Our daughter Shree Mukherjee was suffering from repeated caugh and cold infection, vomiting, lethargy and loosing interest in all daily activities. She was under supervision of Dr. Anjan Bhattacharya (Apollo Gleneagles hospital, kolkata) since February 2010 as well as she had been checked with Dr. Amitava Pahari (Apollo Gleneagles hospital, kolkata) and Dr. Apurba Ghosh (Clinical Paediatric) from March 2011 onwards. All of them treated her with allergic infection without doing any single blood test. She has died on Sept.12, 2011. On that day it has been found she was suffering from leukemia. Her hemoglobin was 4.4.in every alternate month we use to take her for checkup and doctor asked to continue Atopy Treatment. We don't know what is our fault and why none of the doctors have asked to do any blood test. We are bereaved parents. We lost our beautiful and lively daughter, who is just 7 yrs. of old. Our simple question who is responsible for such miserable death? We want no other parent to face such miserable situation.

I don't have words to express the grief.
Wrong Treatment is very common here. Probably this is the standard of medical treatment quality in expensive private Hospitals in Kolkata, forget about cheaper & govt hospitals. Lost my trust on 'so called' reputed doctors and hospitals here. Feel helpless in case of illness ...

Sorry to hear this. People treat all these so called Dr.'s like God and as return they do not concentrate to serve people, just concentrate on how to get more money.

My heart goes out to you and your family.
I have very bad experience with Dr. Apurba Ghosh(Clinical Paediatric). I have never met such ill mannered, unprofessional doctor. Please sue them on malpractice suit.

I am really sorry to hear about your loss. There is nothing more painful for a parent than losing their young child. I hope the doctors get sued for the malpractice

Don't have any words to express my condolence ! This is the time to simply f*** those bloody doctors'. They are running their business & making money such a pathetic way. Ohhh God ! How is it possible, neither a single doctor couldn't find out the actual disease ? Please consult with an attorney right now to take a drastic action against all of them.

My heart felt sympathies go to you. How come these doctors don't have a procedure/checklist of what to look for? They are either too arrogant/focussed on money, I think. Please consider suing them so that they will come to their senses.

My heart felt sympathies go to you. Please file a consumer complaint and medical negligence case. This will not replace what you have lost,
but will help to stop future cases of negligence.

Hi Suman, my heart felt sympathies. May God give you the strength to fight the situation. Even if your loss cannot be replaced, you can file complaint at consumer forum or whatever applicable as rightly said by some people here.

Suman...knowing both of you and having a daughter ourselves, I still won't be able to comprehend the depth of your loss. The doctors involved in ur daughter's treatment should be punished by law.

sumanda, this is susmita. i am Ranjit's wife, if u recollect ranjit used to be in IISC, bangalore few years back and knows u and baishali from then. we came to know about this unfortunate incident only alst night through a bengali TV channel in news. it is unfortunae and couldhave been avoided if some where some one would have done his/her job without negligence. treatment in india specially in kolkata is still not upto the international standard. i strongly feel u both shd fight for shree irrespective of thinking abt the outcome. we as parents are with u and will remain with u till the end. have you filed any case/legal action against the specific doctors? if not then we shd immediately do this along with the campaign through social networking sites. i also came know (Baishali's blog) that u both have a son so even it is tough but pl take good care of his physical and mental health. lastly have faith in God! it might be late but justice has to come and i am sure it will come. do let us know for any help and we will be there, i mean it. i m running out of words but pl take care of u nd baishali! remain strong.

My sympathies to you. But if you will check internet you will find so many complaints against Apollo along with the case history. Till the time our near one is in the hospital we cannot raise our voice for fear of treatment going wrong. And afterwards when things goes wrong we fight for justice and the verdict comes out with a big Zero wherein doctors prove themselves right. Even if you are going to the court you wont be able to get justice. Hence i request all the peoples who suffered should unite together create a forum and post as much blog and hate emails as you can so that general public get aware of the facts.

No not indian people. Indian Doctors who are running after money. Although they are into service industry, they dont know actually what is the meaning of service or how to deliver a service. Their aim is to make money each time they pay a visit to the patient, fool around with realatives and just utter the statement "Give me some time to observe the patient and Keep faith on me". and when thing go wrong they say I am not the God or you cannot predict the result. Just a bunch on ###s. Thats it!

Dear Dr. Mukherjee,

Dr. Dipankar Ganguly, Director Medical Services of Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals had responded in writing to your complaint on Oct 14, 2011 and again on Nov 1, 2011. We trust you have received both the correspondences. In his last reply, Dr Ganguly had requested a meeting with you as per your convenience to discuss this matter further.

With deepest sympathy and sincere condolence,

My heart bleeds for Shree and her family. In fact I know Dr Anjan Bhattacharyya for the last couple of years very well, as my child is under his treatment. Our experience is not good. According to my observation there are certain points as follows
1.Many times he does not iterate to convey the tests to be done at proper time.
2.Many times he passes sarcastic remarks to us. Also he is very keen to demonstrate mistakes of the parents (of course he will do it), but don’t care about his own mistakes.
3. Many times he carries on conversations which are completely irrelevant to us (at least at that point of time when they are anxious and seeking help for their child)
4. He often misjudge the intelligence level of the people related with patient and conclude wrong decisions and pass disrespectful remarks on their credentials which is completely unnecessary
5. He is dealing with mental and physical health of so many children but firstly his mental health have to checked because he is extremely egotist and a very complicated personality which can do big harm to the children (the future of our motherland INDIA)

There are many other points…..but it will be a story.
I think the hospital authorities should intervene in these matters and command Dr Anjan Bhattacharyya to behave properly with the patient parties and to give them a minimum respect.
Remember that, he is a doctor, not a predator and the patient parties (which includes the child) are not prey.
I am afraid to disclose my child's name and registration no because of his vengeful mind. It's very difficult to trust him.

I know both Dr. Anajn and Dr. Apurbo...very well...they are shame in the name of doctors...a lot can be said...
I can feel your pain... but it is good that you have posted the news through different medias to make other parents aware...
Shree is resting in peace...may god bless her...

My son has been under the treatment of Dr Amitabh Pahari for 5 years. I can tell you that he is not even 10 % of what he pretends. Bad behavior, less knowledge are his hallmark. Despite having full fees, he is at pains to explain even what he prescribes to his patients. Apollo Hospital Kolkata in general is a low standard hospital in Kolkata. Please dont trust these thugs like Dr Pahari. I shifted the treatment of my son to some where else. I deeply condole the loss that you have suffered.
