About a year ago we bought a house in Omaha Nebraska after moving from Texas.
We hired a real estate broker from Berkshire Hathaway here in Omaha. Her name was Carla Maas, an agent who had sold our house in Omaha 6 years earlier. She included a home warranty in our closing which we paid for $850. She said it was a preferred vendor with Berkshire Hathaway.
After 8 months in our 12 year old house we had lived with a stove that did not work correctly and a refrigerator that made loud noises from behind the freezer. We called American Home Shield and they sent a representative from Members Appliance Repair, who in doing the work looked a little inexperienced. He ordered parts for both stove and refrigerator. The parts came in about 4 days. But no motor for the refrigerator. When we called American Home Shield and told them no motor arrived they said the vendor said they sent it and to have the repair person to come and look at the mail we received. They did not belive us. He came to the house and and told American Shield it was not here. A week later the motor arrived. Now we have been with out a refrigerator about three weeks. He installed the new motor and fan and said everything was fine. He said to give the refrigerator a few hours maybe 24 to cool The next day we put everything back in the refrigerator and it never cooled. Contacted American Shield and three days later the repair man came over again. He said the fan was much faster than the original one and it frooze up the refrigerator. He adjusted the fan and we gave it three days to cool which it did. But after the first failure we had to throw all the food away..and replace it. Somewhere around $150 worth of food. Recommendations...I would never recommend American Home Shield. If anyone asks about a realtor I will say if you choose Berkshire Hathway...do not use their recommendation for home warranty.

Desired outcome: It took about 6 weeks to get our refrigerator fixed....All the food spoiled after the first attempt to fix it....
