I am reaching out to formally file a complaint regarding defective products and inadequate customer service experienced with Balenciaga. Below are the details of my grievance:
Details of the Complaint:
I purchased two pairs of Balenciaga sneakers, both of which developed significant issues despite minimal use.
First Pair (Black Sole):
Purchase Details:
Exchange Number: 83017202306010030000004656
Order Date: 06/01/2023
Store: New York - Madison Avenue
Issue: One sneaker is broken. The damage appears to be a manufacturing defect rather than typical wear and tear.
Second Pair (White Sole):
Purchase Details: Purchased online by my husband on 06/03/2024.
Issue: The sneakers produce a loud, disruptive noise when walking, rendering them unwearable.
On November 17, 2024, I brought both pairs to the Balenciaga store at 620 Madison Ave, New York, NY, where the first pair was purchased. The store representative, Nate, informed me that the sneakers would be sent to a technician for evaluation, which could take up to 16 weeks. However, I was not provided with any receipt or documentation confirming this submission, raising concerns about accountability.
Additionally, I was told that the issues might be classified as wear and tear, deemed non-repairable, and considered my fault—even though both pairs are under Balenciaga’s two-year warranty.
Concerns About Damage Assessment:
The damage on both pairs does not align with typical wear and tear. Instead, it appears to result from structural defects or material failures:
First Pair (Black Sole): The damage is severe and focused on a single area, suggesting a potential manufacturing flaw.
Second Pair (White Sole): The loud, disruptive noise indicates an inherent defect.
Wear and tear usually involves gradual, minor degradation from prolonged use, such as scuffing, sole thinning, or creasing. In contrast, the issues with these sneakers are inconsistent with such patterns, especially considering their occasional use. Request for Assistance:
Per Balenciaga’s General Terms and Conditions of Sale (Section 10), I am entitled to repair, replacement, or refund for defective products within two years of receipt. Both pairs fall within this warranty period, and given the nature of the defects and the inconvenience caused, I am requesting a full refund for both pairs.
Desired outcome: I am requesting a full refund for both pairs.
