Aosom's Garden Shed: False Advertising and Scam-like Practices
I recently purchased a garden shed from Aosom for over $1500 and was extremely disappointed with the product. The shed collapsed with the first snowfall, despite Aosom's claims that it was "durable and weather resistant" and "ideal for long-lasting outdoor use". It was clear to me that their advertising was false and misleading.
The shed was poorly engineered and flimsy-by-design. I had to drill additional holes as some did not match up, even after leveling and aligning the shed. But the worst part was the roof collapsing and the rest of the shed folding like a house of cards. It was clear to me that Aosom was engaged in false and knowingly deceptive advertising, misleading consumers and engaging in overall unscrupulous business practices.
It felt like a scam to me, as Aosom knowingly sold a defective-by-design shed for use in Canada, despite knowing that it wouldn't survive Canadian winters. They received numerous complaints about the product, yet continued to sell it. This seems like the very definition of a scam.
Their warranty also seemed scam-like to me. The 90-day warranty is designed to expire just before the first snowfall, when the shed is most likely to collapse. It's a shady practice that looks like it's designed to never be used. A 90-day warranty for a multi-year use product is deceptive, unfair, useless, dishonest, and unreasonable. It's clear to me that Aosom knows about this issue, as they have received many complaints over the years, yet they continue this practice.
Overall, I would not recommend Aosom to anyone looking for a durable and reliable garden shed. Their false advertising and scam-like practices make it clear that they cannot be trusted.
Disappointing Experience with Aosom's PawHut Wooden Outdoor Bunny Rabbit Hutch/Guinea Pig House
I recently had an experience with Aosom, specifically with their product, the PawHut Wooden Outdoor Bunny Rabbit Hutch/Guinea Pig House. I purchased this item through eBay with order number 05-***-*** and was excited to use it to house my bunnies in my yard. The product was advertised as weather-proof and durable, perfect for outdoor use. However, I received a lemon product that did not live up to its advertised standards.
The product became destroyed by a small gust of wind, which I believe was due to faulty hinges, hardware, and construction provided by the factory. The small screws and staples were inefficient at holding the roof in place, causing it to angle back and snap the pin of the other hinge. This was a huge disappointment, as I was lucky to be there when it occurred. If I were gone, my bunny would have been exposed to the elements, targeted by hawks, or run away.
I contacted Aosom via their website and eBay for additional support, but unfortunately, I received no response. I requested a new product to replace this lemon on May 10, 2020, but have had no luck getting support from employee "Kent." Multiple times, Kent stopped responding completely, and I had to resend the information to evoke a response.
To make matters worse, I had to put safety wire around the broken hinge spot to keep it held down in the back. I attached larger screws and JB Weld to keep it in place, but it's still very fragile due to the trauma caused by the initial damage. The screws I used are much stronger and longer, so they stick up from the top now and are a sharp point hazard.
Overall, I must insist that I receive a new product as the one I received surely was just from a bad batch if this is how it held up to standard conditions it should be designed to withstand. The product they gave to me did not work as advertised, and I was disappointed with the lack of support from Aosom. It's important for companies to stand behind their products and provide excellent customer service, and unfortunately, Aosom fell short in both areas in my experience.
Aosom Review: Affordable Products, But Lack of Support and Quality Control
The products offered by Aosom are definitely affordable, but you may find yourself paying for it in the long run due to the lack of support provided by the company. I recently purchased a bicycle cargo trailer from them, but unfortunately, it arrived without the wheel skewers. To make matters worse, there was no bill of materials included in the package, which made it impossible for me to check if I had received everything I needed. Despite my attempts to explain the situation, the customer service representatives seemed to have trouble understanding what I was talking about. It took several emails and a lot of frustration before they finally sent me the missing parts.
Once I had the skewers, I thought my problems were over, but I was wrong. It turned out that all the nuts on the bolts were only finger-tightened at the factory, which caused the main bolt that holds the tow arm in place to fall out while I was using the trailer. This caused the whole trailer to tilt backwards, and I had to slam on the brakes to avoid a disaster. Unfortunately, this caused the load to pitch forward, and the bed of the trailer hit the tow arm, causing a crease in the top of the tube.
When I contacted Aosom about the damage, they refunded my purchase and instructed me to donate the trailer. However, I soon discovered that this meant I was "out of warranty," and they would not sell me any replacement parts, not even a spoke, tire, or complete wheel. This lack of support is definitely not sustainable, and it means that you may have to dispose of an otherwise serviceable purchase prematurely because Aosom will not provide any parts or support.
Overall, while Aosom's products may be affordable, the lack of support and poor quality control means that you may end up paying for it in the long run. If you do decide to purchase from them, be prepared to deal with frustrating customer service and potentially dangerous quality issues.

I wish I had never heard of them. The dog kennel fence is so flimsy that when I tried unrolling it, it caught itself at the bottom and started separating. Then I had to get zip ties and other fasteners to keep my dogs in. The canopy ripped the 1st wind and I replaced it with a tarp but now the A frame roof is a U shape roof due to the snow. I had even asked for a replacement fencing and was told they were out of stock. I paid over $600 for it and it's made from the cheapest material possible. I got a partial refund just over $100 bc 2 of the 3 boxes came, sat for awhile b4 the rest came. Like weeks.
I am very pleased with this company! Me and my wife bought our 16 month old a 12v ride on jeep and it looks sweet. We had a issue with 1 part that wore out quick maybe just due to manufacturing fault not sure but they did more than fix the issue quickly, they sent us a whole new Jeep and now we have two. Wow! I was stunned. Our kid loves this Jeep and now our child on the way will have one waiting for him when he's old enough. I will be buying more items from this company. Very reliable! I went through BRADS DEALS, got to the AOSOM site, but could not enter as a guest and had to go through a verification challenge. I ordered what I thought were two trees. When I hit the order button, my invoice disappeared, and suddenly I was in a chat trying to find my order. Then I was prompted to give my order number, which I didn't have (you see where this is going, right?). Then I get a note from AOSOM that I have one pre-lit tree that is 2 feet tall and I'm charged an unexpected amount after taxes. The starting price from AOSOM was different from the starting price for two trees quoted in BRADS DEALS. Now there have been typos or mistakes, I don't know, but I have documentation of what seems like a bait and switch, and everyone I know is going to know about this behavior. I have warned my credit card company already that this transaction can't go through.

Stellar service. OUTSTANDING PRODUCT. Exactly what we needed! My African Grey had chewed through her pet carrier while I was driving. It was unsafe for both of us. I found two options on Aosom and reaches out for information on the spacing between the rungs. I found the customer service, fast, efficient and provided exactly what I needed. My new traveling bird cage arrived. WOW on the packaging. And SUPER AWESOME WOW on our finished product. We had our first outdoor mini-adventure yesterday with Huge Success. We (myself and Kianga) are excited about the opportunities our new travel cage have and will offer.

If I could give a negative rating I would. I ordered a pergola from this company at the end of May we received everything but the top of the pergola because it was "damaged in transit" the company refuses to send a replacement top. I have contacted customer service multiple times and all they say is send everything that is already unboxed and waiting for the top back to the company for a refund, absolutely ridiculous. I will not ever reccomend this company to anyone or purchase from this company again.

Product was defective missing grommets for the drapes. Tried contacting the customer service website three times by email, each time i was told i would be responded to in 24-72 hours . Never once did they try to contact me . I also tried 2 times to call their customer service line, on both occasions i waited the extended times in which they told me the call would take , at the end of the call wait times, they prompted that there was no one to help me and hung up. This is a obviously a company that does not care about customer service or even about backing up the product they sell. if i could give zero stars i would.

I had a problem with the delivery of my chair. I contacted the company and they in turn contacted ***. I had my chair the next day and they gave me a partial refund for my trouble. Beyond that, I love the chair. I'm short and most chairs are too deep and the headrest is to high. This one fits just right. I will certainly recommend this chair and this company to my friends.

I contacted Aosom and asked if it was on back order. They immediately acknowledge my email and let me know that it had been delivered a few days after it was ordered. They contacted ***,confirmed my address and said that it must have been lost or stolen AND that they would either send a replacement (with signature this time) or they would refund my money. Wow. No hassle. They are re-sending the product to my place of business. If the product is as good as the service, I will definitely be a repeat customer! Thank you.

I emailed customer service because my item was missing screws and hinges.This is very common in products assembled at home and I fully expected to maybe get a response in a few days and then the runaround and phone calls to various levels of management then eventually get the parts in a number of weeks and I was prepared for this but much to my surprise Timothy mailed me back within a few hours and informed me that the parts would not be available for a long time and gave me a full refund and told me I could keep the unit which costs almost 300 dollars! No company has ever been so responsive and generous to me and I have dealt with many over the years trust me they are number 1 and The quality of the products they sell is top notch I am a customer for life now .Thanks Aosom!

I am very happy the way Aosom handled the situation we had. We had ordered 2 pedal cars for Christmas and they did not get here even though we ordered them the first week of Dec, It seems that they were lost in transit. Then they were out of stock. They credited my account. They became available again the first week of January and we reordered them. We got the second order in 3 or 4 days as promised. Even though our grandsons did not get them for Christmas, they love the cars they got in January. Aosom gave us a little discount because of the problem and we appreciate that. As I said, the boys love the cars, As one other review said though, the assembly instructions leave a lot to be desired. We figured it out though, about 1/2 hr each for assembly time. Cars are well constructed of metal and plastic. One surprise was the wheels have actual bearings in them rather than plastic bearing sleeves.

I ordered an upholstered bench for my bed's end from a retailer. The first bench was lost in transit, but after contacting customer service, a replacement was sent and received. Within two months, the bench began to fray, which was disappointing given its infrequent use. Initially, the retailer offered a $60 credit on my $170 purchase, which I declined. After further discussion, they proposed an $85 credit, which I also rejected, requesting a replacement instead. The retailer agreed to replace the bench, and I am currently waiting for it. Although the initial offers were unsatisfactory, I am pleased with the final resolution. Kiki, the customer service representative, was helpful throughout the process. I'm hopeful the new bench will be more durable.

I ordered a pop up Gazebo from their website which cost me $209.50. This gazebo was advertised as any other item on their website, yet they had zero stock of the item even though they had none. I order the gazebo and receive no update until I called Aosom and spoke with them for 21min being told that the issue was fixed and they will email me when it's shipped. One day later I receive another email stating that they had an oversight and the item is actually out of stock and they will cancel my order and issue a refund. My problem is 2 fold. First, I ordered the item June 12 in order to receive it by fathers day being that it is a gift for my father, and now its Saturday the day before fathers day and not only have i not received the item, I can't even buy another one from a reputable company because Aosom's criminal staff still has my $209.50. My problem is the fact that when I made the purchase it immediately left my account,but when the refund is submitted I have to wait 3-5 business days?!?! This company completely ruined my fathers day plan by falsely advertising items they DON'T EVEN HAVE IN STOCK and by HOLDING MY MONEY HOSTAGE PREVENTING ME FROM BUYING ANOTHER! I hope the company burns down with no insurance.

I wish I could give zero stars. Ordered a canopy swing as a gift for my wife. Found out from my mother in law the swing was the wrong color and attempted to cancel the order 3 hours after I ordered it. I was told that the order had already gone too far to cancel(despite the short time frame) and that they would have to try to stop it. They didn't. Then i put a stop delivery through *** with a RTS(return to shipper) designation as per Aosom's "customer service". Then everyday requires a different stipulation for the refund process(they needed me to provide proof it's being returned, a tracking number, etc) and that's if their customer service answers you at all. I provided all of these things(i have documented proof of the entire process within my computer with screenshots and emails). I am now on day 7, they have the package back(I turned on *** text updates) i sent them a screenshot of the *** tracking showing that I am aware they have the package back and i still have no refund. They have completely stopped responding whatsoever. I would not recommend them to anybody. I would recommend you avoid their website altogether and not purchase from them. Their customer service is absolutely terrible and i am still out 267 dollars with no idea when or if i will ever be compensated. Stay away from Aosom.com

I ordered the 7 x 4 Metal Garden Storage Shed on 5/31 using a discount code from the Aosom LLC homepage, which was supposed to take $40 off my purchase. At checkout, I confirmed the discount was applied and proceeded with my payment. However, upon submission, the discount vanished and I was billed the full price. I attempted to resolve this on 6/1 but was met with an automated message stating no agents were available. My email request for help was acknowledged but not resolved. By 6/5, after speaking with customer service, I was informed the discount wasn't applicable to my purchase, contrary to what I saw online. They refused to credit the discount and advised me to reject the delivery. The item was delivered on 6/6 in my absence and left at my door. I am still trying to contact them for a return or to honor the discount, with no success.

Was a potential first time customer now you will never have me as a customer. I was going to place an order for a Gazebo over $200. On THEIR website on April 12 they had a promotion to share THEIR page on *** to get an 8% off promo code. I clicked on the *** link from THEIR website, shared THEIR page, and received an email from THEIR customer service email with a promo code that clearly said it was good until midnight April 14. I tested the promo code on the item I wanted to buy on April 12 and it worked but I did not complete checkout or go any further with my purchase as I wanted to confirm this purchase with my husband first. The next day on April 13 after discussing this purchase with my husband I went back to place my order and was told my promo code was wrong. I reached out to their chat and after waiting 30 min to get to a rep, I spoke to James. P. Now the real fun began. I clearly outlined my issue, provided a copy of the email I received with the promo code, a screenshot of my cart saying the promo code was wrong, and the SKU to the item I was trying to buy. First James said the SKU wasnt in their system.. I sent a screenshot showing the SKU on the product page on their website. Then I sent him the direct link to the Gazebo. He then asks me what promotion was this part of. How should I know? I again explained my by situation to him and let him know I was trying to use the promo code Aosom sent me that was supposed to be good until April 14 and that I had tested and it was working yesterday. He then replies back and tells me I received the promo code from an individual on *** and he could not honor it.. NO.. I received the code directly from customer service after clicking on the *** link on THEIR website, sharing the page from THEIR website, and sent to them directly from THEIR email. I pointed this out to James and he ignored it and then told me to use promo code ***. I had already tried to use this promo code as well and it did not work. James insisted it did work, I then had to send him another screenshot clearly showing the *** promo code did NOT work on the gazebo I wanted to buy.. All of this because of the slow response times from James has now taken us another 40 minish.Then James just tells me to call a number because he cant help me. I try to get clarification from James that phone support can actually help me before I waste another 1+ hour of my day on what should be a simple fix - just give me a working promo code and honor your email and the promotion you sent me. James again ignores my question and tells me I am welcome to report the company.. Well thank you James, I will.. so here I am leaving a review on the ComplaintsBoard.com. I will be reporting this company too for their shady advertising practices and for not honoring the promotional period in writing in the email I received. So your inept support, false advertising practices, and failure to resolve this issue has now cost you customer who was going to be spending hundreds with your company and now will never even look at you again. no support for installation and wrong size item received.
On 6-10-17 I purchased a outsunny 12x10 outdoor patio gazebo online from k-mart. Order # [protected] Sales ch # [protected]. I cannot get a support from Aosom for the installation instructions or the installation department. I have tried several times thou e-mail and got 1 response asking for more information and that information was return e-mailed on 6-30-17. No response to that e-mail from the rep Jeff at Assam customer service. Also believe the wrong size gazebo was shipped to me. Cannot return it as I have already installed it except for the privacy panels that I wanted better instructions to install. Instruction booklet with original package had no panel installation instructions. I believe I should be due a refund of so kind as there no mention of a 8x10 gazebo available with panels. Panel size dimensions add up for a 8x10 size not 12x10 as advertised. Panels are only 114 inches long.

I purchased this item in blue/grey color scheme. Shipped to my home in six days via FedEx Home delivery. Comes mostly assembled, you must unfold the main carriage (folds for storage in same manner), insert wheels into axle (a light rubber mallet helps but is not necessary) and inflate tires, set top cross support bar with cotter pins, insert handle into frame (slides in and secures with spring-loaded hardware), insert side bumper rails (same as handle), and insert brake cable into caliper retaining nuts and adjust. They send all needed tools. I had mine up and running in less than 45 minutes. Works very well. I would definitely buy one again.
