I financed a phone thru billfloat smartpay's program at metro pcs. I went in the store to do the transaction. The set me up for 6 payments, with the first being that day, january 3, 2013. The other 5 payments would be due the 1 of the month afterwards. Today, january 5, 2013, I discovered they went into my account and charged me 2 more initial payments. You cant get ahold of them on the phone, I wonder why? And emails, that aint happening and I read at other boards if they do respond, you still get the run around. They are a scam and makes me wonder why metro pcs does business with them..

I'm in the same boat. They are charging me over $500 in finance charges for a six month loan. I'm talking to an attorney as we speak. The other funny thing is that they didn't supply me with a copy of the contract becasue it was all done over the internet. Any advice is greatly appreciated?

I told them to pay off the entire account so I could close it and they never processed the transaction. Causing me to still have to pay interest plus they don't send you emails or confirmations when your account is gettin charged. They also don't have a way for you to log in and see your account.

Omg is the only thing I can think of. I also floated a metropcs bill and just spent the last hour submitting complaints to the better business bureau. they claim I owe over $50.00 more than what my final bill was at metro. to make matters worse, the initial reason I contacted their customer help center was because there is no transaction history listed on my account on their website. they have all my information, phone, dob, name, social, bank account number, address, etc... but there is no payment history or record of payments made, balance due, payment schedule... nothing! are you kidding me? the last 2 days have a been a nightmare trying to email them and get a hold of them on the phone. I can't view my account history, but "all of a sudden" I owe them more money than my receipt says they floated? this company is a joke and a fraud. I also told a metro employee they need to get as far away as they can from this business. how many other people are they taking advantage of? this whole situation disgusts me. billfloat, inc disgusts me. fyi, if you search billfloat, inc on the bbb website, there is all their corporate office address information as well as some contacts and phone numbers. happy hunting.

Since this Billfloat company likes to play dirty, I played dirtier. In ' your account ' page on their website, delete your account information and unsubscribe to their so-called "pay reminder emails". There is an option to actually delete your account on their site. They are stupid, they email you a pay reminder but at the bottom of the email there is a link that says "want to stop receiving emails from this company?" and a link to unsubscribe. I cancelled my debit card that I had the payments coming out of. It was a relatively minor inconvenience to report a lost card and wait for a replacement card as opposed to getting scammed out of hundreds of dollars by fraudulent charges and ridiculous interest. If I were you, I would highly recommend doing the same. Screw them. They are only screwing you.

I don't know why there called smart pay support because the way there stealing peoples money by taking unauthorized payments is wrong. not once but a few times. I have called them and faxed them a letter stating there wrong doing. I was assured it would not be done, but long and behold it was done again. I have gone to my bank to stop this payment, but mean while i'm going to have an over draft. they have caused me to stress behind any level I have felt. I would advise anyone not to get anything with them. they are horrible!

When I went to the Great Mall and ran into the salesmen at Crazy Wireless kiosk. I just merely was glancing at phones but not there to buy. I saw a sign that said you can now buy phones with billfloat service. I asked the salesmen what exactly that meant. They informed me it was just like billmelater. He said I could pick a phone take it home and pay it off in four payments. I said what’s the catch? He said no catch at all. I was very hesitant. He promised me that it was a great deal and there was nothing shady about it. Well after haggling with me for thirty minutes he convinced me it was legit and as easy as billmelater. Well, I supplied my email address (which I never check) and my mailing address and viola I had a phone. Well I got billed directly out of my ATM card. I figured four months later I was done. Well, I had my ATM card stolen 5 months later. I cancelled the card. Billfloat contact me and said that I owed my payment. I was like no way I paid you guys off already. Then I demanded to know how much more they thought I owed them. Mind you the phone I bought was a Galaxy S3 $499 (now sold at Best Buy for $399). They said I still owed 6 payments of $110! I was like what the hell are you talking about? They said that billfloat is a leasing program and that I didn’t own the phone until I paid it off and the payments were $110 for 10 months! That’s $1, 100 for a $500 phone! Why the hell would anyone pay that? I said this is ridiculous. It’s a scam. No one told me the truth and barely now I find out? They said they sent me an email months ago. Well I never check my personal email (which I admit I should now start doing). I expected to receive something in the mail like a real legit company would do. Billmelater does send you something in the mail. Not only did I get robbed but crazywireless lied to me and withheld the truth about this sham. Billfloat said I only had 3 months to pay the phone off and since I didn’t the I was stuck in a leasing contract. I refuse to pay them another dime. I way overpaid for the phone and I was swindled. I sent them back their phone this month and told them I am not paying anything else. They said I still owe them this month’s rent $110! No way am I paying them another dime. Not only have I overpaid I now paid $550 for a phone I don’t have! I had to go out and buy a legit phone from Best Buy that cost another $500! Billfloat is saying they won’t give me my money back and that I still owe them $110 for this month, January 2014. And they said they won’t cancel my contract until they receive payment. They say I signed their contract. I never saw a contract. They said the contract was 10 pages long and electronic. The crazy wireless guy had me sign the computer for what was supposedly my payment for my first month bill. Never once was I told anything about any contract. When I asked billfloat to send me a copy of the signed version of the contract nowhere on there is my signature. This is ridiculous. I want justice. Both companies are bad. I deserve my money back for all the lies and deceit and stress.

I floated a METROPCS bill with Bill Float as per recommendation from MetroPCS. They set me up for 4 payments of $73.00. Bill Float automatically withdrew $73.00 for the first three payments, no issues. On the last payment they claim they couldn't take the money out. I tried submitting pay off to pay the entire account and they won't accept it. They want me to enter a new debit card, since they don't accept credit cards. How many debit cards do you think people get? So I had to get another debit card just to try to pay them and since the payment is now after the 90 days, they was to add 5 more payments of 73.00... WHAT a bunch of crooks. In top of it, they are actually make withdrawals to the account they claim they can take money out from. I will be submitting a report to the BBB and talking to an attorney to take them to small court. DONT USE BILL FLOAT AND SMART PAY, the company is a SCAM.

My name is Jocelyne. I too became a victim of Billfloat S martpay. I went to the MetroPCS location on Old Country Road in Westb.ury to purchase a new Android phone. I was told by the representative that I would be able to finance the phone and make monthly payment if I didn't have the total amount of $661.00 to pay for the phone on that day. I agreed to proceed with the financing. The MetroPCS representative filled out the electronic application on their Internet system for me. No copy of the contract was provided to me. He opened a line of credit for me for $1, 400, He wanted to make sure I will be approved for the phone cost and any other accessory I needed. The credit line was approved and we proceeded to check out. The total came up to $661.00 which was charged against the credit line he opened for me with Smartpay Billfloat. I was set up for 10 payments. Total cost of $661.00 divided by 10 payments is $66.10. However, Smartpay charged me $142.29 every month since Dec 2013. I figured they will charged this amount until the $661.00 is paid up. I was charged $142.29 for 5 months. $142.29 multiply by 5 months (Dec 2013 to Apr 2013) equals $711.45. I received an text message from Smartpay Billfloat indicating that they will continue to debit my account for an additional 5 months for $131.00. I called them for an explanation. They told me they will continue to deduct this amount regardless of my complaint because I agreed to 10 payments. I explained to them that the amount charged against the credit line was only $661.00 per my receipt. They said they will continue to charge it any way from my account. I called MetroPCS for help. MetroPCS representatives told me that I need to resolve this issue with Smarpay Billfloat. Therefore, I called my bank, cancelled the bank card and request that a stop payment be put in place preventing Smartpay Billfloat from making any further withdrawals from my account. I need to take legal action against them to prevent them from accessing any of my assets. They are definitely a scam. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I was never informed of the program when I got suckered into it! never knew the number of payments! when making the down payment, they wouldn't take my card! (it's a direct deposit card from my job! it's a debit card!) at the time I was glad my mom was with me so she just put the down payment on her card! I was happy I got my phone... yeah! I requested my payments for the 5th... and the 5th comes & goes... no text message? then I contact this company & they informed me that my mom's card is on file... never authorized for any type of reoccurring payments & would never have got involved with this if I knew it was for 10 months! I have emailed advising them it's fraudulent activity, quoting fdcpa laws... I still get a text message today saying it's coming out on the 28th! I agree we might have a class action lawsuit against both smart pay as well as metro pcs! i'm going to look for an attorney also! anyone interested in joining up... message my profile!

Smartpay/billfloat is the worst company ever! just like several of you, I got duped into the bs by metropcs. the phone ii had mysteriously stopped working all of the sudden and I went to get it fixed at metropcs. when I was told that my phone could not be fixed, I decided to purchase a new galaxy 4. the sales representative told me about bill float and of course they tried to get me to take more out on the loan then I needed. I qualified for it in $800 loan but I decided to only take $600 and change just to cover the cost of the phone and a case.in no way was I told the terms of the contract. the only thing I was told was that had 90 days same as cash with no interest. they did not tell me this will be a 10 month lease costing me $121 every month. now here I am getting charges from my bank account from smartpay constantly. I have filed a better business bureau complaint and supposedly they emailed the terms which they did not. i'm going to end up spending close to $1200 for a $600 phone. that is ridiculous! I have been a customer of metropcs for approximately 8 years and because of this dealing with billfloat, smartpay, whatever, I will be changing carriers as soon as this phone is paid off. class action lawsuit against smartpay is needed. this company is worse than pawn shops.

Same thing you guys are saying. Is anyone filing a class action suit? I gave my girlfriend my credit card info over the phone. The man at the metro pcs kiosk said the phone was $69. Not so. They hit her for a "free" case for $20, 4 payments of $75, and today they called me saying their is $120 still due.

I am not doing that.

I just contacted a lawyer about a class action lawsuit against smartpay/billfloat. The lawyer's phone number to add your name to the suit is the following [protected]. I was also told that I would have less payments than they have charged me. When I called them, they told me that I actually signed up for 10 months of payments, at $130.50 each. I said that was insane, I never agreed to that amount of payments, and informed them I would be contact an attorney, then I hung up.

What this company is doing is abusive.. Most of us applied because we needed to purchase a phone in payments obviously because we didn't have enough money. I've purchased a $500 phone and made already 3 payments of $150 PLUS a $150 down payment. My balance due is $411 as today.. Really? It is understaNdable that there's going to be an interest, but in 4 months pay over $900 for a $500 phone ? ! These people are stealing money from all of us. Total scam and unfair. The BBB should take action

That is crazy. My husband is also a victim of the Smart pay scam. We purchased a phone for less than 200.00. He used my credit card to get started. We paid the initial fee of 89.00. The phone broke in 2 months, so we went to Boost mobile and ask what can we do. Boost mobile told us that we had to go thru Smart Pay. When I did get a hold of Smart Pay it was after the 3 months, Smart Pay said that this was a lease purchase. I told them I am breaking the lease so stop taking payments out of my credit card. Smart Pay attempted to take payments for a whole month, but because it was a business account. I had to authorize the payments. They constantly call our phone stating that they are going to disconnect the number. Had to buy another phone so if Smart pay attempt to disconnect any number. I will sue them. And still thinking about suing now. Good luck for anyone who is trying to sue them. Let me know if a class action suit is not brought against these guys.

Smartpay is a horrible way to lease a phone. I regret even doing it. These automatic withdrawals are killing me. If they cant get the full amt they pull half the amt. I just cancelled my card. Did a dispute. I will be paying them off and contacting that lawyer that someone has posted abt filing a class action suit. These people are thieves and they hide behind "you signed a contract" well guess what? I work for a collection agency giving out loans of over 14000. We do NOT do our customers that way. Worst company to do business with EVER

Well I financed two phones through smartpay, a Galaxy s4 and a Galaxy s5. The s4 screen shattered ad I didn't get insurance because you pay 50 dollar deductible for a refurbished phone. I learned my lesson when I went back to finance a Galaxy s5 and got insurance. Both instances I had good customer service and they were easy to deal with they did not pulp money out every week. They withdrew it each month the same day and sent me text messages and emails for payment confirmation. I even called to ask a question about my email contact info and the customer rep advised me that if I didn't make an early pay off I would go past the 90 day same as cash and incur extra rental fees and taxes on the Gs4. It is not up to smart pay to let you know when the 90 days is up they will not remind you it is up to the customers to know when the 90 days same as cash grace period is up I also had no problem getting a service rep on the line and she made sure to pronounce my name right and checked account security. I was treated better than comcast customer service.
The only problem I had a was finding the number.

I wanted to MetroPCS and set up an account to purchase a phone well Metro did not tell me all the terms and conditions like they were told me I only have 3 months to pay for the phone at 125.67 each month. was told I would not have to pay over the amount of the world but if I paid their 10 month assignment I would be paying double for the phone and was never told about it until now even the person that called and welcome to me too SmartPay told me I would be only paying 574.05 only. now they're saying that's a lie and refuse to back up what was told to me well I played smart on them I cancelled my credit card they won't be getting another dime from me. I told them we can take me to court get a attorney, send it to collections I don't care they are not getting another red cent. They need to be stopped. All they can say is sorry for the confusion and what was told to you, but according to the terms and conditions

I am in the same position as everyone else here. I've already made my 10 payments of $49.82. They are trying to tell me I owe 10 more payments.Who in their right mind pays $1000.00 for a $500.00 phone. They have now taken the 11th payment out of my account. I spoke with a person by the name of Justin at SmartPay(which I couldn't understand). He went on to tell me it was for rental fees and that I did not own my phone and I should have got an email in which I never did. He would not shut his mouth for a minute so i could speak. I understand, I understand, I understand is all I kept hearing. I went to Metro and the girl who handled everything used someone else's name on my receipt. All of a sudden she no longer works there! How convenient. They also told me they have nothing to do with the SmartPay account but, they are selling loans to customers over the internet with no signature on file. Something must be done. My bank said if I close my account they are able to reopen it by sending a payment through. My other option is to pay my bank $32.00 to stop the payment. They would also look into the SmartPay Company and possibly get my money reimbursed. Something has to be done A.S.A.P.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to post a complaint, they stop me from been ripped off, I almost was sold on smartpay but was saved because I had to pick up my wife, and did not have time to complete the transaction, when I came home I did some research and saw all the complaints. I went back to the metropcs store with the knowledge of how smartpay operates, I picked out a $150.00 phone and found out I needed $50 deposit and 6 payments of $65.00, not to mention the sales men added on a $25 case to the sale without telling me, once again thank you. yes it's a ripoff to me

Thank you all for your comments/complaints and I'm sorry about everyone who has been duped by this pyramid scheme of sorts.
I was approved for 900 dollars, which of course put me into the bracket of a very hefty down payment and then system of repayment if I opened an account.
I am surely not going to be scammed like this, thanks to you. I was very curious right away and did the "smartpay scam" google search and sure enough here I am. Straight talk is doing it also.
SO, I am done researching and have realized through all your complaints how this works.
I do think that if they let someone FIRST talk to the person who is at the smartpay company they could find out how to possibly end the "rent to own//lease to own" "same as cash period" many would then realize that this is a locked in and no return back scam.
Thank you all and once again, I am sorry for your misfortune.

PS: I would like to add that those who have been and are currently involved in "lease to own" contracts current, they should look for a loophole where if not satisfied with the level of service and quality of service, etc, can cancel the accounts and return the leased item and not be charged further. There are consumer laws in place to reduce the amount of fraud such as this, and it's as easy and sending relative congressional and federal law case examples to convince this company that if the company continues such practices they can be liable for wire fraud, etc.

Please look into such litigation on the books both past and current for relative support in this fashion and contact your nearest congressperson//DC rep for help in recovering lost funds and a way out of the contract.

They dont care about us but there money. They did this to me too. The metro pcs phone i bought is $50 now. At the time i bought it it was more and decided to do a payment plan. And to top it off they added accessories that i thought came with the phone like a special promotion. I ended up paying $700. I never received the actual receipt or the contract. This company is a complete scam

This happened to me too: (I paid it in full four days after I got it in the store when I received the email saying it was not 60 days same as cash! I was duped ino paying 830 when I could have paid in full four days earlier at the store but the metro employee assured me this was the same thing but I could do 2 payments so it wasn't all out the same day and as long as I paid within the 60 days I would owe nothing. I feel so dumb for falling for this bull. I was deceived but I still feel so violated and taken for a fool. not to mention the money I lost which was almost 200 bucks for four dang days! I can not believe these "people" (and I use the term people loosely) can do this to unsuspecting customers. being lied to should make the contract null and void but i'm sure nothing will be done about any of this so i'm humiliated and out almost 200 bucks. I guess it's a hard lesson learned-never trust the word of a sales rep again and pay cash up front always. if I can not afford something in one lump some I won't buy it! i'm sorry to hear all of u experienced this treatment and I know how u feel.. we were all deceived. it sounds like I got out lucky compared to some of the horror stories here but we were all decevied, swindled/ripped off and told we were the ones that did something wrong when none of us ever saw a contract or if we did it was too late to do a thing but pay the crooks! smart pay and metro pcs are liars and thieves. I wish to god I had enough money to switch carriers but sadly I can not afford anything else and it's not the service i'm angry about. it's the lie at the actual story and the smartpay companies ridiculous denial of any responsibility for metro pcs out and out lying to customers to get a better commission! I would almost bet they get more more if they dupe us into this garbage!

Hello guys my name is kenia, I am a current metro pcs store manager. I understand your frustration and that you are upset at the way smartpay works. let me explain one thing though smartpay is a leasing company, they let you borrow the money but the more you take on paying it off the more interest they will charge, smartpay doesn't base interest on the quality or quantity of your new device. smartpay gives you the option to do 30 days same as cash or 60 days same as cash it all depends on what you are eligible for not everyone qualifies for that option. smartpay now does 90 days with 20% it is your responsibility to make sure you pay off the entire lease amount before they charge more interest or before your same as cash period grace ends. keep up with your payments not because they are scheduled payments it means that everything will be fine, you are responsible for making extra payments to pay it off early. if you can't pay it don't buy it, and buy something for your budget. make sure you ask the sales representative everything you need to know. they are the ones that should be explaining everything about the lease not smartpay. hope this helps take it from someone that has worked with smartpay and metropcs

Kenia,

I have had similar issues with this so-called 'company' like everyone else has, from unethical, unhelpful, and just downright ruda reps on the phone, i've gotten hung up on several times, lied to among most of the other things that everyone else has experienced from this 'company'.in light of enduring such nonsense, i'm sure I speak for everyone else here who has had bad dealings with them as well as myself when I kindly say :
* go eat a [censor]! *

if you were a metro pcs manager like you say you were... you know damn well that no company should be conducting business in this fashion, nor have as many complaints against it as this shady sack of [censor] has against it! you know better!

I got a phone from them in January and my card got compromised so I had to cancel my card so I called them up and gave them my credit card number for the good card twice they never took out the payments and 3 weeks later I noticed that did not take the payment, now they want to charge me the whole amount due which is $675 since the phone was not paid off before April 15th which would have been if it was $200

I needed a new phone, I am a metro PCS customer because I was sick N tired of contracts. So Mt LG /android was not working properly so I went into metro and saw the I-phone ( was told it was the latest one) and I asked if they financed. the phone was 658.00, I was told I was approved for 1, 000.00 and the payments would be 66.00.

I was not given a contract when the transaction was complete, I was just happy to be able to face time with my daughter who is at school. a month later after the "lease to own" I was billed 135.00 from Smartpay. I called Metro PCS immediately, the deferred me as they always do to someone else. No help what so ever. so today I was really thinking about the 135.00 after all the sales person out & out lied and scammed me. I called Smartpay and he told me how to log into the Smartpay account only to find I had 8 more payments of 135.00 at 50% APR ( 50% APR!) if I decided to keep this phone and paid the 8 payment on top of the one I already made it would have cost me $1, 215.00 . I am returning the I- phone 5s as soon as i get the Fed ex label, he told me it would take 2 days to get the fed ex label through email and 7-10 to process. I will complain to THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION, THE FCC, THE BETER BUSINESS BUREAU AND ANYONE ELSE THAT WILL LISTEN. WHAT A FREAKIN SCAM ARTIST AND THEIVES AND SNAK OIL SALES MEN.

GO TO HELL METRO PCS AND SMARTPAY.

I would not recommend use of this leasing company, no matter how tempting it might seem. Customer support directs you to a call center that basically gives you minimal information and can not explain anything to you. You are then directed to an email address that can take 3 to 4 business days to get an answer. My issue was a discrepancy between the pay off amount they quoted and the amount my calculations were. Of course their figure was higher. No one could even explain how the calculations were based, nor could they provide a pay off figure for a date 3 days out. Of course the deadline for early pay off was 2 days away and an email response would take 3-4 days so I was stuck. My advice, DO NOT use this service. The fees charged are akin to a loan shark. Metro PCS makes it sound so easy to get their high end phones using this service, not so much. My $179.00 phone purchase, even with early pay off after 60 days will wind up costing me $278.95, were I to take the lease to term the cost would be over $450.00. That is outrageous, live and learn I guess, just hope this review will save the next person from making the same mistake...

I'm on the same boat. I agreed to finance a phone for 6 months, and ended up with a lease for 13 months. I paid them off after the 6th payment and a Galaxy J7 phone worth $139.00 ended up costing $450.00.
Someone should put a stop to these crooks.
Metro PCS is as much to blame as Smartpay (nothing smart about it). They were the ones that lied to me and gave me false information.
I think a Class Action Suit is appropriate.
Anyone thinking of starting one?
If so, then I'm in.
