7 months after installation & still NO FUNCTIONING SOLAR
A really well spoken salesman knocked on our front door selling solar for Better Earth Solar in 12/22. Once we agreed to go ahead with the installation it was up in 3 weeks from then, towards the end of January. We’re a week into 8/23 & still no functional solar. My husband has been dealing with everything & he is typically very diligent on doing his homework on a company before preceding. I’m stepping in today to find out what is going on with getting our solar running only to find dozens of complaints & bad reviews surrounding this company! Unbelievable! I’ve currently been on hold for 30 minutes to speak with a real live human not a live chat, which they are pushing hard! I was number 25 in line to speak with someone & somehow while I’ve been on hold all this time they keep pushing back what number caller I am. Somehow 5 other callers have gotten in front of me. I’m now caller #30! The phone number I called is [protected]. My husband said the city finally approved the installation about 2-3 wks ago but our solar still hasn’t been turned on. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE SEEKING SOLAR. We have a pool & we were really counting on our solar for this summer to be heating our pool & covering our air conditioning use. Instead it’s just been huge waste of time & MONEY. Zero stars, thanks Better Earth! Guess the jokes on us! BTW I’m now caller #31 in line.
Recommendation: Do your homework before hand & DEFINITELY DO NOT BUY FROM BETTER EARTH!
Better Earth? Worst Experience!
I signed up for a solar system with Better Earth based on their competitive cost but the three month installation process has been a terrible experience and I would urge any prospective solar customers to avoid them at all costs.
Specifically:
After we signed a contract and paid $1,000 deposit, they surprised us with a “$1,000 city fee” that they didn’t know about previously even though they claimed they were one of the most active installers in my city. When the same salesman later put in a bid for my neighbor, he came up with the same “surprise city fee.”
Installers showed up and lacked basic equipment such as a tape measure. I had to lend them one.
Even though they claimed to be the most active installer in my city they did not know they needed to schedule a fire department inspection. This delayed the inspection process and city approvals. Though the city was willing to expedite the inspections, Better Earth would not accommodate a faster schedule.
During the installation process, the Better Earth technician removed a tamper ring from the city’s meter, which means I will be assessed a meter tampering fee by the city.
Based on analysis of my home’s energy consumption, Better Earth proposed a 5.46 KWh system. It turns out they installed a 3.8 KWh inverter, meaning that more than 25 percent of the energy generated by the solar panels that I paid for goes to waste.
When you call Better Earth customer service a representative takes down your information and complaint and promises someone will respond within 48 hours. Rarely does that happen. More often than not, customer service complaints get no response at all.
Recommendation: Bottom line: I would strongly advise against using Better Earth. They are deceptive, unprofessional, incompetent and unresponsive.
I had been interested in installing solar panels on my house for a while, and after some online research, I decided to go with Better Earth
I had been interested in installing solar panels on my house for a while, and after some online research, I decided to go with Better Earth after an initial consultation with my sales advisor, Ethan ***. Ethan answered a few lists of follow-up questions I had with speed, patience, and thoroughness. I was encouraged by his passion, honesty, and attention to detail during my information-gathering phase, as there's a lot to grasp for first-timers. The entire process takes several months between survey, purchase (or lease), permit, installation, and connection, but I'm very happy with the end results, as I can already see the reduction in my utility bills and feel like I can make a small contribution to renewable energy vs. fossil fuels. It's a big shift, so to truly understand how it works and the various considerations, you need an executive broker like Ethan who can guide you over the course of those months, and who will always be available to answer questions that pop up.
My family is very happy with the solar system installed for Better Earth, the representative explained in detail the whole process in very professional way, and any questions always received quick answers, also happy with the technicians who installed it quick and professionally. I highly recommend Better Earth.
The sales *** team, and customer support team made the whole process so easy. Its a no brainer to sign up with Better Earth!
Long delays in my system getting up and running. They are quick to collect the money front 90% for solar installation. Final design approved on 8/16 I had my solar installed on 9/16. The initial inspection was scheduled on 10/17 where Better Earth failed to show up The next inspection was scheduled 11/2 where the city called out issues that need to get *** of which was the installation not done per the design.Weeks have gone by without communication on when my solar system can be up and running.I am not happy with choosing them as my solar installer.
I was referred by a friend of mine to better earth. The representative came to our home and was super helpful, as was his partner with whom we talked through Zoom. They explained everything super well, with no hidden fees or extra charges. They took their time to explain to us how the system worked. Their installation process was quick, and they took care of all permits. It was hassle-free, and they were constantly in communication with us. They went above and beyond to make sure everything went well. I couldn't have been more pleased with their professionalism and would highly recommend them and their company to anyone who is serious about getting solar. They're still in contact with us, making sure everything is going well with our system and if we need help understanding our energy statements. Thank you, guys.
We just bought a new home and wanted to get a quote for solar panels
We just bought a new home and wanted to get a quote for solar panels. We got an in home inspection for the quote from a sales *** the sales rep wanted us to sign a contract so they can get to work for us. We were so hesitant because there was a 3 day cancelation *** leaving us little time to really think it over. The sales rep mentioned that they had to put in that clause because of the state of CA etc, etc. He also mentioned that if we wanted to cancel anytime it would be no problem. Well, we read the contract and the verbal communication that he told us was no where in the contract.. it just mentioned we (consumer) can notify about cancelations. Well, anyone can do that, but will they honor it without any fees or penalties? We also wanted the roof replaced before hand and unfortunately they couldnt get anyone to come in within the cancellation *** to give us a quote. When my husband called to cancel on the last day of the *** the sales rep began with his sales pitch. Its just bad business.

As soon as the panels were installed, they have shown up 2x unannounced to the house. No call to schedule or to reschedule on a part that needs to get fixed before the city comes out to approve the turn on. I have contacted them 3x on the issue as well as had my sales rep reach out. They said they will follow up and still have not after 2 weeks of waiting.
I was referred to a representative at Better Earth Solar and I am so glad I was! The team and the folks at Better Earth Solar made the whole process easy and they took care of everything! My only regret is that I didn't call Better Earth Solar sooner! I love not having an electric bill. I shopped around and Better Earth Solar is the BEST! I highly recommend calling them as soon as possible and go Solar!
Terrible experience Installation was done without permits and I they told me the permits were approved. Until this day I still dont have any solar power. The worst experience EVER. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.
has been awesome to help us walk through everything and deliver above and beyond! Better earth is excellent from the beginning to the end and pay attention to every details.
*** The sales person gave me a very nice quote, he was always extremely helpful and willing to answer question
The sales person gave me a very nice quote, he was always extremely helpful and willing to answer question. The panels were installed April 2022, they did not have planned sized panels In stock at time of installation, therefore they upgraded ours to next higher watt panels. I called 4 1/2 weeks later just looking for an update and was told Oops they forgot to resubmit the updated plans to match the upgraded panel specs. Over the past 3 months I have been told on 5 different occasions that the date of permit approval should be XXX! I have spoken with our towns permit review board on numerous occasions to assist in keeping the process on track and have been told the Better Earth permit department is not communicating and continually sends in wrong information. I have spoken to customer service manager who claimed she will get involved to help get job To Completion and would give me weekly updates. This lasted one week. Have attempted to contact her now 4 times and have NOT gotten a call back. At this point it will be at least 6 months. And there is NO resolution in sight.
was great to work with! Super easy and detailed. I had a clear understanding of not just the cost but the whole process. Within weeks permits were approved and the solar system was installed. The crew was super fast. Can't wait to get it powered up!
We were introduced to Better Earth by *** and couldnt be happier with this companys service, professionalism, knowledge and speedy installation. Our family has since referred anyone we know interested in solar panels directly to him!
with the site surveyor department was very polite and conducted himself in a professional manner. He was quick, efficient and decisive with his work and answered every question I had. He also provided information on why solar panels are the future.
with Better Earth Solar has been extremely helpful throughout the whole process. Whenever I had any questions regarding the installation and after the activation he was Quick to respond with answers. If he didnt know something which was rare, he called the appropriate people who would know and either would contact me back or the company would contact me themselves. I have already recommended *** to many of my friends and family.

Absolutely pathetic customer service, Ive had these panels installed for over the better part of 10 months and theyre still non-operational, I have tried to reach out about this issue every single week with a promise of a solution but none. *** left a bad review a few days ago on this site and what a convenience I get a call about how theyre FINALLY going to submit the Work Order form to the city and have the panels operating, then they proceeded to remove the bad review. Only when a bad job came back to bite them, they decided to do something, do not do work with this company, save yourself the headache and money as they still charge you for the panels even though theyre not working. All this stress to just find out theyve been lying about the city delaying the paperwork this entire time, they failed to follow through with the follow up work, so it led to a further delay, I am at the point of tearing these panels off myself and having them pick *** the panels in whatever condition they end *** in Pathetic excuse of a company, all this is going down to the complaintsboard.com, and they are going to pay for everything
We got our Solar installed by this company in *** on April 20, 2022. It is now October 17, 2022 and it is still not working. They have not followed up on the finalized permits. Now they have been so busy to follow up with us. This should be done by now. Make sure in the contract that if its not finalized within at least 6 months maximum that you can back out of the contract and get the solar removed from your house. I would not recommend this company to any of my neighbors.
Better Earth is the worse organization I have worked with in the last 30 years, within the construction industry. Their level of incompetence, inefficiency and inability to complete a project places them in rarified air. I have been waiting over 3 months for Better Earth to fix an electrical panel, that they broke at my house. They have sent 5-6 people, none of which have been able to resolve the issue. They don't seem to care that if water enters the electrical box, someone could be electrocuted and the electrical system could be shorted out. Oh btw... after starting in July 2022, it is now late October 2022 and even with PG&E acceptance, they have been unable to start my system up and produce any electricity. NEVER use this company unless you are a m
I recently had solar panels installed by Better Earth. They have been great so far. *** has been on top of everything from the moment he stopped by to talk about the panels, cost, process, etc. until now. Literally every step of the way.
My solar panels were installed on July 14. However, the system is not operational because Better Earth Solar has not made arrangements for the City inspection or the PG&E inspection.
I worked with a sales rep at Better Earth Solar who is still employed there
I worked with a sales representative who still is employed with Better Earth Solar. I was promised a patio cover with my solar project and the panels were to be placed on the patio covers. However, after loan signing, the inspector visited our home to measure and estimate for the patio cover just to confirm that our roof is too low to build the patio cover and the city won't approve the permit. He stated that it can be done; however, it will be costly and right afterwards he called our sales representative to let him know. The sales rep never called us back after many attempts to call him and when I decided to not move forward, he billed us with a cancellation fee. Apparently, the fee is from him and not the company we did loan signing for. He claimed that the fee is coming from Better Earth but Better Earth is charging him and that he will charge us in return with interest. Worst service in my life. Just goes to show what sales reps do to make sales and what they don't do when things fall through. He sent me an email stating we moved forward with everything but lacked stating that the patio cover promised by him failed on his end and that he never responded after that. I will be taking this to our local newscast.

Solar is a home improvement gold-rush with any number of household named companies aggressively marketing & selling
Solar is a home improvement gold-rush with any number of household named companies aggressively marketing & selling. We'd been thinking about solar for awhile, but hadn't committed. Then one day this fellow *** caught me outside in front of our house. Ordinarily I'm not particularly receptive to such sales efforts, but Keagan was personable so I engaged with him, and I'm happy I did. Over the course of many days following this first encounter he answered my every question, provided local references and arranged for me to speak with some of them first-person, provided clear numbers and explained everything. I put BE's system designers through the ringer, scrutinizing the finest details. Components were all top notch. I checked everything. Keagan and BE's design team accommodated some late stage changes we decided upon to get more solar productivity. We were also particularly concerned about our home's metal roof. Concerned that the install wouldn't hurt it in any way. The installers were very careful and everything went smoothly. Our system is performing just as Keagan promised. Our generation to date is approaching 10 MWh. That's a lot of electricity. Very positive outcome and we're very happy we went with Better Earth Solar.

Test mail chain from a sales contsultant:ME: You told me that you could do something about combining the roof and solar system. I am not seeing how you are doing this. I do not need my roof done twice. I am willing to pay for a new roof construction with solar panels. Your quote puts me out of my budget. Unless you can do this, I will keep looking for a company that will. SALES REP: *** thing is 26% off your roof but like I said I have room to move Me: You do not understand my needs and wants. You should understand this in sales. I am being straight and fair with you. So here is my second request. DO NOT CONTACT ME UNLESS YOU OFFER THE SERVICES I AM ASKING FOR. (continued harassment from "management")SR:I need an all in cost your trying to achieve and like I told you I will see how close I can get ME: Dont test me. I will report you to FCC. I am asking you to opt out of communication with me. SR:I dont want to see you waste your time just like I hope you dont want to waste mine SRI was just trying to help get to your desired price I will send you my bottom out price with 12k for the roof and will not reach out again, sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way SR: All I did was try to give you the best price, did I do anything to offend you sir? What do you think?

Our family is thrilled with Better Earth's service and the journey with Keagan.
Our family could not be happier with the quality and service we receive from Better Earth. This wonderful journey began with a relaxed and informative meeting with Keagan in our home. It was obvious from the beginning how proud and positive Keagan felt about the company he represents. Keagan's zero pressure approach to sharing his products with us was a very refreshing experience. His ability to answer all of our questions in ways we could understand allowed us to make a positive and confident decision for our solar power needs. The installation of our solar system was installed by the very professional team from Better Earth. Their attention to detail makes the system look extremely clean and custom built for our home. The switch from the original power company to our solar system was seamless. From the moment we started with Better Earth, we never had to pay anything out of pocket. No down payment or installation fees. Everyone asks about our savings with the switch to solar. The savings are incredible and instant. Our bills were consistently over $250 dollars a month and continually going up every year. Now we pay $100.03 and our energy costs are fixed for 20 years! Best upgrade to our home we've ever made. Thank you Better Earth.
I dont think anything is as important to me in this world than professionalism and customer service
I dont think anything is as important to me in this world than professionalism and customer service. We live in a time where these qualities simply do not have the importance, meaning, and purchase they once did. *** has restored my faith in the human experience. She is the consummate professional. She knows her product forwards and backwards, answered every question we had with style and *** and anticipated our needs for the next two decades. *** was my initial contact, she stayed with us through the entire process, never handing us off to the other guy. She came out to the house and presented all our options, she studied our usage and mapped out our panel needs. She took care of everything; pulling permits, scheduling installation, getting the city to come out and sign off on the final product and a hundred other little things in between that Im not even aware of. The whole process was well oiled; speed and efficiency from the outset. ***, she was even here on the day of installation. Solar is all the rage right? What are there..a half dozen companies or more looking for your business? We compared a couple companies. The price points were about the same, nothing to get in a twist over. But, when you take into consideration the confidence and passion *** has for solar, her environmental concerns and her quest for creating a better Earth you simply owe it to yourself to shake this woman's hand and let her go to work for you.
I do vendor management as 90% of my day job, and working with Better Earth was a breeze
I do vendor management as 90% of my day job, and working with Better Earth was a breeze. I did a thorough interview of approx. 10 different solar companies and talked to move of them for over 30 mins discussing scope, price, product, and expectations. Ultimately, Better Earth's proposal was simply too attractive to pass up. My sales rep (Josh) was professional, knowledgeable, and available to answer any questions along the way. They helped me to build a system that would fit my families needs for years to come. Due to COVID we had a delay in getting approvals, but they checked in regularly and kept me informed and took proactive steps to keep my project a priority. (This was the most impressive part of the experience as true character is shown when life presents hurdles.) Once the county office reopened and approves granted, they were out in days to do the install. Friendly, safe, and fast. The team lead came out a few days later to inspect the site and actually moved and adjusted a few panels to improve efficiency (thank you! I wouldn't have known the difference). They handled the inspection and had people on-site waiting for over 3 hours for the inspector to come just to ensure all went smoothly. Once activated, this system for the past 2 weeks has been producing well OVER the promised production. I've been monitoring it myself w/ the phone and online app daily and we're going to need to come up with creative methods just to USE all of this extra power. :) Very happy with our selection. Thank you Josh and Thank you Better Earth!

I really wish I had the same experience as all of the individuals who commented below
I really wish I had the same experience as all of the individuals who commented below. I signed with *** back in September 12. I had to keep following up with *** on the status of my installation. I was very clear I did not want the install if I can not receive the tax incentives for 2020. So after a bunch of follow up on my part with ***, they started the install on December 31st. I did not realize that the install was a 5-6 part install. The vendor they use do not answer their phones and do not provide a window of time of when they will come by. I found out from my tax person, I could not use the tax incentive for 2020 until is completely installed. *** was not aware that I could receive the 2020 tax incentive. The vendors used when present, do not let you know if they are leaving or what is next.. Overall poor communication from *** and the vendor Better Earth uses for the installation. *** has also insulted me and is immature with dealing with escalated issues. He also, requested that I take down my negative review of my experience from other sites, since the install was almost complete. It is almost a year later and my solar panels cannot pass inspection with *** because they used the wrong breaker. Vendors show up without notice a couple of times with out any notice. I have to start paying on the solar panels that is not working. The Better Earth website states 60 day install guarantee or they will pay your first year of solar payments. We will see if they will follow through on what is stated on their website. I don't know when the solars are going to pass inspection. *** with Better Earth has over promised and under delivered."

I originally signed my contract for solar panels in February 2022
I originally signed my contract for solar panels in February 2022. My permit is dated 2/14/22. It is now nearly seven months later, my panels have been on my roof for six months, and we have not yet passed inspection with my city. The first problem was my living room flooded. Giant swells in my ceiling right below the solar panels. Better Earth came out and fixed it, then fixed it again, and then repaired the interior damage. Awesome, I was so grateful. We have failed inspection three times. The first time it was a true problem, something with the way it was installed. Totally fine! It happens. It was fixed immediately, we scheduled another inspection. The second inspection they noted that there was just a problem with our permit - it was written for a 13 panel system and we only had a 10 panel system. None of this was communicated with me; I only found out after we failed inspection a third time for the same reason as the second time. That was back in July.Thats when I started asking questionsand received absolutely no answers. The customer service department is so polite, but really they can do nothing. I was told that their management team doesnt actually do anything and everyones backlogged. Every single time I called I was told the problem had been fixed - just that day! - but someone had to be lying because its been nearly two months since my last inspection and nothing has changed.I paid Better Earth $15k back in Februaryand we are still not turned on with my utility company. I beg anyone reading this to PLEASE choose a different company. My experience has been so frustrating because I am so helpless. I cant do anything to help fix this. They are a large company and do NOT care about individual cases. Not because the people there are mean (because they are not!) but they already have my money and have no incentive to helpso they just do not. This is my first Complaintsboard.com review and will hopefully be my last. Do NOT go with Better Earth.
A little over years ago, a friend asked me whether I had thought about solar
A little over years ago, a friend asked me whether I had thought about solar. I had, a few years ago, but it was expensive and not cost-effective for me. Now, I thought, maybe I should look into it. He gave a Better Earth rep my contact info. Within several hours, I had a call from *** and 2 days later *** (the *** Team) were at my house explaining todays solar & why I might benefit. They gave me a proposal & a copy of the *** Solar Consumer Protection Guide. I read it thoroughly & found where I could get more info. Im a detail person and wanted to understand solar including panel *** and *** calmly and rapidly answered my many questions. If the *** Team didnt immediately have an answer, they obtained it & texted it to me - often within a half hour! One Saturday morning, I texted *** with a question & 30 minutes later I received a phone call from VP *** who happened to be in ***! He answered my question and gave me additional information about the black-on-black panels Better Earth uses & the light weight racking system which puts less strain on your roof. Still searching for more information, CEO Zain Jan suggested that I send him my top 5 *** would get them answered. I did so & within 48 hours Chief *** meticulously answered them & even told me to check the website of the *** Secretary of State in case I wanted to confirm any company information! I did research other providers but happily signed my contract with Better Earth the end of June . My panels were installed 2 weeks later! My neighbor was so impressed with the installation that he had his own Better Earth installation 6 months later. No questions asked because I had already asked them! Now, on my one-block-long street, there are 4 homes with Better Earth panels. Im very glad that Im part of the Better Earth family!
Had a consultation with a representative from Better Earth
Had a consultation with a representative from Better Earth. I'd already done research on what I need but he insisted we sit through his lengthy pitch with silly questions like "Would you rather rent your energy or own it yourself by going solar?". After that he showed us the preliminary plan for the panel layout for our roof. It was lacking enough power to cover our bills completely and he admitted as much, but that was his only offer. The price was on the high end but not out of reason for the area I live in. However, he didn't ask about my electrical panel to figure out if that would need to be replaced. He was missing basic info about what the job needed and yet gave us an estimate. I said I would review the details of his plan and make a decision and requested the contract proposal via email. He agreed but instead of emailing me anything to do with the project, I received an email for a loan agreement. He wanted a loan signature without me even SEEING the work contract. Absolutely scummy unacceptable behavior. The other scummy thing he did was constantly try to talk to my parents, who are in their 70s, because he knows it's easier to sell to elderly customers, which is why I was handling the selection process in the first place. He tried to set up another meeting in a couple days with my parents present. I'm 40. There's no reason for that. They just need to sign the contract when it's ready, they don't need to be part of the sales process unless you're trying to sell snake oil. In the end I feel so insulted by his behavior I don't recommend anyone use this company. On PG&E's website you can look at a database of recent completed solar installations and how much the price was per watt-hour of the system. That is the best way to find a good price from a reputable contractor. The next contractor I talked to was a breath of fresh air--we immediately talked business, he got my power needs, and started working on a contract proposal right away.

We, too did *** have a positive experience with Better Solar
We, too did *** have a positive experience with Better Solar. The solar consultant from Better Earth (who signed us up) was not truthful with the timeline, did very little to keep us informed about our project (nor moving it along) after we signed the contract, gave excuses throughout the process and towards the end just stop communicating with us. He originally quoted us 4 to 6 weeks to get the unit up and running, including the roofing after we signed up. We signed up on January 9th. He also assured us that, "I am here to help you every step of the way and keep you updated." In our last communication on May 10, we asked the consultant why this project is taking so long and to let him know that we cannot understand why we have heard nothing(once again) for 10 days after he promised an inspection and the system should be up and running within 10 days after our last communication with him. Once again, there were several excuses. Then he tried to deflect it to the company saying, "Let me find out what is taking so long." That is when we found out, he never formally put in our request for the final inspection and to have our system turned on. We stayed on the line while he communicated with his company and he did give us a confirmation that Better Earth will start the final process to turn on the solar. Again, that should have happened in 10 days. Then another 2 weeks went by and we heard nothing from the consultant OR the company. During that last communication, we let our consultant know that this has definitely not been an experience where we can refer others to. After that comment, he would not respond to us and that was the last day(May 10) we heard from him. When another 10 days went by, we had to take matters into our own hands, but was not sure who we should communicate with. We were never given any other number, other than his, and we had no names of his managers. We found one general e-mail address on the Better Earth website so we e-mailed the complaint(because we wanted it in writing), asked for a manager's contact and that is when we got a response the next business day from a representative of the Better Earth company. She did apologize for the "consultant's lack of communication." She assured us she will now handle the project. We questioned her why the company had not gone through with pushing our project through when the consultant gave us a copy of the confirmation. She would not answer or address the question we asked and simply kept repeating that she would take care of it from this day forward. Better Earth was then able to get the city inspectors to come out the very next day, send in the application to ***'s approval a few days after that, and turn on the system after approval, which takes 1 to 2 days. The solar was up and running in 6 business days after we spoke to that representative. So why nothing happening before we communicated with her, which is the question. Never-the-less on June 16th, we finally had our solar hooked up. That means, it took a little over 5 months since we signed up to get the solar system. That is a huge difference from the 4 to 6 weeks that were initially quoted to us. This means that we lost out several months of payments that could have gone towards our new system. Instead we continued to pay *** for our electricity for those few months. The representative would do nothing about that and would not even address it when we brought it up. This whole process was frustrating and therefore, we will not be recommending any friends or family to get solar though Better Earth.

Better Earth Solar
We have had a terrible experience with better earth.
Better Earth, sales misrepresented what we were going to receive. We have written communications that stated that our system would be installed in 90 days (6 months). They stated that we would receive a panel upgrade ($2500), we did not receive the upgrade and they charged us for it anyways. Better Earth stated that we would be reimbursed for our payments when our system wasn't hooked up to the grid (we have not been reimbursed). They also charged us an additional $2500.00 for trenching (ground system) that we did not receive.
We have been in contact with the company numerous times, and nothing has been resolved. they refuse to reimburse us for the panel. And they "keep" mailing the check for the payment reimbursement (4 times).
Desired outcome: I would like Better Earth to refund the $2500.00 for the Panel that we did not receive, $2500.00 for the extra trenching, and reimburse us for the payments we made whlle our system was not hooked up to the Grid.
Demand management computer
One of the key components of your solar system as well as a very expensive piece is the demand management computer. This equipment was installed on the side of my building but never hooked up or programmed. This tool is the key to saving money with solar. In addition they never came out to explain how the system works or how the components work. When I...
Read full review of Better Earth SolarFailure to complete job and repair what they broke
I went under contract for purchasing solar panels on July 17, 2022. On October 24th, Better Earth installed the solar panels on my roof. It took until January 4, 2023 for the first inspector to come, which I understand is not the solar company's fault. However, the system failed its inspection because all the pipes have to be painted to match the surface they are on. I have stucco colored paint which the tech used, but I didn’t have paint to match the roof tiles, so they said they would come back another day. They also wanted to see the wires that entered the box labeled. No one from Better Earth came to fix anything, so the inspector came and it failed inspection again on Feb 22, Feb 28, March 7, March 10. On March 10, right before the inspector came, a tech from Better Earth came and labeled the wires, but still did not paint the pipes, so it failed the inspection again.
Not only have the solar panels been up but not functional for 5 months, my roof leaks, the repair guys said the installers broke tiles all over and just left them. They had lied to my face that any broken tiles had been replaced. The repair guys didn’t know this was a tile job and didn’t bring enough. They also used the rest of my spare, caulked some and said call a roofer instead of taking care of what they broke, which is what they said would happen if they broke anything in the installation process.
The submission to Edison to activate has been rejected twice because the name and account number being submitted doesn’t match my Edison account. Three months ago I changed the account from dads name to mine so it would, and have a new account number, which I gave the solar company back then. I’ve called Edison. I’ve called my solar many times over the last 4months. Still issues. And April 14 the Edison rate terms (NEM 2.0) change not to my better if my system hasn’t been activated. Not my fault and no one cares
Desired outcome: Finish the system so it is operable and passes inspection, fix my roof that now leaks from the installation and ensure that I get the current not changing Edison rate

This man zain Jan has a company called solar ceos and scammed me for thousands. Hes a scammer and they promised to help build me a solar company, it was all a waste of time and they didnt help at all. I asked to quit after a week because it was all a lie and they closed me out of everything and KEPT MY MONEY. So I paid them and I still got locked out of the services I paid for and they kept my money. I spent thousands and they scammed me. I feel like one of those people on the scammer commercials. Used to think I wouldnt get scammed on but I guess it can happen to anyone.

This company installed our system 8 weeks ago and we still do not have it permitted. They have missed 2 appointments where they inspector showed up but they were nowhere to be found. Now they dont answer our calls or call us back. We have paid for this system and have missed the prime months of summer to gain rewards on our power bill and give energy back to the grid.

Times scheduled are not the times vendors has shown up. Installed incorrect breaker for installation and failed inspection Vendors keep showing up at my house unannounced wanting to come fix the solar panel I have a recorded message from the Better Earth representative if I do not get the incentive, he would pay me the difference

My solar system install was completed 11/23 but failed inspection by the City because it was improperly connected to a split bus breaker panel. Better Earth agreed in March 2022 to upgrade breaker panel and re-submitted permits. Revised permits were approved 5/20/22. In August 2022 Better Earth said going back to design to avoid breaker panel upgrade - supposedly because permits were taking too long (but permits were already approved). What can I do to get my solar system connected?

I've got solar panels installed in my house through a Better Earth solar representative who misrepresented to me that they are the same as GoodLeap and promised to help me cut down my electricity bills by adding additional solar panels to the one I have in order to generate more energy and even achieve a negative electricity bill. But now, I'm being charged three different bills for electricity: one from APS, another from GoodLeap, and a third from Better Earth. As I write this, I feel confused and believe they are taking advantage of me.
Better earth installed solar panels at my residence in March 2022. Till this date 08/2022 they are still not working. I have attempted several times to get answers from there customer service and have been unsuccessful. I have sent emails to a manager Bianca.m and she doesnt reply . At this point I just want them off my property. The finance company has been deducting there payments since May/2022 . I think if they are not competent then they should not sell . Can you plse help me resolve this ongoing issue . Its becoming a giant head ache
Hi Im complaining regarding better earth
Hi Im complaining regarding better earth. I decided to purchase 14 solar panels for my home. Ive had them for 3 months and they can not get them to pass inspection. Yes they compensate me every month for my monthly payment but ultimately thats not the solution I need. I call every 2 weeks for an update and I just get notified someone will call me back and nothing. They send my ticket (BE33582) to escalations but nobody makes an attempt to follow up. I regret purchasing this 33k purchase. The city keeps coming back and failing them twice so far. I have another inspection coming up and they havent been able to solve it. I need them to solve it asap or just simply come and uninstall the units and move fwd.

I signed a contract with Better Earth late 2021
I signed a contract with Better Earth late 2021. My file was lost and no one called to do the work.. Sometime in March, after much bothering on my part they began the work. My Solar system was installed over 6-8 weeks ago (incorrectly) and it does not work!.They can not get a new design, which will match the work actually completed, for another 6-8 weeks. THEN, the file has to go to PGE to get activated which is another month. I purchased this system so I could use it during the summer for my A/C primarily and I also have a monthly payment do, in 2 weeks as I financed the system. It is sitting on top of my roof, doesn't work and no end in sight with the monthly payment due to the finance company. . PLEASE HELP!

I had solar installed in March and was suppose to have a city inspector come and approve plans for solar
I had solar installed in March and was suppose to have a city inspector come and approve plans for solar. Plans were approved and inspection took place in May. Inspection failed due to an addendum by better earth. They were suppose to resubmit the updated plans and have a reinspection. Plans were resubmitted with the same exact plans with no revisions in July, city denied the plans because they were identical. No new plans have been resubmitted. I called better earth multiple times and have been getting the run around and they claimed they resubmitted new plans in August. I called my city and no new plans have been submitted. I spoke with a customer service representative *** who just literally laughed At my situation. Payments have been removed from my bank account, for services that I am not receiving.

We had someone come to our house and do a speech and we signed on to get solar we had our solar from better earth installed on may 28th it is now august 16th and we still dont have our solar inspected or turned on so we just keep getting 300+ electric bills, we also just paid our first solar bill of about 76 dollars and we called to get that back because that in there policy and we still have yet to receive that ether. I have called multiple times and we just keep getting that they dont know and we get no resolution. I hate to bring it to this point but I didnt pay *** over the next 25 years to get scammed and not have my solar work. I want my solar on and working and I want my check for what I have had to pay. I want this resolve and I wont accept anything til they physically come to my home and turn my solar on.

I Signed a contract in May and panels were installed on June 20th
I Signed a contract in May and panels were installed on June 20th. To this day (Sept. 18th) the service has not been been turned on and I have been paying the electric bill through the hottest months of the year. I have paid the company 90% of the cost for the panels and still have not heard back. At this point I am really concerned about the credibility of this company and questioning wether their 25 year warranty will be validated. In the contract I was told it would take 4-8 weeks maximum for the activation and it has been over 12 weeks now. I have tried calling the company and have not been able to reach anyone. This is very concerning, after this experience I will definitely not be referring this company to friends and family as I would not want anyone else going through this experience.Cash Amount Paid in Full -

Sept2021 was the date of purchase
Sept2021 was the date of purchase. The sales person was a complete liar as everything he told me was incorrect. I was told I get a *** dollar tax incentive through SRP which is not true. SRP does not give any incentives. I was told my *** was going to be 135 a month which is true but only for the first 18 months and then it jumps to 185 a month there after. I was told that my electric *** would be lower under the plan that they set up for me but it actually cost me twice as much a month not including my panel payment, an issue I had to rectify with Srp. My panels were supposed to be operational with in the first month but took them over three, while I was still being charged taking away from my 18 months of 135 payments. My connection fee for SRP was also incorrect as I was told it would be only 35 a month but is actually 45 a month

We have rushed to install solar panels to get ready for summer
We have rushed to install solar panels to get ready for summer. We have installed it on March 28, 2022. I was under the impression that once we installed our solar panels, we start using energy from our solar and we will only pay PG&E $10/month. As months go by, I see a full bill on PG&E. I did not want my electricity to get cut off, so I continue paying them while I am paying my solar monthly payments. After multiple follow *** to the salesperson, I was told that I will get my PG&E bills reimbursement (phone conversation). My salesperson is not responsive so I finally called customer service to only find out I cannot get reimbursement on my utility bills. The customer service also told me that my *** are not activated yet. All this time, no one has told me that. This business is disorganized, uncommunicative and it feels like a scam to me. Having to pay them and pay PG&E in full every month for 4 months now, going 5.

I signed up with this company to get solar panels in 9
I signed up with this company to get solar panels in 9. My credit was checked at that time with my approval. The whole purchase dragged on and on, and this business always had an excuse for the delay. Because it took so long, my credit was checked a second time 6 months later without my approval or knowledge, and it was a hard credit check. There was zero communication from this company on so many levels. Finally, 7 months later my solar panels are installed but here we are over two months after that and they still arent activated. Again, excuse after excuse. Now my first payment is due, but this makes no sense because I dont have activated solar panels. This whole process has been dragging on for almost 10 months now and its hard to believe its not resolved. This company is careless and does not put the consumer first. They are not reliable and are not reputable. I want my solar panels activated and I demand some sort of compensation for this trouble, as their website says.

We had a solar salesperson knock on our door, and everything seemed to be going smoothly
We had a solar salesperson knock on our door, and everything seemed to be going smoothly. We signed our documents, got our panels installed, went through city inspection - and WAM, they found a minor issue. They fixed the problem (the panels were not tied into our breaker panel) but have not rescheduled the city inspector. They repaired the minor issue three weeks ago, and we're still waiting for city inspection and solar Permission To Operate (PTO). We now have our first *** due for our panels which don't do anything! Instead of paying our electric company OR the solar company, we're now going to pay both for March/April at a minimum. I've emailed my Better Earth representative at least once a week for about a month directly and never get any replies. I've now upped my recurrence to once daily in hopes I'll hear something back. This is atrocious customer service - and this is all happening after they tried to steal $3500 from us from our original agreement - luckily, I was able to resolve that issue.

Better Earth Solar dragged the installation of Solar Panel more than 3 months
Better Earth Solar dragged the installation of Solar Panel more than 3 months. Initial negotiated price was $15000. Here are the issues I am facing.1. They installed the design which I did not review or approve. I asked for a revise design after reviewing first draft, it is still in my customer portal. They told me it was approved, but installed the first draft of design anyway 2. For re-approval from the city they claimed to have paid another $800 (it was total false as they never prepared for revised design), and the panel price was increased hence they jacked up the price by ~$2000. None of this was my mistake. It is their problem and false claims.3. They are penalizing customer for poor execution and mismanagement from their side 4. Now after installation, they are not enabling the solar, asking for more money, even with the old design which was not approved by me.5. I wrote them email stating I am willing to accept the design for $15000 even after their bad execution, but they are not willing to negotiate.6. I would like them to agree for $15000 or take their stuff back and restore from roof in original condition (replace all tile where they drilled holes)7. I did not even paid the initial deposit of $1000 before installation as revised design was neither reviewed or discussed with me.

My solar panels were installed on 12/1 21 and I was told that it shouldn't take but about 2 months to have me up and running
My solar panels were installed on 12/1 21 and I was told that it shouldn't take but about 2 months to have me up and running. The inspectors have been out four times since 12/1 to do their inspection and the proper paperwork is never available I have called multiple times and talk to multiple people and they keep saying that it's the cities fault and they are taking absolutely no responsibility for not having the proper paperwork available at the time of the inspection. I have talked to them about just canceling the entire contract and they said that I could not do that but at this point yeah I am so frustrated that I do need some resolution to this in the next short period of time. I was supposed to have a phone call yesterday from one of the higher-*** and *** never did call me back. They even came out and installed the electrical part for a second time, so they must have installed it incorrectly the first time. I have personally never dealt with somebody that has been this inept. I am very stressed and I'm tired of having to call all the time and talk to different people about the situation and getting no results. I would like them to either cancel the contract and remove everything or if they want to give it to me for free then I can sit here and wait for whatever time it takes but while the time is ticking it's very stressful for me.

I first signed up with Better Earth on March 2, 2022
I first signed up with Better Earth on March 2, 2022. The sales reps were fantastic, as expected and helped me with all of my decisions and pricing and everything. I was able to get a 16kW system. The installation was smooth and completed on 3/31/22. The inspection was schedule 5/10/22. Everything up to this point was slow, but they were communicative. The inspection didn't pass, and needed an update to the diagram. I had to followup with Better Earth regularly to see when they were going to do redo the inspection. It was a very minor fix. They finally got the inspection again on 6/24/22 and it passed.I had to continue calling and follow up with their team. During this time, I had to contact them via email and phone several times. This was to resolve the following issues...-I had to do a few "power cycles" and they would not send out a service tech to do it -Reimbursement of my monthly payment was necessary because my system was not yet activated One big gaffe they made during this process was they didn't check with PG&E prior to installation. PG&E stated that the transformer could not support the size of my system. I did not find this out until June after the system was already installed. Therefore, between June to August, I had to go back and forth with Better Earth and PG&E to figure out what to do.Better Earth finally came out in late August to resize the inverter to 5kW down from the actual size of my 16kW system. On 9/12/22, PGE notified me that the system could go at full capacity, which I immediately sent to Better Earth before they activated it at only 5kW.My system was finally activated on 9/14/22, six months after I initially signed up. However, it is only activated at 5kW, not the full 16kW. Since then, I have called and emailed numerous times to get the job completed. I am also still calling each month to get a reimbursement check.Long story short, sales and installers were good, everything else not so good.

In August I signed a contract to move forward with solar and a roof with better earth
In August I signed a contract to move forward with solar and a roof with better earth. Until April 2022 was I updated that my roof was complete and that they were going to begin the install. They came to my home on 4/4 and removed my roof. They backed into my planter shattering the bricks (to this day they have not fixed it or offered compensation-please note this is caught on my ring camera). After my roof was removed they let me know that they "mistakenly" thought they had the material for my new roof but did not and so my home sat without a roof for weeks. During that time it rained and water poured into my kitchen. They left all the trash piles all over my lawn so long that my grass was killed since it sat there for over a month even though I begged them to please at least come get the trash. They told my to move my dish which I paid $100 to dish network to move per their instruction. Then their people removed it and tried to reinstall themselves even though it was in a correct place and they damaged the wood siding and also stopped all signal so I had to pay a second time to have dish network come back to correct and pay another $100 and still have not had them offer to pay or correct the damaged wood their guy did. They installed 3/4 of my roof but the workers made a mistake on the trim and so they stopped ALL work and said they would only come back and complete the project once the new trim is in. So my home sat for a few more weeks without a roof. I reached out to the owners of the company to everyone I could and no one cared to ever make it right or complete or reimburse for all the damages they did. Then, the solar was partially installed. They stopped halfway. in May. It was only completed in June. July the city comes and states the plans are wrong and the equipment is installed wrong and they are not giving ANY time frame on when this will be corrected. I am being charged monthly for the solar- That is not working and still paying my PG&E.
