Asurion phone insurance

I purchase a Samsung Rogue with 2 year contract on 2/23/10. At that time I purchased the Asurion Verizon Total Equipment Coverage for $8.00 per month. The policy claimed, total equipent coverage, no deductibles, and free overnight shipping.

On May 21 the Rogue touch screen went black so I called the insurance. The Asurion Policy and phone recording says next day shipment of replacement phone. I was told a replacement phone was on backorder with no other options. I was assured the phone would be shipped within 7 days. I waited 7 days and no phone, and then called Asurion again. I was then told that the Samsung Rogue was no longer being made, and I could wait for a re-furbished Rogue, or I could have the LG NV Touch. I requested the NV Touch since I did not want to wait indefinitely for a refurbished phone. The charge, or deductible, for the new replacement phone was $89.00 bacause Asurian assumes physical damage, and not warranty phone defect. The NV phone arrived next day, and within 12 hours did not work. The inside phone screen went blank and is not usable. I called Asurian again. I was asked if I had physically damaged my new (less than 12 hours old) phone - remember they always assume physcial damage, and do not accept that the phone is faulty because they want to charge another deductible. I was told not to worry the phone was under warranty. I am currently waiting for a 2nd replacement phone.

So $40 for insurance over 5 months, and an $89.00 deductible and I still do not have a phone that works and I placed the claim over 2 weeks ago. The Asurian advertisements are false and the company does nothing but waste your time.

Beware of $89 deductibles, backorders, refurbished phones that do pass any quality control, and the run-a-round. In the end, my advice is to skip the insurance, and when your phone breaks take it back to the Verizon store. Also, beware of Touch Screen phones they are not as durable as other phones I had in the past.

Asurion claims

Asurion BLOWS. They make it impossible to talk to a live person. I opened a claim on their website (www.phoneclaim.com) when I lost my phone. That night I found it, so being the OCD mother###er that I am, I thought I would go cancel the claim. The website wouldn’t allow me to do it, they had no contact info and the phone system wouldn’t transfer me to a person.

Eventually I was like why am I bothering, I got my phone back, but I was curious just how horrible Asurion really was, so my quest continued. I called Sprint (my carrier…I know) and explained my difficulty getting a rep on the phone, and they transferred me to guess what, the Asurion automated phone system. I could have sworn I just explained to the Sprint rep that I needed a warm transfer to a person with a pulse (I didn’t say it like that; I was polite on the phone).

So I hang up and call back, and the Sprint rep warm transfers me to a chick named Maria who had an accent so thick I almost asked for a translator. Finally she tells me I can’t close my claim, it would automatically cancel after 60 days. I asked her what would happen if my phone was lost or stolen, and she couldn’t confirm that I would be able to use my insurance during that timeframe, even though I’m still paying for it.

But I do have good news. Regardless of which carrier you use, there is a way to work their system and get them to send you and upgrade instead of the same phone. I never would’ve considered revealing it to the universe if they hadn’t pissed me off so badly. If you want to know the technique, email me at [protected]@yahoo.com.

I received a phone and not even 48hrs later it started freezing and shutting off. I paid 99 bucks for a phone that costs less than 50 not including all the years I had the insurance hut never filed a claim.

People, people, people. It is called Insurance. Have any of you ever looked on your carriers web site under wireless insurance to see what the policy covers. Gee, when you get your sell phone your carrier is giving you a large discount on the price of the phone to get you to contract with them.

Now come on a $50.00 deductible is reasonable considering the real cost of the phone and your replacement is shipped Fed ex overnight (a cost of about $20.00 you don't pay). Let's take an example. A Blaxkberry curve 8310 at AT&T costs without a contract $349.99. You pay a deductible of $50.00 to get it replaced. So the insurance saved tou 299.99. Your premium is 4.99 per month, about $60.00 per year Thus you would have to pay premiumas for almost 5 years to make the difference.

People insurance is just that insurance. You may never use it or you may use it. Do any of you pay a Co-pay when you go to your Doctor?

Let's be real people. We need to be responsible for knowing what our insurance covers. When you file a claim they can leave it open for up to 60 days while you research any different replacement phone they want to send you.

Step up be responsible. Stop trying to get something for nothing and acting like a victim. Your grandparents didn't do it during the depression so whay are you doing it over a freaking cell phone.

I was in the process of claiming my phone as well on Asurion, I did not pay for the claim yet because I had seen that the service as well as the phones suck. I was wondering if there was a way to cancel my claim since I had not payed for it anyways? Or should I just wait 60 days?

my mother has received 3 refurb phones thru asurion with sprint (in 1 yr due to her damaging and losing them) and she has not had a problem with either refurb. i received one thru tmobile asurion before and yet not problem. here's the rundown
asurion sends out new and refurb phones
all phones come with a one yr warranty thru asurion
u have 60 days to file a claim for a lost/stolen/damaged phone. why would you wait 8 months to report it? there are certain circumstances where over 60 days it can be waived
once a claim is started but not finished it will remain open for up to 180 days (6 months)
you have 2 wks to send back the damaged phone. plenty of time to transfer all info

soooo...there you are.

i have to agree...the insurance policy..any insurance policy for that matter does state some type of deductible you have to pay. the only insurance where there is no deductible is life insurance. for anyone who doesn't know the insurance policy for all carriers is available online at phoneclaim.com. a lot of misconception is "well i pay monthly for insurance therefore my phone should be free." apply that to health insurance. "well i pay monthly for insurance therefore my healthcare should be free." really? try saying that when it comes time to pay that copay at your doctor's office. let's face reality...there will always be a deductible for any type of insurance no matter what. now the amount of your deductible does depend on your carrier. i do know the highest deductibles are with tmobile followed by att, sprint, and then verizon. i just know the major cell phone carriers but no the minor. anyway if ppl researched they would have nothing to complain about.like someone else already stated above...nothing in this world is free.

Customers that have complaints because they didnt know they had to pay a deductible are just plain ignorant and irresponsible. They must get informed before getting the insurance. No one forces them to get the asurion insurance. That is their decision if they want it. If they get it, then they have to read their policy. Although I would like to admit that Asurion does tell the customer to send the damaged phone so IT can be refurbished to send to future customers. This is in the policy as well- You will either receive a refurbished or new phone, which ever one is available. So if you read your policy there is no reason to make any complaints, unless if he Representative that is handling your claim is being rude. But thats it! READ YOUR POLICY! Nothing in this world is free. If you didnt like the insurance then you should have not gotten it in the first place. If anyone gets mad because I posted this is becasue you are recognizing that what I wrote is true, and you need to get informed on your own. We are all adults here, right?

What do you own the insurance company or have a great deal of stock in them? Your comment is very one-sided. Insurance is a cooperative and it is a great way for all of us to feel safe. We all pay the $5 premium not knowing whether we will use it or not. Add to that the deductible and you are essentially paying for your own phone. I mean, what are the percentage of phones that are claimed as lost, stolen, or broken? It's probably less than 1%. The other 99% are paying premiums and not filing a claim. Don't make me do the math for you or reasearch claim rates. It all adds up to huge profits for the insurance companies. When you do need to use it, you expect professionalism, responsiveness, and a sense of urgency. Assurion sends substandard, refurbished sets which they get for peanuts to try to maximize their profits. They don't ship when they are supposed to. They want you to send them your old phone (so they can refurbish that one too). That makes it very difficult to transfer your contacts. The only convenience is that you don't have to shell out a big amount to replace a phone. With all of the inconveniences of filing a claim and dealing with crappy refurbs and not having the ability to upgrade to the latest phone; We are better off saving the money ourselves and buying a new phone when needed. That way you aren't at the mercy of the insurance companies process. In other types of loss with substantial capital involved, it makes total sense to be insured. But, cell phones, is probably the best area where consumers should be self-insured and put these rip-off sub-standard service companies out of business. Assurion sucks!

Asurion 5 replacement phones awaiting the 6th 10 days

I had my cell phone stolen March 11th 2010, it is now April 16th. I have received 5 cell phones which have not worked properly or have been down right unuseable due to the fact that they sent me remanufactured ones from Korea without proper ID #'s. I have been awaiting my 6th phone for 10 days and the "operations specialist" who phoned me back last week lied and said they were going to send me a new phone, so I phoned them back and I am awaiting another "operations specialist" to phone me back again. They clearly stated how sorry they were, "assured" me someone whould phone me back, it took 3 days for the first one and this week it has been 10 days. I have been awaiting my 6TH phone and they said that they can only replace 7 phones and then my claim is released from seervice. Everytime I call, which over the past month has taken 25 + mins of my time each time, I get the run around and apologies, however NOTHING has been done to "assure" me this will not happen again, in fact they seem to care less each time! I LOVE Sprint and have been with them for 10 yrs, but if this is the only way I can get a replacement phone?!?! NOT WORTH IT! AND I PAID 100 bucks for this CRAP! Good luck to anyone who deals with them! One CS rep told me to go and buy a new PHONE! DON'T but the equiptment replacement program unless you are prepared for the risk of BS for a month of your life!

Asurion bad refurnished phone

After making a claim for a lost phone, my phone carrier's insurance company, asurion, shipped me a replacement (Palm centro). Since I regularly sync my phone with my laptop and back up my address book, I synced the refurnished phone asurion shipped me to restore my address book on the new phone. Once I connected the phone using the usb craddle cable, smoke came out of my usb portale from my laptop, frying my motherboard. I went to the neareast sprint store were I explained to the tech what had happened. To verify he connected the phone and got an error message that the phone had a power surge coming from it and causing the computer not to sync. They said the phone was bad and I had to do another claim with asurion. I contacted asurion and they would not take any responsibilty for my computer. They did however ship me another phone and when I receive it the keyboard was falling off. So I did another claim. I, however did do a formal complained with a buddy who is a lawyer for the damage to my computer. I have still to hear from them on a compensation.

Asurion false promise to replace phone

My daughter's cell phone face was damaged when she slipped on the ice. We went to the Sprint Store (We have insurance through Sprint Asurion) spoke with the Service Rep he placed the claim, I paid $100, and he said it would come in the mail. Two weeks went by and they sent us a red phone (not the same orange phone replacement). I emailed Asurion that they had sent the wrong color. The agent said he was sorry and they would send the correct one out. Two more weeks went by and another red phone came. I called Assurion and after a very, very frusttrating 45 minutes I was told they don't guarantee the correct color. I asked them to refund my money. They said they cannot do that because they are not responsible. Why didn't the Sprint representative and the first Asurion customer service reps tell me it was not refundable? It was only after a month of receiving the wrong color phones that they said it was non-refundable and they were not responsible to provide the same phone. Why do I pay insurace and why was the story changed over time. They were the rudest people and company I have ever dealt with. I have since cancelled my cell phone insurance. If I have to pay outrageous fees to get a phone fixed or replaced, I'll buy a new one.

Asurion phone replacement

They TWICE sent me broken blackberries. The first one, a Blackberry Curve 8330 which I brought straight to the Sprint store to get my numbers transferred had a broken USB port (they claimed to have sent me a new one, not refurbished). The second one they sent me, also new- not refurbished they claim, a Blackberry 8830 World Edition (which is an absolute piece of ###) was sent to me because my original curve was on backorder for 10 DAYS. Now my second phone, which is different from my original, is not working properly and Asurion refuses to replace my phone with my original model. It has been an absolute nightmare and giant waste of my time dealing with these scam artists. Oh, did I mention I paid the $100 deductible in full for the first broken phone? It's non-refundable.

BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT EVER EVER GET THIS INSURANCE UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU CAN NAVIGATE THROUGH THEIR SHADY BUSINESS PROCEDURES.

If you want the short and simple, ignore my story

MY TIPS FOR YOU:
1) make sure you read the contract agreement
Asurion only covers the phone you first sign up with. The conditions are you have to be using that phone(kinda obvious) and that it's the phone you bought from your provider.
2) take a picture of the back of your phone w/o the battery & cover, it has to display the IMEI # clearly.
This is one of the accepted 'proof of ownership' they accept. I lost my phone so I didn't have this option.
3) call and make sure they get all your documentation, do not let them push you around
They are shady, read the asurion reviews of people who worked there. Most of them will tell you how Asurion workers are told to lie to customers.
4) make copies of your documents and keep them on file with all your information(claim id etc), this makes the process faster.

MY STORY:
Asurion has gotten worse. The first time I lost my phone, there were hardly any hassles or problems, and they replaced my phone quickly. However, now that the economy is getting worse, they're beginning to show their true colors. I filed a phone claim, which is usually done online and over the phone. However, they decided to have me fill out a hardcopy and either fax it in or mail it in. I don't have a fax machine, and it costs $2 per page to fax at UPS, so I mailed the documents. I waited a while and called back to find that everything checked out except my proof of ownership. Initially I considered this my fault and resubmitted the application along with the requested documentation. They wanted the IMEI number on the back of the phone, but apparently simply giving that number over the phone is not good enough. I spent a hour at a t-mobile store trying to something acceptable, and got a device history, which was 'acceptable' by T-mobile sales associate standards, I faxed that over. Hours later, I was rejected, saying that those forms were incorrect. I got a store receipt and faxed that over twice, both times stating that they did(the 'documentation' department) did not receive such documents. I finally did it a third time. Hours later I got a call back, and in my mind I believed I'd finally made it through, but no, some other person tells me that I've been filing for a different phone, a razor or some such phone I've never owned or used. I correct the person, he comes back and says nokia n75, I corrected him AGAIN, and finally he comes back saying that the phone claim I filed for was rejected again. Not only that, but because I had filed more than 2 times, they will not accept anymore phone claims for the lost phone...that's very shaddy.

Keep in mind this was about the 10th time I called, and the 15th person I'd spoken with. Finally after being frustrated out of my mind, I was transferred to the CSO, apparently the highest authority figure in the company (turns out Kenya was her name and she 'spoke on behalf' of the CEO). Her statement was that I should have read the contract more carefully and that they couldn't replace my phone, and that they would not accept anymore claims from me. Also, I had switched my phone, which they didn't cover. They had to wait an entire month to tell me that oh, by the way, your phone is uninsured. I went through all of that crap for nothing, essentially. I also lost a years worth of insurance money(like $70) because their premium is non-refundable..wtf

Asurion rip off

As per contract and replacement policy replacement phones found to be defective will be replaced with out a deductible for 1 year. BUT any fault deemed to be abuse requires a new claim and a $50 deductible. Pretty straight forward...
Until you actually try to make a claim...
My replacement phone began to have charging issues, although the cable seemed to fit snuggly somtimes it charged somtimes not. took to Verizon and was told the charging port was defective, called Asurion and was told it is not covered because it is abuse, when asked how they determine that was told if you can wiggle the cord and it works sometimes it's not covered... Being a electronics service tech for 20 years this kind of lying inadequate service is unacceptable.

Asurion are complete scam artists, and they should be put out of business. why do decent cell phone companies associate themselves with such low life thieves?
DO NOT USE ASURION! THEY LIE! I lost my cell phone and after 10 years with Verizon, finally made a claim. Asurion treated me like a damn criminal, made me send them copies of my drivers license, credit card (are they stealing peoples identity?) and DENIED REPLACING MY PHONE.
They charge you 8.99 a month, want $89.99 "deductible", then, after giving them all of your personal information and faxing affidavits, sworn testimonies...maybe, maybe, they might send you a "refurbished" piece of sht that will certainly break down within weeks, thus starting the money sucking cycle again.

for replacement phones sent out by the company just call the claims center and explain to the agent that the phone will no longer charge. they should then transfer you to asurion tech support. when you get to that department they will ask you a series of questions and then attempt to troubleshoot the phone. after that if they determine it won't charge they will set up a next day delivery at no additional cost and the only thing you have to do is sent the defective replacemet phone back in the envelope that will come with the new phone. as long as the phone is still under the yr warranty with asurion then you should be ok. let me know if this helps and if you were able to do it.

omg now i work with asurion doing verizon claims and this is the policy:
from what we were told, if the phone no longer holds a charge it was supposed to be covered under warranty which means you get another phone through verizon because the warranty covers malfunctions. now we were told that a phone no longer charging was considered a malfunction...until recently. i have personally spoken with a few verizon reps wondering why they are not honoring a warranty in this situation and now verizon claims that is no longer covered by warranty. they never stated why. so your best bet if you havent filed a claim is to do it online because if you call the asurion number there is no telling where your call will get routed to. there is more than one verizon call center in diff states and you may not come across a rep like me. i would file the claim for you but not every rep will. here is what you do...
go online to phoneclaim.com/verizon
when you start a claim list the peril as damaged and then you type into the space provided that the charging port is damaged because it is. then you go from there! let me know if that helps!

Asurion asurion cell phone insurance

Do not purchase Cell Phone insurance. The only carrier is Asurion. They will take your monthly premium, but when you need to replace your phone, you will be denied. My daughter's phone was lost. I filed a claim after having the service suspended with T-Mobile. I have been at this for over a week now. I have had to file 4 different claims so far because I didn't dot and i or cross a t correctly on the first 2. After being told yesterday that I was denied because the SIM card is what is covered, not the actual phone and her SIM card is showing still active (duh - service is supended by T-Mobile), I sent an email the the CEO of Asurion. This moring I received a reply email from a "Representative" of the CEO's office asking me to call her. I called and surprise - I had to leave a message. I'm sure I will not get a call back from her today. T-Mobile has even called them and emailed them for me, to no avail. I told Mr. CEO - Bret Comolli, that Asurion had met their match, I will not give up until I have a new G1 for my daughter. I paid $360 for that phone in July and I expect Asurion to make it good. If anyone else out there needs to contact Mr. CEO, his email address is [protected]@asurion.com. DON'T WASTE YOUR $6 PER MONTH ON ASURION, PUT IT AWAY IN YOUR SAVINGS ACCOUNT AND JUST BUY A NEW PHONE WHEN SOMETHING HAPPENS TO YOUR CURRENT ONE.

Seems that Asurion is showing a "repetitive pattern of dis-service, " [Case & Point], on...Dec 2016 after purchasing (3) IPhone 7 in CA., for the business after not upgrading for approx., 7-10 yrs., and not being aware or told the IPhones had been activated, not under the requested "business status, " but personal and lastly what the deductible amt., was including calls must transpire on devices before any claim will be valid. Unfortunately, all phones were stolen and once I proceeded to file a claim to pay the deductible amt., after phones were reported stolen the night of purchase the following day or two, only to be told by the Asurion Representative; "the claim is not valid because no calls were made on the device(s) prior loss, etc." However, after informing Asurion that the SPRINT Sales Rep never informed me the phones had been activated, I was unaware which resulted in a failure to inform or simple omission, Asurion got authorization and overruled making the claim status "VALID, " then shortly thereafter, I attempted to call-back with my credit card info to pay the deductible, another Asurion Rep (AR) indicated the claim was not valid, placing it back in the original status, citing the same reason as above... "[due to not making any calls on the device -- prior loss]." This odd & peculiar "repetitive Asurion Claims Denial Pattern" continued to play out on...(2-3) separate occasions (Dec., Feb. & Mar.) re not valid, getting authorization & over-ruling to process claim to not being valid again! After speaking with Catina (AR) with Kayt (SPRINT Rep) being on a 3-way call to rectify this "bizarre" Asurion episode, Catina (AR) indicated; "she could see that the claim had been authorized during (Dec. 2016 & Feb. 2017), however, could not explain based on the lack of data, explain why the status to pay the deductible to process the claim continues to be denied. There are obvious shortcomings with the apparent and deliberate willingness to process claims in a "good-faith" manner, considering the fact that Annette (AR) in Care Solutions Dept., on...3/29/17 indicated after reviewing the records in its totality falsely asserted that; "Asurion has never authorized the claim to be valid, " which was a "STUNNING" revelation to hear her make such a open comment that was 1) counter-intuitive to their verbal admission of verifying (Dec./Feb.) approval and 2) hard-evidence of Sworn Affidavit & Proof of Loss (SAPOL) Statement previously submitted to process the claim after I received a follow up email from ASURION request. And not to mention that SPRINT continues to send a "ERRONEOUS" billing statement initially...$500 plus dollars which was rescinded after informing them the phones have never been replaced due to ongoing Asurion -- authorization approval & denial of bizarre..."inexplicable" claim patterns.///

I paid $350 for replacement phones for my 2 kids. The phones were stolen from the airport and now they're telling me the can't replace my phones or return my money. Now I was approved and the phones were to be sent to me the next day. I waited for the phones and the never came. So I call asurion to see what happened. They tell me my shipment was stopped in mid process because they said it was fraud. I've never made a claim with them in my life, and when I asked how they came to the conclusion of fraud they tell me that's confidential. Straight BS. I won't pay them another dime.

Asurion is such a rip off and all the mobile phone carriers are all in it with them. T -Mobile of course it at the top of the list. They lost over 225, 000 customers last quarter and it's just going to keep growing. I've had a phone with suncom/t-mobile since 2001. I've carried the insurance the whole time . Boy was I dumb. Anyway, a few months ago my v8 razr cracked and I went through so much just to finally get the claim approved it would take me months just to tell that side of the story. So I finally get it approved and guess what? The only phones they will replace it with are junk phones that are so outdated no one even buys them anymore. My "defective" phone is years ahead of these phones and on top of that I would have to pay $40.00 to get it. I wouldn't pay $1.00 for one of these replacement phones. The CEO's office is suppose to contact me on Monday 9-24-12. I'm sure that will really give me satisfaction. Like the gentleman said above DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON INSURANCE.

Asurion asurion rips you off

Asurion is a company which provides cell phone insurance in case you drop or loose your phone.

What the cell phone company tech will never tell you is that there is a deductable for the phone.

For me I pay $6 a month for my phone. I have paid $72 so far to the them and now that I need my phone replaced I need to pay a deductable of $130 for a replacement!

The phone I need replaced costs only $120.

What a ###ing rip off. The people who run this company should be strung up from their thumbs and then drawn and quartered. What a rip off. They are thieves. They are only stealing money from people.

First, you're an idiot if you didn't think there'd be a deductible. Yea, it sucks that the phone rep didn't tell you--I hate when they hide things from me--but if you were smart you would have looked in the literature they gave you. If they didn't give you literature, you should have been smart and asked for it.

It's actually NOT a rip off if you're someone who might accidentally break or lose your phone. I personally have used my insurance about 5 times and it's more than worth it. For Sprint, my windows mobile phone has a deductible of $100. Considering the phone is $600 new, that's amazing. So $4 monthly charge times 12 months plus $100 deductible is only $148 for a BRAND NEW (sometimes refurbished, but only once for me) phone. And TWO of those times, they didnt' sell the phone I put a claim in for so I got the next version--so basically a CHEAP upgrade to a much better phone! I'd say that's far from them thieving me, wouldn't you?

Oh, and my Sprint representative did tell me of the deductible. So just because your phone rep didn't for you, don't complain here and tell everybody that their reps will lie to them, too.

So, instead of complaining online about a company that runs a very legitimate business, you should just look in the mirror and admit you were an idiot for not making sure you were clear to the terms. Then call yourself an idiot for thinking you need to pay the $130 deductible when you can just buy your new phone for $120. Idiot.

your deductible is high which means you are either a tmobile customer or at&t customer since they have the highest deductibles

i do know that when you sign up for insurance your carrier is supposed to supply you with the insurance brochure which does have the information regarding deductible prices. your carrier technically is not responsible for telling you there is a deductible if they give you a pamphlet and you read it, but it would be nice for them to mention it as they tend not to. a lot of misconception is that wireless insurance is not real so the phone is free when in fact it is just like every other insurance that requires deductibles...health insurance where you pay a copay to see the doc, car insurance (full coverage) when you get into an accident and the company assess the damage, tells you how much they will pay then give you a number to pay in order to meet them, homeowner's insurance, flood insurance, fire insurance, whatever. all have a deductible except life insurance. that's just insurance period.

i can understand your point of view of having to pay the deductible that's more than what you paid for the phone. my phone was FREE with a new 2 yr contract with my carrier, yet my deductible is $100 should i need to file a claim. i don't wanna pay that! but what i came to understand is that the deductible is based on the retail price/value of your phone. so even if you paid x amount of dollars, the actual retail price was most likely much higher. the more advanced your phone is the higher your deductible. keep in mind that depending on your carrier, asurion is underwritten by someone else. i know with sprint they are underwritten by liberty mutual i believe and with verizon wireless they are underwritten by cna i think? anyway if you want to check out your program brochure go to phoneclaim.com/(your carrier) and everything is available on the site or you can ask me. my mother has been working with insurance my whole life (24 yrs) so im hip to it. i tend to research insurance companies before i use them. currently it's full coverage for car insurance so if you have any suggestions to that im open pls let me know

it's btwn geico and allstate right now

Is the $120 the cost with or without a contract? I know that the contracted price is substantially lower which is why it is nice to have the insurance.

Asurion poor customer service

I purchased a Gateway Computer from Hsn in May of 2007. I first had a problem with this computer in 2009. They sent a technician in from Barrister Electronic their warranty people. The technician wiped out my entire computer. I had to send my computer to Louisianna to Barrister. Now my monitor is out an I called Dec. 16 to report the problem. I had to call Barrister and they gave me the run around. I found out that Barrister cannot repair my computer. Hsn protection plus is dragging their feet about replacing my computer. As of today Jan. 6, 2010 they have not given me a resolution.

We used our Assurion insurance to get a replacement phone when one of our cell phones was damaged. The phone they sent was completely defective. It is my daughter's phone and she took it back to Verizon 3 times to try to figure out what was wrong and they told her it couldn't be fixed and that it was a faulty phone. When I called Assurion to try to get another replacement, I was given the run around...spent over an hour on the phone...most of that time on hold, trying to take care of the situation. They would do NOTHING for me because the phone was with my daughter and not with me. My daughter lives an hour away...has no other phone to call them from and no car to go anywhere to be able to call them...they said that was too bad, and that we would have to wait until the next time we were together and call back.

They asked few questions based on public information as they said, the information could be 20 to 30 yrs. They said I failed on the question, the claim is denied. That is just funny, and the question is decided to let people fail. so they do not have to pay the claim. why, because these public information is not verified independently. They could have wrong information at first.

There are three questions

1. which county where you owned property, then give me about 5 different county name to choose.
2. which street name, you lived from 5 different street, I should pick one
3. Nan Ma, men, then give me 5 different age group to choose. I never know that man.

They said it is from public information, they did not verify, and could be 20-30 yrs old.

Then they asked me to talk to T-mobile, I went to T-mobile story, T-mobile says nothing they can do about. so I call them from T-mobile store. They then said someone will review my claim, and contact me within 24 hrs. Why they ask me to talk to T-mobile at first ?

When T-mobile sold the insurance to me, did not mention over $100 deducible. T-mobile probably is guilty too. I would not buy insurance from them if T-mobile does not sell it.

They sent me a Motorola phone that had been RETURNED 11 TIMES PRIOR TO ME! I called them and said the phone had been malfunctioning after I filed a claim online and two days later they did nothing. The phone had been cutting off for a month for no reason. An hour after I filed the report I took the battery out to reset the phone and the clip that held the back on went flying throug the air! The lady I spoke to on the phone said I had to pay the $50 again because I broke it. I said it had been malunctioning for a month and it broke because it was already refurbishied and not because I did anything to it. ASURION REFUSED TO REPLACE IT AND I LAID INTO THAT THEIF ON THE PHONE TOO!

I then went to VERIZON and made them call and say send me a new phone! The lady at Verizon said they were to inspect if first. They looked and the indicator had shown WATER DAMAGE. I said it has never been near water. She said it is ok. I RAN THE SERIAL NUMBER AND THEY HAVE SENT THAT PHONE OUT 12 TIMES ALREADY! So I find out they sent me an already water damaged phone and they have sent it out to 11 other people. ASURION ordered me to pay $50 on top of the $7 a month to replace a phone that had been replaced 11 other times...

12 times my(hehe) This phone serial #DEC [protected] MODEL VX 8700

If they send it out 12 times and they get just 50% to return it and pay $50 that is $600
then you say they only had insurance 1 year *12 peeps * $84 year - $1008

That is a total of $1608 of of one phone! That is only if 50% and 1 yr...I LOW BALLED IT!

THEY ARE CROCKS AND THIS IS AS BAD AS THAT OCEAN FRONT PROPERTY IN ARIZONA I BOUGHT!

Asurion is a total ripoff. October 10/23/09 I filed a claim for a replacment phone as mine had just quit working. I paid the $50 fee and I recieved a refurbished phone from asurion the next day. The phone worked great until 12/20/09. Then it started to just FALL APART! I brought it down to our local Alltel store. They looked at it and said, "Wow, looks like they sent you a defective phone. There is no physical damage, (not surprising as we use this phone as our home phone and it never leaves the house) Give asurion a call and they should be able to get you a new one coming as this one is obviously defective" Alltel gave me asurions phone number. I then called asurion...after being switched around to 3 people I finally spoke to a lady and explained to her the situation. She told me I would need to get the numbers off of the bottom the the phone, and the color of the sticker on the bottom of the phone, call her back, and they would send me another phone as this one was defective. (I did not have the phone on me as it was at home)I asked her if she had an extension number so I could speak to her directly as I did not want to explain all of this again. She told me she would note the account and whoever I got could take it from there. I got the numers, the color of the sticker, and called back again...the next person I spoke to was a supervisor...he told me the exact opposite as the lady I spoke to! I explained to him I was instructed to get the numbers off of the phone, the color of the sticker, and they would get me a new phone coming. He told me he had no idea why she would tell me to do so. He apolagized for the inconvinence, but that information did him no good. Their policy was if it was past 6 days, I had to file another claim and pay them another $50 of MY hard earned money! Are you kidding me? I pay 5.99 a month for this insurance, pay a $50 fee, asurion sends me a defective REFURBISHED phone, and they want me to pay another $50 of my money to get another refurbished phone? Asurion is a complete 100% joke. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! If you can afford to put away a couple extra bucks a month, do that instead of giving it to these people. They will walk all over you. They don't care about their customers or service. Check around on the net. I agree people generally complain more than they need to, but the only people that think asurion is a great company, are the people that work for them. Please don't get scammed like the rest of us...

Asurion simply awful

In November of 2008 I was sent a replacement phone under warranty. Since my defective phone was no longer available Asurion sent me a Samsung Blast. This phone did not hold a charge for long. When it finally dropped to less than 24 hrs., I called and requested a new battery. The new battery did not help. I requested a phone that would work. They sent another Samsung blast, and it was even worse. I took it off the charger at 7 am, it dropped to only 2 bars by 9 am, and to one bar by 1 pm. Today they are insisted I go though other procedure to avoid the possibility of "fraud". I again did as they requested. I answered questions they claim they took from "my personal history". None of the multiple choice referrenced any personal facts about me. Now they are saying the drivers license photo is to dark for they to read. The copy on the documents I faxed back to them is very clear and easy to read. I do not know what to do at this point. The last conversation I had this afternoon, I was told "to bad, if they cant read it, they are canceling the claim." I now believe the"fraud" is on their part. I don't know what to do now. I would like to have an email address for the Director of Customer Service, a Mr. Bill Brant. This company obviously does not want to honer their contract.

Asurion fraud

My phone was stolen 10/13/09, I filed a police report and reported it to Asurion. On the 10/21/09 when I went to pay the $85 charge to replace my phone I was told that since my phone service had been disconnected that day I no longer had insurance. I was told that they do not validate the claim from the day of the incident, they validate it when you have all your paperwork completed and even if I paid my phone bill I could not replace my phone because I would be starting with a new insurance plan. This is fraud, if I file a claim with my auto insurance it is validated the date of the accident, if you file a claim with your credit card insurance it is validated effective the date of the qualifying event. My phone service and insurance was paid through the date my phone was stolen it should be honored. The phone number in my complaint is my mother's phone number and she can forward all messages. Thanks to Asurion I no longer have a phone.

This company is just completely awful in general and a complete scam, not to mention a money guzzler. I have to pay 6 dollars a month and 130 dollars to get a new phone, that's just a completely ridiculous amount of money. If that's not enough, I can't even get the phone I want anymore. Upon calling the company, you have to answer around seven questions from an automated voice which is a time consuming pain. After going throuhg that you have to reconfirm most of your information once you finally get to talk to a real person. And here's my major problem, besides all that, I finally got my phone shipped to me after around a 5 day wait, besides all the trouble that I had with them inbetween that wait (which lasted about a week), but it turned out to be broken. I called them and they were being uncooperative and rude, so I complained to around ten people before I finally got transferred to the office of the ceo and they still wouldn't meet my demands, so I gave up and called t-mobile. I was on the line with asurion for around an hour and a half, yet within ten minutes of talking to a t-mobile representative I was demands were satisfied and they were very pleasant to talk to. Asurion is a waste of time and a horrible company. I cannot stress enough how much you SHOULD NOT GIVE THEM BUSINESS!

Asurion sending bad replacement phones

I had my son's Nokia replaced by Asurion after a year of paying the monthly fee. The replacement arrived promptly but soon developed problems. After two weeks it would only take a charge if the charger cord was wiggled. Then my son showed me where the charger port on the phone had pulled completely out when he disengaged from the charger.

I called Asurion to complain about the defective replacement, but was told that I was past my 7 day return period. Did I want to pay the $50 and file another complaint?

This is a scam where defective phones are "fixed" and passed on to other people. They appear to have a quality control problem judging from the many complaints I've read on various sites. They're hard line to not replace their mistakes is going to catch up to them.

Write your phone carrier if you have problems with them. If you are considering insurance with them- be warned.

Asurion poor service

I have cell telephone service through AT&T and decided to take their insurance on my son's phone. The company that contracts to them is Asurion. Since my son's phone had not been holding a charge well(12-24 hours/charge) over the last month I went to the local AT&T store and was given a card with no company name but a phone number to contact for insurance. My husband made the call, explained to the representative the problem and was told that the phone would be replaced, but the company did not have the same phone available (an LG Shine) and that we would be sent another model that might be a new or refurbished model. The model number was given, but I'm afraid that meant nothing to us since we were given no choice or time to research what we were being sent. My husband was then told that a $50.00 deductable would be charged to our phone bill.

We were given no chance to find out what model we were to receive, we had never clearly been informed about the deductible and were taken totally off guard by Asurion. I was listening as my husband spoke with the representative and was horrified by the expense and immediately searched for prices for a replacement battery. After I found the battery for $15.99, my husband immediately called Asurion back. This occurred within approximately five minutes after hanging up from the first call (definitely in less than ten minutes). He was told that he could not cancel and that the charge was nonrefundable.

I went on to call AT&T to complain about their service provider. The customer service representative from AT&T tried to assist me, going so far as to contact the company and carry on a three way call, to no avail. The same stance was maintained. Although AT&T offered to credit my account the charge I feel that Asurion gave extremely poor customer service. When I complained to the AT&T customer service representative about the poor quality of the company that they use to service their accounts she started the process for me to lodge a complaint. She came back on the line saying that she had located a number for a complaint service with Asurion. She put me through to talk to that representative who very kindly condescended to make an allowance and credit the money back to my account after I returned "without activating" the phone I would receive.

I at that time expressed my dissatisfaction with their company policies and explained my intent to log complaints against them.

I feel that since their site advertises "next day" shipment (I checked the site after the contact) and my call came within ten minutes of the order they could have assisted me without putting me through so much. They absolutely refused to provide assistance until I threatened to file complaints and blog about their company. This takes advantage of all other customers who are rushed into an expensive decision with no recourse who are either not willing or unable to complain bitterly. People should not have to waste time and energy and become distraught due to questionable company policies.

I would like to see a change in the way customers are informed of what they are getting for the money they spend on insurance. They should be clearly informed that the phones they have insured will not necessarily be replaced with the same model, that the phone they receive may or may not be new, and that there is a $50.00 nonrefundable deductable. I also found out in the course of my conversations today that if some poor soul had two claims on this insurance within twelve months they would be dropped immediately. Asurion needs to make sure that all of their customers are clearly informed of these policies.

I have been going through a horrendous experience with this insurance company about my phone and claim since 12/20/13 and the issue is still not resolved. During this time I've gone days without the use of a phone. My story would take up 3 - 5 pages to explain and I'm exhausted by my encounter. I only want to say every complaint on this blog was my experience up to now. Keep the word out there about this insurance and every carrier that uses them. I will be signing on to any class action out there against this company.

Asurion Defective cell phone

On February of 2009, I filed my first claim with Asurion concern a defective cell phone I order off the AT&T website for wife. I claims department was so rude to me it was unreal. I had to call them at least 3 times in order to file my claim. Finally they sent me my replace phone but just recently this phone start to not function properly and the claims department tried to conclude this claim as water damage when the phone has not been expose to any water and main problem with the phone is the charging port on the phone is defective to the point where you have to rig it up in order for the phone to get a charge. Now Asurion is dropping my wife coverage due some policy them have of no more than 2 claims per calendar year. It fun how they can accept your money for the insurance and be unwilling to allow real claims.

I can't believe you've had such bad experience with them. I've used them at least 5 times with no problem. In fact, one time I did get a phone that broke within a month, but now they have a ONE YEAR warranty on phones--so they switched it out for a new one that has worked fine since. I'm sorry you haven't had such pleasant experiences with Asurion. I have!

Asurion asurion ripped me off.

About two weeks ago, I lost my phone. I called Verizon, and they told me that I would have to call Asurion and file a claim. I went to Asurion's web page and filed a claim and paid the $50 deductible for a replacement phone. I received the replacement phone 4 days later. The refurbished replacement phone had a bad LCD that turned yellow whenever a certain area of the LCD was pressed. I called Asurion, and they apologized and sent me another replacement phone. Three days later, I received the second replacement phone. I sent back the phone with the bad LCD and began using the phone. I noticed right away that the hinge on the phone was loose, but it didn't seem to affect the prformance of the phone. After using the phone for about a week, I noticed that the screen seemed to lock up for no apparent reason. I called Asurion and was hung up on by the person who answered the phone. I tried calling back, waited about 15 minutes on hold, then decided I would call them later. Three days later, I called back and spoke to a person in claims, who told me that I would need to call back after 7:00 AM, since the department I needed to speak to was closed. I called back later that moring and talked to Joanna. She told me that she would have no problems replacing the phone. She asked me if the phone had been dropped and to remove the battery to make sure it had not gotten wet, then put me on hold for about 15 minutes. When she came back to the phone, she apologized that I had waited so long on hold, but that she was not permitted to replace the phone because it had been in my possession for more than a week. I asked to speak to her supervisor. After waiting on hold for about 10 minutes, she came back and said she was transferring me to her supervisor, Roger. I waited about 10 more minutes on hold, then Roger came on the line. He told me that all they could do is file another claim and charge me another $50 for a replacement phone. He began quoting the policy and said that since I had gone 1 day past the 1 week time period, there was nothing he could do.

I lost my phone in a taxi when I called the company, I was told they would look for the phone but chances ofrecovery of an item left in the back of a cab were slim. After the first day convinced I would not recover the phone I filed a claim with Asurion for the replacement of the phone. As for the claims process all went well and I was charged the $50...

Asurion unauthorized billing

This is how the story goes...I contacted these people regarding a cellphone that has ceased to function properly. I no longer had any displays on the screen and couldn't access telephone numbers, voice-mail, the whole nine yards. They agreed to supply me with a refurbished phone and I reluctantly agreed to that solution. When the phone arrived, it was a real piece of crap with only half of the qualities of the original one. as I unpacked the "new" phone, I noticed that there was no SIM card included so I took the back off of the original phone. I had difficulty getting the SIM card out so I put the back on, turned on the phone and voila; now it's working perfectly. I called Asurion to let them know what had happened and explained why I was sending the "new" phone back. They told me that I might as well keep it because my $50.00 deductible was non-refundable and if I didn't send them my original phone, I would be additionally charged. There is something inherently wrong with this picture and I strongly advise anyone purchasing a new cell phone to be weary of the pressure to purchase this insurance. While they were willing to replace my old phone with an inferior product, they certainly have ill regards for circumstantial situations. I immediately dropped them and I am forwarding their replacement back post haste.

Tmobile G1 cellphone was stolen. Contacted Ausurion. They told me a replacement would cost $130.00. I told them I had heard they replaced phones with refurbished phones, told them I did not want a refurbished phone and was assured they did not send out refurbished ones. Received the phone. Noticed that opening the phone to use the keyboard was alittle tight, but because it was a new phone, was not too concerned, thinking that it was just because it was new and not broken in. A week and a half later, noticed a black tape like material coming out of slot where phone is hinged together. Called Asurion, was told that it was too late to do anything about it, that time period was up. About two days later, the phone completely quit working, I am sure due to the tape pulling something loose inside the phone. Called Asurion again, told same thing and this time was told that yes, they did send out refurbished phones. I lost $130.00 and a cellphone. I think this is a big rip off and I am totally disgusted with this company and also with Tmobile for allowing their customers to be done this way. I have been a loyal customer and have referred many customers to them. I do not recommend this insurance co to anyone unless you want to waste your money.

I just want to say as a consumer and employee of Asurion (Nashville) the customers know ahead of time they have to pay a deductible. This is the most common complaint i'm hearing. If you say you didn't know it's because you didn't READ before you SIGNED! The second most complaint is that the consumers are getting re-furbished phones and we are selling the phones they return for huge profits. Not entirely accurate. My neighbor works for the returns dept. in Smyrna, TN and told me they have to throw away more phones than they can save. Do you have a deductable on your car insurance? Healthcare? Dental? Vision? Can you access ANY of these services and not have to pay one DIME before you get the service you want? I hear CSR's talking to customers and i never hear one rude comment or anyone being "hung up" on. It's a few cases of "I'm the customer and i want what i want regardless of the rules or i'm going to kick and scream until i get my way!" Calm down, people! I go out of my way to be polite to people both on and off the job and so do the people i work with. READ THE AGREEMENTS BEFORE YOU SIGN THEM!
