $5 for auto loan online payments!

Americredit will start charging $5 for online payments. After making payments for 2 years for no additional charge now they start charging new fees. This is not fair and might even be again the original terms of the loan... Not sure but will check and see. They blame this on western union, however, they have been paying this fee for online customers and only charging this fee to telephone (call in customers) checks. They use the same system to make these phone checks as the online checks so the fees for western union have not changed. The only change is that Americredit will not longer allow you the discount for doing it yourself (online).
