I think it is un-American to force us to use a pharmacy (Walgreen Specialty Pharmacy)- they are terrible and they are ruining my health and when I complain about them ruining my health I will not only be suing Walgreen Specialty Pharmacy that BCBS of Michigan forces me to use. FORCES! They are a specialty pharmacy and cannot get a monthly order correct for the life of them. I have been dealing with *** Alliance because BCBS forces me to use them for over 5 months and every single month it is the same old run around. I have had it with BCBS telling me where I can get prescriptions from. There are other specialty pharmacies who know what they heck they are doing. I hate BCBS (and have been with them for over 25 years) and I especially hate *** Alliance Specialty Pharmacy that BCBS forces me to use so they can mess up my health and BCBS. They both truly suck! It made me check a star rating so I had to do 1 but I really give a negative five stars.
I have been dealing with issues with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Michigan since last year November
I have been dealing with issues with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Michigan since last year November. First they signed me up for a plan I never asked or approved them to sign me up for. Second they canceled the wrong plan and forced me to pay for a plan I never asked for, which was almost double my monthly premium. Then they applied my correct monthly premium to the wrong plan (over the phone), which forced the plan I wanted to be canceled and I had the wrong insurance plan for a month because they were saying I was outside the enrollment period for that month (after they took my money over the phone). This took 3 months to resolve. Now... They explained on Jan 13th they would refund my payment that they applied to the wrong plan and if would take 30 days for the refund...no big deal..30 days later made another phone call and they forgot to process my refund and would have to wait another 30 days to receive the refund...fast forward to March 13th (now 60 days later)... just called again and explained my refund will take ANOTHER 30 days to process because they sent the refund to the wrong address...I have lived in the same house for 7 YEARS! They have no problem with sending my bills...but when it comes to sending a refund now they are having issues.. Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Michigan is unbelievable and do not care about the people, all they care about is getting their money!
Horrible company negative company does not care about their members They provide false or misleading information, then deny payment. Your only recourse is to allow them to internally review, which they will deny also. They are not looking at the patients so they do not see what is going on with them.
[protected] Called few times and spoke with few customer representatives to get a help about my health plan coverage and no one helped me. Last representative [protected] was rude.
Hard to imagine more inept claim processing and customer service. I have a claim for reimbursement that has been submitted by fax 3 times with signed paid receipts and canceled checks. BCBSM has paid the nonparticipating provider twice. I have called at least 5 times, been on hold for more than 2 hours and been assured that this would be corrected. Nothing. Polite people but a totally broken system.

HORRIBLE INSURANCE COMPANY!
HORRIBLE INSURANCE COMPANY! YOU CANNOT TALK TO ANYONE TO PRIOR AUTH AN INPATIENT SURGERY FOR A PATIENT AND THE REASON WHY THEY DO THIS IS SO THEY DO NOT HAVE TO PAY! THIS IS FRAUD!

Worse insurance company I've had in all my life
Worse insurance company I've had in all my life. No customer service to speak of. Paying for RX plan and still can't get my prescriptions filled as of 1/9, was supposed to start on the 1st. Called customer service, estimated wait time on hold over 1 hour and no option for a call back. Finally got through to someone who said I would get a callback, never happened. Would give zero star's if possible. Two days now without one of my medications, how is this allowed to go on ?
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. Phone line is all automated, there is no way to get through to a representative in a timely manner. In addition, they do not answer phones from 12-1p but their automated system takes so long, even if you start at 11:30 you cannot get through to someone before 12p hits. This is the worst automated system I have ever dealt with and for a multi-million dollar company, I would think you could do better. This all results in delayed and poor care for your consumers.
Didn't cover covid -19 test because it was a "screening
Didn't cover covid -19 test because it was a "screening". The screening is when you have to get a test to return to work or because of exposure as an educator (ie, quarantine). To to do the right thing and get the test (screening) you get charged and not covered by insurance. $160 out of pocket to pay for my test. Shame on Blue Care Network of Michigan. Pandemic obviously means nothing to this company and is taking advantage of the situation. Disgusting! Not looking to try and get my $160 back because it's not worth the hassle. I just want to post so that people are aware of how petty and sad this situation is.

My company has used BCBS of Michigan for many years now and every year the cost rises significantly. Their customer service is horrible, wait times to call in is anywhere from 20 minutes to 45 minutes every time. This year they forced us to use Alliance RX Walgreens Specialty pharmacy and its been a huge headache. I have run out of my transplant medicine twice and BCBS and Walgreens RX have been very little help to correct this problem from happening. They blame my doctor but I have proof that my doctor sent the proper information over to the pharmacy. I honestly don't think an insurance provider should dictate where you get your medication from, I had no problems getting it from my local pharmacy.
I tried to file a power of attorney for my 91 year old father with advanced dementia
I tried to file a power of attorney for my 91 year old father with advanced dementia. I sent paperwork twice per their instruction with no response. Each time all the paperwork was different and the "sent to" address was different. Even though I have asked them to confirm that the power of attorney is on file with the documents that I send, they do not. The only way I know is when calling to try and take care of my father's business, I find no power of attorney is in place and the process of doing something for my Dad is a nightmare. The paperwork I have and sent was written by a legal attorney. After 2 months of the second send, I called. They had no record of receiving the information. I sent it registered mail. I asked to talk with a supervisor. They transferred me and I waited. Finally they said they were too busy and would call me back. They never did.
Simply said
Simply said...this is an insurance company that doesn't provide adequate customer service as a member. Our insurance is covered through an employer, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Michigan, who believes they are an excellent provider and highly promoted them (as their only option) to employees. I would have to strongly disagree. In an attempt to resolve incorrect coding from COVID testing that took place January and making sure that annual exams for the family were covered 100%, I have been unsuccessful. Not only it is extremely frustrating, but it has been over a year and I am still dealing with these matters, which no one at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Michigan is willing to resolve. I even jumped through insurance 'hoops' with appeals, monthly follow-up calls, and requests for managers/supervisors to help - to no avail. I just want to get a couple claims resolved and the courtesy of NOT being disconnected (4 occurrences where I was in the phone que on hold for one-hour; I received a message that stated the phone system was having an error and it disconnected immediately). Related note: where is the employer's responsibility in getting this closed? They could send out annual surveys to assess if the insurance company is meeting employees' needs.

Have this insurance and when I called prior to find out if my dentist in my area was "in network" the rude operator said she could only give me 3 and they were of her choosing and then she would not list any more. The three listed were an hours drive and none within my home state, and my primary dentist was not in their system so they said they would not cover any of my cleanings if I went there. So I was faced with either driving an hour away to a shoddy dentist, the three listed were not what I would call great options or pay in full and continue to receive stellar care from my primary dentist. The fact that BCBS of Michigan won't cover even part of a cleaning from a certified dentist that isn't "in network" is ridiculous. Even more is the fact they would only list 3 to me by phone. If I wanted to search their website, that is mostly bug ridden or down for maintenance, I could search there. The search only listed by names, you could not find up to date info on who will work with BCBS of Michigan, it's a time sink and a poorly designed user experience to say the least. The overall attitude of the operators I spoke with was worse than dealing with the DMV. There's a reason why this insurance is offered free and it's because it's useless to many individuals who actually want to go to professional, certified medical and dental practitioners without having to play the insurance game of we cover this, but don't cover that.
