Amerinational Management Service Inc, is a debt collection agency. Innocent, naive consumers will sign for martial arts or taekwondo training not knowing that they are signing for debt collection.
At my local Taek-wondo school I signed for a one year training. Due to covid 19 the school has been closed and cannot offer any training and I asked the school to stop collecting the payments. Even though school agrees not to charge but Amerinational management continues to charge my bank account. When I stopped the payment, they started with threatening phone calls and letters.
mcdojo contracts
We are in the Chicago area and attended apart at a TKD school. Sold us on classes for my son and me and as he would get a small close another fee would appear. I mentioned a few times it was not really in our budget an money was tight. His response was to ad value. I even paid for what I thought was to cover the first month, and asked for an invoice. I was told we can discuss that and I never saw a price sheet. Long story short once I say I can afford a monthly payment of whatever (usually couple hundred) they give the contract for 11 months and I have a down payment of 800 dollars. Trust had been built up and suddenly the legs get kicked from under me. I say that's way out of a budget. "We'll work with you on that, you like coming and your getting benefits and your son enjoys it here." A note is made on the contract and I feel comfortable again. This grey-haired master is such a nice guy, and he wants to help me. I sign. Only once I read the document at home (or in this case my spouse does and asks me to help explain ) I suddenly realize that I have other payments they will take from me and that the contract will be assigned (this is a deceptive legal term that means the Dojo will sell, for a lump sum, you contract to their billing agency The dojo gets a percentage of the value of the contract (and perhaps some fees for belt testing and sale of equipment and merchandise) but that 11 mos term at the few hundred each month, is now anticipated revenue for Amerinational management Services, Inc.
Realizing the financial strain I unwittingly put on my family and how hard staying current with the payments would be. I went to speak to the master and let him know that I was not going to be able to afford to come any longer and she responded by offering a Scholarship. Very generous, of him (we learned after reading up this is a common way to have you work for them, sorry volunteer for them while still paying them, just less than before. I opted out and Contacted AMS which now held the contract. They said we are still responsible and even if we have no money in the bank it is up to us to pay. If we wanted to break the agreement then we pay 3 months of training. It was out of the question for my family.
As I suspect, these contracts (if indeed valid, as some of their competitors like MSI have weak documents that are not considered legal documents) are just barely legal.
I am sure many reading this will think, me naive and you'd be right. I should not trust business owners, right? Buyer beware. I get that. So all the moral and ethical lessons, I was taught in school are worthless because no one is really that way. Just assume everyone is greedy, and we need to consult an attorney to review contracts just to see if it makes sense to sign a child up for martial arts. I know. If it is that much work, I should probably walk away.
I am not saying I am not in the wrong. My main concern is the lack of general human ethics in the sales process and effort to work with us when we admit we made a mistake by not following our gut reaction and asking deeper questions and getting more upfront information, doing our research and getting clarity on legal terms.
At this point, we offer them the money they already have taken from us and nothing more and we get to never have to deal with them again, though I suspect we will be in a tug of war for some time. My main goal in posting here is to Make others aware. Though I fear by the time they research this organization. They will already have made a similar mistake.

Unable to cancel taekwondo contract due to medical reasons and frustration
Hello my name is Dai Nguyen and I am a frustrated consumer who feels that I am being taken advantage of and not being taken seriously. My boyfriend and I signed a Taekwondo contract on 12/31/15, at America's Best Taekwondo Center, that would be for 24 months. On 2/23/16 he was diagnosed with a hernia and had a doctor’s note to not participate in any form of exercise until further notice. We spoke to the Master at the Dojang on 2/24/16 (located in Woodbridge, VA) and he told us to contact the main office, (Amerinational Management Services, located in Orlando, FL) and send in the doctor’s note. On the contract it says "affected person can cancel due to substantial disability" and all that was required was to send a letter.
We were told by the main office that there was no fax machine, that they'd have to review it and deem it a permanent injury (says that nowhere on the contract), then they'll send me a medical form, my doctor would have to fill it out and send it back, and that we would have to send it in by mail. This dramatically slowed down the process. I checked to see if they got it several times and even two weeks later they claimed to have never received the letter. Every time we call, it’s something different and even the instructor is confused and is giving us the wrong information. Both parties are never on the same page even though we do everything that we are told.
He stopped going to class since 2/5/16 and I have stopped going since 4/6/16, we have been paying the full amount since 2/1/16. We have called many lawyers seeking free legal advice or a pro bono lawyer to contact the main office to see if we can come to a mutual agreement, since they won't seem to take me or my boyfriend seriously. At this point it doesn't seem like he will be able to finish taekwondo or get his black belt. It's just not feasible, he could risk landing himself back in the hospital. We don't want our money back, we just want to cancel the services but there is no way out according to them. As I have cancelled the payment for the month of May because neither of us are using the services or benefiting from it. I have also written letter to the President of the company because of the inefficient manner in which his office operates.

We hope that this student will recover from this medical condition in a speedy manner and wish the best health for him always. Martial arts practice promotes better health in all areas of our lives.
At this time our records show the agreement was cancelled back in 04/16/2016 and they have no further obligations to pay.
We hope you understand that it took a little time to go through the process, but we work with the school to amicably solve all disagreements, as we did in this case. Unfortunately, this case took longer than we would have liked, but we are happy to have resolved it to your satisfaction. Again, we hope your recovery is going well.
you forgot to mention that Amerinational management service is a debt collection agency. Martial Arts schools used your services for extortion and harassment.
Hello Dai,
My family is currently working move away from this as there was a lot of undisclosed fees. It was not financially feasible any longer. Our dojang assigned (sold) our membership contract to AMS as well. I had never heard of McDojo's until this week, turns out that's what this was. TKD belt retail, which went against the very tenants of WTF they were extolling. I hope, after almost a year you have some positive resolution. We are blocking payments and planning to seek legal representation if they decide to sue. We are in Illinois. Further reading for those who are unaware of McDojos:
