I wrote a week ago complaining about the second mattress that I bought at Big Lots. This one is the same as the first, the sides are sagging severely. I requested a refund so I could buy another mattress and haven't recieved an answer. I am 76 years old and sleep alone, weigh 120 pounds. I cannot be the cause of my problem. I also cannot be tearing up my bedroom, finding someone to take the damaged mattress back and bringing in another one. I have all my receipts and tags. I would appreciate an answer, and if it doesn't come, I will pursue other options, such as complaining to the Better Business Bureau, the newspaper complaint dept. and finally a suit filed with our local magistrate or from there, my lawyer and let him handle it.
Sorry for the inconvience but big lots has a return policy 30 days with a valid receipt, on another note depending on the mattress Serta also has a 1 year warranty on the arington 5 years on the courtland and a 10 year on the Danford now if your mattress is sagin you need to buy a more strudy mattress my advice to is try the courtland
Yes, well, you do what you feel is necessary.
Next time, purchase a mattress at an actual mattress store. They will provide better service. At 76 years young you are doing thrifty shopping. Sometimes it is better for people our age to PAY A LITTLE EXTRA and get better service. BigLots is certainly a pay-as-you-do discount house.
Go now and don't worry about this any more. Life is too short to be angry. Lesson learned. You are smart and this certainly won't bankrupt you.
God Bless.
I agree with the complaint and disagree with the response comment above. Paying a little extra is what I have done twice in a row. A LOT extra, actually. It took me being scammed twice by the major mattress manufacturing companies before getting a real education in how this industry has changed through corporate greed in recent years in the U.S., and it is absolutely SHAMEFUL.
BUYER BEWARE. Either go way upmarket and purchase something handmade directly from a maker you trust, or go to Big Lots, get exactly what you would get from a Serta dealer in any big name mattress store, but save a thousand bucks. And then go get another one in a year when the Serta falls apart because it WILL fall apart, no matter who you buy it from. I've tried to get money back, and even when the mattress company's investigator determined my lumpy, sagging slab to be "yeah, that's really, really bad!" I've gotten zilch. I've missed weeks of work and sleep from back problems that disappeared when I moved on to a 50 dollar air bed from Target. I only wish that air bed was practical for my husband and I.
I Was out of town in April of this year when my husband thought he would be sweet and have a new mattress and bed for me when I returned home. Within the first two weeks we thought we just needed to adjust to the bed. However, during the next couple of weeks it became apparent that the mattress was the problem, not us. Even though we've had the mattress for 4.5 months we have ONLY actually slept in the bed probably him 20 times and I have slept in the bed about half of that.I have slept on the couch and he has slept in his hammock. We tried to sleep In the bed twice this week and the mattress is COMPLETELY caved in from head to foot in the dead center of it. It is entirely useless. I'm very upset about the purchase and even a sub par/low-cost mattress should hold up better than this Serta has. DO NOT purchase a mattress from BIG LOTS! WORST purchase ever!
I purchased a Paula Deen Serta Queen Memory Foam Mattress and Box from Big Lots for $500 a year ago. The last 6 months sleeping on the mattress has been pure torture. My husband and I are waking up with back and hip aches...actually the pains start as soon as we lay down and last until you get out of it. And, both of us keep rolling off the sides of the mattress all through the night. We have faithfully turned it from head to toe and visa versa every two weeks for a whole year (this one can't be flipped as it is only finished on one side). It is only 1 year old with a 30-day "no questions asked" warranty and then prorated. I am going to the store tomorrow with my receipt but I am not expecting anything will be done to my satisfaction after reading all the bad reviews I have found here and elsewhere on Big Lot returns. Wish me luck. I will be updating soon! Dissatisfied Serta Customer (and soon to be BL customer, too, I presume).
